This is the first time i've posted an issue with tech support, i currently manage a Windows Server 2008 DC with 15-20 clients running Windows 7.
The issue i am having here is that the printers that are networked are printing extremely slow. Printing as a domain admin seems to be nice and quick as it should. I just cant get my head round it being so slow for the clients.
I'm having a problem with my internet. My old modem broke so I took it back to get a new one from Comcast. The new modem works but it's having problems. The download speed is very spiky and random. If I reset my modem, it goes back up to it's average speed (25mb/s) and stays that way as a constant for a little bit. Then it randomly starts spiking between 1-10mb/s and my internet (especially while gaming) gets extremely laggy. I can restart the modem again and the speed goes back to normal, but it always slows back down again. I've tried connecting the modem to the computer directly and the speeds are the same, so it rules out a problem with my router. [code]
I've been having this issue since I set up my service and am stumped. Although the ethernet connection runs at close-to-top speed (768k/sec), my wireless connection is incredibly slow on all my devices (Two PCs, HTC Titan, Asus Eepad). Browsing is an exercise in frustration and downloads top out around 95k if I'm lucky. I'm using an Actiontec GT784WN (my own modem/router) with Verizon DSL. I've also tried using two USB adapters, a Belkin and a T-Link with the same results.
when I test at Speedtest.com, my speeds appear to be at full, 768k down/24k up and my ping is always under 60ms.
I recently purchased one simply because we needed a wireless router with my roommate using a new laptop. Installation went by without a hitch but when it came to actually using the internet, it was so sluggish that it was impossible to use, on either computer. In fact, I had to disconnect the router and go directly from the modem to even make this post.
I've upgraded the firmware and I thought it was fixed because the internet seemed to be moving at a decent pace (loading pages, speed tests), but then it went back to moving incredibly slow if not timing out altogether. There was a problem with random disconnects but that was something that the firmware upgrade did seem to fix outright.

I am seeing something pretty bizarre: when trying to copy files between two computers (both Windows 7 SP1 64bit), both physically plugged into the back of the E4200, I see extremely slow transfer speeds: 1.0-1.1 MB/sec. Both computers are fast (i7-2600K, both using SSDs) and both have gigabit ports (and the 4200's web UI shows both ports in question as operating in gigabit mode).
This is so slow as to be sort of funny. Each of these computers see speeds well in excess of that when transferring between the computer and outside internet sites...so it's kind of funny that two computers plugged into the same switch in the back of the 4200 see 1 MB/second.
I saw one post recommending to changing the MTU from 1500 to 1400. That did absolutely nothing. My comcast internet is now slower than 14.4 dial up modem I had 16 years ago. The strange thing is I can sometimes download at over 2 mbps with torrents. It's mainly loading websites where the speed is so bad.
My customer has multiple sites, each with a 2504 WLC.A data center with a 5508 in the DMZ acting as Anchor for the remote sites.ACS 5.x and NCS Prime. All guest users will egress to the internet via a Vlan in the DMZ.Authentication is currently web-auth on the Anchor, but will move to NCS once that is fully deployed.
Is it possible to put a printer in each site for Guest WLAN users to use?
We have almost 500 users and theres a network printer which people have to add eachone of them if they want to print and thats a procedure and takes time to show everyone all the steps. I wanted to know because we are using a domain which all pics are connected on that domain also the printer how is it possible to make it that the printer is shown on all automaticly?
I have an office with only 5 workstations running XP Pro and Win7.. Connected to a domain server running SBS2003. We have a network printer (Konica Minolta Bizhub C253) that everyone prints to. The problem is that it takes nearly 2 minutes just to print even a Windows test page.. All of our workstations use Terminal Services to log into the server. If we print from the local side- it goes right through with no issues. Printing through terminal services takes too long. Is there a simple way to fix this? We have just a basic 12 port switch connecting everyone, I've tried replacing that and I still have the same issue. I've made absolutely sure that its nothing simple, like a driver or connectivity issue.
