Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54g Updating Devise The Method Or Operation Is Not Implemented
Oct 21, 2012
After a storm in my neighborhood my wireless router was reset. It is a wrt54g purchased in 2007. I had to reinstall the Easy Link Advisor from the net because the disk I had did not work with Windows 7. Everything went OK, however, I am not able to add a password. I keep getting the following error message: Error Updating Devise The Method or Operation is not Implemented. How do I get around this issue and install some sort of security for my home network? My wireless network was named genesis50 now it went back to linksys. How do I change the name back? The hard wired system still shows as genesis50.
i just updated my firmware on my wrt54g ver 2 router, went through all the steps it updated successfully after that i hit the reset button and unplugged the router as tehe online instructions said to. Now i can't connect to the interent at all with either of my two wired computers or through the wireless. All the lights on the front of the router are on like the power, internet, and wireless connectivity. Also the the two WAN ports my computers are connected to in the router the lights are on and it's recognising them. But I can't connect to the internet or even see the router on my network settings. Somone suggested to reconfigure the router but when i go to set up new connection my computer doesn't detect the router and also i cant connect to the router using the ip address 192.168.1.1/ since there is no internet connection. Is there a way to get to the router options or a way to revert it to its old firmware.
I recently updated my WRT54G V3 to frimware 4.21.5 and now get regular wireless connection issues. The wired connection never has any problem (can connect to the router and the internet), but none of the wireless devices can see either.
The problem happens every couple of days, and cycling the power seems to be the only fix. When the problem does occur, the wireless devices don't even see the broadcasted SSID. But cycling the WRT54G's power fixes that.
I've gotten a few suggestions to do a "30-30-30" reset, but can't find exactly what that entails.
My quickvpn setup has been working great for a few years but it stop working recently with the following error message in wget_request_error.txt: HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 501 Not Implemented 20:10:10 ERROR 501: Not Implemented.quickvpn hangs on the dreaded verifying network stage.Checked VPN router logs and also quickVPN client logs and confirmed the tunnel has been created successfully. However the ping was unsuccessful.I look through the forum and confirmed that my quickvpn user account and password only contains alphanumeric characters.
I'm using the Linksys WRT160N V3 for testing a few ambedded applications.I need to set the speed of operation of the router to 100Mbps. (or at least find out what speed it currently supports) I looked up the router home page and couldn't find anything concrete.
I've set up a USB drive to be shared via the router (tried both a fat32 and an NTFS drive). When I login from a windows machine I can use the share point without any problems. When I try to use it from a Mac (mounted via smb://192.168.1.1/sharepoint) I can access the folders and download files. I can even create folders. When I try to copy a file onto the share point (normal file name, small file size) I get an error saying "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items." The console log says: "7/3/09 1:01:06 AM kernel smbfs_composeacl: smbfs_setattr 13, ignored "
If I try to copy the file directly via a terminal window I see this:
I have an E1000 that is connected to my main computer via Ethernet and have found that it crashes almost every time I run a particular type of operation.I'm testing software and running PHP scripts that invoke cUrl to fetch data from a few different web services via SSL. I would say that at least every other time one of these operations begins, the router crashes -- I am unable to ping its internal IP and I have to power-cycle it to get back up and running.
I don't experience the crashes in any other context and I use the router all day long. I'm one release behind on firmware but the release notes on the most recent version don't suggest that upgrading would make any difference -- no mention of any bugs fixed, for example.
This is my second post today trying to fix the NAT types for my 2 xbox 360. I tried the port forwarding method but with this router when I enable the ports I lost internet access in my wired devices but my wireless devices still have internet access. I even lost internet access on my computer. I never had manu problems with a router trying to get my NAT type open on my 2 xbox.
When I bought my E1200 router my primary (in fact only) computer was a Windows laptop. Since that time I bought a MacBook Pro and have been using that as my primary computer. The Mac is running on the latest OS (Mountain Lion).
