I could get a list of clients on the E3200 wireless (or wired) ports. I have my E3200 setup as a WAP LAN-LAN off a switch and it is not the DHCP server on the network. I can see a list of MACs on the client list, but no client names and no IP addresses. They are definitely named and show up on the WRT54GL (DHCP and NAT) as devices
View 5 RepliesI keep getting some additional IP addresses logging onto my home network that have an address outside what should be allowed by the router. The server is running at 192.168.2.1 and is set to only allow clients from 192.168.2.2 - 192.168.2.10 so a total of 9 clients should be allowed on.The problem is that something keeps logging in with an address of 192.168.169.2 or 3 etc. Sometimes more than one device at a time.I have assumed that it is some automated or virtual client as I'm pretty certain my network has not been breached. I have a 9 character password with a relatively random alphanumeric combination, although I haven't tried changing the password (I live in a share house with with a bunch of devices using wireless, so I haven't yet bothered). What I don't understand is how it has connected with the xx.xx.169.xx range at all. I have a Belkin 'Share' Wireless N Modem Router and at some stage there was a 'guest' network but that has since been disabled and I still am seeing the extra address. I have attached a screen shot of the DHCP client list on the router.The following is a list of devices that may be on the network at times, I'm thinking one of these may be responsible for the problem:
Windows Vista Desktop - Only LAN device
PS3
Macbook
Epson wireless printer
Android HTC Desire Mobile Phone
Laptops running various Windows versions (XP, Vista and 7)
A few thoughts I had:
- the android phone is capable of running a wireless hotspot, may have to look into it to see if if has been operating as an access point into the Belkin router, but assumed this wouldn't bring up clients connected to the phone on the home router.
- The desktop has PS3 Media server installed to stream video to the PS3 over the network (not that I have ever managed to get it to work), however this is not ever open on the desktop.
I picked up an E1200 and set it up successfully. I am using wireless MAC filtering, and decided to pull up the list of connected wireless clients (Wireless >> Wireless MAC Filter >> push "Wireless Client List" button).Immediately after this the Web UI of the E1200 becomes inaccessible. It still routes traffic, and the router remains pingable, but it will not allow access to the Web UI for several minutes. The error that appears upon attempt to access the Web UI during this time window is similar to the above, but reads "Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): The server refused the connection."
I have tried this in Google Chrome, Firefox 4, and MSIE on two separate computers. Each browser displays the error a bit differently (MSIE, for example, just says it can't display the page and gives no further detail) but the net results are always the same. I have tried resetting the device to factory defaults in addition to re-downloading the firmware from the Cisco/Linksys website and installing it. No improvement.
I have also noted that the Log (Administration >> Log; and yes, I have it enabled) doesn't appear to be picking up anything at all. In fact, the Security log, which supposedly (according to the Help) "displays the login information for the Router’s browser-based utility," is also blank.
Can the client lease time be set to never expire to prevent loss of connection for wireless printer with a permanent ip address on E3200? Or is there another way to ensure continuous connection?

Do the problem caused by the modems itself or it just sign of faulty Ethernet switch (using 20 port Allied Telesis ethernet switch).
Sometimes I cannot connect to internet due to "unidentified network" buy i can resolve this problem by restarting my modem + switch.
Ever since I updated my firmware to 1.01 my web interface for the network settings screen has been random. Somtimes it shows a DHCP reservation list, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes there are reservations, sometimes there are selectable radio buttons. I guess I'm just trying to figure out if this is a firmware issue or not. Ever since I updated the firmware it has been flakey.... But I was having issues with other stuff before that. When there are no reservations, sometimes i can't even select any computers because there aren't any in the drop down, when all of my hardware is online?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to access a VPN hosted on Windows 2003 Server using my Windows 7 SP1 / 64 bit laptop. I can establish the connection and even open Outlook and connect to the exchange server on the remote network. It seems that whenever I try to move files up or down or open Internet Explorer, the following sequence of events happens:
1) Connection between my local router (BEFRS41) and the internet is dropped.
2) The IP address on my local network adaptor changes to an unknown number (169.254.180.72) - is normally 192.168.1.104
3) The VPN connection drops and attempts to re-dial, but of course fails because my connection tot he internet has been broken.
Since I'm accessing rather than hosting the VPN, I'm not sure if I have to adjust any of the router settings.
i got a d-link router comming off modum and then a lynksys switch . well when i run the lorex program it (the switch) shows up as a router with a ip address ? i have tried a different swith but still the same thing happens .

