Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 DDNS Not Updating?

View 2 RepliesI know that Cisco Cloud Connect was released fairly recently. I also know that the e4200v2 was supposed to be a supported router from last generation for Cisco Cloud Connect. However, when I go to the upgrade firmware option on my router settings, it says that I have the most up to date firmware.
How do I get CIsco Cloud Connect setup on my e4200v2? Would I simply follow the manual install instructions for the ea4500 with the firmware for the ea4500?
I'm hoping that the updated firmware will fix an issue I'm having with getting a Seagate Expansion hard drive detected for the media server portion since I know a closely related hard drive was in the list of functioning external hard drives for the Cisco Connect Cloud firmware.
The update "failed," due to an "unexpected error." Wireless connection is disabled, although, as you have probably noticed, I can still connect to the internet (using an ethernet cable from my router to my laptop OSX 10.6.8). Error Code 3018 is unknown to Cisco's website. Or should I just start over with the installation disk for my E4200 router?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two of the Wrvs 4400n V2 VPN (V2.0.2.1-ETSI) routers in different countries, one in the UK and one in Australia. They are permanently linked using the IPSec VPN tunnel and the dynamic DNS feature (DynDNS.org). I have found that the router in the UK does not update its IP address automatically to the dns website when the UK Internet service provider changes the WAN IP of this router. This makes the IPSEC tunnel go down until I telephone the UK location and ask to force the router to update its IP address with dyndns by restarting it or by using the routers configuration to re-save the password for dynamic dns.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been struggling to find a DDNS provider from which the IP address can be updated from a Cisco device. One does not seem to support it, (Free-DDNS) other must be paid for (No-IP.org) while the free version does not update the IP address in my case, etc, etc.The device that is directly behind my modem is a Cisco 1801 router. My question is, which DDNS provider works for you when auto-updating the IP address via the Cisco router?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I bought my E1200 router my primary (in fact only) computer was a Windows laptop. Since that time I bought a MacBook Pro and have been using that as my primary computer. The Mac is running on the latest OS (Mountain Lion).
I would like to install the latest software to maintain the router on my Mac but I was told several months ago that there was no update available for Mountain Lion. If that has changed, and if so then where can I download the appropriate software?
I have an EA2700 which I am trying to rollback to the older interface, however it errors out every time I try to install the firmware. All I ever get is this message: Unexpected Error The firmware update did not complete successfully. Please try again later. We've encountered an unexpected error. If the issue continues, please visit our Technical Support site.I've reset the router multiple times, powered it off overnight, re-downloaded the file multiple times, and am still unable to successfully rollback. Sometimes it even errors out when I try to set the password on the router itself and I have to reset it again before I can use the interface.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi just updated my firmware on my wrt54g ver 2 router, went through all the steps it updated successfully after that i hit the reset button and unplugged the router as tehe online instructions said to. Now i can't connect to the interent at all with either of my two wired computers or through the wireless. All the lights on the front of the router are on like the power, internet, and wireless connectivity. Also the the two WAN ports my computers are connected to in the router the lights are on and it's recognising them. But I can't connect to the internet or even see the router on my network settings. Somone suggested to reconfigure the router but when i go to set up new connection my computer doesn't detect the router and also i cant connect to the router using the ip address 192.168.1.1/ since there is no internet connection. Is there a way to get to the router options or a way to revert it to its old firmware.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently updated my WRT54G V3 to frimware 4.21.5 and now get regular wireless connection issues. The wired connection never has any problem (can connect to the router and the internet), but none of the wireless devices can see either.
The problem happens every couple of days, and cycling the power seems to be the only fix. When the problem does occur, the wireless devices don't even see the broadcasted SSID. But cycling the WRT54G's power fixes that.
I've gotten a few suggestions to do a "30-30-30" reset, but can't find exactly what that entails.
After a storm in my neighborhood my wireless router was reset. It is a wrt54g purchased in 2007. I had to reinstall the Easy Link Advisor from the net because the disk I had did not work with Windows 7. Everything went OK, however, I am not able to add a password. I keep getting the following error message: Error Updating Devise The Method or Operation is not Implemented. How do I get around this issue and install some sort of security for my home network? My wireless network was named genesis50 now it went back to linksys. How do I change the name back? The hard wired system still shows as genesis50.