I would like to install the latest software to maintain the router on my Mac but I was told several months ago that there was no update available for Mountain Lion. If that has changed, and if so then where can I download the appropriate software?
I have an EA2700 which I am trying to rollback to the older interface, however it errors out every time I try to install the firmware. All I ever get is this message: Unexpected Error The firmware update did not complete successfully. Please try again later. We've encountered an unexpected error. If the issue continues, please visit our Technical Support site.I've reset the router multiple times, powered it off overnight, re-downloaded the file multiple times, and am still unable to successfully rollback. Sometimes it even errors out when I try to set the password on the router itself and I have to reset it again before I can use the interface.
I know that Cisco Cloud Connect was released fairly recently. I also know that the e4200v2 was supposed to be a supported router from last generation for Cisco Cloud Connect. However, when I go to the upgrade firmware option on my router settings, it says that I have the most up to date firmware.
How do I get CIsco Cloud Connect setup on my e4200v2? Would I simply follow the manual install instructions for the ea4500 with the firmware for the ea4500?
I'm hoping that the updated firmware will fix an issue I'm having with getting a Seagate Expansion hard drive detected for the media server portion since I know a closely related hard drive was in the list of functioning external hard drives for the Cisco Connect Cloud firmware.
The update "failed," due to an "unexpected error." Wireless connection is disabled, although, as you have probably noticed, I can still connect to the internet (using an ethernet cable from my router to my laptop OSX 10.6.8). Error Code 3018 is unknown to Cisco's website. Or should I just start over with the installation disk for my E4200 router?
I recently purchased two x3000 devices. Both shipped with the 1.0.01 firmware installed.Upgraded one device in one location to the 1.0.03.001 release without issue.A day later i'm not trying from a second location to perform the same action.I've downloaded the FW_X3000_1.0.03.001.bin firmware from the Cisco downloads for the device and receive a pop up 'The image file is incorrect'.I've downloaded hte image twice and it appears to be correct in size. I'm following the same process that worked without issue the day previously.
i successfully configured my befsr81 router hardware version 3.1 with a dyndns hostname account. how often is it supposed to update? it doesnt seem to update till i login to the router through my browser. where is successfully updates. is there a way to choose how often it updates?
I am trying to update the driver for my WMP300N for Windows 7. I get a message from windows telling me that a registry key does not exsist. Is there a way to create the proper registry key or get a download that will update the registry? The download from linksys does not update the registry or create the key.
I'm looking to upgrade my WRT54G as I have had NO luck in getting my Galaxy Tab to connect through it so far (can connect and get an IP address but can't get out to the web) and have had intermittent problems with my Blu-ray lately. I am looking for something with the best affordable range, live 3 floors down from the current one and get about 3/4 signal strength so there's not much interference it seems. I watch a lot of online content through Hulu, Netflix, and LMB games and share with 2 other people.I am looking at the E series, probably the E1200, 1500 or 1550 as they seem to meet my needs. Any users have any advice about the ease of install and use of either of these? Or would it be better to get a gateway as we are considering going from DSL to U-verse service, twice the speed for $2/month more
Why below simple PBR is not implemented in H/W knowing the Copp is not configured

i got this wireless router (linksys version WRT54G) from my aunt but she can't find the disc for it. is there a way to use it without buying anything (this is mainly for my wii), if so how?
