I recently bought a Linksys E1200 router. During the set-up, while setting security up, we stupidly by-passed right by the WEP key it generated. This then booted us off the connection since we changed it, and since we didn't get the WEP key, we no longer can enter it in and connect to it. We tried entering in the default IP using another connection but it will not work.

I called support and after sitting on hold for 1/2 hour the tech came on and told me for $29.99 I could get my password reset. Is there a way I could retrieve the password myself so I can avoid spending the money?
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy device is Linksys X3000 modem router.What happened: I `ve tried to upgrade my router over Wifi connection and it failed.when the progress was at 98%. Obviously I should not have done it over the WiFi.There wasn't any warning when I`ve done that.When I got to this situation, my modem has had only power LED on and it was shining red.I have tried using reset button(including 30sec-30sec-30sec method), but it did not recover the modem itself(asI later found out, it did reset the config only). The following method of recover worked for me:
- connect PC to the modem using wired ethernet connection
- if the IP address is not automatically assigned(i.e. DHCP server is down on the router), then assign it statically on the PC. This is a key moment. The subnet you should depends on whether the config was already reset by this time. If it was, then use the default network settings.
It should be 192.168.1.x subnet. The modem should have 192.168.1.1, you can take, for instance, 192.168.1.20 for your PC. Then go to the browser, and go the router`s IP address(192.168.1.1 with default settings). You should see a very simple web page(different from the standard interface), prompting.you to upload the binary image file and upgrade.After doing so, the modem reboots, and stands up!
Still, I think even given that I`ve tried to upgrade the modem using WiFi, that should not cause issues by itself. I expect that the modem would firstly download the binary completely,verify its checksum, and only then switch to it. So I can`t imagine how flaky wireless connection would disrupt this process. I believe the issue is caused by a bug.A support lady have also confirmed I should not have used WiFi for this purpose.If that`s the case, then there should be some sort of warning in the management interface before starting the upgrade, and perhaps, even a protection against usage of WiFi for the upgrade.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to RDP from the internet to a server in my LAN. Below is my setup (router is a Linksys E1200):
I am using dynamic DNS and I can ping my host name to my public IP address (let's say myhostname.com). In my router I have configured port forwarding to forward external port 3389 to internal port 3389 to the IP address of the LAN server. I have temporary disabled the firewall on the LAN server just to rule that local security out. I have contacted my ISP and they ensured me that my modem was in full bridge mode and isn't blocking any port (including 3389). I have set my router to not filter anonymous requests from the internet. I have turned on logging on my router, but it seems like by default it only retains about 50 entries, and no timestamp so it's close to impossible to see if a request is coming in. When I go to canyouseeme.org and put in port 3389 it's saying that it's blocked and the connection timed out.
If the packets are getting through my modem, they should be hitting my router. I believe I have configured my router to forward that port to the server. And I can locally RDP to the server (not to mention firewall is turned off just to rule that out). I'm not sure what else could be preventing me from doing this. When I do a portqry against TCP 3389 on the public IP/hostname I get a result saying it's filtered.
I'm having the same problem. How do I switch the wireless mode? Google searches have been of no use.

I have no antivirus software installed and windows firewall is disabled The other computer on the network and my wireless device can access all websites just fine, and even when I plug my pc directly into the modem it. I have already checked to see if the websites are having issues; they are not. I have reset my router and set it up again multiple times, I have re-installed my drivers, I even reformatted my computer (it needed it anyway..)I first assumed it was an issue with the DNS, I currently have it automatically assign a DNS and I tried using Googles DNS but the issue remained.

When some one at home using internet I can commetc to the router using remote management. But when everybody out and no internet users at home I cannot connect to the router. I checked with other router from linksys (old one WAG45G or something like this) and it was the same. But it works great whith TP-Link routers.

