Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54g V5 Won't Connect To Internet
Aug 28, 2011
I have a wrt54g v5 router. I cannot connect to the internet through my router. I called the cable company and they told me that the router probably reset from a power outtage and reconnect.†i power cycled, i tried to log onto the router via 192.168.1.1 but the connections were spanish to me.
Router: WRT54G Network: 802.11g (and I'm using WEP) Wifi Adapter: Intel R Centrino R Ultimate-n 6300 AGN No. of devices connected to wireless network: 5 † My problem is that whenever 2 devices have joined the wireless network, I will not be able to do so despite placing the laptop or iPhone right next to the router, hence getting excellent signal strength. Or, if I am already connected to the network, I get knocked out repeatedly.¬†I don't think it is a hardware or software issue because I'm still able to connect and get a very stable connection after someone leaves the wireless network. This is getting frustrating and I have tried all ways and means to resolve this but to no avail. Is this about some setting that I can tweak, e.g. to allow more users onto the network? But this has already been configured to '50'!
I am replacing a WRH54G with a WRT54G.  First I unplugged everything and waited 5 minutes. Then I plugged my ethernet cord from the DSL modem into the WRT54G. Then I plugged in the DSL modem. I waited for the lights to stop blinking. Then I plugged in the WRT54G and waited for LEDs to show connection. Then I plugged the ethernet cord from the WRT54G to the computer. Then I turned on the computer. I was able to access the Interface for the WRT54G but I was not able to connect to the internet. I tried power cycling multiple times both the DSL modem and the WRT54G. I was unable to access the internet. Finally I plugged the WRH54G back in and everything worked fine. why the old WRH54G can connect to the internet and the WRT54G cannot?
My router used to work. I updated the firmware to 4.21. xx and after that I can't connect to internet. When I connect directly to modem, I can go to the internet . I power recycled etc but when I connect to the router, it says limited connectivity.  It shows autoconfigurtion ip:169.254.251.135. I don't know why this is so.I don't have the setup cd disk but I read the users' guide and it seems that I really don;t  need the cd. But no matter what I do , I can't get to 192.168.1.1 .
I have a WRT54G router and a Dell computer. I have been connecting wirelessly to this router with this computer for about 3 years. Now, the computer sees the router but it won't connect to the internet. I have other computers that connect fine, so I thought it was the wireless adapter in my computer. However, I went to someone else's house and connected perfectly.
When i connect my computer directly to my modem i could connect to the internet but when i connect the modem to the internet port on the WRT54G and then connect my computer to one of the ports on it i can't connect to the internet at all.
Due to some reason I had to reset my linksys router WRT54G and now I am not able to connect to internet using my router. I tried coupld of settings followings some suggestion over internet sites but doesn't work for me. Still I get no network access message.
I am using the following model and version: ¬† Model No.: WRT54G, Ver. 7.0ÔĽŅ ¬† I am not able to connect to the internet through Linksys Wireless Router. ¬†I have tried pinging the default gateway of the ISP provided router IP from the router utility, "Diagnostic", but I am not able to ping it.
I cannot connect to the internet via the wireless network from my router. Currently, I can connect to the wireless network, however I cannot access the internet, but I am able to access the internet with an Ethernet cable in the same router.†This is a fairly recent development as we have used this router for wireless internet access (our modem has a wireless network built into it, but it is unreliable) for upwards of 8 months now without problem. One day it simple restored itself to the default name and we were no longer able to access the internet through the wireless portion.
i just updated my firmware on my wrt54g ver 2 router, went through all the steps it updated successfully after that i hit the reset button and unplugged the router as tehe online instructions said to. Now i can't connect to the interent at all with either of my two wired computers or through the wireless. All the lights on the front of the router are on like the power, internet, and wireless connectivity. Also the the two WAN ports my computers are connected to in the router the lights are on and it's recognising them. But I can't connect to the internet or even see the router on my network settings. Somone suggested to reconfigure the router but when i go to set up new connection my computer doesn't detect the router and also i cant connect to the router using the ip address 192.168.1.1/ since there is no internet connection. Is there a way to get to the router options or a way to revert it to its old firmware.
I have WRT54G router.  The VIZIO VBR231 unit finds the network OK and indicates it is connected, but nothing will stream, and  when I run a Network Test it gives me this 3 line error:
Connection to 0.0.0.0... successfully established Resolving... could not be established Please check your connection and try again.   The VIZIO support folks were not beneficial at all, and said something about Port 80 or Port 43 not being open or available.  When I talked to linksys support, they said I needed to add the VIZIO player's IP (which appears to be 0.0.0.0 in the system settings).  I poked around a bit, including the Port Forwarding tab on the router setup, but could not see a way to assign 0.0.0.0 to one of these ports, and I am hesitant to experiment.   I'll probably just return the unit to Costco, but I'm trying this forum as a last ditch effort.  BTW I have a VIZIO internet TV that I love, and that had absolutely no problem at all connecting to the wireless.
