I recently purchased a new router (WRT54G Ver.6) and the initial setup went well. however, when I try to connect my xbox 360 to this network, the DNS does not resolve and it fails every time. what should I do?

I'm paranoid that it's something I've downloaded... even though that I'm always careful not to get anything off mistrustful websites! As soon as I download Kill Bill for my gf everything just goes straight to.... ! Would a file even be able to dis-able a router wireless capability? None. of my computers are infected but this is still seriously questionable.

My WRT54G router is already feeding 2 wireless PC's with no problem. Haven't been as successful getting my new Samsung Series 7 TV wireless connection working. The TV screen prompts for a 'security key', but once entered, tells me the connection is unsuccessful. The TV does not provide any specific error message - just tells me to re-enter the security key and/or re-start the router (which I have done many times with no success). I am entering the 'Encryption key' from the WRT54G router when prompted by the Samsung TV for the 'security key'.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried looking for solutions on the windows seven forums and all over Google but none of them worked.The problem is, sometimes I get an "Unidentified Network, No Internet Access" error on my laptop (wireless). When this happens, the lan speed drops to 1.0 mbps and I get the "No Data Received" error when I try to load pages.My internet is on fine and my brother can access the internet fine on a desktop which is wired to the router and modem. My mom's notebook sometimes gets this error as well.

Is there any real solution for this problem or known compatibility problems between my WRT54G (version 1.1 I think) and Windows 7? Really need a solution to this, before I had to re-setup my whole connection, I didn't get such a problem. My laptop doesn't get the error in the school network either.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been viewing some videos streamed through the EA6500 from a Qnap 419p II NAS, and several video files are playing back extremely choppy.I can confirm that the video files play fine on the Xbox360 using a USB key and have also previously streamed these videos without any problems using a Belkin Wireless Pre-N router (that I upgraded from) streamed from the same NAS.I've attempted to configure the Media Prioritization feature, but haven't noticed any different results. I have also adjusted other various settings that haven't affected the playback in any way.

My only guess is that some of the files are encoded in a format that the router is struggling with - the video files are not HD videos, and their bitrates are generally quite low - if my old Belkin router can do it, the EA6500 shouldn't have any problems either.
I have a few devices at my home that connect wirelessly to the internet via wrt54g. I want to connect to the internet via VPN. I would like to find out if it is possible to connect WRT54G router to the VPN via PPTP or L2TP? The VPN company provided me with PPTP and L2TP credentials. I can access vpn via OpenVPN on computers but I would like my TV connect to the internet also via VPN.

My problem is that whenever 2 devices have joined the wireless network, I will not be able to do so despite placing the laptop or iPhone right next to the router, hence getting excellent signal strength. Or, if I am already connected to the network, I get knocked out repeatedly. I don't think it is a hardware or software issue because I'm still able to connect and get a very stable connection after someone leaves the wireless network.This is getting frustrating and I have tried all ways and means to resolve this but to no avail. Is this about some setting that I can tweak, e.g. to allow more users onto the network? But this has already been configured to '50'!
I could not log into any of the 4 FTP sites that I normally update without immediately getting disconnected. The message I am getting from the servers is "Port command failed, error loading directory - disconnected". To save some time and posts, here are the facts....1.) It is definately not my DSL modem. When I connect directly with the modem, without a router, I can connect to FTP fine2.) I have already done a /flushdns in IPconfig.3.) I have already done the typical power off/power on/reboot procedure numerous times.4.) I have already tried PASV mode, and tried turning PASV mode off as well.5.) My login information is correct, and I have problems on multiple sites.6.) This problem has been reported before by other users of WRT54G, but the other forums I see have no solution to the problem.7.) I have already tried using other PC's and different FTP clients on my home network. No matter which PC or laptop I use behind the router firewall, I can't maintain FTP connection. 8.) I have never had to open ports to be able to connect to FTP, since I am the one doing the request. I did also try opening ports 20 and 21. 9.) XP firewall is disabled. 10.) I have tried both ethernet ports on my PC. But then again, that is irrelevant because none of my other PC's which connect wirelessly, can connect either.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI my parents have a WRT54G linksys router, they have a DSL modem. Everything was working fine with the wireless network until one random day POOF! the wireless no longer would connect on laptops. However, the internet is working just fine with the computer that is hardwired up throught the router. Since this is working it lets me know that the router is working fine and routing the connection through hardwire. Hard wired works on laptops but all laptops are unable to join the network and most of the time it will not show up in the list of available networks.Even my iphone wont connect saying unable to join network. We bought a brand new linksys router and same problem. I then took his old router to my house and hooked it up...and WOW it works as it should all devices can connect...even my iphone.

