View 3 RepliesRecently came back from college to a terrible internet connection that frequently disconnects or drops in speed randomly (for all computers on network). This requires me to perform a hard reset to restore connection. This usually happens at least once a day and sometimes several. Current set up is a Motorola Surfboard SB5100 Cable Modem and a Linksys WRT54GS router.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wireless internet constantly disconnects and then reconnects right away for seemingly no reason. I can't find a pattern, sometimes I have no dropouts for 6 hours, sometimes it happens every 20-30 seconds for a few minutes. I've checked online and i tried to do some research on it but i couldnt find an answer, i remember typing something into the cmd and it said that something was disables, just cant remember what i typed into the cmd. Also, when my ISP raises the network speed, my router or whatever it is can't handle it so i disconnect and have to call them to set it down.
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy Linksys E2500 wireless router frequently interrupts the connection to my ISP. This happens about 2 times an hour. The connections is - due to the automatic reconnect feature - only interrupted for about 20-30 seconds, but is quite unnerving, as it causes downloads to stop, streams to freeze and website loading failures. The reason I know that the connection is interrupted completely is that my IP address changes every time it happens. I know the failure is not on my ISPs side, since the connection does not interrupt when I connect my PC directly to my DSL-Modem (Siemens C2-010-I). The router runs the newest available firmware (1.0.04 build 1 Dec 26, 2011)

Have to reboot to reconnectThe card is an Intel 5100 AGN. Have tried uninstalling all software and reinstalling latest drivers from Intel and Lenovo. Have tweaked power saving controls, and tried about every suggestion out there. But the problem persists.

I am using TP Link 3040 V1 and whenever I am using it with my IDEA 3G dongle model no E1732 it keep on getting disconnected after 15-20 mins.
When i restart the router again it works fine for another 15-20 mins and then again disconnects.
When I use the dongle directly in my laptop it works fine without disconnecting. So the issue is not in the Idea dongle but in the router.
About a week and a half ago my n5050 began disconnecting from the internet and reconnecting about 20 seconds later. This happens pretty frequently, about once a minute or so. It makes doing anything over wifi almost impossible. Plugging in an ethernet cable (directly from modem or from wireless router) keeps the internet connected. My wife's laptop, coincidentally also a Dell, doesn't have this problem. Neither do mine or my wife's iPhones or my kids' Nintendo DSs. I'm totally lost. I've tried uninstalling the adapter, updating it, updating the firmware on the router, changing the power options on the wireless adapter, changing wireless channels, uninstalled and completely removed AVG 2013, tried a clean boot, and more. I'm getting real close to scrapping this computer and going with another brand...

My Cisco Access Point AIR-AP521 disconnets every few days and I have to restart the access point to make it work. The System Software Version is 12.4(21a)JA1 and it is acting as a access point. The lastest event logs does not show any critical logs. I am sure that there is no electricity or switch related problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a LinkSys WRT54G Wireless-G Broadband Router located in my basement office. My IBM T42 ThinkPad running Windows XP Pro has an Intel(R) PRO Wireless 2200BG Network Connection adaptor. The signal strength on the main floor of our townhouse is ~ 80%. My problem is the signal frequently disconnects then recovers automatically causing frustration when browsing the internet. My question: Should I upgrade to a new Wireless N router OR purchase a WiFi Range Extender? since my laptop has a Wireless-G adaptor would a Wireless-N router provide a stronger signal?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a huge problem since yesterday. I was using my wireless connection like always and it has randomly started to stop working for brief periods of time. It's like a continuous cycle where the internet works smoothly and fast (like always) for 30 secs at a time, then it goes into 15 secs where nothing works.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an acer aspire 5536 laptop and it will randomly disconnect from the wireless internet. Everything will be working fine but as soon as I try to load two things at once (or sometimes even one big thing) it will show that little yellow exclamation mark and say no access to internet even though it is still connected to the network. The other computers connected to the wireless work fine with no access issues so I know it is not the router. Also this happened in my previous home where I used wireless but from a different provider so it is definitely something wrong with the computer. Every time it goes to no internet access if I disconnect and then reconnect it works again.