I have a WLC 4404 with LWAPs, the customer has a microsoft LDAP and all users are joined to the domain and he wants the users to be authenticated against their domain accounts and this should be done automatically so that when users login to windows they are also authenticated and joined the WLAN.so how we can do that with the simplest way, without Radius server using only the LDAP and wwithout envolving any certificates.also i need to know when i add LDAP server to the WLC, how can i know that this LDAP is properly inegrated with the WLC?
that big network has DHCP server which give ip addresses to clients and manage their internet.in one of this companies because of security matters they set up a domain network for themselves .problem is this if they use main DHCP their systems get ip in form of 172.16.58.x and boot up slowly it takes about 3 min to network indicator appears near clock and also they get into problem when ever they want to add a shared printer.but if they get ip address from DHCP and set that ip address and subnet mast and gateway manually the same as main DHCP server and only change dns server to theirs DC controller ip address every thing will work properly .but problem is they must set their ip addresses automatically.that is DHCP ip address sample
I live in a house with 5 other students. To be fair, it is in the middle of nowhere so the internet is probably very slow anyway, but here is my problem: Skype is so slow I can only just make a voice call, webcam chat is off the cards. YouTube and other videos are so slow to load I cannot watch them. My Xbox 360 constantly disconnects from the wireless, so I cannot play online.
I have a WRT160NV3. When more than 1 member of the family is using a device it gets really slow. For example, we have 3 laptops and a PS3. When the PS3 is being used for online play and someone gets online to watch videos, etc it is extremely slow. Is there an update to the router or do I need to upgrade?
We have an ethernet port on Cisco router 1800 connected to the ADSL modem. The router does ip nat translation, but users complained it is slow when they access to internet. [code]
As of last night my router has been producing slow connectivity when multiple users are connected to it, but it's perfectly fine when only one user is connected. I am on a laptop myself, but we also have a second laptop and a desktop where the modem and router are set up. I have upgraded the firmware so that is up to date. We have Comcast Fiber Optics so my internet speed is normally quite fast even when all of my computers are connected.
I am using DHCP Configuration. My Channel Width is set to 20 MHz and I am using Channel 11. The Security Mode is set to WPA Personal. I had it on WPA2 Personal but I read that changing to WPA Personal might work and so far it doesn't seem to have done anything. I set the Beacon Interval to 50, Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, and RTS Threshold to 2304. Everything else is set to the default factory configuration.
Just today I received a notice that said "Windows has detected an IP Address Conflict", but ever since I reinstalled the Firmware it hasn't come back. I've rebooted both my laptop and the desktop to confirm it hasn't come back as well. I've tried everything that I could think of including reconfiguring my router and restarting my modem as well.
The scenario I am facing is, trying to have the ability to print from my laptop computer remotely to my home printer which supports IPP.What I did so far was to make sure that I enabled IPP in the printer. So the URL is 192.168.1.101:631. (I am able to connect and print to the printer on local network usinghttp://192.168.1.101:631.) I then went into my router and enabled port forwarding for that address and made sure to specify port 631. It doesn't work. I took the following steps: (It works neither with XP or 7)Windows 7 Steps:1. Start-Devices and Printer2. Add a printer3. Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer4. Clicked "The printer that I want isn't listed5. Choose "Select a shared printer by name" Below is the scheme I followedWhat is the proper way of setting this to function properly so that I can print to my computer remotely. I want to be able to print to the printer directly and not through a server or another computer. Is this even possible?
I need to be VPN'd in to work all day but during the day I need to print to my home network printer. The work around has always been to press print then disconnect from VPN, wait for the document to finish then reconnect VPN. This is starting to get on my nerves and I was hoping that there was a way to be on VPN through my physical LAN and maybe print over my wireless network. Is there a way to separate traffic in Windows 7?
My printer is hard wired to my wireless router, allowing me to print wirelessly from my laptop. After successfully printing this way, it is no longer working. I have tried re-installing the software, however, it is unable to "find" the printer. I have tried this from 2 laptops with no success. My wireless router appears to be working as far as internet.
