Cisco Firewall :: ASA5510 Any Way For Users To Not Get Disconnected / When One Device Fails
Jul 8, 2012I want to set-up a HA for ASA5510. I wanted to design the network to achieve HA. I am attaching the present set-up of the network. At present, I have 2 ISPs connections terminating in ASA5510. The configuration is done for failover in ASA5510.I have another ASA5510 and want to use it for HA. I needed to know the design for the set-up. I want a stateless failover since the amount of traffic is less. I don't have any ISP routers in the present network. I suppose I need 2 routers for HA and couple of switches. One more question is that, as there are SSL VPN users, is there any way for the users to not get disconnected when one device fails.

The issue i am having here is that the printers that are networked are printing extremely slow. Printing as a domain admin seems to be nice and quick as it should. I just cant get my head round it being so slow for the clients.

Jul 9, 2011How to host my website from home? So I am half way through this process. I have created a domain name [URL] I have used zoneedit's free DNS server as I cant be bothered setting one up for what I want to do. Now I have my external ip "eg.eg.eg.eg" which i entered into the configuration on zoneedit. I then typed www.mydomainname.net.au into google chrome and I am prompted for my Thompson gateway (my modem/Router) username and password. This I enter and i find my self being able to configure the settings for my router over the internet from my domain name....this makes me go huh? I also tryed using the free dyndns.org with exactly the same results. I have no idea what I am supposed to do next anyway. Btw the website I am trying to host is a Joomla 1.6.3 so I would need to run a WAMP Server as well, but if I have troubles with that I can ask the Joomla Forums.So my main question is what on earth do I do now. Perhaps I need to do something with the ports or settings in my router, and where do I even put the files for the wesite and I do not mean to insult anyone I just don't want to be plainly stating my external ip on the web (i know it is visible on any website i go to) whilst it is linked to my router settings.

Aug 2, 2012I have a network domain with 2 domain controllers running windows server 2008. At some point the DNS name for one of the servers got messed up and they stopped talking to each other even though they are on fixed IPs. The DNS problem has been fixed, but they haven't started communicating again. While the DNS was messed up the domain controllers kept running a different copy of the network. The DFS stopped replicating, the users lists fragmented and the network separated into two "shadow domains" with the same name. DC1 says it is healthy, but it claims DC2 is offline. DC2 claims it is healthy but DC1 is offline. I don't even know where to begin repairing this rift.

I want to run a main server where all the files are on that computer and have it share all the files to everyone else on the network. I'm not too familiar with Windows workgroup networking and file sharing.I want to have certain files accessible to certain computers and certain files accessible to everyone on the network. I'm under the impression that I have to have the main server with all the business documents. Then create separate accounts on the server and hand them out to each individual computer. After, go to each document and specify who can access what with read/write. Can I share some files to everyone and have certain files limited to other computers at the same time? How would someone access the shared files when you need a login and will this login conflict with files shared to everyone and files shared to certain people. I remember on my small business network I need a login for certain computers because it is shared to only certain people then how would I access the files shared to everyone when I have to login to see the server files to begin with?

Nov 28, 2011I have a issue that i am at a loss as how to solve it. I have an ASA 5505 as my firewall. I have users from other companies who visit from time to time and are unable to use their outlook email to send messages. They can however receive messages without a problem. I also have a situation where users who use windows live to access gmail are unable to send messages.
I have narrowed it down to the fact that these uses are using ssl/tls to send the mails. I did some research and found out about the inspect esmtp setting in the ASA. I have disabled it and i still have to problem. I have also removed all outbound deny statements and still no luck.
Of note is that i can send emails without attachments. They take a long time to go out ( from minutes to hours) but eventually they do. Emails with attachments of even 10k do not go at all.
I was running image 8.2.3 and i downgraded to 8.0.5...still did not work...i upgraded to 8.4.3...still did not work. I am now back at 8.2.3.
My Firewall config is attached. I am at my wits end as to what else to try. The company has not renewed support for the device so i am on my own here!

Sep 6, 2012For my Lan, I have created two Vlan; Vlan 10 = for Users and Vlan 20 = For Database Servers,There are 15 Lan computer/laptop and 5 SQL database server (Dell Server) connected through same 24 port cisco 2960 switch. Means, 15 + 5 port occupied.
I have applied access list on cisco switch to restrict communication between vlan 10 and vlan 20.But My main purpose to create two Vlan is not for any kind of communication or restriction. My main Purpose is that Users traffic do not distrub or choke or affect the Database servers. then what will i need to do for that is VLAN Concept is sufficient for my concern OR I will need to buy seperate Cisco Switch to connect 5 database servers OR Else ?
Cisco Firewall :: Mask DMZ Servers From Private Servers And LAN ASA 5520
Jun 11, 2013We are planning to split the Private servers from the DMZ Servers and configure an additional Interface and segment for this purpose.
Private Servers Segment: 192.168.4.0/24 (there is no DHCP all servers' IPs are statically configured)
DMZ Segment: 192.168.3.0/24 (This is a future deployment)
LAN Segment: 172.17.0.0/16
Both, Private Servers and DMZ Servers are in a collocation as well as the ASA5520. There are multiple Branch offices that uses subnets within the 172.17.0.0/16 Network and they are connected to the ASA5520 via Metro-E.
I do not know if this is possible but what I want to do is this:
In order to avoid the change of internal DNS records I want to mask the DMZ servers with a Private Server IP when a Private server or LAN host wants to access it like this:
The FTP server in the DMZ has the IP address: 192.168.3.100. But when a PC from the LAN wants to reach the FTP server it should points to its old IP: 192.168.4.100. This way the PC sends a packet to the ftp.corporate.net (192.168.4.100) the ASA recieves the packet and translate it to the (192.168.3.100) and send it out through the DMZ Interface.
Also if the Private Servers wants to reach the same FTP the ASA will act like a proxy-ARP and send the paquet to the DMZ by means of the translation of the IP.

Anyways, only sometimes when my wife is surfing the net do we both get disconnected. i have a 2wire Gateway (I thought it was also a modem/router). It doesn't seem to DC us when shes playing like xbox games (windows 8 on the ultrabook)...but when she gets on the internet it does it..but not all the time. I was thinking maybe it was DCing because we were putting to much on the gateway.