My ipod detects the wifi network but when i select it , it asks for password. now i dont know which password is this bcoz everytime i poer on my computer or laptop i never type a password b4 accessing internet.. it is auto connected. i know the admin password for my router but that is denied by ipod to connect to internet. Then I plugged in the DSL modem. I waited for the lights to stop blinking. Then I plugged in the WRT54G and waited for LEDs to show connection. Then I plugged the ethernet cord from the WRT54G to the computer. Then I turned on the computer. I was able to access the Interface for the WRT54G but I was not able to connect to the internet. I tried power cycling multiple times both the DSL modem and the WRT54G. I was unable to access the internet. Finally I plugged the WRH54G back in and everything worked fine. why the old WRH54G can connect to the internet and the WRT54G cannot?

I power recycled etc but when I connect to the router, it says limited connectivity. It shows autoconfigurtion ip:169.254.251.135. I don't know why this is so.I don't have the setup cd disk but I read the users' guide and it seems that I really don;t need the cd. But no matter what I do , I can't get to 192.168.1.1 .

View 1 Replies View RelatedChecked cable router (brighthouse), working. Router (all lights on but network traffic flashing indicates one way traffic). So I go to my wife's computer. It too has no connection. I open my laptop to connect to the wireless, IT WORKS! Pull power on Cable Modem and Router, wait 60 secs, power up Cable Modem and then power up Router (I know it wasn't nec to do modem but I wanted a clean start). Wireless is still working, no LAN. I can't even connect 192.168.1.1. Linksys software says it can't detect the modem. Reset time, hit the magic button in the back and sure enough everything stops working (which I figured). Still can't connect to it, and now I've lost wireless. I connect computer directly to Cable Modem and type this message. Seems to me that Router has failed.

I open the router using "admin", reset Wireless Security and reset my password. Wireless laptops, wireless camera now works fine but now iPhone will not connect? I have double checked the password, it is the same as the router. Is there something else in the router that needs changing for the iPhone connection?

Now, the computer sees the router but it won't connect to the internet. I have other computers that connect fine, so I thought it was the wireless adapter in my computer. It worked before I moved after I moved I can't connect via wireless. hard line works. i've tried resting to factor, i've tried not using ses, not using custom ssid. I've rest it like 5 times retarted the computers. I've hit the little cisco systems button on the front, this makes it work for a few minutes. When I hit the button it will go out then come back on white, and blink around 1-2 blinks per second, it will do this for maybe 1-2min. then stops and changes back to orange. and i get nothing from it. the WLAN light is on like it's working but I cannot detect it with my desktop or laptop, can i can detect 3 other routers around me. I've tried pretty much everything i know to do, tried flashing it, updating, about the only option i have left is throwing it out the window.

Upgraded to a new Linksys E4200 Router for faster wiress, default settings, and it won't connect to my switch, here is the breakdown...- No LED's light up when I plug the Switch into the E4200 LAN ports via patch cable (Switch has auto uplink so no crossover needed)- E4200 Ports work fine when I plug devices directly into them, LED's light up and everything.- Switch works fine when connected to the WRT54G, LED's on both devices light up when connected to eachother.- Tried different ports, different patch cables, even tried setting E4200 to bridge mode to just see if I could get the LED's to light up.

I am not able to connect to the internet through Linksys Wireless Router. Â I have tried pinging the default gateway of the ISP provided router IP from the router utility, "Diagnostic", but I am not able to ping it.
I cannot connect to the internet via the wireless network from my router. Currently, I can connect to the wireless network, however I cannot access the internet, but I am able to access the internet with an Ethernet cable in the same router. This is a fairly recent development as we have used this router for wireless internet access (our modem has a wireless network built into it, but it is unreliable) for upwards of 8 months now without problem. One day it simple restored itself to the default name and we were no longer able to access the internet through the wireless portion.
