View 3 RepliesI'm trying to setup my wifi at home and want to cover all the areas under same SSID and allow roaming cross since one router can not cover 20000 sq ft over 3-4 levels.I anticipate at least 8 if not more to cover everywhere. How do I setup a WLAN network for myself. I have a cat6 cable running in quite a few rooms.Basically my end game is have uninterrupted wifi access everywhere in the house Possibly run a SIP based PBX over wifi wherever possible, close to 24 extensions.I also laid down cat6 in most rooms to allow to setup my own central media server with that as well but that's a different topic and forum I guess. Can I use the cat6 coming into the rooms, connect it to the wifi router and provide Internet access over wifi and use the router as a hub to connect a cat6 from the router for the media player and another one to a sip based Pbx extension or have the Pbx extension be on wifi?Damn sorry for such a confusing and loaded sentence.

I have a supplier which i need to connect a site to site ipsec vpn connection to (from a draytek router). I have already done this on our main site with no problems using the local ip details of 192.168.1.0 and subnet 255.255.255.0 however i need to do the same on our DR site which uses the ip details of 10.1.0.0 and subnet of 255.255.0.0. Our supplier told me the 255.255.0.0 is already used at there end by a different customer so we are unable to connect the vpn and communicate (in theroy we can connect but our supplier cannot reply). We can setup a connection to another spare server on a different address using a different subnet but effectivly this would mean that communication would stop at that server and communcation to the overall network or specific server the supplier needs access to (on the 10.1.0.0 255.255.0.0 network) is not possible. I was thinking maybe an internal vpn server to server connection through win server may do it, 2 nic cards or routes in the server routing table but this all seems a bit messy. Our network consits of win 2003 and 2008 R2 servers and is basic network with modem-vpnfirewall-switch and devices on the internal network connecting to the switch.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this because buggy firmware (i updated to V1.00.16) or there something wrong with the device but if i set radio band to AUTO which enable wide-channel, my wireless connection become unstable when i ping to the modem, i got 200ms - timeout randomly
my family notebook that on other side of room connection also become more worst , ping to the modem (192.168.1.1) timeout so often
the connections seems better if i set radio band to standard - 20Mhz channel even though it seems WAG54G2 have more stable wireless connection (i replace it because the ethernet port dead) i also tried to change the channel, but the issue still persist, it seems the default is the most stable (channel 9 for wide, 11 for standard)
should i RMA the product as i just purchase last week? or it just because the bad firmware ?
F5D8233-4 using wide open west, losing internet for a few seconds during use, wow says it's firmware but the router says it's up to date.

Well i am done with implementing all the interface on server side and its working pretty well with client side computer. But instead of using Client Side Computer, I just want to use LCD and make some network interface of Local Area Network directly with LCD (to save cost/installation/maintenance of a dedicated computer with LCD ).

need to know the OSPF best design. I have a customer currently running their OSPF only in two area. Area 0 is provider reside and area 1 reside 700 hundred over of router including HQ router and remote branch router connecting to metro-E 10Mbps networks. Is this design have any weakness? Area 1 about 800 hundred router reside in, the HQ model is cisco router 7200 and remote end is cisco router 1841.Let's say they want a solution, for 3G remote router connect back to the HQ using Lease line with a fixed IP. Using DMVPN and OSPF communicating back to HQ. What should we aware when designing and implementing for the OSPF best practice. They have 700 hundred over remote branch need to terminate back to their HQ. I read cisco recommend an area should not be more than 50 router and per-area no more than 28 area.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer is running on Windows 7. It has had no prior internet connection problems. It is wired to my DV-2020 router. My internet suddenly disappeared, as in, it doesn't work anymore. I'm not sure as to when it disappeared due to my personal absence, but from what I heard it was either during 'starting a game' or 'installing firefox add-ons updates'. Internet does work on other computers sharing the same internet (wired and wireless). On the computer that does not have access to internet it gives a "local area connection - No Network Access" and "local area connection - unidentified network." So far I've tried:
A system restore.
Restarting the router (at home as well as the provider)
Changing wiring.
Disabling / Enabling.
Disabling virusscanner.
My local area network connection disappeared from system tray

View 1 Replies View RelatedVery soon for the second time we will be replacing systems in our (grad school) student computer Lab from the time of its opening in January, 1998. The monitors are recessed down below glass desk surfaces and are 17-inch CRT (Dell). Our current (medium) computers are SFF GX-150 and have 512MB RAM (doubled from the original 256) and 80 GB hard drives. The new GX620 will have 2GB RAM, 160MB hard drive. In addition, our current 10/100 Ethernet LAN for this part of the campus is also supposed to be upgraded to Gigabit (switch). Any experience of using Gigabit in an organization's local area network to find out any concerns for which I should be alert as we begin this new phase. Incoming students arrive before middle of August so the switch-out needs to be done fairly quickly and smoothly. What concerns should I have?

The "Local area network connection" is not visible in Network Connections. The Ethernet controller and adapter driver is properly install (no yellow signs). All Network services are also running properly.
The network is working fine, and getting an IP address from DHCP but has to restart the DHCP service once after booting.
