I have a Linksys E3000 router, which originally had all sorts of security settings, and names for the wireless networks, etc. It was all set up. I upgraded the firmware, and all of those settings sent away. Is there a way to reconfigure the settings to get them back to how they were, and if so, how do I do it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the E3000 and have attched a WD 1TB USB drive. I set it up for FTP and Media sharing and it worked fine but somehow recently I could not connect anymore. I checked the router and all of my setting for the FTP and Media server were gone. The disk drive still shows avaiable but now it shows the entire 1TB free (it was at least half used). This is the second time this has happened, first I tjhought it was a bad disk and replaced it but now it happened again. I did do a power cycle some time ago but I remember it still work after that. Not sure why I am losing my settings. This does not give me a comfort level as to storing anything valuable on that drive.

When I switched out the router to the new E3000, my Xbox Live settings went back to Medium (Moderate). I assumed this would happend since its a new router/setup.

i am trying to port forward my router so that i can run a minecraft server. When I put in th port number and save the changes, it brings me to a screen that says my changes have been saved yet when i go back to the page they haven't. I have tried deleting the cookies on my browser, using another browser, using another computer, and hard resetting the router for ten seconds. None of this works.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a WAG54G ver 1.2, 4-port eth + wireless adsl router. The latest firmware update on the support download site is Ver.1.02.1 from 05/18/2004 which is ridiculous! [URL] This is the ver I have installed on the router and lt does not even have WDS setting, so the device is more or less useless.I have checked open-source alternatives (the wrt line) but they all start with WAG54G V2 and none support the earlier models v1 and v1.2 I need to somehow upgrade this router to something functional. I have checked the GPL code page as well and while there ls a listing for WAG54g, I think itd for V3 routers. So the question is:
1. Is GPL source code usable on v1.2 (I assume not)
2. any suggestions to get a wds system on the router (including beta / alpha firmware)
i trried te update the firmware of my WAG160N. I had to choose between two versions. I tried both. But both versions give the message that is the wrong version and the installations stops.

View 1 Replies View Relatedan EA6500 router that has intermmitent connectivity issues. Went into the configuration page and saw he was a couple versions behind on firmware. Used the online update option, firmware downloaded and then indicated that router would reboot. Did not power off router or leave the configuration web page. Watched light go out on router and come back on, but the spinning wait icon never went away after 5 minutes. Powered off and on and was back at the same point with the old firmware still. Downloaded the firmware to local drive and applied from local file, but same results. Waited 10 minutes this time. Surely it doesn't take more than 10 minutes for the router to reboot itself from a firmware flash?
Gave up on trying to update firmware and configured wifi settings. Left friend's house and then got a message about 15 minutes later that the router had locked up again. If he pulls power for 2 minutes it will then work for another short period of time.
Is there anything that can be done to try and restore normal operation to this particular router, or are these all signs of a hardware failure and the unit should just be replaced?
My 1 day old WAG160N doesn't seem to want to work after upgrading the firmware. Its the V2 Annex A so I made sure I had the right file, followed the instructions on the site and all went fine, router updated and rebooted. After the reboot I held the reset button for the 30 seconds as suggested, plugged in the ethernet to my laptop and popped in the CD to set it up again.Going through the setup it got to the point of detecting the router and could not find it, checked the lights on the router and the only one lit is the ethernet that the laptop was plugged into, none of the others were. I switched off the router and turned it back on, the power light and the ethernet lights all lit up, then the power light went red and a few seconds later went off. Ethernet light was still on.

On the mac it looks like a normal zip file but when I click to "unzip" it it just creates another zip file. When I download it on a pc it doesn't even look like a zip it's just a blank white square. Both computers have always downloaded zips fine, so I'm thinking it maybe is a problem with the file?
