I just got a new modem with built in router. and for the first few days i had my internet running pretty perfectly until recently when i just keep getting disconnected from it and then reconnected. i try to troubleshoot; it says that i DONT have a fixed DNS. i am pretty bad at networking.
I have to restart laptop and hit button on startup for wifi light to turn blue. Ipcofig says media disconnected. Tried resetting router and modem nothing working.
I am using a laptop in our small office, which has both a wired and a WiFi network (same network via an access point).
Most of the times I am connected to the wired, but never disable the WiFI. When I unplug the cable, in order to move around, I will like to know if it possible to maintain the connection to the network. I normally have a couple of applications that connect to a database open and when I unplug the cable, they crash and I have to re-open them again.
I have a Toshiba laptop (p-750) and a new TP-link TL-WR1043ND router. The router works fine with my smartphone and Sony PlayStation but my laptop is getting disconnected all the time.
I have a laptop - Lenovo E43 in which i tried to connect with wifi, when wireless nework connection is opened, it is showing No wireless networks were found in range. and when IPCONFIGured, Media state...:Media disconnected is displaying under the Ethernet adapter Wireless Network connection.
My computer keeps getting disconnected from the internet at random times. Every day it happens and resetting my computer works, or waiting about an hour or so. I have a static ipv4, 192.168.1.8 so i can port forward for a game server, and maybe someone else on my network gets the same ip because I don't know how to block people from using the same ip. Linksys router. Not sure what exact but do you need it?
My wife is using a laptop (wireless) and I am using a custom built PC. We have AT&T DSL I believe its a 6mb connection. Anyways, only sometimes when my wife is surfing the net do we both get disconnected. i have a 2wire Gateway (I thought it was also a modem/router). It doesn't seem to DC us when shes playing like xbox games (windows 8 on the ultrabook)...but when she gets on the internet it does it..but not all the time. I was thinking maybe it was DCing because we were putting to much on the gateway.
Desktop: Using ethernet...custom built PC (previous pc was a HP...same issue) Ultrabook: HP Envy 4-1115dx (previous laptop was a compaq...same issue) Gateway: 2Wire 2701 HG-B
Mine is connected to the router that is in my room, my big brothers pc cannot get a stable connection, when i access the Network and Sharing center, it says Local only and then when i try to repair it goes to local and internet access but then when the troubleshooter finishes it goes back to local only!?
My dad just had to send his Acer Aspire back to the manufacturer to get the fan replaced. It came back factory reset and would not connect to any internet wired or otherwise. He called me and I asked him to bring it over. I can get it to connect to via Ethernet at my house, however, wireless is a no go. The status bar goes between "no connection available" to showing my network with two bars. When I attempt to connect to my network I get the standard "Window was unable to connect to this network". I currently have another PC, a PS3, a smart phone, and a tablet all connected with no problem (and all at full bars), so I know it's not the router. I ran an ipconfig /all and this is what I got: [code] One thing I did notice is that my IP Routing Enabled was set to NO and when I looked at how to fix that it said to update a registry key.
I am having problems with my internet connection through my desktop but my laptops are still working. From searching this site it appears to be a media disconnected error. Most of the fixes I have seen have been for laptops but I am having trouble finding fixes for a desktop (ethernet connected). Can somebody attach a link if this has already been coverered (I am sure it has but I just can't find it). I have a Compaq computer running Vista Service Pack 2.
I have a logitec LAN-WH300ANDGR(not logitech) wireless router, it's been working fine for months. Yesterday I enabled port forwarding, but after that I kept getting disconnected from the internet.I updated the router, but no joy.So I disabled port forwarding but I still get disconnected and now I cannot access my router's webpage [URL] the page will not load.
I was able to connect smoothly to any preferred connections in my area including my own. But now, it doesn't let me connect wirelessly to any of them. Now I typed ipconfig and this is what showed up.
