Home Network :: How To Setup Same Wifi Ssid Over Large Area

I'm trying to setup my wifi at home and want to cover all the areas under same SSID and allow roaming cross since one router can not cover 20000 sq ft over 3-4 levels.I anticipate at least 8 if not more to cover everywhere.How do I setup a WLAN network for myself. I have a cat6 cable running in quite a few rooms.Basically my end game is have uninterrupted wifi access everywhere in the house Possibly run a SIP based PBX over wifi wherever possible, close to 24 extensions.I also laid down cat6 in most rooms to allow to setup my own central media server with that as well but that's a different topic and forum I guess.Can I use the cat6 coming into the rooms, connect it to the wifi router and provide Internet access over wifi and use the router as a hub to connect a cat6 from the router for the media player and another one to a sip based Pbx extension or have the Pbx extension be on wifi?Damn sorry for such a confusing and loaded sentence.

I have a dir-615 D-link router. It is well installed with my main computer that is an old XP windows system. I tried to create a network to give acces to my friend laptop when he comes home(he has a mac). I setuped a network with a name and a password. So my friend could find the network name and i gave him the password, but it never works. Another friend of mine also came with an older iBook laptop and the same thing happens.

Im trying to rebuilt my parents home network. This is the general layout of what Im trying to go for when everyting is said and done.

and i dont know what switch 2 is yet because my dad ordered it and it has come it yet, all i know is its a linksys Now the big problem I keep having is keeping everything up and running for more than a day. Ive already configured router 2 to a staic ip address of 192.168.1.151 and disabled DHSP server thing which cleared up some of the inital issues I was having. But I continue to be plagued with issues of computers saying there are duplicate names on the network and the internet only working on some devices most of the time and the internet going out completely after a day or two. Now when the internet only goes out for some devices its usually limited to everything thats not hooked directly into router 1.but everything hooked directly into router 1 still has internetand the basic hard restart of everything does nothing to solve the problem. The only real way Ive been able to solve things on a large scale for a short time frame is to unhook everything and setup reouter 1 and the computers that hook into it on day one. come back on day two and setup switch one and comback the next day and so on and so forth. and usually by day 5 everything has worked for about a day or two then Im back with nothing working.

In my house I have a BT Business Hub wireless router at one end of my house. I am looking to extend the wireless range of my network into the kitchen at the other end of the house, which is a rather large distance away. The house is 200 years old with large corridors and thick walls. There is absolutely no wireless range from about halfway between the office and kitchen. I initially tried two powerline adapters which did not work. Having spoken with an electrician who carried out a rewire on the house, I have been advised that the two areas are on a separate ring main.I considered using two wireless range extenders, but have been told that the signal is halved for each extender that I use.So, I have had the idea of trying to use two DSL routers at each side of the house. There is a phone point in the office and also in the kitchen, where the second router would plug into. These are both on the same telephone line.

I am planning to deploy a "Digital Notice Board system" in my office, which gets feed from web server and display data/stream on LCD Screen. Well i am done with implementing all the interface on server side and its working pretty well with client side computer. But instead of using Client Side Computer, I just want to use LCD and make some network interface of Local Area Network directly with LCD (to save cost/installation/maintenance of a dedicated computer with LCD ).

I have a Time Warner Cable business class service with no static IP, with a wireless modem which is plugged to a CAT5 distribution panel. On the jacks (2 other rooms on the house) I have a Linksys E3000 and a Linksys Valet router for signal boost and gadgets usage (TV, cameras, etc).The main router (TWC) has it's own external IP which TWC assigns to me and internally distributes via DHCP the range 192.168.0.x. With that said:
- The E3000 has a 192.168.0.6 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The Valet has a 192.168.0.7 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The main router has the 192.168.0.1 as the gateway and web-interface
Whenever I connect something to the E3000, it is distributing the 192.168.1.x range and the valet 192.168.2.x range.That works perfectly for my home based business until I decided to use more stuff on the network such as a IP printer, IP cameras, etc.
- The IP cameras are connected to the E3000 due to signal strength and I have manually assigned them the 192.168.1.15 and 192.168.1.16 IPs and ports 9001 and 9002.
- The printer is connected to the E3000 and I have manually assigned the IP 192.168.1.30.
Issue 1: Port forwarding On the main router (TWC - UBEE) I have tried to setup a port forwarding by informing the Local IP as 192.168.0.6 (E3000 IP), Internal Port 0, Public Interface IP (0.0.0.0), Ext Start Port 9001, Ext End Port 9001, Protocol - Both, Enabled Yes. On the E3000 I did the same config (screen shot attached e3000.png).This is not working properly. I can't get into the camera.
Issue 2: Printer/ The printer is only accessible if I connect to the E3000 (because it is on the 192.168.1.x network)
Issue 3: How to configure all the devices on the same subnet? If I want everyone to be on the 192.168.0.x network, how to configure properly the E3000 and the Valet? I have tried to force them into the same network but it would not work properly. It would not get an IP from the UBEE router (main).

