I brought this router mainly for audio/video streaming, as well as multiplayer gaming. I thought it would work. However, whenever i try to watch a show online, or even play a flash game, it would disconnect. I've only had this router for one day. I have Time Warner Cable as my cable provider and honestly since I'm living alone, the only two device that'll ever use the router is my laptop and my desktop.
View 5 RepliesI have a D-link DIR 615 and 2 laptops, a Toshiba (Vista) at about 35 ft away and a Dell (XP) about 15 ft away from the router. Both laptops connect to the router. The Dell w/ 4 or 5 bars and the Toshiba usually 2 bars. They stay connected to the router but lose the internet regularly. Anywhere from every day or two or 3 and 4 times a day. Usually shutting off the router for 10 seconds and turning it on again will reconnect to the internet but sometimes it takes up to 4 or more times and resetting the router before it works again. This happened when I was on a different cable network at a different address last year.

The problem I keep having is that the internet will randomly disconnect and it happens to all my computers. I am not sure if it is the router or the modem that is causing this. The internet service provider that I am using is Time Warner Cable and the modem is an ARRIS TM502G.I have tried resetting the modem and the internet seems to come back. Same thing happens if I try to reset the router instead of the modem. I have also tried restoring the router to factory default settings and that didn't seem to work.

When the internet disconnects:
- Both the LAN & the WAN are affected, but I do not lose any wireless connectivity with the router itself.
- I am able to log into the router wirelessly but cannot access the modem.
- If I plug my laptop directly into the modem, I can connect to the internet.
- When I reboot (using the on/off switch on the surge protector), everything comes back up.
There are a couple of other wireless routers nearby with fairly strong signals, but they appear to be running on different channels.
My phones are DECT 6.0, so there shouldn't be any interference problems with those.
I've been poking around this forum, and have already made some setting changes that seem to be consistently recommended:
- Ensured DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual
- Turned off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
- Turned off Advanced DNS Services
- Turned on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
- Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router.
- Ensured devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
- Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.
- Using mixed G and N signal mode
- My security setting is WPA-Personal. WPA2-PSK

In the past everything was working fine (had same computer connected wireless + wire) never had this disconnection. Now, I have a laptop connected using wireless & desktop wired but this disconnection is becoming so irritating. It is not only that I lose the internet connection, I lose the DSL like (as if the modem is turned off then on) and all my files over the LAN are either lost during transmission or something else.
there is no DIR 632 forum so I figured I'll post in the most active close one. My DIR 632 Disconnects AOL IM every 10mn or so, i tried changing the ports from 5190 to 443 which use to sole an issue of rapid disconnects/reconnects with a previous router (linksys).

I am using TP Link 3040 V1 and whenever I am using it with my IDEA 3G dongle model no E1732 it keep on getting disconnected after 15-20 mins.
When i restart the router again it works fine for another 15-20 mins and then again disconnects.
When I use the dongle directly in my laptop it works fine without disconnecting. So the issue is not in the Idea dongle but in the router.
The modem connects to a D-Link DIR-655 which connects to a computer (Vista) and a switch, the switch then connects to another computer (Win7) and an xbox. the problem is that the vista computer will randomly connect and disconnect from the internet/ network. The vista computer also generally runs very slow on the internet. The Win7 computer runs perfectly and there is never an issue, so I'm wondering if the problem has to do with the vista computer not being connected to the switch? It is not an issue with the router, I have tried two already and the same issue occurs.the vista computer is running with a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R which has a Realtek 8111C LAN chipset.

For the past three weeks, my router keeps on disconnecting my Desktop P.C. from which the main internet cable is connected. Whenever it happens, I try connecting my Netbook over a WiFi connection using the same router; and even though my desktop can not connect to the internet, my netbook still can. Apparently when it happens, the [3] (the 4th light in the image) light goes off, and I have to restart my Desktop P.C. for it to turn on again and to use the internet again.