I have just upgraded a laptop to vista, I didn't have any internet connection until I used a dongle to connect, after connection, it downloaded drivers to computer. Wireless now works without the dongle. I have no wired connection as it says "Media Disconnected." If I look in device manager, everything is working fine. I have looked on the net & tried a lot of checking various things but still no connection on lan. This is on an old laptop a advent 7109A. It was working fine on all connections until I upgraded.
I got a new router, a Cisco Linksys EA3500, and everything works fine and no one else in my family notices anything wrong. Everything works and I don't have trouble accessing the internet, but whenever I play a game online it will disconnect me after a while. Sometimes it disconnects me after 5 minutes and sometimes after 30 minutes. I have this problem with every game I play, except for Runescape. The weird thing is that I talk to friends on steam when we are playing and it doesn't get disconnected I can hear them fine, and my internet access bar at the lower right doesn't say I'm disconnected.Streaming and downloading work as well.I tried to port forward and I assumed it would work but I still had the same disconnection problem. I tried to port forward again but this time I used the tool at portforward.com to check if they were forwarded properly and it said your port is not open or not reachable. I tried this with a lot of random ports and it said the same thing.
I have tried everything, port forwarding, switching wires, and resetting my router. NOTHING WORKS! I get disconnected every 15 minutes and i can even send messages to people.
I have been having issues with my wifi for the past one week, I earlier had a NETGEAR router which was 2 years old and keeps getting disconnected. I thought it could be a router problem and bought myself an edimax couple of days ago. This one is much worse, it keeps getting disconnected very 20 mins. I have an iMac, alienwareX51, think pad Lenovo, iPad, iPhone, ps3 and BB.
I randomly get disconnected from the online applications that I'm using.(Msn, skype, online games, etc.)And I'm running this program in the background to check what's going on.As you can see, everything is normal till I get 0 ping for a couple of times, then it immediately goes back to normal till it hits 0 ping again. It's very random, it happens on the 345th hop or 789th etc.I'm on a wi-fi connection but not using wireless modem. The cable's plugged to my computer.
my internet modem dc quite often i mean sometimes its 1 or 2 hours sometimes its not, so we are planning to switch the modem soon, but before that i found out something strange, its like in order for us to reconnect back to internet we have to reset the modem, heres the thing. after reset, my brother's pc will immediately connects back to teh internet, but mine pc wouldnt, i meanmy skype will work i can tlk to my friends on it and such, but i have to wait for like 5 mins or so to resume back to the net on firefox/ other internet dependent program, just not skype though.
when i open up my network connections tab, i see two icons: "Wireless network Connection" and "Local Area Connection"
It clearly says a cable is unplugged, but no cable is unplugged and i am 100% sure of that.
when i type "ipconfig" into command prompt, i see all these things that say "tunnel adapter Local area connection" and it says media disconnected.
how would i go about "Connecting" the media? i am concerned about this issue so much because, even though i can connect to the internet (ip:192.168.1.1) i cannot connect to my printer (ip:192.168.1.4) and when i tracert the printers ip it says "media disconnected" so i know the two errors correlate to one another.
I just installed the free vpn client spotflux. The connection works fine, but after I disable the vpn again windows 7 seems to not use my "normal" ethernet connection anymore. I'm pretty sure that it will use that connection if I deinstall spotflux again but how to configure windows to use the normal connection when the vpn is not connected?I've attached a screenshot of the LAN connection settings and the priority list - but still it doesnt seem to work. What am I doing wrong?
Can't connect to the wireless network that is in the next room but I can connect across the street, I keep getting the message that the LAN Media connection is DISCONNECTED on connection 2, the computer trys to RENEW the IP address but can never do it, I have run CMD propmts pconfig/release, ipconfig/renew, ipconfig/all nothing works for my home system yet my laptop is connected my tower is running on the guy across the street.

mapped network drive getting disconnected always.is there any batch file available to check the status every minute whether the drive is connected or not??
