Cisco Firewall :: Mask DMZ Servers From Private Servers And LAN ASA 5520
Jun 11, 2013
We are planning to split the Private servers from the DMZ Servers and configure an additional Interface and segment for this purpose.
Private Servers Segment: 192.168.4.0/24 (there is no DHCP all servers' IPs are statically configured)
DMZ Segment: 192.168.3.0/24 (This is a future deployment)
LAN Segment: 172.17.0.0/16
Both, Private Servers and DMZ Servers are in a collocation as well as the ASA5520. There are multiple Branch offices that uses subnets within the 172.17.0.0/16 Network and they are connected to the ASA5520 via Metro-E.
I do not know if this is possible but what I want to do is this:
In order to avoid the change of internal DNS records I want to mask the DMZ servers with a Private Server IP when a Private server or LAN host wants to access it like this:
The FTP server in the DMZ has the IP address: 192.168.3.100. But when a PC from the LAN wants to reach the FTP server it should points to its old IP: 192.168.4.100. This way the PC sends a packet to the ftp.corporate.net (192.168.4.100) the ASA recieves the packet and translate it to the (192.168.3.100) and send it out through the DMZ Interface.
Also if the Private Servers wants to reach the same FTP the ASA will act like a proxy-ARP and send the paquet to the DMZ by means of the translation of the IP.
i'm trying to connect 5 servers together to create a private network. Each server has a network of it's own and i'm trying to make all 5 servers communicate with each other to share and search data simultaneously..
We can´t reach DMZ servers from other DMZ servers? If I make a ping from DMZ server to another, sometimes only recieve one ping, sometimes 4, sometimes 0.How can I allow the traffic between DMZ servers??
Since several weeks ago we are triyng to solve a disconnection problem related to servers benind an ASA 5520 behind this ASA there are:
-subnet with public ip addres
-sunbet with prive ip address, the server on this subnet are acccesible via NAT.the problem is worst when some ousite our network and behind a nat device (like a adsl modem/router) tries to connect to those servers wich are using natted ip behind the ASA.I tried from my home to connect to this ASA5520 using annyconnect and get reset tcp packets. Are there some aditional configuration to make the ASA work properly?. We have other firewalls like PIX or software firewall (ASG), they work with no problem. Only the ASA 5520 has this issue.
I have installed quite recently a cisco ASA 5520 replacing a linux based firewall I have only 2 zones ..one is internal netowrk and other external the internal network has web servers, dns and mail server all having public IPs Every thing is OK but i have seen that if I try to ping an external server for example [URL] i cannot ping says
but I can ping from systems which are outside my firewall perfectly with the linux firewall i had before i could ping perfectly to yahoo from any of my internal servers?
I have a VPN with a number of servers where we are doing some software development. We have a TFS, Web, App and SQL Server etc.. inside a private LAN which is accessible via VPN. Nothing inside the private network can access outbound. However, I would like to open the Web Server on the private LAN to be able to be accessed via http(s).As we develop the software I want to access the site from the internet. It's a fairly simple setup.DSL > Modem > Home Lan. On the Home Lan I have a Server (2 ethernets) connected to the modem router and the other card to a hub. This server acts as the VPN server, DHCP etc.. for the Private LAN.The web server I want to be able to access from outside is the one inside the private network. Any recommendations?fyi, I'm not a networking guy, I hacked my way through setting up the private network through a number of great YouTube videos, that saved me a lot of time.
I Have exented vlan 120,121 from DC-1 to DC-2,the DC-1 and DC-2 are connected using L2 Trunk over fiber terminated on Cisco 6513 on both site ,the distance around 40 Km ,on the DC-2 i just assigned server-1 TO VLAN 120 while server-2 in vlan 121 ,but these servers unable to communicate neither with DC-1 Servers or betwen them locally on DC-2 ,pls note that the servers at dc-2 rely on DC-1 for routing.