Starter info... I'm running Hardware Rev A4 of the DIR-655 on the 1.33NA firmware. I never upgraded past that firmware because of all the horror stories I'd read about new firmware here. Up until lately it's been fairly stable. The issues I refer to SEEM to coincide with my recent installation of Apple TV hardware on my wireless network, though I can't confirm. It's never been great with this router, so that could be coincidental. On my network I have a hardwired Mac Mini, wireless Macbook Pro, a hardwired D-Link DNS-321 NAS box, Apple TV, Logitech Revue, iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone and occasionally one each of a Samsung and LG Bluray player (only when they're powered up, which is rarely). I'm also using a wireless repeater in the middle of my house because the DIR-655 doesn't yield a very usable signal in my master bedroom, which is on the opposite side of the house as the router.
With all that being said... I have had terrible issues being able to keep a steady connection wirelessly with this router as of late. Streaming Youtube videos will stop after a few seconds, loading websites will just stop responding all together, and I can't even keep a connection to stream music from my Mac Mini to my phone or AppleTV using Home Sharing in iTunes. I'll get a few seconds of a song and it will just drop out completely. It's been extremely annoying and I'm ready to take a hammer to this router, to be honest.
I've checked my logs and there were all kinds of FIN:ACK, PSH:ACK and SYN:ACK TCP packets that are being blocked. I noticed many of them were coming from Apple IP addresses, so I assume that the AppleTV had a lot to do with those. I actually used the Inbound Filter settings to allow requests from a whole block of Apple IP's, which seems to have settled log items from them down a lot. There are still quite a few that seem to be coming from Google IP addresses (I presume the Logitech Revue since it uses the Google TV interface?), but the Google IP's are too random to go allowing a large block. I have Advanced DNS disabled. All Traffic Shaping and QoS boxes are checked to enable. Comcast is my cable internet provider. I've noticed that my WAN Connection Up Time is often a fairly low number like the connection to the cable modem drops out frequently.

i m experiencing wireless disconnects every 5 or 10 minutes and all i have to do is too disconnect from the router in windows from Wireless connections panel , and reconnect and it ggets fixed for some time again . i got so frustrated that i changed to openwrt , the disconnection problem is gone but not getting the 150Mbps.

I have tried to go through the tech support email but no dice. My router disconnects every two days. The sys light will stay solid and require a reboot and my computer connected to the router will be unaffected . I have a 30mb connection with only 2-3 wireless clients on at the same time as the wired. The response I got from tech support email after waiting almost a week without a response was :

This is answer I get after already asking once why they want me to downgrade for a different router . What exactly the TL-WR1042ND is going to do for me that the one I have won't,but I cannot get a answer.I have no idea what they mean by "competent ", I don't believe my network is anything special and see no reason why the problem would be fixed by downgrading . I have a D-Link model DIR-625, and it always seems to disconnect when my mother logs on her computer. Is there some kind of setting on her computer that could be disconnecting us? When my dad is on his I never disconnect which is why I am wondering it must be something on her computer that's interfering with the signal or something. If I reset the router while she's still on, It will disconnect again within a few minutes. So where can I check if it could be her computer that's interfering with the signal?

Both of our computers are wired to the router, the wireless is generally only used for our iPad, and we have cable internet from Comcast. Whenever my fiance connects to World of Warcraft our internet disconnects and she needs to re-set the modem and the router. It is worth noting that not just the wireless disconnects but internet access all together is gone. What is likely the cause of this? I tend to lean toward a bad router but it only happens with this one program, so far, so i am also concerned it could be some sort of malicious virus/spyware.

This lead has a splitter on the end which is in our sons room. We have the Eircom modem connected to the splitter and to our sons computer, which is a Dell XPS 630 and which has no built in modem. The cordless telephone is connected to the other port on the splitter. The splitter has two ports one for telephone one for broadband. We also have another PC and two laptops. i have a fiber optics 75mbps internet , using a wireless n pcie adaptor on my computer,Dont know why but some times theres random ping spikes when im in game.Sometimes internet randomly dcs.Download speed is also very random from 2mb/s to few bytes.Also sometimes internet speed is so low that it is barely usable.

It's the Nortel VPN so it's old but it's set to disconnect our Internet when we connect which is really inefficient. I understand why it does that but right now we use two computers, we have one as our main one then another sitting here just for VPN.Does the Nortel VPN work system wide when it disconnects the Internet? Or is there a way to use Ethernet and Wifi and just have the VPN connect over Ethernet and just disconnect the Internet there but keep my local network on Wifi? Or is that not possible? I'm assuming it's not just wondering if there's any alternatives.
