Linksys WRT54G2 V1 Router Blinking But Not Connecting?

Oct 7, 2011

I have a Linksys WRT54G2 V1 router that doesn't work. The lights all blink properly, but the internet connection part doesn't seem to be working. When connecting internet line directly to the computer, my internet works, but when connecting it to the router to the computer, it doesn't. I've tried resetting, unplugging for 30 minutes, etc. Putting in 192.168.1.1 brings up nothing on my web browser. Pinging it says connection timed out. My ipad is able to pick up the router signal as it shows the wifi bars on top, but when trying to use the internet, it says that it's not connected to the web.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Connecting PC To WRT54G2 V1

Oct 4, 2008

I've tried to connect my father's laptop and my father's girlfriend's daughter's PC to my Linksys Wireless Router, model #WRT54G2 V1. So far, I have steady and fast internet access on my PC which so far I've only gotten my father's laptop to connect through. However, I can't figure out how to get her PC to get internet access through my router. I'm mediocre at configuring computers, and I'm absolutely terrible at routers. :/ There was the possibility that her computer isn't new or advanced enough or whatever to be compatible with a wireless router, but at the same time she has a Wireless Network Setup Wizard app. in the control panel area, so wouldn't I be correct in assuming that if a computer has a wizard dedicated to it, it is compatible? I've run Wireless Network Setup Wizard as well as just plain Network Setup Wizard, and I've had them both read that it was successful connecting to my Router's network...but where do I go from there? I've never had to mess with a PC before so I'm not entirely sure. She has a modem, which can not be plugged into the phone jack at the same time as my modem otherwise we both do not have internet access, however if one of us plugs in that person is fine, so that's when I figured I'd try to get her PC into my network with my dad's laptop. Also, we have a Broadband connection setup through Verizon, if that matters at all. Does she need a modem to hook up to my network at all? If so, does that modem need to be plugged into the phone jack? If required I'll give her OS and PC specs and such, but from what I know just being on her computer she runs Windows XP as an OS and her computer is an "eMachine".

Linksys Wireless Router :: Connecting Two WRT54G2 To Extend Signal

Jan 27, 2013

I have available two Linksys Wireless-G Broadband routers (WRT54G2) which were given to me by a family member. We have been using one of the routers by itself for quite some time, but do not have adequate signal throughout our home. I decided it would be easier to design the floor plan of the house for you to see its location in relation to the rest of the house regarding walls and what not. We have HughesNet Satellite internet which is located on the roof just about the location of the modem and router in the bottom right of image.

What do you think would be the best location of the main router? I have read it would be best centrally located since the signal travels horizontally and vertically. I just purchased a 100' Ethernet cable since the only one we had was what the HughesNet installer provided us with which is about 4'. I was originally thinking I would route the cable from the main router to the basement where the second router would be placed since the signal down there is about 1 out of 3 bars on my iPhone. The signal upstairs in the main room (room in top middle of image) ranges from 3-5 out of 5 bars on my laptop.

I just wanted to place a post sooner rather than later to see what your opinions were on the location of the main router and what I have in order to increase the signal.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54g2 Not Connecting Into Wall Port

Dec 30, 2011

I just bought this router used and in working condition. I dl'd the install file from here and followed all the directions. When it gets to the plug router into wall portion, it just sits there and eventually says its hooked up wrong. However the wifi is already working (checked by logging into my kindle fire) as well as my second port which is hooked to my ps3. However my 1st port which is connected to the pc does nothing. I have swapped the cables with no luck. So I cant figure out why there is no communication between the router and my pc.

Linksys Wired Router :: Power LED Blinking BEFSR41 4.2?

i tried to upgrade my BEFSR41 model 4.2 to a newer firmware (FW_BEFSR41v4.3_2.00.4.5_20080603_code.bin) and got a blinking power led. Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Power LED Blinking

Dec 7, 2012

I'm using an E2500 and the Power LED started blinking this week. From the manual, this means   “Flashes slowly during bootup, during firmware upgrades, and druing a Wi-Fi-Protected Setup Connection.” We have a wireless printer (wireless disabled), and a Kindle that does use wireless. All other computers are hard wired.  I have not started a Wi-Fi protected setup. The router has been in use since the third week in October, and is more or less OK even though the Power LED is flashing.  How do I get the Power LED to stop flashing?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT610N - Power Led Blinking?

Apr 13, 2013

I have a problem with a LinkSys WRT610N router (v1).

I have just bought it used. The problems: I see the power led blinking all the time. I can't connect to 192.168.1.1. I do not notice any effect on the leds when pressing the reset button (I feel a soft click when I do that, but none of the leds seem to realize). The manual states that the led should stop blinking after the "self-diagnostics" ends.

