Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GS V1.0 Firmware - Blinking Power Light
Feb 20, 2012No download available and none available via Linksys Live Chat or FTP and having spent the best part of the week trying to find relevant firmware on other forums I decided to come here to get answers to the following questions, hopefully from version 1.0 experienced owners or not.
#1. Can the firmware of version 2.0 and 3.0 be reduced to flash version 1.0?
#2. When diagnosing the blinking power light issue by connecting directly to the router and the network card using "ping -t 192.168.1.xxx" which network address do I use, 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2 to 2xx?
I get a reply using 192.168.1.1 but I'm not sure that works when using the TFTP Utility if it's the wrong address on my Laptop to ping?

Aug 24, 2012I just bought linksys EA2700 to replace my U.S Robotics .. but when i try to connect it like the old router , the internet lights won't turn on, is it because i have to use a modem then use ethernet cable ? can't i just use ADSL cable directly to the router like robotics router ? when i try to configure it manually , i change the internet type to PPoE protocol but i can't find VCI/VPI so where are they ?

Jul 4, 2006My Wireless-G WRT54G router has a blinking power light and the startup software says "Unable to connect to the Router! Check that the Router has been connected to the computer, and that your Ethernet adapter is working." I tried uploading the firmware but I can't get to the router page to update. Is there a known problem or solution here or am I just going to have to find the router page?

May 11, 2009So I recently upgraded from a WRT54GS to a WRT160N v2, all was well and good for about 3 days. Then I would lose my internet connection every 5 minutes or so, it would fix itself by the time I could open up command prompt and start pinging to pin point the problem. I decided I would update the firmware to see if that would fix the issue. Since doing that the power light has been blinking non stop. I've tried restoring it to factory defaults by holding the reset button for 30seconds, turning it off for 2 minutes and back on. That little blue light just keeps flashing. I can't even access the router setting page using 192.168.1.1. My OS is Windows xp x64 sp2, and I have DSL.

Feb 21, 2012I have a Linksys WRT54GS vers 7.2 Router on an iMac OS X Leopard. The other day I was in the middle of downloading an upgrade for the router when Firefox gave me this message: "Firefox can't find the server". I was no longer able to access the internet, and the router's green power light was left flashing. It flashed for over 24 hours. I tried unplugging the router and shutting down the computer, then plugging in the router and turning on the computer. (I don't have a modem.) The light was still flashing. I tried pressing the logo button for 5 seconds. Still flashing. Tried pressing the reset button in the back. Still flashing. 'I can't get on the internet or into the router. Linksys live chat gave me a link to "Upgrading the router’s firmware using the TFTP utility", which involves a download, but I can't download anything because I can't access the internet.

Mar 24, 2011I've seen related to flashing power lights on the router involve fixes via firmware upgrades off a PC.I'm on an iMac os 10.6.7. The WRT54 used to work as a wireless modem a couple of years ago. Tonight, it doesn't. power light blinks. Can't access any webpage interface for the thing. Reset, power down, computer restart, cable modem turn off don't change anything. Is there anything that can be done other than tossing the linksys? If that is the only option, are there wireless routers more suitable for a Mac?

Maybe I just noticed this with this router, but I'm pretty sure this didn't start happening until I updated to 1.0.03.
Previously the link light was blue indicating a 1Gbps connection.

Feb 15, 2010I have a problem with RV042. My ISP gives me automaticly IP address and i had no problems using different types of routers, including linksys routers. With RV042 i just can't get the IP. It says, the port is up, i see the packets/traffic, front control light is blinking but it never receives the dhcp settings, doesn't matter if i use wan1, wan2, dual wan mode or single wan. I have the newest firmare 1.3.12.19tm. System statistics says "disconnected" but the packets come in and go out. Log shows absolutely nothing. I also disabled firewall but it didn't work. I can't seem to find the older 1.3.12.6 firmware.

Aug 28, 2012Yesterday I bought the Linksys Wireless-N Home ADSL2+ Modem Router WAG120N (Annex-A version). I configured the modem/router and it was working very well. Today I was surfing the internet just fine and I left my computer for a few minutes, when I came back I noticed that there is no internet connection. The internet light on the modem was no longer on, and the DSL one was blinking. I turned off the device and then turned it back on but the issue was still present. I tried restoring the factory default settings and configuring the modem again but nothing seems to work (resetting the modem, turning off every device connected to it and restarting the modem/router). The DSL light keeps blinking, turns off for a couple seconds and then starts blinking again. The internet light only appears when I restart the modem and it flashes red just after turning the device on.

Jul 22, 2011I try to connect my IPod touch to the wireless router E4200 Firmware 1.0.02 build 13 and I got this error Unable to join the network “n2”.This is my 2.4 GHz Wireless Settings:
Network Mode: Wireless-N only
Network Name (SSID): n2
Channel Width: Auto
Channel: 9 – 2.452GHZ
Security Mode: WPA2
I spoke with customer service and I went through all the setting change possible without success, she told me maybe the problem was with my iPod and I have to call apple customer service. I can connect the iPod to my old wireless router successfully with not issues, using 2.4 GHZ only N Wireless Settings.The another issue I is when I use 2.4 GHz N is not connecting with a good speed (Max speed 64 Mbps) I know my pc have a max of 300 Mbps and again when I connected using old wireless I get max speed. I analyze all spectrum around the router is located; I change the channel to the one that are not in use for another router. Same speed, no improve of performance.
I found in the report from the Wi-Fi spectrum analyzer said band N 5 GHz max rate 450 Mbps that is the speed that is supposed to be, but for 2.4 GHz N max rate 144 Mbps, so there is a problem with the router that is no giving the right speed and standard specification for band 2.4 GHz N. I did same test with older firmware release and same issue. I tried all setting possible and I get same outcome, no iPod connection and low speed rate with a max of 144 Mbps (It’s supposed to be 300 Mbps)

Jul 3, 2011Just got the E4200 and it seemed great at first. Connected at 450mbps at close range (maybe 6ft away) and got 223mbps transfer.It seems that recently my signal is much weaker. I'm around 6-8ft away from the router and I'm getting between 270-360mbps, which to me is poor given the short range.InSSIDer says the RSSI is -50, while my other wireless N router (dual band) is -35 and is in the exact same location. I'm using the 5ghz radio only, and it is set to N, and I'm using channels 44 and 48. I checked the hidden advanced wireless page and transmit power is already set to high.My laptop has an Intel 6300 wireless card.I'm using the current firmware 1.0.02,I've noticed that the speed of the router randomly seems to drop off too (just as I type this, the link rate has gone back up to 450mbps... typical). Is the router throttling when it gets hot or something? So I just want to find out if others are experiencing similar rates at the same kind of distance. Seriously, how can you advertise something as 450mbps when you can't even get that link rate at a distance as short as 6ft?I can't see any thing I can do to increase the link speed (back down to 270mbps now), short of a firmware update to increase the power and use higher channels. I hear the higher channels are much better, so who do I have to write to, to plead for new firmware?,This is a great product, but it's totally ruined by stupid internal antennas and a weak transmit power.

I had Purchased a brand new TP-Link WifI Modem Router TD-W8961ND with S/N : 12CB5200872 from [URL] and it got delivered few days back. When I am trying to connect it to the internet the modem is not getting connected nor configured. The Power button light, ADSL Light and internet light are continuously blinking and nothing is getting steady. The modem is appearing to be a damaged piece of modem and it is very unfortunate that we have got a modem from flipkart in an unserviceable condition. It came with a warranty of 03 years and I wanted a replacement so that I can use the modem for connecting internet.
