Area 0 is provider reside and area 1 reside 700 hundred over of router including HQ router and remote branch router connecting to metro-E 10Mbps networks. Is this design have any weakness? Area 1 about 800 hundred router reside in, the HQ model is cisco router 7200 and remote end is cisco router 1841.Let's say they want a solution, for 3G remote router connect back to the HQ using Lease line with a fixed IP. Using DMVPN and OSPF communicating back to HQ. What should we aware when designing and implementing for the OSPF best practice. They have 700 hundred over remote branch need to terminate back to their HQ. I read cisco recommend an area should not be more than 50 router and per-area no more than 28 area.

Dec 27, 2011I have a Dell desktop with Windows XP Home Edition. I recently restored the computer to factory settings and when I tried connecting to the internet the Local Area Connection wasn't showing in My Network Places. I have been searching through other forums and tried the things that they suggested but nothing worked. I am trying to connect to an AT&T U-verse 2Wire router through a wired connection. I tried connecting both wirelessly and wired to another computer and everything worked fine. I checked the Device Manager and there is an ! mark next to the Ethernet Controller. The properties say that the drivers for that device aren't installed. And of course I can't install them since I can't access the internet. Other forums suggested that I check the network adapters option in Device Manager but that isn't available in the device manager.

Am I wrong but the only way to filter external routes - type 5 - is with a stub area, and area 0 can't be a stub? As far as I know OSPF can't filter on the route tag, so should I be filtering with a route-map?
Repair Local Area Connection
Dec 7, 2011My error message states that "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Registering with DNS".I have no internet connection on my HP PC, which is why I am typing this on my laptop.On the HP I am running windows xp with sp3.I connect to a cable modem provide by Time Warner.This problem started yesterday, so I have been utilizing both computers with one internet connection, or plugging and unplugging the cat5 cable.I have run Microsoft Essential Full scan, as well as Malwarebytes's Anti-malware.Now I ran both of those in Safe mode, and picked up no bugs. I have Avast as my antivirus software, and the message I receive on that is that "Avast will not be able tp protect mail/news (error 10050). I am unable to turn on the web shields for Avast.I have manually entered the IP addresses into my HP from my laptop, all the way thru DNS servers.It still won't connect.I tried using the Internet explorer diagnostic tool, and it came back and said that I have a winsock issue.

Oct 3, 20111. Internet works ok, everything is fine, but then it stops working for no reason.
2. I open Network and Sharing Center, and do diagnostics. They come up with result: "the default gateway is not available". Nothing works. But Local Area Connection and Network Controller are both enabled.
3. I have to restart computer for the internet to work again. However, it doesn't restart: it hangs forever in "shutting down" screen, and nothing happens. Probably because computer is still trying to connect to the internet (?)
4. After forced restart, internet doesn't work, but if I run diagnostics again, they come up with result: "The Local Area Connection adapter is disabled", and fixes it automatically. Internet works then.

Feb 26, 2013When you configure an ABR to inject a summary route into an area, what are the circumstances under which the ABR will inject the summary? I.e., since it's not a set of specific subnets learned directly from other OSPF routers, does the summary get injected regardless of what's in the routing table of the ABR?
I would imagine this could cause problems in a situation where there is an ABR injecting a large summary into an NSSA that also has a backup path over the Internet (IPsec tunnel or something). For example, if the area 0 routers from which the ABR receives routes went down, the ABR would continue to inject the summary route into the NSSA thus tricking those routers into sending traffic to the ABR rather than over the backup link.
I can't imagine any other way an ABR would decide when it's suitable to inject the summary though.

Mar 17, 2011I can't connect to the internet. When I double click Local Area Network under Network connections it says it has both sent and received packets. It is set to automatically acquire an ip address. The computer is connected to a router. I can ping 192.168.1.1 but when I try to reach my router's settings it says page can't be loaded. I tried to hook the computer up directly to the modem and connect that way. It said it was connected and it was sending packets but I still couldn't do anything. I've turned off the windows firewall. The computer is Windows XP SP1.
