I just set up a DPC3825 router, and I wanted to use WEP security settings so my DS Lite can connect to the internet, but it appear the only options in the Wireless > Wireless Security dropdown list are :
WPA-Personal
WPA2-Personal
WPA or WPA2-Personal
Disable.
I have 2 xboxs, 1 is wired and one has the microsoft adapter for wireless.. I have been searching tons of forums to try to solve this issue, and I'm at my end if it! I really need both my nats open, so far I can get 1 nat open while the other one is strict. I have a Cisco DPC3825.

I have tried to manually connect to the router with correct security WPA-Personal (TKIP) and correct password but then the computer says "settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network".How can I get the computer to detect the correct security? The computer is running Windows 7 home premium.

View 2 Replies View RelatedComcast service went down in our neighborhood and when it came back up my internet was down and all five LED lights on my Linksys router are solid green. Tech support tells me that I have to reset the unit to get it to function again.It's been a very long time since I set up the home network and while I'm pretty sure I can make my way through setting up from scratch (I'm assuming resetting goes back to factory settings) I was hoping there was a way to reconnect the router to the modem while retaining all the current security and settings.

When connecting through wireless network off the E4200, I can obtain and connect fine under Guest network and WEP security, but for any other security setting, WPA, WPA2, Mixed mode, etc. I get the message "Aquiring network address" forever, and I never get a connection.

I checked my wireless connection and saw that the radiotype was now 802.11g instead of 802.11n, what is always has been. I looked at the Wireless configuration in the router's webbased config panel, but the only things listed there are "Disabled", "Mixed", "Wireless-G Only" and "Wireless-B Only". A scratched my head a bit, wondering wether or not I really bought an N router or just a G router. But IIRC I really bought an N router. It said so on the bill. Also, when I check the user manual, page 14 says I should be able to select "Wireless-N Only".

I have an AE3000 dual band wireless adapter using the Win 7 Pro OS. At work our routers all use the same SSID, but utilize different channels. In terms of signal strength, the strongest signal is usually, but not always, one of the channels on the 2.4GHZ band (usually 11). However, in terms of speed of connection and lack of overcrowding, the best signal is invariably one the channels on the 5GHZ band (usually 161). My AE3000 will inevitably connect to the strongest signal (channel 11) even though it only slightly stronger than the signal on channel 161 and furnishes a much slower connection than that obtainable on channel 161. Is there any way I can "force" the AE3000 to connect via channel 161 rather than channel 11?

I have an E4200 and when I set it up, it assigned my 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands the same SSID. If I configure the AE1000 to connect to that SSID, it seems to connect to the 2.4GHz band. Do I have to change the SSID for 5GHz and initiate a connection to it manually?

Even before I did the latest firmware flash I couldn't select short GI under Advanced Wireless - it was simply greyed out even though WMM was enabled above it. Now after a factory reset and recreating all my settings I still can't select it.
I have a E4200 router v.01 and when i updated the latest firmware (due to security exploit) it seems that whenever i acess the router settings (192.168.1.1) it doesn't ask me nor to input the admin and the password anymore, using wifi or wired.. I want the usual proccess whenever i go to 192.168.1.1 it will ask me to input my admin and password to change my router settings..

This past Christmas, my family got about 4 new wifi devices which they added to the network bringing the total number of devices on my home network to 10. I wanted to know if there are any advanced settings in Cisco Connect that I can tweak to make my wifi speeds faster because right now I'm getting about 55 Mbps on most of my devices. Main uses:
- Distance from WRT310N to other devices is around 8 meters, separated by 1 concrete wall

I even just reset to factory and loaded the 1.0.4 firmware but still persists.In the DNS setting, the wireless router adds itself as one of the DNS servers, and I can't figure out why it would do that. My DNS should come from my comcast router and not the e3200 wireless device.

I just picked up a E4200 last nite and installed it and everything seems to be connecting ok, but I'm just not sure I have the optimal settings. This is my first dual band router.I have a mixture of G and N devices on the network - notebooks, desktop, phones, Wii. etc.What are the best settings for each of the 5 and 2.4 bands? I have read that you want to have the same SSID and encryption keys, so clients can go from one or the other seamlessly. It's mostly the Basic Wireless Settings that I want to get straight. Right now everything is on Mixed and Auto, and I'm not sure that's entirely correct.
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for a PCI and USB wireless adapter that works well with this router and provides the best range and throughput? I have both a laptop and desktop in a detached building with no physical cables. I want to ensure these have the best connection possible.
I'm just trying to port forward with this router, and after I'm done entering all my settings, I click save settings, it tells me settings are successful.
But the it goes back to the port forwarding page and all the stuff is at default again as if I didn't make any changes. What the hell is this?
I'm sure it's just a little something I don't know about that's making it not save any changes to port forwarding.
I'm currently looking at buying the E1200. confirm if the settings on this router allow you to adjust the TX (aka transmission strength)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed an IP camera, and had to change my E1000 router settings to a static IP address. Now I can't access the router settings. 192.168.1.1 is still the default gateway, but it won't open in any browser.
I'm reluctant to do a reset because it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the IP camera and port forwarding working (it does!), and I'd hate to do it all again and come to the same place. I'm not very good at this stuff, and it's a small miracle that I did it once.
When I try to go to192.168.1.1 it says connection interrupted. If i use the Cisco Connect it tells me i am not connected to the internet. My pc is connected via ethernet cable. My son can pull it up on is laptop and is connect the our Linksys E3000 wirelessly. I can go online, I just cant get to the router.