I have brought a broadband connection from a local ISP called YouBroadband. (I am from India, if you are wondering.) For the first month of my plan, I was having internet connection without any issues. But since 2nd month, I am experiencing a very strange problem. When I turn on my PC and connect to internet by entering my password, I do so without any problem. But after a few mnutes of connectivity, I loose my connection. Even stranger is the fact my Windows 7 Ultimate edition does not recognise this. It still shows connected sign in the notification area. But I am not able browse any more using any browser. to solve the problem, I start network troubleshooting, which in a few seconds shows, resetting 'Local Area Connection 2' and then I am able to log in again. At times this solution also doesn't work. All i can do at that time is shut down my PC, wait a few minutes and restart again. To my extreme dismay, this keeps happening over and over again. I connect, get disconnected, reconnect and again disconnect. This is terribly disturbing and annoying.
I have searched on Google with no success. I tried changing DNS server settings and put Google open DNS address as my preferred DNS server but that didn't solve the problem too.( I received this tip from a friend of mine.) Here's what I get when I type ipconfig/all in Command prompt-Windows IP Configuration[CODE]
Our router is a Dlink DGL-4500. Over the last 15 minutes I've been disconnected and reconnected about 5 or 6 times. This happens every so often. But even without it I get disconnected several times per day.I need to be able to stay online and for some certain programs to run, if they get disconnected I will have to reconnect manually and I can't do this if I am not near my computer.I think the problem is specific to my laptop. Most of the time I stay online ok, except for the lapses I've mentioned. I asked someone else in our house if they have been getting disconnected and they say they haven't. Here's an IPconfig and in the next quote box, I did an IPconfig/all>C:esults.txt, which I've posted the content of[CODE]
I recently did a recovery on my laptop and had to put everything back to factory settings (losing all my music, programs, etc) due to a hard disk issue that I couldn't fix otherwise. After several hours waiting for the process to finish I logged onto my laptop - a toshiba, and realized that my wifi isn't working. The computer says there is an issue with the LAN being disconnected, but my router is communicating fine with other devices. Also, the side switch that turns wifi on and off is lit up (indicating that it is on) despite the fact that Fn + F8 are not responding on my computer. Generally, the laptop cannot detect any wireless devices or routers.I did another system recovery after reading about the issue, and tried turning it on and off, etc, but with no success.
I had problems connecting to my wireless internet for extended periods of time with my lease expiring almost instantly. Nobody else in my house had trouble connecting, only me. Troubleshooting the connection only showed that the default gateway was not available and failed to allow me to connect despite "fixing" the problem. I attempted the ipconfig/renew, netsh int ip reset reset.log, and netsh winsock reset catalog operations in cmd as an administrator to no avail. Finally, as a last resort, I reset my modem and that finally allowed me to connect although occasionally I would be kicked off the connection and have to restart the modem again. I would still like to know the problem and a possible solution since my friends seem to have a similar problem with their wireless internet.
ipconfig/all before resetting the modem:

I have four Laptops, and also have SMCWBR14S-N4(SOHO) Wireless Routers. The issue is if i connect to my main Laptop all the other laptops gets disconnected. I have checked the mac filtering, reset the Router & reconfigured with new wireless settings still the issue persist. If i connect the Laptop to the modem main Laptop works fine.
I know there was an old thread with a similar problem, but that thread is closed and the answers didn't work for me. i am using an HP compaq 8710p, with windows xp. I moved to a new house so am using a new wireless for the first time. My laptop detects the wireless (and other wireless connections nearby) but will not connect. My iphone is connected to the wireless, and the wired connection to my laptop is fine. So the problem is my laptop.When I try to renew ip this is the message I get;
C:Documents and Settingsuser>ipconfig/release Windows IP Configuration No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection 4 while it has its media disconnected. Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 3:
Having problems with my wife's laptop. It is connected to our wireless home network - but every so often (and it seems to be happening with increasing frequency), the connection breaks right in the middle of whatever she is doing. The laptop has to be restarted in order to reestablish the internet connection.
This problem has happened at other people's houses when we were connected to their wireless - so the issue appears to be with the laptop and not with the setup of our wireless network.
