Can I do this with a E4200? I want to do this for gaming reasons, and I mainly want to slow my speed down. I currently have my console hard wired to the router. I have accessed the firmware for the router but don't see how to change speeds.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a E4200 router v.01 and when i updated the latest firmware (due to security exploit) it seems that whenever i acess the router settings (192.168.1.1) it doesn't ask me nor to input the admin and the password anymore, using wifi or wired.. I want the usual proccess whenever i go to 192.168.1.1 it will ask me to input my admin and password to change my router settings..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just picked up a E4200 last nite and installed it and everything seems to be connecting ok, but I'm just not sure I have the optimal settings. This is my first dual band router.I have a mixture of G and N devices on the network - notebooks, desktop, phones, Wii. etc.What are the best settings for each of the 5 and 2.4 bands? I have read that you want to have the same SSID and encryption keys, so clients can go from one or the other seamlessly. It's mostly the Basic Wireless Settings that I want to get straight. Right now everything is on Mixed and Auto, and I'm not sure that's entirely correct.
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for a PCI and USB wireless adapter that works well with this router and provides the best range and throughput? I have both a laptop and desktop in a detached building with no physical cables. I want to ensure these have the best connection possible.
We hav ea 5508 pair running in HA mode. Initially the conrollers were running the 73..101.0 code. We were having issues where the primary controller would software reset (according to show sysinfo), the secondary (HA SKU) would take over and then after a few hours the secondary would also software reset and the primary would take over. Also I notice that after this happens that the Tx Power Control doesn't seem to adjust the A radio settings, most of the radios are at the 6 level. Normally they are 1, 2, or 3. Last week I upgraded to 7.3.112.0, later that day the same thing happened.

I am not able to connect the 2 devices via a LAN cable and am wondering if I can get bridge mode working over the network (wireless). I set the Linksys to bridge mode and assigned it an ip address. I disabled all wireless settings, etc. I then connected the internet port of the Linksys into a data port (wall jack) that connects to our flat network switch. It says it's connected under "Status" but I'm not sure how to confirm this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedNo matter what I do, whenever I enter the Web Interface for my E4200, the page comes up in Russian (at least I think it is russian!!)! I have changed the language to English (by trial and error discovered it was the first option at the top of the pull-down list) many times and yes, selected save at the bottom of the Setup page. I get the message back "Your settings have been successfully saved".But next time I go in, it is back to either Russian or sometimes some other wierd script, and I have to reselect English.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new WRT120N router and it works perfectly on cable and Wi-Fi with one major issue on Wi-Fi. If i connect my phone or any phone for that matter that knows N speed the connection speed is 65Mbps and that is fine as all phones are limited to this speed over Wi-Fi. When I connect a Sony laptop that has N connection speed up to 300 Mpbs the connection speed shows as 65Mpbs. Are there any special settings I have to do to make the connection at least 100 or 120 Mpbs? What is the maximum connection speed of this model because I couldn't find any information about this. I did some digging on google and found that some people have connection speed of 120 Mpbs but they didn't give any advice on the settings they used or how they got to this speed. Keep in mid that I am refering to the connection speed now the actual download speed. So what settings I have to do to get at least 100 Mpbs speed connection?
LE: I would prefer a setting that would alow me to connect a Galaxy Nexus phone an iPhone 3G and the Sony laptop so that all of them will be connected at the maximum speed suported by that specific device.
I have an e4200 with the latest firmware 2.1.39. I just upgraded the firmware due to connection issues with my DSL. I now have the same issues with disconnects but I believe they are being caused by a different issue. When I try and log into my router through the IP address it wont let me, it says it can't find the router. Eventually after getting in the first time by using the default password, I have twice found out that all my settings are gone. This has happened twice this week and only happened after upgrading the firmware but I can not tell if firmware is causing it or if it is hardware related. I now reboot and restore saved firmware but that is a hassle and am pretty sure that is not the way it was designed to work.