I'm having trouble printing from anything other than "windows desktop 1" (exclude "xbox 360 & Apple TV) So I need to know how to setup printing on the "macbook pro", "Windows laptop" & "windows desktop 2" These computer (except the macbook) all were connected once and I did have home group successfully connected to share the printer between them all as long as "windows desktop 1" was on. But now there in the setup in the pic and the home group and printers don't communicate with each other anymore.
From my Dell Vostro laptop I can connect to the internet but cannot print wirelessly on any of my three printers. The Mac computer in the house works on one printer. Not really sure where to start working on this problem.
A weird issue that came up a couple weeks ago, about 15 users that print to network printer via IP. The printer is attached to a print controller with all print jobs are spooled to. So when a user prints, lets say three pages, it spools to the windows queue and each page takes about 1.5min to get to the print controller queue, when it would only take a few seconds to spool. Different switches, print drivers..etc have been tried and narrow it down to one thing. When working with the NAS server plugged into the switch, that's when it takes long but when unplug from the NAS, prints come out fast like normal. how to find out if the NAS is broadcasting some crazy traffic? but it seems that it's only affecting this printer, other printers that don't have a controller print out fine and fast.
A friend has asked me to work with him set up a new office. He already has a PC and a phone line but not broadband, so he is going to organise that and getting a wireless router. He wants a wireless colour laser printer so that his visitors/guests can print easily from his office, or the next office. Does he really need a wireless printer to do this? Or if I plug a network printer directly into his router with an Ethernet cable, same with his PC, will that enable laptop users to print wirelessly (assuming they know the router passphrase of course)? I guess they would need to install the relevant printer driver to do this too.
I have walked into a company that has several small (1-4 PC's each) remote locations, and they all connect to Terminal Server to use our POS app. This app will not keep redirected printers saved between each session, so in order to save the printers, they have software VPN's set up on each client, then the local printers are installed on the server through a Local Port using the VPN ipaddressprinter share name. This allows the printers to be saved in the program and not re-assigned each session. Now, let's say that I have implemented a new desktop replacement procedure, and we are now in phase one of said procedure. I have purchased Windows 7 64-bit desktops. After setting up my deployment standards and testing in-house, I placed one of these PC's in the field. This is where I learned the issues of printing from a 32-bit server to a 64-bit client. I have not been able to successfully print to the printer installed on the server using the Local Port of the client, print job errors out. I have done some research, and found the issues with printing from 32-bit to 64-bit, and have installed all the additional drivers I can find, with no success.
I am trying to protect the computing assets on a perimeter firewalled / protected LAN from visiting laptops while still permitting the laptops wifi internet access and printing priviledges on the LAN's networked HP printer To do that I was thinking of setting up a computer as a dedicated firewall with 3 NICs (external internet, internal LAN and a DMZ for a Guest wifi router for use by the visiting laptops). (Will probably use free Untangle Firewall software software or such on the dedicated firewall computer). What I can't figure out is the firewall's topology, IP ranges and rules / forwarding that would permit such laptop operation.I would think it would be a common need for small offices but can't find much material on the subject.I do understand that such would slightly weaken the firewall but feel that I would gain more security overall.
Shared printer not printing. Have two PCs, one with Vista OS with the printer connected and the other XP, both connected via network sharing. I cannot print from the XP PC. It says I do not have permission even though I have shared the printer.
I've tried scanning for viruses, using winsock fix (they had a static ip I also set to automatic since they should not need it). I just turned off the firewall as well, tried "selective startup" and unchecked "load startup items" and nothing has worked so far. We're working on giving them another computer but I'd like to know why this happens.
I've been having an issue with all the printers and print servers on my network. They work great with my wife's computer which runs XP, but my computer which runs 7 won't print. Tried a Cat 6 cable on one and got some results.
Im having some printing issues whenever im working on the terminal server. If I try to print a document out in "landscape", it will print out "portrait", seen though it displays properly in landscape in the print preview. If Im working locally on my PC, it prints out fine.
