To be fair, it is in the middle of nowhere so the internet is probably very slow anyway, but here is my problem: Skype is so slow I can only just make a voice call, webcam chat is off the cards. YouTube and other videos are so slow to load I cannot watch them. My Xbox 360 constantly disconnects from the wireless, so I cannot play online.

- I am able to ping internet addresses from the 2801 router
- I am not able to ping internet addresses from userlaptop but I am able to ping LAN gateway (192.168.254.254)
I cannot understand why the internet requests from the user laptopuser are not routed to the internet but the router itself can access the internet.

I'm currently undergoing CCNa academy so I got a "job" from my boss to configure Cisco 871 router. Unfortunately we just finished first semester at academy so there are some things that I'm still having hard time to understand. I managed to configure router so it connect to internet or to be exact it has internet access through another adsl modem that is in bridge mode. url...The problem is that users are not able to use internet when connected to this router. I'm able to access router through telnet ( ip 192.168.13.10) but that's it.192.168.13.0 255.255.255.128 is network that we use at work. 192.168.13.5 is IP address that is assigned to zyxel adsl modem ( If I'm correct, we could have used any address here since we are connecting this directly to router ? ) Zyxel adsl modem is connected to FA4 port on Cisco router. LAN cable is connected to FA0 port and from there it goes to switch ( it's some asus switch with 50 ports). [code]
If I ping google dns from router e.g. ping 8.8.8.8 it works. If I ping url... it doesn't work. Also I'm able to access router via 192.168.13.10 but if I use router as default gateway then I'm not able to access the internet.
I have a WRT160NV3. When more than 1 member of the family is using a device it gets really slow. For example, we have 3 laptops and a PS3. When the PS3 is being used for online play and someone gets online to watch videos, etc it is extremely slow. Is there an update to the router or do I need to upgrade?

As of last night my router has been producing slow connectivity when multiple users are connected to it, but it's perfectly fine when only one user is connected. I am on a laptop myself, but we also have a second laptop and a desktop where the modem and router are set up. I have upgraded the firmware so that is up to date. We have Comcast Fiber Optics so my internet speed is normally quite fast even when all of my computers are connected.
I am using DHCP Configuration. My Channel Width is set to 20 MHz and I am using Channel 11. The Security Mode is set to WPA Personal. I had it on WPA2 Personal but I read that changing to WPA Personal might work and so far it doesn't seem to have done anything. I set the Beacon Interval to 50, Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, and RTS Threshold to 2304. Everything else is set to the default factory configuration.
Just today I received a notice that said "Windows has detected an IP Address Conflict", but ever since I reinstalled the Firmware it hasn't come back. I've rebooted both my laptop and the desktop to confirm it hasn't come back as well. I've tried everything that I could think of including reconfiguring my router and restarting my modem as well.

restricting access to internet for roughly 20 users. Right now we are connected using broadbandand using dhcp as assigned by common switch. All pc's are in a common workgroup. recommend me the hardware / software required to restrict this access.

I have configured and tested an ASA-5505 that will be deployed at a customer's home. The ISP cable modem will connect to the E0 (outside) interface of the ASA. All other interfaces on the ASA are configured for the inside network 192.168.5.0/24. I have created a VPN site-to-site tunnel between this ASA and the UC540 to allow 192.168.5.0/24 subnet access to the internal networks on the UC540.
The user has requested that all the network devices used by the rest of the family will only need to connect to the Internet. They will not need access to the VPN tunnel and they will not need access to the computers on the 192.168.5.0/24 inside network. I was planning on performing the following tasks to get this to work.
We have a Cisco 3750 stack connecting to the MPLS router, able to ping 8.8.8.8 - [URL], the internal users on their own Vlan can ping the default gateway the 3750 switch but no further, trace route from the PC/Servers stops at the 3750 stack.We have the switch configured to ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 to the public interface in the MPLS router, from the switch I'm able to ping the internet.

The issue i am having here is that the printers that are networked are printing extremely slow. Printing as a domain admin seems to be nice and quick as it should. I just cant get my head round it being so slow for the clients.
I currently set up two LAN networks. But one of them (Router 2) will be open (no password). Will this create a security compromise? Can the Router 2 Users access information of users of Router 1?

I want to be able to use a cable to connect to net on my desktop while allowing my bro to connect to net on his laptop through the wi-fi. I have a normal setup of ASA5505 (without security license) connected behind an internet router. From the ASA5505 console I can ping the Internet. However, users behind the Firewall on the internal LAN, cannot ping the Internet even though NATing is configured. The users can ping the Inside interface of the Firewall so there is no internal reachability problem. In addition, I noticed that the NAT inside access list is not having any hit counts at all when users are trying to reach the internet.
When i replace the ASA5505 with a router with NAT overload configuration on it, the setup works normally and users are able to browse the internet.
The ASA5505 configuration is shown below.

We are having several issues with the new batch of RV016 (rebranded as cisco and with cisco firmware. The Cisco RV016’s are configured to load balance aDSL internet access from 4 Cisco 877 modems/routers. Ports used are WAN1, WAN2, WAN3, WAN4.
Issues are: WAN 1 port resets to 0.0.0.0 regularly and traffic on WAN 1 fails DNS fails regularly behind the RV016 onlyIntermittent internet connection behind the RV016Slow internet connection behind the RV016Extremely slow DNS query and reply behind the RV016 (DNS resolve takes 1min -1m30)
The issues above are reported from different deployment sites and with different scenarios.

We have ASA 5540. We setup Site-to-Site VPN and Remote Access VPN (Cisco VPN client). If are running full tunnel on the Cisco VPN client, the internet access is slow. For example, when we are running full-tunnel, the internet speed is 16 Mbps based on Speedtest.net. When we go to Speedtest.net, some of the graphics do not load. If we are running Split-tunnel, the internet access speed is 78 Mbps based on Speedtest.net and the Speedtest.net web site loads all the graphics.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a file server running windows 2003 and five computers (1 windows 7, 4 windows xp-sp3).There are two shares on the server.When the router is setup with wpa2, three of the windows xp machines will have problems with mapped drives. Directly after the drives are mapped, everything works, but 10 or so hours later, users can no longer access these mapped drives and there is no way to reconnect them it seems.The other two machines (windows 7 and one windows xp machine) have no problems whatsoever.
The only thing that the three computers have in common is that they are also sharing a printer (an hp j4680) attached to one windows xp machine (not the server).If I set everything to wpa, everything works fine, but of course my wireless network speeds drop to 56mbps.

and remote server 100.100.100.25 routed to interface fa0/0. So the problem is that hosts from V lan 1 and V lan 2 want to communicate to this server, but they cannot route, which means, that I have to "give" them some IP from their range as fake address of this server and translate it. So I did
ip nat outside source static 100.100.100.25 10.10.10.7 (for Vlan 1)
ip nat outside source static 100.100.100.25 20.20.20.7 (for Vlan 2)
but I get
% 100.100.100.25 already mapped (10.10.10.7 -> 100.100.100.25)
As far as I understand router doesn't allow this translation, because if the communication would be started from outside (initial packet would come from server side), router wouldn't know how to translate its source address.
My boss want me to configure a cisco router 1800 series to an IP VPN, but I don't know how to configure a router with an IP VPN...