I've got VPN connection from Cisco 877 to ASA 5520 and on the Cisco 877 I've got SIP device which doesn't has to go through VPN. I assume that for the best audio quality I should bypass the VPN and connect directly to the SIP servers, but how to configure it??
I am having some challenges on my DMZ network. My servers and Cisco Switches in the DMZ are picking the mac address of the Firewall(Cisco ASA).I have put some static arp entries on the Firewall and switches but the servers and users on the DMZ are still receiving the mac address of the Firewall. How can i stop the Firewall from changing the mac addresses of the devices on the network. My ASA is a 5520 and i have 2960Switches.
How to setup this Nat on an ASA 5520 running 8.3.2 code? I know this must be possible as I can do the same thing on my Check Point with no issues. I need to Nat two dmz mail servers to one public mx record. I will have an F5 to load balance inbound and outbound traffic from the mail servers. So I need to Nat two private IP’s to one public.
I'm trying to achieve a site-to-site ipsec tunnel to a Cisco ASA 5520. Most examples feature the ASA with a public interface that terminates the tuennel and a private network on another interface that the tunnel interacts with. Where my scenario differs is that the interface that accepts the tunnel is part of a public /29 network where I want the remaining hosts on that subnet to be able to route thrugh to the other end of the tunnel. My tunnel gets established, but any attempts to route via the IP assigned to that one interface result in the ASA rejecting traffic. If so, what configuration options should I consider?
New to the ASA 5505 8.4 software version, but here is what I'm trying to do:
-Single static public IP: 16.2.3.4 -Need to PAT several ports to three separate servers behind firewall -One server houses email, pptp server, ftp server and web services: 10.1.20.91 -One server houses drac management (port 445): 10.1.20.92 -One server is the IP phone server using a range of ports: 10.1.20.156
Basically, need to PAT the ports associated with each server to the respective servers behind the ASA 5505. Is anything missing from this config? Do I need to include a global policy for PPTP and SMTP? [code]
I have 2 modules of FWSM in 6500 switch (failover).I need 5 context. When I use in routed mode (like in the picture) , I cannot ping the servers behind the firewall. (I have ping to FW context),In transparent mode, it is not happening.what is the problem with routed mode?
I am in the process of adding a lot of servers to sit behind our new ASA 5505 (8.4) firewall. At the moment I have added 2 servers and they are both NAT'ed to 2 different public IPs.
Server 1 192.168.10.1 -> 80.*.*.1 Server 2 192.168.10.111 -> 80.*.*.6
The first server can only be RDP'ed in to using its public IP which is what I want it to do. The second one has most of the service ports open like 443, 80, 110, 25 and etc. However when I try and browse externally to [URL]. I get an " Error 107(net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): SSL protocol error." in Google Chrome or any other browser. and the ASA reports:11:27:30192.168.10.111262680.*.*.6443Inbound TCP connection denied from 192.168.10.111/2626 to 80.*.*.6/443 flags SYN on interface inside and I also get a Land to Land attack detected from 80.*.*.6 to 80.*.*.6
Is it worth setting up a DMZ or can I get away with the setup I have?
In my Cisco ASA 5550, I need to set two different syslogs servers, and I need to send the system logs to the first one (only admins login/logout), and the traffic logs and all the rest (informational level) to the second one. Do you know if is it possible or not and, if yes, how to configure it?
I have the following configuration: An ASA5505 with Security bundle license sits at the perimeter with a single public IP address assigned to VLAN2 (outside) out of a /29 block. I have two servers with static IP addresses of 10.70.21.6 and 10.70.21.7 connected to the inside ports with default gateway of 10.70.21.1 (which is the IP address for the VLAN1 inside). I have already configured a default static route and NATing (PAT) so we have internet connection for the PCs. Now I need to configure the ASA to allow remote desktop connection to the servers (with static IP addresses above). Can I use a spare public IP address for each server and if so, whats the syntax? or is there another method? I have used this before but I had a Cisco 2811 router on the perimeter so the syntax was at then: ip nat inside source static 10.30.1.248 81.85.199.44
Upgrading from a PIX 515 ,V6.2, I can get internet traffic out through the ASA , but no traffic in to the servers. The NATS are the same on the old firewall. The routers outside the firewalls are doing further natting from the .253 netwrok to a publilc address. No changes have taken place on the routers. [code]
I am trying to set up an ASA5550 so that I can access the servers behind it. Simple.
