I'm using the Linksys WRT160N V3 for testing a few ambedded applications.I need to set the speed of operation of the router to 100Mbps. (or at least find out what speed it currently supports) I looked up the router home page and couldn't find anything concrete.
View 3 RepliesAfter changing name and password, the speed became much slower. Checking it with speed test, download is just 0.19 Mbps while upload is 3 Mbps. Wired speed is much better, download is 20 Mbps. So it is not the problem of I provider, comcast. How to solve this problem? I rebooted and reset it already.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchased a WRT160N router, and I'm using it in conjunction with a WMP54G wireless PCI card. I've set the router up to my requirements, and can get a stable wireless connection.. but internet speed seems excessively slow. While I'm able to get up to around 4MB/s transferring files over the network, running speed tests, it consecutively shows my download speed to sit around 400KB/s, whereas I'm able to get a steady 1.1MB/s on another desktop that is wired. Disabling the LAN adapter on that computer, and connecting via wireless, brings down the speed that that computer is able to get to around 400KB/s as well. Hence, I don't think it's my wireless cards, but something to do with the router itself.I'm also experiencing lag spike issues in online games, which I can only attribute to the current wireless setup, because I've previously had no issues with it. All relevant ports are forwarded, so that is not an issue.After doing some Googling on the subject, someone had suggested running SpeedGuide's TCP Optimizer, and changing the RWIN - I ran it, and set it to the 'optimal' settings, and after a reboot the wireless seemed fine - I was getting just a tad under what I should (about 950KB/s).. but after a short while, it just went back to 400KB/s. After further investigation, it seems that Vista automatically changes that RWIN value to optimize network traffic.. but I never had this issue with my old wireless gear, so I can only assume that the way Vista is reacting is based on the way the router is interacting with it.

I've done a speed test with speakeasy.net and get fine through the hard wire desktop (25.16/3.77) but when I do it on my wireless laptop I get 2.03down / 3.66up. The speeds were basically the same right next to router as it was 40' away.

When I go from modem to router and then directly plugged into computer (using ethernet) it degrades to 15 Mbps.
When I swith to wireless and I step about 20 feet from router my speed degrades down to 0.57 Mbps with full signal strength.
My version of firmware is 1.2.11. Here are my settings:MTU = 50Beacon = 50
Fragment Threshold = 2304
RTS = 2304
Radio Band = 20 GHZ channel
Standard Channel = set to 11
Network mode is mixed.
Security is a WPA2 / AES

I got an WRT160N,when I had 5mb connection it was working normal,but since I changed to 10mb,it downloads at 40kbp-100kbp,The connection is very stable,but the speed its very slow.I try to download the firmware but its with .bin extension and I don't know how to open it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been spending days !!! trying to resolve why my laptop pc disconnects frequently from its wireless connection. No discernable pattern to disconnects, totally random. Happens in cycles of disconnect/auto reconnect or will go hours of stable operation. What I have noticed is tht the connection speed seems to vary, from a hig of 54.0 Mbps to as low as 2.0 Nbps. At same time the desktop pc (hard wired to modem) stays connected at 100 Mbps.Using RCA modem, WRT160n v3 router.

And the configuration was simple enough and tested fine for redundant static routing: [code] Then I tried to do the same on a 3560 switch running 12.2(55)SE3. ip sla went in fine. But when I went to put in the track I was presented with "list boolean and" (for example) after the track and the identifier.I tossed in the ip sla "10" as the object. But shopw track shows the boolean AND as down. I don't get why the track feature is different in two switches so close in IOS version. How do I get the 3560 to track the ip sla as my 3750 does?

I have scanned all the wireless connection in my area and found them to occupy channels 1, 6, 11. I tried changing my channels one at a time for all 11 channels. Some did a little better than others but not a lot.Also, if I by a dual channel router, can all wireless devices pick up on the 5GHz spectrim and if some, could this alleviate some interference?Is it possible that my router is going bad and a new single channel 2.4 GHz router will be fine?
I have a broadband connection and recently I bought a new D-Link wireless router for accessing internet on my Android phone via Wi-Fi. Router model no. is N 150 DIR-524.After configuring it was working fine for a week or so and then one fine day internet stopped working on my PC and router LED for internet was not glowing as well. So I called my ISP and they changed my ethernet card settings (nVidia).They changed the 'Speed/duplex settings' from 'Auto Negotiation' to '10 Mb Half Duplex' and then the internet started working. During this they had disconnected my router. Once they were gone, I reset the router and connected it back. Since then it ain't working Internet works fine when the cable is plugged directly in the ethernet card but doesn't work when plugged via router. Router does everything right from opening the '192.168.0.1' page to saving the settings. But there's no internet access.

When I login from a windows machine I can use the share point without any problems. When I try to use it from a Mac (mounted via smb://192.168.1.1/sharepoint) I can access the folders and download files. I can even create folders. When I try to copy a file onto the share point (normal file name, small file size) I get an error saying "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items." I have an E1000 that is connected to my main computer via Ethernet and have found that it crashes almost every time I run a particular type of operation.I'm testing software and running PHP scripts that invoke cUrl to fetch data from a few different web services via SSL. I would say that at least every other time one of these operations begins, the router crashes -- I am unable to ping its internal IP and I have to power-cycle it to get back up and running.
I don't experience the crashes in any other context and I use the router all day long. I'm one release behind on firmware but the release notes on the most recent version don't suggest that upgrading would make any difference -- no mention of any bugs fixed, for example.
After a storm in my neighborhood my wireless router was reset. It is a wrt54g purchased in 2007. I had to reinstall the Easy Link Advisor from the net because the disk I had did not work with Windows 7. Everything went OK, however, I am not able to add a password. Uploads are 2Mbps either way. I have a WRT54GS v.6 with firmware version v1.52.8 which I updated today, completed by setting factory default through the router webpage after I discovered this discrepancy. The firmware update did not improve the download speed appreciably, if at all.Should the wireless connection be that much slower than the wired connection through the router? I did just replace my modem when I discovered I was having erratic speedtests and that corrected that problem. That is when I became aware of the wireless issue, so not sure how long that has been the case. I have Charter's 16/2 HSI, living in a sparsely populated area with solid internet service. There is no external nor internal interference on this 2.4Ghz band.

I installed an IP camera, and had to change my E1000 router settings to a static IP address. Now I can't access the router settings. 192.168.1.1 is still the default gateway, but it won't open in any browser.
I'm reluctant to do a reset because it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the IP camera and port forwarding working (it does!), and I'd hate to do it all again and come to the same place. I'm not very good at this stuff, and it's a small miracle that I did it once.
I have a wrt160n v3. This is the 3rd one - both the first 2 were defective. I have spent approximately 8 hours troubleshooting the other 2 only to be told they're defective. So, I got a new one. Now, this one keeps cutting in and out. I want as my iPhone constantly switches from 3G to wifi on and over every minute. It really ticks me off! What can I do to fix this? This is a different issue than the original one (very slow) and 2nd (no signal). It's disappointing for a $90 router to do this. I also see the wireless icon on the router flash.