* The C610 is directly connected to TD W8968 via the ethernet port number 3 >> ethernet port number 1 is connected to the devolo homeplug 200AVPLUS . The PC is at the other end of the homeplug network
* The DHCP address starts at 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.199.
Symptom:
1. It takes a long time (about 2-3 minutes) for the C610IP to obtain the IP address of 192.168.1.100 after the synchronisation of the ADSL line is finished 2. In the DHCP client list, I could only see the IP address of the PC (192.168.1.101) but not the C610 IP. However, if I type 192.168.1.100, I could access to the configuration page of the C610 IP. - I only managed to see the C610IP once in the DHCP client list.
I tried to unplug -> replug the router but to no avail.
I have a cable modem internet connection and my cable modem is connected to an ASA 5505. The inside interface of the ASA has an IP address of 192.168.2.2 and is connected to a Linksys router's internet port which has an IP address of 192.168.2.1. The Linksys router then has a local area network of 192.168.1.0 and all my clients are on that network. Everything is working fine except in my ASA logs all the traffic shows up as the router's external address which is 192.168.2.1. I would like to see the 192.168.1.x address of the clients in the ASA firewall. I've tried making some changes to the Linksys router but that hasn't resolved it. Is there any changes I can make on the ASA to get this to work?

I thought knew how to do this but having a problem.Steps I followed are:1. Disable the E3200 DHCP server2. Change E3200ip address from 192.168.1.1 to something else3. Connect it lan port to lan port with primaryrouter.The problem I am having is that after I finish step 2 the routerreboots with the browser trying to access it at the new ip address. So I've been checking my router DHCP list and I usually use the WPS feature to add devices. I know how many devices I have and which ones are wireless etc. I've made address reservations on all the devices that I have and know of. One feature that really frustrates me (which is missing) is no way to rename a device. My iPhone is named: Reggie's iPhone yet the 4300 picks it up as Unknown... I dont understand why. I've renamed it on the iPhone to different things and restarted it but still it comes up as that. I have 2 Nexus 7s and both come up with wierd names, one is for my wife and one is for me and I wish there was a way to name it proper.
Question is: Will the name edit feature ever get added to it? I dont get why it's not there now, it's not really something major (I have a 5 year old router that even has that... and it cant even support N). It's really frustrating to have to guess and check the devices on my network because most of them come up as unknowns.
Right now I'm trying to located another device that's coming up as unknown and now matter how much I try, since the router lacks any feature to assist finding it, it's really frustrating.
something else i noticed: my DHCP List shows all the devices connected with their IP addresses, yet I went into CMD and was doing a random ping command. I'm able to ping 192.168.0.114 with perfect stats back yet on my DHCP List it shows the highest IP is at 192.168.0.112.... Is something wrong here? Is it supposed to not pick up the IPs it gives out? And of course since there isnt a way to tell if that IP is for a WIFI or ethernet device, I have no idea what that device is...
yet i found another ip address on my network by using the ping command. actually I went ahead and did arp -a to find out all the ips with mac addresses. this is a serious flaw with the security of this router!!
after messing with it for a 2 days since I got it I cant seem to get more than 130.0 my last router had 300 same setup same distance

I also need wired in that spot of the house as well. I thought to buy a e1200 to use it as a WAP for that part of the house and also to have a few Ethernet ports come off it. Can I connect to my original E3200 wirelessly from the e1200 and then use the e1200 as a WAP and for Ethernet?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my router from 1.0.03 to 1.0.04, I have a few questions:After installing the firmware, I pressed the reset button at the back for almost 1mn, the power lighted as expected, I then unplug the power cord for 30 sec.The strange thing is that this did not lead to a reset of the configuration, all my settings are still here...!But the actual problem is that my internet speed is divided by two, I still have to confirm this observation on the long term.