As of now, I am unable to even create an access-list to allow traffic from my remote IP into the firewall. As far as my level of experience with Cisco firewalls, it's basically zero but I have taken the Cisco CCNAX class and feel that I have a good understanding of the fundamentals. That said, we only dealt with routers and switches, and it's not impossible that I'm missing something that would be totally obvious to most folks on this board. I've used CLI and ASDM with no success.
I have a situation where we have a single DMZ server currently statically forwarded to a single public IP. TCP ports 80, 443, 8080, 8500, 53, and 21 are open to this server via an access list.
However, we have added an additional server to the DMZ, and because our web developers did not communicate with me beforehand, we are forced to use the same DNS name (thus, the same piblic IP) for this server. This server only needs traffic on TCP/8800 forwarded to it.
I am using ASDM 6.4 for configuration of this, as I am required to take multiple screen shots of the procedure for our change control policy.
My question lies in the reconfiguration of NAT/ PAT. Since our current server has a single static NAT to a single public IP, it is simply natted for "any" port. I understand that I can add the new server as an object, and only PAT it on TCP 8800, but will I then have to go back and reconfigure the first server multiple times for PAT, or will the ASA notice the specific PAT, and forward 8800 to the new server without affecting the existing "old" server?
It appears ASDM will not allow me to put multiple ports into a single network object. I am assuming I will need to add 6 separate object translations for the "old" server based on TCP port, and 1 object translation for the "new" server, correct?
I am having some trouble accessing some backup Email (Outlook Web Access) and Citrix servers located behind an ASA 5505 firewall at a remote datacentre. Simply put, when I go to the specific URL (e.g. [URL]) I do not arrive at the splash page, I just get a message saying that the server took too long to respond in the web browser. I'm wondering whether I have missed something on the configuration or the firewall itself is not letting my requests through. The remote servers are located at a remote Disaster Recovery site and use the subnet 192.168.4.0/24. I am at head office which is connected to the DR site via a VPN using 192.168.1.0/24.
We have a new installation of a ASA 5505 and are trying to get some NAT issues straightened out. On our internal network, we have two servers running Filemaker Server, a relational database server that clients connect with using port 5003. Our goal is to be able to allow users from the outside to access either of these servers as needed. I know how to set up a simple static NAT rule and matching Access rule in ASDM which would be fine for a case in which only one server using a given port is running on a network, but for simple static rules I seem to be blocked from entering a different translated port number from the orginal port number, which becomes a problem when two servers we need to access from the outside are running software using the same port number.
What is the simplest way to address this need? I am guessing that I need to set up a scenario like this, where port 5004 (or any arbitrarily choosen unused port, can be used to access the second server: [code]
I am on version 8.2(1) of ASA Code. When accessing a SQL server on a secure internal interface,(Traffic is sourcing from DMZ) i'm getting some timeouts on the initial connection on port 1433. All subsequent connections work fine. Packet tracer shows the connection builds properly, and shouldn't have a connectivity issue. The problem server is a webserver that connects back through the firewall to access the SQL server on port 1433. We also have many other webservers in the DMZ which access the same SQL server, but do not have the same timeout issues. Here are my timeouts, from the config
I have configured the ASA 5505 for internet access and outside users to use two servers in the DMZ. Every thing is working fine. When I was configure VPN, I did some mistake I guess, now inside users are not able to access internet. They get an error 405. Thats an error. The request method XXX is inappropriate for the URL /. Thats all we know. Even I am not able to access the server in the DMZ from outside and I get an error : Bad Request - Invalid HeaderThese things just happend after I did some thing on the ASA. I copy and pasted the my old configuration but still insider users are not able to connect to internet and from outside I am not ableto connect to server. The weired thing is that I can user VPN with out any issues. I can connect to vpn but I cant access any internal resources. Even inside users are able to ping internet addresses with out any issue.