I have an old wireless router lying behind me and I want to use that old router as a switch. That old router is a knock-off,no-name router brand called "Gigafast" and the model number is WF19-CAPR. There are also variants to that router name as well. The router that I currently have is a Linksys WRT54G wireless-G router. I'm planning to upgrade the wireless router in favor of Wireless-N in the near future.I want to know how can I use that particular Gigafast router as a switch and I want to link that router up to my WRT54G router. The scenario goes as follows:
Cable internet connection ----> WRT54G router ---> Gigafast router (as a switch)
The IP address for the WRT54G router is 192.168.1.1, while the Gigafast router is 192.168.1.254. I may know by now that I have to disable DHCP on the gigafast router and I have to change an IP address to something that is "not in range" with the WRT54G router, am I right?I want to expand the number of ports, so I can connect with future devices such as a VoIP ATA adapter, a laptop and possibly an entertainment box (i.e. Apple TV or Boxee box)
have one router WRT54G with firmware version v2.02.7, Feb. 27, 2004, and I'm trying to use this router to get my PS3 connected to the internet, but in the PS3 appears that I'm using NAT Type 3 and to enable some online features in my PS3 I must change it to NAT Type 2 (from the router configuration), I tried everything that I found (put my PS3 in DMZ zone, enabling TCP/UDP ports, enabling/disabling UPnP, disabling Media Server Connections in my PS3, etc.) and nothing works,
Our office has 2 connections to the internet. Each connection comes into our building through a Linksys WRT54G router. I like to connect the routers together through their ethernet ports so that we can share resources such as printers and etc. Should I config each router such that they are actually on the same network? For example:Router 1:Router IP 192.168.1.1DHCP serves 192.168.1.100-150Router 2:Router IP 192.168.1.2DHCP serves 192.168.151-200
I have a WRT54G wireless router that I haven't used in years because my old cable provider supplied me with a router. I recently switched cable providers & they don't provide a wireless routers. I would like to use my WRT54G router, but I don't have the cd. I figured it wasn't a problem because I can just do a manual setup using the ip address 192.168.1.1. I receive the pop up window to enter the user name & password. I follow the instructions & just type in the password field the word admin & l left the user name blank but it doesn't work.
I have a few devices at my home that connect wirelessly to the internet via wrt54g. I want to connect to the internet via VPN. I would like to find out if it is possible to connect WRT54G router to the VPN via PPTP or L2TP? The VPN company provided me with PPTP and L2TP credentials. I can access vpn via OpenVPN on computers but I would like my TV connect to the internet also via VPN.
PC is running Windows/XP sp3 with all updates installed. It has no wireless adapter.WRT54G model number sticker shows ver.2. I don't think the firmware has ever been upgraded. This used to work. What has changed? The laptop that used to connect wireless is dead. I now have a 2nd PC that sits on the same table as the old PC. It has no wireless adapter at this point, but eventually either it, or the old computer, will be getting its internet connection wireless-ly, as the computers will be physically in separate rooms. I can't see how these changes would affect the operation of the router.
I have a WRT54G router that's worked for a very long time. I had WEP security set up and it worked fine until recently. About a week ago my three year old son managed to reset the router (I'm still not sure how). When I go onto the web-based setup page I am unable to change the wireless security setting. I select an option from the drop down menu but then the page reloads and nothing has changed.
WRT54G v6 router suddenly cuts out several times each day, using it with wired connection on two computers. No problem when direct wired to the modem. Is this router failing? How to fix it?
A few days ago I lost connection to the internet. The Status on the 54g does not show an IP address from the WAN(cable modem)If I connect the cable modem directly to the computer(wired) I can get online no problems. I can also access the 54g through 192.168.1.1. (wired)But if I connect the Cable modem to the 54g....no Internet This was my bootup.
1. Unplugged both cable and router.
2. Plug in cable wait for solid lights
3. plug in router wait for lights
4. plug in computer...connection established to router.... No Internet
I have a Model #WRT54G-V8 Linksys Router. I never set a password to keep my neighbors from accessing my router. I no longer have an Manual either. set a password or a manual to do that ?
how i should set up my new valet m-10.Im currently using a WRT54G as my main router connected to my modem in my home office, and a WAP54 set up as a repeater in the living Room. We have multiple devices still using Wireless G, and a few that have Wireless N so im wanting to use the valet just for my N devices and My WRT54 & WAP54 for the G. So do I just cascade the valet off the WRT54? or should I make the Valet the main Router and cascade the G routers? the reason I have the repeater is because the wireless signal is weak in the living room and bedrooms.