I have te E4200. When I backed up and restored my media server settings were not there as well as ftp, I found this out upgrading to 1.0.02 that turned out to be a huge waste of time anyways.

When connecting through wireless network off the E4200, I can obtain and connect fine under Guest network and WEP security, but for any other security setting, WPA, WPA2, Mixed mode, etc. I get the message "Aquiring network address" forever, and I never get a connection.

I have 1Gb connection from my ISP, and my old Netgear router gives me about 350 Mbps WAN speed, but with new E4200 I only got 110 Mbps max download speed.Cisco live support tried suggested to change MTU from Auto to 1400 (and try different wlan channels, even that I don't use wlan). This MTU size change makes no difference with WAN speed. I have latest firmaware installed, router reseted several times, tried different cables etc. Also with same cable sets my old Netgear still gives about 3 times better WAN speed.WAN port (and all LAN ports) seems to negotiated at 1000 Mbps at both ONT (optical network terminal) and Linksys settings page, but unfortanately there is no way to change the setting from auto to manual at E4200 settings (and it is not possible to change any settings of ONT by user). I was thinking that if somehow it won't auto negotiate properly (even if the setting page says its ok) but maybe it actually negotiated 100 Mbps port to WAN.

The last 3 weeks speed drops intermittently through the day.Up graded to latest firm way yesterday 11-10-11 still have the issue, i.e. first thing this am had 15mbps and 1 hour later was below 1mbps. Same hard drive directly connected to my Mac Book Pro Unibody produce 30MB/sec. However my internet connection thru the router fairly shows 12MB/sec.It sounds funny, but for me is 4 times faster to download file from the Web rather the from hard dive that I'm holding in my hand.

The iPhone was almost at the same spot, and the signal was around 85~95%. On my 3 year old DIR-300, the speed don't change at all, and it's in a place where I can see around 15 connections. my old D-link DGL-4300 was rock steady showing 54 Mbps constant speed (link rate) (in Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit Wireless Network Connection Status window). The new E4200 jumps around from 72 Mbps to 114 Mbps to 130 Mbps to 144 Mbps. However, it mainly stays at 72 Mbps. I have seen 150 Mbps briefly but I have never seen 300 Mbps. I have even placed my laptop within 2 -3 ft of the router and have a strong signal (4 bars) but I still have the same link rate issue. I would think that Windows would show 300 Mbps link rate for my connection when it is that close to the router. My laptop is a Toshiba with an integrated Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless adapter. My son also has a Toshiba laptop with the same wireless adapter but he gets lower speeds than mine due to the fact that he is 50' away in another room in the house. His connection also jumps around but it is at lower link rates than mine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my 4200 for about 1.5 months now and it was working great until 8 days ago. I was playing WoW over wireless (like I always have) and noticed that I was lagging a bit. I brushed it off as possibly my internet connection. The next day I was surfing the net and at random times webpages wouldn't load or would take longer to load. I checked my wireless connection properties in windows and noticed that the link speed drops out every now and then. It'll start at 54Gb (only have G in the house, so I disabled the 5GHz and set 2.4GHz to B/G only), then it'll drop to 48, 36, 11, 1. Meanwhile the signal doesn't drop a bit. I'm still connected to the router just the link speed drops out and it just started. It's very annoying having to go old school and hook up wired on my laptops just in order to chat online or anything. I'm still using v 1.0.0 firmware, so I guess I could try upgrading to .03 and see. But I personally doubt that is the issue since this just randomly started happening. I ordered the router through newegg.com and I do not have the box for the router anymore so I don't think I can return it. And I can't be without a router for 4-6 weeks while Linksys/Cisco repairs mine.

When i connect directly through the modem i see speeds of about 600mbps but when i connect through the router via an ethernet cable on an empty port on the back of my e4200 my speeds drop to about 180mbps. I expected a speed loss going through wireless but why i am experiencing a speed loss by using the ethernet as a passthrough? I thought the ethernet ports on the e4200 were gigabit and support up to 1000mbps?
