View 9 RepliesA broadband cable modem is connected to the input of a new BEFSR41 4-port router. The router feeds 4 computers (a newer "primary" PC, and 3 secondary "old goats" that I use to print online grocery coupons). The 4 PC's are networked to share a common printer, a single directory on the "primary" PC, and using a 4-port KVM switch - I switch a single keyboard and mouse to whichever PC that I am using at the time.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased the Linksys E3000 router. My old network set up had been 100% wired, but with the new router we have converted to wireless on some of the internet capable devices. I have 2 pc's side by side in separate room from the router that we purchased wireless adapters for, the Linksys AE1000. One pc set up fine and accesses the internet with no issues. The second pc cannot connect the network. It sees the network with a good signal strength, but it times out when trying to connect.I called tech support and have been through a variety of things with them to no avail so far. Both of these pc's are running Windows XP SP3. On the one that won't connect, have already confirmed in device manager that the adapter is correctly installed. I uninstalled it, rebooted, reinstalled it anyway with no luck. With tech support already tried disabling the 5ghz band and changing the channel on the 2.4ghz band to 11.I have confirmed several times I am entering the password in correctly, and I did pay attention to case sensitivity. When I run ipconfig/all, it says under Media State: Media Disconnected.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I recently updated my desktop to windows 7 and I have lost the CD for my E3000 router. My desktop doesn't have a wireless adapter I always had it set up on a direct connection. So I went to the E3000 support and downloaded the software on my laptop and burned it to a DVD and put it in my desktop so I could update the drivers manually and be able to connect to the internet. But it seems the software only supported wireless connections, am I just sol? Is there some way to get my desktop to update the drivers for the router?

View 4 Replies View RelatedE3000 uses WPA secutiry...Nintendo DS ONLY works with WEP security.
Can I change my E3000 to WEP? on a Nintendo support site per this issue, it says:
Routers using the Cisco Connect software default to WPA security, which is not compatible with online multiplayer with Nintendo DS Game Cards. To change your wireless security mode to WEP, you will need to use your router's web utility instead of Cisco Connect.
A) is that true
B) if so....HOW?
Bottom line, I NEED to be able to do this. If it's not possible, than I made a very bad purchase decision & will never do so again
I just bought an ea6500 to replace my old Billion router and up to now all I've had to do is plug my phone line directly into the "phone line in" port on the back of the billion router. But I see there is no "phone line in" port on the ea6500, I don't use a modem and have used the billion router by itself for the past 6 years, is there a way to connect my phone line directly to the ea6500 somehow? My research so far indicates you can't do it via an 'Ethernet / phone line adaptor' as they are incompatable anyway.
The install guide seems to expect a Modem is being used but in my case it hasn't been and I would think a router should perform the basic functions of a modem anyway ?
My concern is that if I really need to purchase a modem then won't this potentially 'throttle' the capabilities of the ea6500 which is the reason I've bought it in the first place ?
If I do need to purchase a modem to get my ea6500 working then what specs should I be looking for ??
I have the WRT120N. It seems to work for the computer and for Netflix through the BluRay, but I cannot connect my Kindle, my son's Kindle or either my ormy husband's phones anymore. They used to work.
Also, the free trial of Network Magic is over and it can no longer be purchased. Do I really need something like that?
I recently purchased a smart phone that can use my wireless access to get to the internet, however the phone cannot connect. I have verified that I am using the correct password and it is finding the network just fine, it just can't connect. I have had this problem with my laptops as well, but with them I just copied the key to a USB key and used that to get them going. I don't have that ability with the smart phone.
how to best troubleshoot this issue and resolve it? I have also reset the router to allow anonymous internet access with no positive result there either.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had my E3000 for almost a year now and it's been great - until recently. Latencies have become patchy for some users and most surprisingly, the 5GHz network has stopped using two channels. I did a 30/30/30 reset on it a few minutes ago and re-configured the whole thing. It's set to use 40MHz Only and WPA2 Personal, but speeds at the physical layer are still just 144 Mbps and in the web interface's Status page it clearly says "20 MHz".
Why might this be? It was fine for so long, only to refuse to use two channels now. I've checked what the other wireless networks in my area are like, and none of them are even 5GHz-capable as far as I can tell, so the relevant spectrum shouldn't be overcrowded. It's rather nice to have the two channels for NAS transfers and streaming and such.
After manually specifying a base channel (48 at the moment), it actually kicks into 40MHz. The problem is now that my clients, both using a WUSB600N, are getting "Unable to connect to (SSID)" pretty much instantly after clicking the network in Windows.
I have a cable modem with an E3000 router, wired to my desktop. Internet connection is fine for my desktop, wired to Xbox, wifi for Iphone, Ipod, but no connectivity to my laptop wirelessly. I have run the repair automatically on my laptop (Windows 7) and get 2 different messages when trying over and over to use this tool. 1. Network Configuration Problem 2. Problem with wireless adapter or access point. I get a "fail" when trying this:
1. If your client device has a Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ button, click or press that button and then click the button on the right. or when putting in the router's pin number.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the E3000 router. I set it up about a month ago and had my laptop and iphones and ipads all hooked up and working great. About two weeks ago, all of my devices are having problems connecting to the network and if they do connect, it is unstable (slow speeds or constantly dropping from the network). I know it is not the internet due to the fact that my LAN connection (hardwired) runs great. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why. I have restored to factory defauls and started over setting it up with no change in performance. I have the latest drivers on the router and the laptop. I thought maybe it was vista and my laptop or network card, but the fact that I cannot get my phones or ipads to connect with good performance I am starting to think it is something to do with the router. Also, just for more info, I am using Chater cable internet. I am running vista 64x on the laptop.

Not sure how I got here, but I cannot now connect to the E3000 using the Browser Utility. USing https://10.x.x.x, shows certificate warning page, then when I continue "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".DId NOT change the host hame.Last time I used the Browser Utility (weeks ago) was to disable the wireless to check something. Reenabled the wireless, no apparent problems until today when I tried to access via the Browser Utility. As I never ran Connect, there are no settings to change, and now it cannot detect the device.I guess I'll wait until I HAVE to change something, and do a 30-30-30 reset.

I spent hours with my tech guy setting up the router so that I was getting excellent internet speed and the connection between my computer and my nas was maximized. In the process of setting up the router my laptop (Windows 7) and the basement laptop (Vista) were set up to access the router. Both work perfectly. These are now the only two devices in the house that can get internet access. The other devices that should connect are:
-2 Laptops (both Vista)
-1 iPhone 4
-2 iPhone 3gs
-1 Printer
I can't get them to connect. I spent an hour with a guy at Cisco tonight who just couldn't seem to get past the idea that it was not the laptop that was the problem.
When I try to connect to my Motorola Droid 2 cell phone--using my home network--it just cycles between "obtaining IP address" and "remembered.secured with WEP", then back to "obtaining IP address", etc.I have connected in the past with no problem, so it had the password in the phone, but I followed the troubleshooting advice at the Droid 2 site and "forgot" that contact, and reconnected, reinputting the password. Still the same thing.