This Linksys E1200 belonged to my neighbor, but he recently passed away, and left me all his computer devices.In the Wall phone jack, I have a DSL noise filter as part as a two female plug,
1) for the Green DSL on Modem, and the other
2) to my phone handset. The way I usually plug this in BEFORE this router was this: The green DSL plug from Modem - into phone jack DSL Filter, and the Yellow ETHERNET cord from Router to the back of Computer. I powered on computer, plugged in all cords, except for E1200 power cord, disabled antivirus/security software, I then inserted the Cisco Connect CD and waited , and waited, but it said I was not connected to the Internet. ERROR CODE# 82BD0304. I'm using win7 64 Pro. before i called ATT, I wanted to know if there is an easier way to conect the right cords to the right plugs.
I have a Panasonic Visio tv, I have a LINKsys E1200 that is connected to my Cable Internet. I have successfully connected the wireless to my laptop and have a guest network that has been tested and works as well. I bought a Sharp Blu Ray player that has wireless capability connected to the TV with HDMI cable and the LAN adapter is in the player. When I had the Blu Ray downstairs I had it connected to the LINKsys thru an ethernet cable and didn't use the adapter, but I wanted to take it upstairs and use it on that TV. CANNOT establish an internet connection?

I set a password for the web interface then it boots me out and I am promted for the password and username.I don't want to download and configure my router with some poorly written software for my mac; why can't I just do it all through the good old web interface???? I'm able to set everything else up fine but when i set the password I am basically rendering the web interface usless and have to reset the router!! View 1 Replies View RelatedI replaced my broken modem with a new Motorola 3360 as recommended by my ISP. The new modem works fine connected directly to my PC. When connecting the modem to the Cisco E1200 router, the same one I had with the older modem, the E1200 says I'm not connected to the PC. I've triple checked the wired connections from the modem to the router and then to the PC. I've swapped out cables and verified that they all work when used directly from the modem to the PC. I'm thinking some settings from the old Westell modem are messing with the connectivity of the new E1200 router.

I just want to limit the wifi speeds to about 70% because recently someone moved in that does a lot of downloads and makes my games go from 40 ping to 300+ and also my phone is through the internet, which becomes unusable.
just some simple setting to set the max wifi data to 13megabits/s down 1mbit up or something.
i'm having connection issues requiring frequent reboots of my router. it starts with internet slowdown to a crawl, then it times out and lastly the webinterface is not even responding when i try to access it to reboot. Requiring me to manually unplug. this happens once a day atleast.
Sometimes it recovers after a few minutes and get on the net.i've tried flashing, reflashing, re-reflashing , resetting , re-resetting, to no end. And all the usual tricks tech support ask to do.

I have a Linksys E1200 modem and I am only getting less than 1.0 mbps download speeds. When connected via ethernet cable to the router, my download speed is > 50 mbps.

If I give it a few seconds, usually never more than a minute (30 seconds on average it seems), it corrects itself and gives me back internet access.
I have a Linksys E1200 wireless router and I am having problems connecting to the internet. I can connect when plugged in to the cable modem directly. I can connect to the wireless network, but there is no internet connection. I ran ipconfig release and renew. I think it may be a DNS problem, but I'm not sure.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been attempting to set up a linksys wireless-n e1200 router on my hp p6-2007c (Windows 7 SP1, 64-bit) desktop pc for the last day and have exhausted everything i can think of. The previous router was a linksys WRT54G and it worked fine. However, upon setting up this new router i get a "no internet access" message accompanied by the little yellow triangle and the ability to still connect to my router via its ip address to alter its configuration. The connection status for the network and the internet is identical for all the laptops in my house. I originally attempted setting up the router using Cisco's setup program. At its conclusion, the setup program informs me that i am connected to the router, but my internet connection has been lost (even though it was never there) I have tried starting over from scratch by resetting the router back to its default settings and using a variety of different channels (Auto, 1, 6, and 11), frequencies, etc. I have uninstalled norton antivirus, disarmed the windows security programs, made sure of TCP/IP settings, rolled back, uninstalled, and finally updated firmware, uninstalled/reinstalled driver for wireless card, disabled/enabled the card itself, deleted all other previous network profiles still present in the "Manage Wireless Networks" screen, and probably some other suggestions i came across in this forum. They all failed with the same results, i.e. the ability to connect to the network locally and having no internet access.

Pinging a website got a request timeout.Pinging the router got a good response.It was properly assigned an IP address, but did not connect through the router.Under Network Connections, it displays as "Connected" but is still not able to access the Internet.

The regular (non-guest) account works as advertised. The E1200 is connected to my Verizon modem/router. I have tried disable/enable of DHCP on the E1200; I have tried setting the E1200 Static DNS 1 to my Verizon router IP address without success.
I just installed an E1200 router and used the CD to take care of the software work. I Cannot connect to it by WiFi. I still have to use a cable connection.