I have a Linksys wireless router model WRT54G (not sure the exact model, it's not in front of me right now). It has worked flawlessly for the past several years, but for some reason has recently stopped working. I confirmed it's not a problem with the DSL Modem, as I can hard wire connect to my laptop and the internet works fine. It's clear something is wrong with the wireless router. I've tried unplugging, hitting the reset button on the back, and nothing has worked. My computer is able to recognize/locate the router and connect, it's just that I can't connect to the internet. One thing I've noticed under the wireless connection is that the computer is able to "send" packets, but not "receive." My experience is that this is always the case when I experience connection problems, but I have no idea what that means. I was going to call the Help Line, but I see it costs $30 which is likely more than my router is worth and probably 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of a new one so I am trying to troubleshoot myself.
OS - Vista Home Premium x32 I have a modem (Comcast) connected to my router (Linksys wireless-g /wrt54g v6) connected to my desktop which runs Vista.recently i am unable to connect to internet using my desktop, but I am still able to use my wireless devices such as wii, laptop, phone, ipad etc. with problem When I first boot up computer I receive error UPnP device host has stopped working. I close that and I have no network connections (linksys or LAN connections-icons) in my network and sharing area. Nothing is listed. When i click diagnose issue i receive the follow error A CABLE IS NOT PLUGGED INTO THE NETWORK ADAPTER "LOCAL AREA CONNECTION* 12" I have changed ethernet cords but still the same error. Nothng has been changed and as stated worked fine 2 days ago. I also did IPCONFIG and all i receive are ETHERNET ADAPTER LOCAL AREA CONNECTION* 12 MEDIA STATE.....MEDIA DISCONNECTED and so on. No IP address is listed.
I have a few devices at my home that connect wirelessly to the internet via wrt54g. I want to connect to the internet via VPN. I would like to find out if it is possible to connect WRT54G router to the VPN via PPTP or L2TP? The VPN company provided me with PPTP and  L2TP credentials. I can access vpn via OpenVPN on computers but I would like my TV connect to the internet also via VPN.
I have a WRT54G router and although the local connection works the wireless does not. I have tried unpluging the router and replugging, holding the reset button for 30 seconds powering off 30 seconds and then plugging back it for 30 seconds. The ipconfig /all is below.   Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : TN-PCPrimary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : HybridIP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : NoWINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : NoDNS Suffix
I could not log into any of the 4 FTP sites that I normally update without immediately getting disconnected. The message I am getting from the servers is "Port command failed, error loading directory - disconnected". To save some time and posts, here are the facts....1.) It is definately not my DSL modem. When I connect directly with the modem, without a router, I can connect to FTP fine2.) I have already done a /flushdns in IPconfig.3.) I have already done the typical power off/power on/reboot procedure numerous times.4.) I have already tried PASV mode, and tried turning PASV mode off as well.5.) My login information is correct, and I have problems on multiple sites.6.) This problem has been reported before by other users of WRT54G, but the other forums I see have no solution to the problem.7.) I have already tried using other PC's and different FTP clients on my home network. No matter which PC or laptop I use behind the router firewall, I can't maintain FTP connection. 8.) I have never had to open ports to be able to connect to FTP, since I am the one doing the request. I did also try opening ports 20 and 21. 9.) XP firewall is disabled. 10.) I have tried both ethernet ports on my PC. But then again, that is irrelevant because none of my other PC's which connect wirelessly, can connect either.
I my parents have a WRT54G linksys router, they have a DSL modem.  Everything was working fine with the wireless network until one random day POOF! the wireless no longer would connect on laptops.  However, the internet is working just fine with the computer that is hardwired up throught the router.  Since this is working it lets me know that the router is working fine and routing the connection through hardwire.  Hard wired works on laptops but all laptops are unable to join the network and most of the time it will not show up in the list of available networks.Even my iphone wont connect saying unable to join network.  We bought a brand new linksys router and same problem.  I then took his old router to my house and hooked it up...and WOW it works as it should all devices can connect...even my iphone.
i have a LINKSYS  WRT54G router .. i bought an apple ipod touch recently  and i am unable to connect it to my wifi network. My ipod detects the wifi network but when i select it , it asks for password. now i dont know which password is this bcoz everytime i poer on my computer or laptop i never type a password b4 accessing internet.. it is auto connected. i know the admin password for my router but that is denied by ipod to connect to internet. Is there any other password we have to give for connecting deveices through LINKSYS or some changes i need to do in my connection ?
I have a new android, MyTouch Q, through T-mobile.  The phone says it is connected and the wireless icon appears, but I can't access any data or websites.  I've done a hard reset, unplugged both the router and the modem for several minutes, called the phone manufacturer (LG), the carrier (t-mobile), and the internet provider (Cox cable).
Checked cable router (brighthouse), working. Router (all lights on but network traffic flashing indicates one way traffic). So I go to my wife's computer. It too has no connection. I open my laptop to connect to the wireless, IT WORKS! Pull power on Cable Modem and Router, wait 60 secs, power up Cable Modem and then power up Router (I know it wasn't nec to do modem but I wanted a clean start). Wireless is still working, no LAN. I can't even connect 192.168.1.1. Linksys software says it can't detect the modem. Reset time, hit the magic button in the back and sure enough everything stops working (which I figured). Still can't connect to it, and now I've lost wireless. I connect computer directly to Cable Modem and type this message. Seems to me that Router has failed.