I have a desktop and a laptop plus iPads, etc. The laptop loses connectivity every day about the same time. My only solution so far is to reboot the router. I realize that the client lease time is set to 1 day by default but isn't it supposed to ask the modem for another day of life when this happens?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 6 year old wrt54g that is working fine but old. I want to upgrade and will go with the 3200 or 4200. I really don't need the extra features on the 4200 since everything I have is hardwired (directly to two laptops and to two switches in other parts of the house for tv and printer). I want wireless for times when we move a laptop but it wouldn't be all the time, and we won't (for now) use the media options. The difference in price between the 3200 and 4200 is less than $25 so costs is NOT a factor in deciding.So should I just purchase the 4200 since price is not a factor or go with 3200; I want the most stable of the two and will never need the extra wireless features in the 4200.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI used to have a Belkin router which was losing connectivity throughout the day for a few short moments. After looking at the logs it appears it was issueing a DHCP release randomy which explained the fault. Since it was old router I decided to replace it with a E3200. This worked fine for a few days but then I started to see similar symptions. So currently I am trying to figure out if it's the same issue as before. I tried looking for a log on the router to see if it was also losing/releasing the WAN IP, but apparently the router doesn't log it. I spoke to a tech rep on chat, but I don't think they understand what I was talking about (how frustrating). I even tried to explain it another way that if I hit the 'Release IP address' button and then hit the "Renew IP Adresss' button does this activity get logged.
Where can I find a log to see DHCP activity (on the WAN interface)? There is a DHCP log which shows all the LAN activity but this is not what I need for this issue. I find it hard to believe a mature vendor like Linksys doesn't log this activity?
House has 2 floors. I want to install 2 E3200, one on each floor, but both with the same SSID/Password, etc. so internet connection/streaming throughout the floor is seamless.
Both floors have network wall sockets ready and they all lead to the same modem/router so all devices plugged lead to the same network.
PS. both E3200 have been update to Firmware Version: 1.0.03
I have bought Linksys E3200 less than month ago.I have setup it, connected HD (WD My Book 1TB) through USB and it work good, without any problem.Than week ago, I turned off the router, because of my vacation. Yesterday, I came back, turned on the router. WiFi was working good, cable connection too. But there was no connection to HD. I had checked information about HD on admin page, router understood that it is HD, but not provided share access to folder, also, there was no button, to setup it.I disconnected HD, tried to connect it using the Cisco Connect, it provided mistake with USB connection to HD and than with HTTP connection to router. I disconnected HD, tried to connect it manually: connect HD -> go to admin page -> refresh to show HD -> admin page freeze... -> reboot of router manually.
There was a lot of tries to connect HD, but all was failed.I connect HD to computer, it works successfully.I checked connection to router through USB, using my card reader and SD flash card, it works successfully.Information about HW:
1. Linksys E3200, last update of firmware for German (was bought using German Amazon) country. (Cannot check it now, if needed will check)
2. Computer: Windows XP SP3
3. WD My Book 1TB (NTFS)
I updated my E3200 to 1.0.04 to try to resolve a wireless dropping issue. Now the connected USB storage no longer responds correctly (very delayed if connecting at all). When I try to provision new storage via the routers admin page, I do not get the permissions page.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just picked up the E3200 and love it. This morning I hooked up my printer via the USB. Everything went smooth until I tried to print something. I thought nothing was happening, but I let it sit for a while. While I was waiting, I was messing around with my network setting in windows. I realized that my network had been set to 'work' for some reason, so I changed it to 'home'. As soon as I did, my printer spit out my test page. (probably 5 min after sending the doc.) I don't know if it was just coincidence or what, so I sent another page and nothing happened (yet).
Is this common to take that long? Is there a way to speed this up?
We are doing a study on our public WiFi to identfy client connections based on wireless Vendor. about 40-50% of the clients wireless Vendors are "unknown". Is there a way to update the list of Vendor mac-addresses in WCS?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from a Linksys WRT54G to an E3200.I'm thrilled w/ the bells and whistles (e.g. 5 GHz for video to my Boxee and USB connection to my printer for wireless printing), but it seems that on the 2.4 GHz channel, the strength on the E3200 seems to be lower than it was on the WRT54g.I've placed the E3200 exactly where the WRT54G was, and I notice that on all my mobile devices, I either get no signal or a very week signal in my living room. W/ the WRT54G, the signal wasn't 100%, but it was definately better than what it is w/ the E3200.
I have the latest firmware and have adjusted the MTU down to 1400 (I'd left it at 1500 on the WRT54G and it always worked fine). I've also tried to adjust the 2.4 GHz channel to be Wireless-G only network mode and still no luck. I've tried these individually and in combination.
Is the E3200 just broadcasting a weaker signal at 2.4 the my older WRT54G? Should I return it and get another router or is there something I can do to boost the 2.4 signal? Or is there come other configuration I should try to play with?
New E3200 router (a few weeks old).
Using the manual settings under Status/Router and clicking the Disconnect button (by Login Status), the page reloads, and say I am disconnected.
Without any input from me, about 30 seconds later the page reloads and say I am connected.
Clicking disconnect, closing the tab and testing my connection proves that I'm not actually being disconnected at all. I cannot force this router to manually disconnect.
Is this a firmware bug or is there another setting else where that prevents me from manually shutting down my connection?