I have a device that requires DDNS, and I do not want to mess with firmware updates. I've already bricked a router trying to do that. So I'm looking for a replacement router that requires little to no modifications to use a free DDNS provider.
I am trying to update the driver for my WMP300N for Windows 7. I get a message from windows telling me that a registry key does not exsist. I recently updated my firmware for a DIR-601 router and have internet while hardwired, but no wireless. I saved the configuration settings before updating, but this doesn't even matter because my wireless router doesn't even show up in the list of available wireless network connections. Why isn't my router showing up? I tried a few things like unplugging it and resetting it, but nothing seems to work.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUpgraded from WRT610N to E4200. Since upgrading to latest firmware the wan just disappears both 5 and 2.5 Ghz bands. Happened with older firmware but not as often. Using it in briged mode. When this happens I can't even get to the management page with a lan connected pc. Have to do a hard reboot to get it to respond again. This is unacceptable for a router at this price point.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am connecting the E4200 to a Sonicwall TZ100. I want the TZ100 to assign IP addresses to devices that connect to the LAN via the E4200.
How do I have the E4200 act as a WAP only or not assign IP addresses and push that responsibility to the TZ100?
I'd still want the E4200 to have a SID key for LAN access security.
I have a 6 month old Cisco e-4200 router that is updated to the latest firmware, connected to a Motorola surfboard modem on Sudden-link in Midland, TX.
I previously used this exact same setup on Cox Cable in Wichita, KS with no problems. Upon setting it up down here I cannot get the router to pickup an IP address. I have Power-cycled everything multiple times, did a complete reset and re-installation of the router software and still no luck. The Sudden-link techs have no idea what is wrong. They said that the modems signal is strong and everything should be working.
Actually I did get it to work once for a couple of days, however when redoing the surround sound system I had to unhook the cable line and it quit working and I haven't gotten it to work again since. I have tried unhooking everything. Turning it all off. Waiting for 5+minutes, and then reconnecting in order: First the modem, then an ethernet cable to the computer which will usually work. But as soon as I unplug the cable from the computer and plug it into the router it stops working.
I bought Linksys E4200, at a time that is the TOP of the line Cisco routers for Home use.I noticed a serious usage issue with it, I could not identify which are the wifi devices connected to choose for access restriction or parental controls, as the dialog box state only as "Network device", and software control by Linksys does not have any provision to use MAC ID or any other option "except " looking at the dialog box as "Network device".

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just received by replacement e4200 v1. I updated the firmware to 1.0.03 build 14 and am up and running just fine. The specs say e4200 should be 300+450Mbps. I am using a software "inSSider 2.0" to view my wireless setup. I get 144(N) at 2.4GHz and 450(N) at 5.2GHz. Please note these are max bit rates and not connect speed or throughput rate. The "inSSider" software gives me the following:
2.4GHz - 1/2/5.5/6/7/9/11/12/14/18/22/124/28/29/36/43/44/48/54/58/65/72/86/116/130/144
5.2GHz - 6/9/12/15/18/24/30/36/45/48/54/60/90/120/135/150/180/240/270/300/360/405/450
I get this information by hovering on the max bit rate field on the row displaying my SSID. So is it correct to say that my e4200 is not designed to reach 300Mbps at 2.4GHz. There is an earlier discussion thread about connection maxing out 144. Please note I am not talking about connect speed or thru-put speed. Max design bit rates of dual band router labeled e4200.
Just got a e4200. However I also have a cisco av power line adapter which worked fine. However when connecting to the 4200 it doesn't recognize the Internet. Have rebooted, reset switched ports etc. But it still doesn't work. It sees the network but not the Internet. Have tried everything ikon but no luck. Cannot connect my directive to the Internet. If I can't get it to work will have to run a 50 foot cable.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirmware 1.0.00 on my E4200 Hardware v1.0 provided a functioning 6to4 tunnel through Comcast's 6to4 facility. Windows and Linux clients on my local network discovered IPv6 addresses and were able to use them successfully.Unfortunately, after the upgrade to 1.0.03 this functionality was gone. I missed reading the ChangeLog, which said that the automatic tunneling feature was removed in 1.0.01. The now provided IPv6 functionality works much less well. First, automatic configuration (discovery of the 6to4 via IPv4 anycast) no longer works with Comcast's gateway. If I configure the tunnel manually, by specifying a 2002/16 prefix, I regain IPv6 connectivity, but only for Linux clients on my local network.
Windows 7 clients suffer from the problem that because the E4200 hands out ULA addresses, they end up preferring those ULA addresses when making global IPv6 connections in the IP 'source' field, which of course does not work. It's like putting your company mailbox code as the return address on a letter you send via US Mail. Other home routers, such as the AVM Fritz! (url,...) suffer from the same problem. However, they provide an option to turn off ULA at the router. Is it possible to turn off ULA for the E4200?