All networking had been working great until recent power failure.  Then laptops failed to connect, found my router WRT54G had become insecure. I open the router using "admin", reset Wireless Security and reset  my password. Wireless laptops, wireless camera now works fine but now iPhone will not connect? I have double checked the password, it is the same as the router. Is there something else in the router that needs changing for the iPhone connection?   [code]...
My 'network' looks like this:   CABLE MODEM ===> WRT54G WRT54G Port1 ===> PC   PC is running Windows/XP sp3 with all updates installed. It has no wireless adapter.WRT54G model number sticker shows ver.2. I don't think the firmware has ever been upgraded. This used to work. What has changed? The laptop that used to connect wireless is dead. I now have a 2nd PC that sits on the same table as the old PC. It has no wireless adapter at this point, but eventually either it, or the old computer, will be getting its internet connection wireless-ly, as the computers will be physically in separate rooms. I can't see how these changes would affect the operation of the router.
Im running a linksys wireless router, WRT54G V6 with firmware 1.02.8. It worked before I moved after I moved I can't connect via wireless. hard line works. i've tried resting to factor, i've tried not using ses, not using custom ssid. I've rest it like 5 times retarted the computers. I've hit the little cisco systems button on the front, this makes it work for a few minutes. When I hit the button it will go out then come back on white, and blink around 1-2 blinks per second, it will do this for maybe 1-2min. then stops and changes back to orange. and i get nothing from it. the WLAN light is on like it's working but I cannot detect it with my desktop or laptop, can i can detect 3 other routers around me. I've tried pretty much everything i know to do, tried flashing it, updating, about the only option i have left is throwing it out the window.
I am trying to replaced our wired router (BEFSR41) with a wireless router (WRT54G V5) that we have floating around.  When connected through the wireless router, I am unable to access 192.168.1.1.  I went to the command prompt and The IP Address and the Default gateway are both blank.  I even tried to manually set the default gateway to 192.168.1.1 but I was still unable to connect.  Currently, I am connected directly to the modem so that I may use the internet for troubleshooting.  I've tried releasing and renewing the ip, but it will not renew.
My BOSS have a  iPhone 3GS. He tells me that iPhone wireless connect to his home AP. Why he has to input password everyday whenever he first time wireless connects to WRT54G at office. What should I do for my BOSS to wireless connect to WRT54G without input password everyday? By the way, I set wireless security as WAP2-personal AES.
I had a Linksys WRT54G Router with a Netgear GS116 Switch and everything worked great. Upgraded to a new Linksys E4200 Router for faster wiress, default settings, and it won't connect to my switch, here is the breakdown...- No LED's light up when I plug the Switch into the E4200 LAN ports via patch cable (Switch has auto uplink so no crossover needed)- E4200 Ports work fine when I plug devices directly into them, LED's light up and everything.- Switch works fine when connected to the WRT54G, LED's on both devices light up when connected to eachother.- Tried different ports, different patch cables, even tried setting E4200 to bridge mode to just see if I could get the LED's to light up.
I recently purchased a new router (WRT54G Ver.6) and the initial setup went well. however, when I try to connect my xbox 360 to this network, the DNS does not resolve and it fails every time. what should I do?
Yesterday i was playing online on my Xbox 360, and was disconnected from the internet. I came downstairs to reset router/modem, once doing so i went into the router settings for my Linksys WRT54G. My modem by default uses the 192.168.1.1, so my router was 192.168.2.1... So i powercycle, log into router settings through 192.168.2.1 and start setting up my port forwarding for the xbox ports. Saved Settings, and the page would not load to say "Settings Saved". Closed the window and now my pc says no internet connection. I had to create a VPN broadband connection to even use the internet on my pc. I can no longer log into 192.168.2.1 for my router, nor can i access 192.168.1.1 to even get into my modem settings.. I'm using windows 7, and the automatic troubleshooting guide tells me to powercycle my modem. My xbox can still see my wireless network "linksys" but will not connect to it, even with the VPN connection i am still hooked though my router and modem.. Im afraid that my router just out of nowhere "died"..
I recently had an issue with my laptop that required a complete reinstall of windows. As if this wasn't bad enough, I lost the password that I had for my router. Thinking it was no big deal I just went ahead and reset the router back to factory settings assuming I would be able to set up a network and encrypt it as I had before. Just testing the functionality, I was able to access my router while it was not encrypted and with the DSL modem plugged in, I also had internet access. I did this both wireless and with Ethernet cable.   Happy to see this, I decided it would be a good idea to re-encrypt my router to prevent any outside access. So as I had done before I went to the setting page where I set up a network with a web key. The only thing I entered at all was the paraphrase for the key then saved the setting to test it out. I refreshed the available wireless networks and mine was there and was now listed as secure. I then proceeded to click on the network, entered the key, and then waited for it to connect. The problem is, it never would connect. It continuously tries to connect, and says it is trying to "acquire the network address" but never does. Since then I have been on the hunt trying many different suggestions I have seen online, but none of the situations were quite like this one.
