View 2 RepliesI am taking a college course using Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Administrator Lab Manual. I have VirtualBox installed. I am a completely new to servers and networking
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a network domain with 2 domain controllers running windows server 2008. At some point the DNS name for one of the servers got messed up and they stopped talking to each other even though they are on fixed IPs. The DNS problem has been fixed, but they haven't started communicating again. While the DNS was messed up the domain controllers kept running a different copy of the network. The DFS stopped replicating, the users lists fragmented and the network separated into two "shadow domains" with the same name. DC1 says it is healthy, but it claims DC2 is offline. DC2 claims it is healthy but DC1 is offline. I don't even know where to begin repairing this rift.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow to host my website from home? So I am half way through this process. I have created a domain name [URL] I have used zoneedit's free DNS server as I cant be bothered setting one up for what I want to do. Now I have my external ip "eg.eg.eg.eg" which i entered into the configuration on zoneedit. I then typed www.mydomainname.net.au into google chrome and I am prompted for my Thompson gateway (my modem/Router) username and password. This I enter and i find my self being able to configure the settings for my router over the internet from my domain name....this makes me go huh? I also tryed using the free dyndns.org with exactly the same results. I have no idea what I am supposed to do next anyway. Btw the website I am trying to host is a Joomla 1.6.3 so I would need to run a WAMP Server as well, but if I have troubles with that I can ask the Joomla Forums. So my main question is what on earth do I do now. Perhaps I need to do something with the ports or settings in my router, and where do I even put the files for the wesite and I do not mean to insult anyone I just don't want to be plainly stating my external ip on the web (i know it is visible on any website i go to) whilst it is linked to my router settings.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRedirecting a Domain to a IP:Port I host game servers for friends and strangers alike, but i'd like to make it easier for them all and give them dedicated IPs. Right now I include domain redirecting, but to connect to their server, they have to put in "example.com:xxxxx", x meaning their servers dedicated port. Is there any way that I can redirect a domain directly to "IP:Port"?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a port channel between HP servers (4 nic) and two nexus 2k. The server side its a single team with 803.2ad fault taulerence and on the nexus side it have created two port channel (port channel 1 for nexus 2k1 and port channel 2 for nexus 2k2) and made them ACTIVE (channel group mode active)
But when i add a another server on different ports and port channel them the same way as the above server on nexus 2k1 and nexus 2k2, the first server stops pinging. so i have to sht down the first port channel and reopen them - then it works, however it says NO NETWORK ACCESS on the servers (running windows 2008). the only way is to reboot the server i cant be doing this on a production network.
On C6500 series I have to create a separate community to send a SNMP trafic for a couple of gig interfaces. The user that will collect these informations has a Monitoring server and is only interested in monitoring traffic on those link and maybe pps.
I understood to create a an ACL pointing to his IP of the server, and that create a community and associate this access list with that community. Those commands I have, but I need to send the user the MIBs or other relevant info on how to collect and forbid everything else but thos interfaces.Do I need to give the SNMP HOST command and associate with this community after that.
I have 3 machines running windows XP, they all belong to my company's domain. These machines have to leave our office but still have to be able to connect to each other and share a few folders on each. I used to do this all the time. I would make sure to turn on the "Server" service, set the windows firewall to allow File and Printer sharing, set the File and Printer sharing setting in the Local Area Connection properties, and set the proper sharing/security of the specific folder. Then as long as each machine used a specific local logon name that was the same on each machine, they would all connect to the shares and work perfectly. However now, I seem to not be able to get any of this to work on machines that have service pack 3. Is there something in sp3 that breaks this?Isn't there a way to still share files on these sp3 machines even though I'm not on the domain? (without changing the domain membership)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have installed the Cisco ACS 4.2 in a server running Windows 2003 Server, and this server is member server of the domain. The ACS is working whit a Wireless Platform 4400, and authenticating to the Wireless Users using PEAP and Digital Certificate. But now, the windows platform will be upgraded to Windows 2008. My doubt are the following:
1. The ACS running in a windows 2003 server, will authentificate users in the new windows 2008 domain?
2. At the beginning, the ACS and the Windows domain was 2003. Now whit the change of the version of windows domain, What happens whit the configuration of the acs server as member server? I need reconfigure the member server configuration in the ACS Server?