I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad X200 and want to setup a wired local area network.How could I achieve this?
Situation:I just want to connect to the internet and I have a cable connection at home.So, I just want to plug the cable line to my notebook (x200) so that I can access the internet via the cable.

i live in a two story townhouse. under the stairs, there is a small closet where the modem and router are. there are also three ethernet ports, one that leads to each of the bedrooms. However, the only one that is being used is my room (my roommates dont need ethernet) so what i decided to do was run the ethernet port from the modem directly to my room and then connect the router to it using the ethernet port in my room. (my room is upstairs)
Now, this setup works great for me. I can connect my HD to the Airport and my printer via ethernet and my desktop as well. BUT ever since i moved the router upstairs to my room, the internet has been EXTREMELY slow downstairs
so this is what i was thinking, I want to get another wireless router and put it downstairs where the modem is, and use my airport Extreme as the "second" router. But, i want to use a different SSID for my airport extreme. is this possible?
I was thinking to connect the new router downstairs like normal, and disable the DHCP server on the airport extreme and change the IP address to make sure it isnt the same as the new router, then connect the new router to one of the three ethernet ports on my airport extreme.
Is that the correct way to set it up? and if i do that, would i be able to connect all my devices without a problem? (in addition to the devices mentioned earlier, i also have a second printer, a PS3, a home entertainment system, and sometimes my laptop, all connected to the airport via an ethernet switch) and lastly, will I be able to access the internet without a problem? will this slow down the internet that i get?
the reason i want to do this is because 1) I dont want any of my roommates or their guests to access my hard drive (i know, i can put a password on it. but still) and 2) if my printers are on the same network as their computers, they like to "accidentally" wirelessly print to my printers. I want to avoid that because they print. alot.

Here's the layout: Cable modem in the basement. Several devices in which I'd prefer a wired connection in the basement. Upstairs on the 1st and 2nd floor of the house are many devices in which wifi is fine or preferred.Here's the problem: As you might guess, wifi is weak upstairs and certainly on the patio and 2nd floor. I have an access point upstairs that I've experimented with but it is flaky.

My Wifi network has a wpa2 password that is a random string of characters and numbers and yet last month a rogue IP Address kept popping up on my DNS list. It has to be coming from my neighbor who's bedroom is about 15 feet away from my router. So unless someone is sitting out on my front lawn to do this then it must be him.I've been looking for software that will notify me when a connection my router is attempted and kudos if it also asks my permission first would be great.There are wifi packet sniffers out there like Cain&Abel, Airsnort, that sort of thing but I am not quite savvy enough nor do I want to turn this into a complicated hobby but just need a basic warningin case something gets past my passwords again

I want to setup a DC++ HUB for sharing data within the university local network. We have addresses of the form 172.31.*.*. These addressed are accessible within the university bu non routable outside on the internet. My plan is to setup a local HUB for DC++ for sharing data within the university intranet. So even if internet is unavailable data can be exchanged through LAN. This HUB must not be accessable outsied the university network.how should I do this all..implementing network sharing other than DC++. My basic idea is that everybody can share their data and the data is searchable from one common interface( Web interface is better option, if possible). And data featching should prefferably be from many hosts, using multiple connections so that speed can be improved..

I have a router supplied by my ISP, Verizon[a g-router] using with 2 desktop and 2 laptop computers. All but 1 laptop are still running XP.So far I have not tried to print over the network. The printer is connected to the desktop that is also wired to the router.how to setup printing across this wireless network. I'm trying to set up my home network with two routers. One as the LAN router and the other as the access point. I have a really nice router and an older router, I'll just leave it at that. One router will be connected to the modem, the other in my game room for the wireless access point. I want to use the nicer, newer router as the LAN router or the wireless access point?

Right now I have 3 notebook. 1 as a client, 1 as a router and another 1 is for monitoring. I am extremely new to network but also excited with the things you can achieve with a Cisco switch.For about 3 months I sat down looking at my "Cisco C2950-24 Switch", this surely for such a beastly looking thing it must be able to do something other than just allow you to plug in cables. So with that said I started to do some reading and watched a couple of You Tube Videos.I am on the route to complete my first goal and thats have my own VLAN setup with 1 Server and 6 clients. The Server is running ESXi therefore a few other servers are running inside it too.So my VLAN - VLANID 20 running the network 172.22.22.0.
