We have almost 500 users and theres a network printer which people have to add eachone of them if they want to print and thats a procedure and takes time to show everyone all the steps. I wanted to know because we are using a domain which all pics are connected on that domain also the printer how is it possible to make it that the printer is shown on all automaticly?

The issue i am having here is that the printers that are networked are printing extremely slow. Printing as a domain admin seems to be nice and quick as it should. I just cant get my head round it being so slow for the clients.
can i print as am joint to a domain.

I have a Homegroup set up at home that has a printer connected and shared to one of my PC's. All PC's behind the HomeGroup (or sharing the same homegroup name) can print to the printer no issue.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI thought that there are more security issues than LAN issues, I have a network with 11 computers of which 1 is SME server and 10 are clients (mainly 256MB DDR1 tech machines withceleron D processors, onboard VGA and sound; there are few 1024MB DDR2, AMD Sempron LE processors). All clients have XPSP3, .NET framework 1.1+2.0, Office 2003, AvastFree 7.0, Mozilla Firefox 7.0 and several utilities not very important. Every client has 2 users (Admin and User) on Local Machine and 1 on DOMAIN (UserDomain). Both User accounts are limited. First, all computers were in same workgroup and not part of DOMAIN. In that time, printers on clients were shared among themselves and worked flawlessly. After joining the clients to the DOMAIN, the work continued without issues. One day, I have changed the name of the SME SERVER computer and the issues have started. Several clients can not connect to those shared printers, even others are using them well. When I want to add shared printer I can not browse the particular computer on which the shared printer is (through ADD PRINTER wizard). I manage to do it writing the full path of the particular computer and there I can choose the printer.
After selecting it, username and password is required to finish the adding. Of course I use the Admin username ad password, and after typing it error message pop up (printer is unavailable or can not connect to it). After this I close all windows, start the adding procedure again, and then I can add the printer normally. The problem continues, because, on those computers on which I have had this complicated way of install, after several days shared printers refuse to print saying Access denied. Then I have to delete the printer again, install it twice and hope to work after that for a weak at least.
The problem is getting bigger, as on one client computer I can not print from browsers (Firefox 7, IE 8) but from Office there is no problem. Of course I have checked other topics about this and use setups-modifications-advices but they did not solve printing problems. I have even reinstalled that computer, but the problem remains.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 desktops (running windows 7), a Canon MF8300 printer, and an outgoing ethernet line, all on a Netgear Advanced Cable Modem Gateway CGD24-CPR. I'm only concerned with having the 2 desktops set up with the Canon printer.Both computers have been connected to the printer before and I have the startup disk. But once the new offices were set up and both of the desktops were moved, I can no longer access or find the printer.
I can IPconfig the Desktops for their IPV4 addresses and both desktops recognize eachother on a Homegroup, but I can't find the printer. I printed off the print configuration page from the printer which gave me an IP address (printer is set for auto-obtain), but using an IP search won't bring up the printer.All of the devices are plugged into ethernet ports set up for the three different office they are in and the actual location of the Netgear cable modem/router is over 100 feet away. My primary concern is getting the printer for the desktops, but I also need to add a wireless router into one of those office in the future.
I used WPS on my DIR-655 Rev B1 FW 2.03NA to register a Brother HL-2270DW Wifi laser printer and my Mac can never wake it up to print. It always works fine from all my Windows machines.It appears as xxx.xxx.xxx.6 on my network. But the router only shows its IP as 0.0.0.0 on the STATUSWireless page and I can't find any way to change that. My assumption is that the Mac can't find it because of this, but I'm not an expert on WPS.Maybe I should take it out of WPS and just assign it a fixed IP using DHCP Reservation. Or is there another fix? I haven't ruled out the Brother OS X printer driver, but it and the printer's firmware are both up to date.Two odd things:
1. I can ping the printer from my PCs but the Mac can't find see in and it's not a Firewall issue.
2. I can see the brother printer in Finder's Shared devices: so it sees it but refuses to interact.
I have a Active Directory user that cannot log onto any computer that's on my organizational domain. The error is "You cannot log on because the logon method you are using is not allowed on this computer"

View 1 Replies View RelatedHave a school which is split into 2 domains (and 2 different subnets). A logged in windows domain user from domain A needs to access a windows share on domain B. So I made a bat file on the pc in domain A to map a drive to the share on domain B, using the net use command but specifying login credentials of a domain user from domain B.The pc on domain A has it's hosts file edited so it can access the server on domain B which the share is on, ping and everything to this server works fine.I created a user in domain B with the corresponding login details as in the batch file, same un and pwd, it didn't work. If I specify the un and pwd in the batch file as the domain admin account on domain B, it works fine everytime. I'm pretty sure it's not a premissions thing as I have given the inital user that I specified in the batch file full control to the share permissions and security permissions on the share in question, it still wouldn't work.
All I can think of, but can't put into good technical words, is that this user I am specifying in the batch file not only needs to have access to the share itself but has to enter the other domain as well, would there be some protocol or something in which it does not have permissions to use effictively but the domain admin clearly does as it works fine for domain admin?

Dad's work laptop (XP) will no longer connect to any wifi at all. I removed the Intel PRO/set wireless utility so it would default to windows, enabled the Wireless Zero Config. It will acknowledge the network, attempt to get an IP address from the network for 1 minute, then it rotates down to the next network SSID in queue (I have 3 SSID's in our house). When it reaches the end, it just goes back to the "Windows is not connected to any wireless networks" message.
i configured a network domain out of which i connected several machines to a single user via 8 port switch. earlier the machine was working. now a days when i log on to server through user it allows me to log on. i am having two problem. i am no longer able to see the entire network on server. when i try to connect to server, the user machine asks user name and password which is quite routine. when i provide user name and password it gives the message that "logon unsuccessful the username and password are the same which you entered at user logon" when enter the user name and password of server it allows me to go inside. after rebooting the problem persists.

In 2004 I had a small home network of an NT4 domain controller with a 98 client and an XP client and an NT4 workstation laptop.ll was fine with the NT4 server providing a central store and print queue for a networked laser.Over time the laptop has been replaced with a Win7 (which will access the files but really doesn't the NT4 domain.) The Win98 has died and now finally the NT4 sever has gone too.I intend to revert now to a workgroup type set-up and forget about domains (I don't need it really) My problem is if I remove my XP machine from the domain I loose all the program menu, shortcuts desktop etc. which are stored under the domain user name login.Can I retrieve these or at least look at them so I can set up the local XP administrator account with all my familiar stuff.