We are going to setup a L2L VPN with a vendor and they asked us to NAT a couple IP addresses for remote access to a couple of servers on our inside network. Our device is an ASA 5580 with version 8.1 and we have a handfull of public IP addresses for use if needed. The vendor's remote network is a public IP address but for this posting I will use 192.168.10.0. Our inside servers are 10.100.10.20 and 10.100.10.30. Because 10.100.10 is in use with another customer they asked us to NAT 10.77.97.20 and 10.77.97.30 to the two inside servers.
Cisco ASA 5510 directly facing the internet on E0/0 (1 Public IP only) with internal LAN on E0/1. Exchange 2010 OWA working fine with ACL and NAT rules configured.Problem:
•1. Cannot publish internal web servers to outside, have tried PAT. •2. Have multiple web servers to publish with all on one protocol (HTTP) to a single public IP which I don’t know if it’s possible on a ASA. •3.When SSL VPN is configured with Local user database, connecting from Anyconnect client gives a certificate error. Upon viewing the certificate it points to the internal mail server.
Recently moved into the hardware firewall space and have a ASA 5510. Having some issues trying to get traffic through the box to my 4 dedicated servers. all the servers have static IP's and are connected to a private switch into one of the ethernet ports on the firewall(0/2). Public internet connection into another(0/0). 1 of my servers has a connection to the management port, and the public switch, and this is the one im trying to do the configuration on.
Im unsure what to set the IP address of my "outside" interface as. need to have RDP,FTP, HTTP traffic going to each of the 4 servers independently, pretty sure i can get the rules in place to allow this, but cant seem to get any traffic to go through the firewall to any of the other 3 servers.
What should I do to get the SIP and 8080 port working on my Public IP, likewise just as access from my browse the http://189.xxx.xxx.129:8080 and get through directly to my internal server 10.xx.xx.61 ?
I got the charge of a ASA 5510 running with 8.3(1) version.Found that this is simple config with Patting for inside host and couple of Static Nat for web servers and FTP server as well.
There is lots of other configuration being done,I assume for the purpose of just R&D by the previous administrator.I need to understand if the following Nat statements holding any relevance?
Where we are running Only NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.0.0/23 subnet at inside and there is no other subnet defined in rest of the statements.i.e 10.0.0.0/27 and 192.168.1.128/27 doesn't exist at all.
Is renewal charges of hardware firewall is high?I want to buy the hardware firewall for my office were about 20 comp are there and i heard that its renewal is very high is it true. i can spend rs 40-.50 k for firewall but it tough for me to pay renewal of 20 k every year, is this much high renewal i have to pay/
I have a cisco ASA5505, it runs a wide site to site VPN network and has 4 servers connected to it
10.50.15.4 > fileserver 10.50.15.5 > domain controller (exchange) 10.50.15.6 > terminal server 10.50.15.7 > terminal server
Now yesterday i removed 10.50.15.6 and replaced it with a new terminal server with the same ip address, ever since the ASA is blocking traffic between it and the domain controller (example)
2Oct 27 201214:51:0510600710.50.15.655978DNSDeny inbound UDP from 10.50.15.6/55978 to 10.50.15.5/53 due to DNS Query What has me baffled is the only thing different between today and yesterday is the new server is windows server 2008 and the old one was windows server 2003. The new server has the same LAN ip address as the old one to make the changeover seamless for the users.
why all the sudden my ASA has decided to block the traffic between those machines? all the other machines can talk to it fine just not the domain controller, and seeing that this is a terminal server naturally you can see the problem i face!
this router has worked flawlessly for 2 years now without any config changes and i cant work out why its blocking traffic between those 2 machines.
