I have a E4200 router v.01 and when i updated the latest firmware (due to security exploit) it seems that whenever i acess the router settings (192.168.1.1) it doesn't ask me nor to input the admin and the password anymore, using wifi or wired.. I want the usual proccess whenever i go to 192.168.1.1 it will ask me to input my admin and password to change my router settings..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just picked up a E4200 last nite and installed it and everything seems to be connecting ok, but I'm just not sure I have the optimal settings. This is my first dual band router.I have a mixture of G and N devices on the network - notebooks, desktop, phones, Wii. etc.What are the best settings for each of the 5 and 2.4 bands? I have read that you want to have the same SSID and encryption keys, so clients can go from one or the other seamlessly. It's mostly the Basic Wireless Settings that I want to get straight. Right now everything is on Mixed and Auto, and I'm not sure that's entirely correct.
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for a PCI and USB wireless adapter that works well with this router and provides the best range and throughput? I have both a laptop and desktop in a detached building with no physical cables. I want to ensure these have the best connection possible.
Can I do this with a E4200? I want to do this for gaming reasons, and I mainly want to slow my speed down. I currently have my console hard wired to the router. I have accessed the firmware for the router but don't see how to change speeds.

I am not able to connect the 2 devices via a LAN cable and am wondering if I can get bridge mode working over the network (wireless). I set the Linksys to bridge mode and assigned it an ip address. I disabled all wireless settings, etc. I then connected the internet port of the Linksys into a data port (wall jack) that connects to our flat network switch. It says it's connected under "Status" but I'm not sure how to confirm this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedNo matter what I do, whenever I enter the Web Interface for my E4200, the page comes up in Russian (at least I think it is russian!!)! I have changed the language to English (by trial and error discovered it was the first option at the top of the pull-down list) many times and yes, selected save at the bottom of the Setup page. I get the message back "Your settings have been successfully saved".But next time I go in, it is back to either Russian or sometimes some other wierd script, and I have to reselect English.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an e4200 with the latest firmware 2.1.39. I just upgraded the firmware due to connection issues with my DSL. I now have the same issues with disconnects but I believe they are being caused by a different issue. When I try and log into my router through the IP address it wont let me, it says it can't find the router. Eventually after getting in the first time by using the default password, I have twice found out that all my settings are gone. This has happened twice this week and only happened after upgrading the firmware but I can not tell if firmware is causing it or if it is hardware related. I now reboot and restore saved firmware but that is a hassle and am pretty sure that is not the way it was designed to work.

I have te E4200. When I backed up and restored my media server settings were not there as well as ftp, I found this out upgrading to 1.0.02 that turned out to be a huge waste of time anyways.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have E4200 with fixed ip 192.168.1.2, DHCP off connected through LAN ports to FIOS ActionTec as 192.168.1.1. When connecting through wireless network off the E4200, I can obtain and connect fine under Guest network and WEP security, but for any other security setting, WPA, WPA2, Mixed mode, etc. I get the message "Aquiring network address" forever, and I never get a connection.

This past Christmas, my family got about 4 new wifi devices which they added to the network bringing the total number of devices on my home network to 10. I wanted to know if there are any advanced settings in Cisco Connect that I can tweak to make my wifi speeds faster because right now I'm getting about 55 Mbps on most of my devices. Main uses:
- Distance from WRT310N to other devices is around 8 meters, separated by 1 concrete wall
- Stream music/video from PC to iPad and another laptop wirelessly.
- Transfer files between devices
I even just reset to factory and loaded the 1.0.4 firmware but still persists.In the DNS setting, the wireless router adds itself as one of the DNS servers, and I can't figure out why it would do that. My DNS should come from my comcast router and not the e3200 wireless device.

I'm just trying to port forward with this router, and after I'm done entering all my settings, I click save settings, it tells me settings are successful.
But the it goes back to the port forwarding page and all the stuff is at default again as if I didn't make any changes. What the hell is this?
I'm sure it's just a little something I don't know about that's making it not save any changes to port forwarding.
I'm currently looking at buying the E1200. confirm if the settings on this router allow you to adjust the TX (aka transmission strength)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed an IP camera, and had to change my E1000 router settings to a static IP address. Now I can't access the router settings. 192.168.1.1 is still the default gateway, but it won't open in any browser.
I'm reluctant to do a reset because it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the IP camera and port forwarding working (it does!), and I'd hate to do it all again and come to the same place. I'm not very good at this stuff, and it's a small miracle that I did it once.
When I try to go to192.168.1.1 it says connection interrupted. If i use the Cisco Connect it tells me i am not connected to the internet. My pc is connected via ethernet cable. My son can pull it up on is laptop and is connect the our Linksys E3000 wirelessly. I can go online, I just cant get to the router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to re-purpose my E4200v1 as a Bridge, AP or some other thing that might work with wifi coverage in my home. I am using an Asus as the primary router. and I have Verizon Fios so I have a coax/ethernet router with its wireless switched off so that the Asus is primary. That works, but when I go to reset the E4200v1, I can get it to take a new IP address, but when I attempt to put it into bridge mode, as soon as I hit "save settings" I see the admin screen flash and it goes back to its origninal settings, instead of saving the new settings.

I recently upgraded to the EA4500 and the only issue I'm having is that it will not recognize my static DNS settings, which worked fine on my older E2000. No other hardware has changed except the router.I've tried both Google DNS and OpenDNS. In either case, the DNS settings can be entered and saved in the Basic Settings tab, but when I go to the admin tab, it shows my ISP's deafult DNS.

I still do not have any Cisco Connect software on my PC to set passwords or preferences. If I try to run the disc again, it gives me a system critical error and shuts down my computer.