My configuration is DSL connection (by AT&T, phone cable), a Siemens 4100 modem, an ethernet cable into the LinkSys router, then an ethernet cable into a Linux PC. Everything is wired. I see the green light of the LAN connection to my PC, the world blue icon and the USB icon stable on, a shy orange led on in the middle (wireless?) and the power blue led blinking. The PC is configured with DHCP, and I can access both the modem (192.168.0.1) and the internet. The gateway address is the one of the modem (again 192.168.0.1). In summary, the ethernet of the router seems to work, but the router is completely transparent, inaccessible, unconfigurable, apparently unresponsive. Trying to connect to 192.168.1.1 (the supposed default address of the web interface of the router, which is different from the 192.168.0.1 of the modem) I get a timeout error, and I can't ping that address. The modem is configured to handle the PPPoE connection, which I am not sure what it means but the text description suggests in this mode I should be able to access the router, provided that its address is not conflicting with the modem's. If I disconnect the modem from the router, DHCP does not get any address. If I force one, 192.168.1.1 still does not respond to pings.

So Is it normal not to notice any reaction when hitting the reset button? is the object just broken, except that the ethernet subsystem still works?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT160N Power Light Blinking?

May 11, 2009

So I recently upgraded from a WRT54GS to a WRT160N v2, all was well and good for about 3 days. Then I would lose my internet connection every 5 minutes or so, it would fix itself by the time I could open up command prompt and start pinging to pin point the problem. I decided I would update the firmware to see if that would fix the issue.  Since doing that the power light has been blinking non stop.  I've tried restoring it to factory defaults by holding the reset button for 30seconds, turning it off for 2 minutes and back on.  That little blue light just keeps flashing.  I can't even access the router setting page using 192.168.1.1.  My OS is  Windows xp x64 sp2, and I have DSL.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1000 Lights Blinking Erratically

May 7, 2011

When I came home tonight, the lights on my E1000 hardware version 1 (that I have had for only 9 months) were, as best as I can describe, blinking like a digital clock blinks 12:00 over and over. All of the blue LEDs would light up at once, and go off, repeatedly and rapidly. This is the second time this has happened - the first time (about two weeks ago) I called a techie friend and he had me hard reset the router (30 on 30 off 30 on) and it worked, I just had to set up my wireless network again. This time, I just unplugged the cable from the back of the router, waited about 15 seconds and plugged it back in, and it went back to normal.

In case someone may be wondering, unplugging the from the surge protector did NOT work; when I first noticed the lights blinking, I unplugged it from the surge protector, waited about 10 seconds, and plugged it back in; the lights continued their rapid erratic blinking. I then did what I described above - I plugged it back into the surge protector, and then unplugged it from the back of the router, waited, and plugged it back in and it was back to normal.

I thought perhaps it needed a firmware upgrade, but checking the website, while I was able to locate the site to upgrade the firmware for E1000, I could only see an upgrade for hardware Version 2, and my router is Version 1 - which, from what I understand, is NOT what I want, as that firmware is for a different hardware version and may cause problems on my Version 1 router.

While my router seems to be fine now. Is my router starting to kick the bucket already? I haven't had it that long - bought it last September. Do I need to upgrade any software or firmware for it? If so, where do I get the correct upgrade for my hardware version?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GS V1.0 Firmware - Blinking Power Light

Feb 20, 2012

No download available and none available via Linksys Live Chat or FTP and having spent the best part of the week trying to find relevant firmware on other forums I decided to come here to get answers to the following questions, hopefully from version 1.0 experienced owners or not.

#1. Can the firmware of version 2.0 and 3.0 be reduced to flash version 1.0?

#2. When diagnosing the blinking power light issue by connecting directly to the router and the network card using "ping -t 192.168.1.xxx" which network address do I use, 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2 to 2xx?

I get a reply using 192.168.1.1 but I'm not sure that works when using the TFTP Utility if it's the wrong address on my Laptop to ping?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Link Light On Motorola Surfboard SB6120 Blinking?

Oct 19, 2011

So I just noticed on my Cable modem the link light is blinking orange, per Motorola if its blinking orange - Computer is connected via a 10 mbps or 100 mbps Ethernet port.

On the Linksys E4200 status page it says

Internet Port Speed:
Internet          10/100 mbps
Local Port Speed    Port 1 - 1Gbps

Maybe I just noticed this with this router, but I'm pretty sure this didn't start happening until I updated to 1.0.03.

Previously the link light was blue indicating a 1Gbps connection.