I'm basically experiencing a frequently slow internet connection, but I believe this to be a fault with Virgin Media. Instead, I have a quick question - there are 7 computers in this house (excluding iphones etc), and the speed we pay for is up-to 50MBPS. Am I correct in thinking that this should be more than enough speed for all computers to be active on the internet without issue - including using Skype/Streaming TV etc? How exactly does a router distribute the broadband connection? This one is mainly out of curiosity, but occasionally I will find that the computer next to me has no issues streaming a TV program, but that my own computer won't even load the page.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Belkin 8236-4 v2 I got from Belkin because they RMA'd a 6 yearold Pre-N that kicked the bucket. I've been having a hassle trying to get my connection stable. At first I thought it was because the DHCP was causing anything connected to the router to conflict, so I set one of the PCs on the network outside the DHCP range with a static IP and gave it the Google DNS, while this worked for my PS3(connected wirelessly) it did not solve the problem with this PC. I've looked around on the internet for the past few days trying to fix it, and tried several things, but no avail. I'm beginning to think I may need to just buy a whole new router from another company, because after reading reviews on this router I got, it seems to be a big problem for a lot of people, while it seems to happen on a number of other brand routers as well, so I don't want to give up on this thing just yet.

View 5 Replies View RelatedRecently I have purchased Inspirion N5040 with Windows 7. I have observed the system looses internet connection when on Wi-FI.
Checked Ping on Yahoo & google with -t option and found few ping response and then a lot of request time outs.
I am sure you must be doubting the signal strength of Wi-Fi but I can confirm the signal strength was fine. In fact I performed ping test simultaneously on another laptop . The performance on other laptop was fine but on Inspirion N5040 I was finding too many Ping drops and was not able to browse properly.
I also, verified setting on Wireless adapter and found it is in DHCP.

Ever since upgrading my firmware from 120426 to the latest(121225), one of my computer(windows xp, TP-link Nano) is frequently losing internet connectivity.I purchased the router a month ago and firmware 120426 was the version that came installed. The router would stop working about 3-4 times a week, requiring me to reboot it. Because of this I did some research online and found out about version 121225 which supposedly should improve performance and stability. After the firmware upgrade today I noticed that one of my computer is having a lot of trouble maintaining internet connectivity for more than 30 minutes. When checking wireless connectivity it would say that I am connected and that the signal strength is excellent. I'm also able to ping 8.8.8.8 but not www.google.com(I've tried ipconfig /flushdns and it doesn't solve the problem). I also have trouble accessing or pinging the router(192.168.0.1) with this computer.
I am experiencing random disconnects from the internet -- they have been occurring about 1-3 times per day, although I've just had four in the last 20 minutes.

When the internet disconnects:
- Both the LAN & the WAN are affected, but I do not lose any wireless connectivity with the router itself.
- I am able to log into the router wirelessly but cannot access the modem.
- If I plug my laptop directly into the modem, I can connect to the internet.
- When I reboot (using the on/off switch on the surge protector), everything comes back up.
There are a couple of other wireless routers nearby with fairly strong signals, but they appear to be running on different channels.
My phones are DECT 6.0, so there shouldn't be any interference problems with those.
I've been poking around this forum, and have already made some setting changes that seem to be consistently recommended:
- Ensured DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual
- Turned off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
- Turned off Advanced DNS Services
- Turned on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
- Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
- Ensured devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
- Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.
- Using mixed G and N signal mode
- My security setting is WPA-Personal. WPA2-PSK
we have 2 laptops in the house and one console, One laptop and the console are fine, but the other laptop disconnects from the internet every few minutes, both laptops are connecting wirelessly, the router settings and modem are fine,
I have a situation that i would like a more experienced opinion on. We have 2 desktop computers in the house and do have a wireless router. Both of our computers are wired to the router, the wireless is generally only used for our iPad, and we have cable internet from Comcast. Whenever my fiance connects to World of Warcraft our internet disconnects and she needs to re-set the modem and the router. It is worth noting that not just the wireless disconnects but internet access all together is gone. What is likely the cause of this? I tend to lean toward a bad router but it only happens with this one program, so far, so i am also concerned it could be some sort of malicious virus/spyware.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a D-link DIR 615 and 2 laptops, a Toshiba (Vista) at about 35 ft away and a Dell (XP) about 15 ft away from the router. Both laptops connect to the router. The Dell w/ 4 or 5 bars and the Toshiba usually 2 bars. They stay connected to the router but lose the internet regularly. Anywhere from every day or two or 3 and 4 times a day. Usually shutting off the router for 10 seconds and turning it on again will reconnect to the internet but sometimes it takes up to 4 or more times and resetting the router before it works again. This happened when I was on a different cable network at a different address last year.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe are a business partner of a larger company that gives us a VPN access to connect to one website. It's the Nortel VPN so it's old but it's set to disconnect our Internet when we connect which is really inefficient. I understand why it does that but right now we use two computers, we have one as our main one then another sitting here just for VPN.Does the Nortel VPN work system wide when it disconnects the Internet? Or is there a way to use Ethernet and Wifi and just have the VPN connect over Ethernet and just disconnect the Internet there but keep my local network on Wifi? Or is that not possible? I'm assuming it's not just wondering if there's any alternatives.
