My router usb storege was working fine with my old videos and streaming fine too but now im putting some new videos on the usb storage my router its not showing the new videos on the usb storage.
View 2 RepliesI have cable @ 15Mbps down, 2Mbps up. The cable line comes into the crawl space in my daylight basement. I have 3 Cat-5 cables running through the house. 1 to the TV downstairs, and then 1 each to 2 bedrooms on the second floor (one of which is my home office). In the home office, this Cat-5 is connected to a 24-port switch. I plug my printer, NAS, computers, etc into this switch.I have a WRT54G2 v1 that I was using as my Router/AP.I have a 1st & 3rd generation iPad. The iPad 3 plays YouTube videos in HD. About 6 weeks ago I started to get slow YouTube video playback on my iPad's. They would play a few seconds, then pause to buffer, etc. It used to be that videos started playing almost immediately and would never buffer.
Using Wifi Analyzer for Android, I noticed my neighborhood is saturated with 2.4Ghz wifi. So, I figured it must be that the 2.4Ghz band is saturdated and if I moved to a 5Ghz band, the YouTube buffering would be fixed.So, I purchased an E4200 (v1 I think) from Amazon. I bought this Router/AP because it supported the 5Ghz band. It also I connected it to my cable modem and setup everything. Still slow YouTube, and now YouTube videos are slow on my laptop (connected via ethernet). I still get ~15Mbps over ethernet or wifi using the speed test page provided by my ISP, but YouTube videos are VERY slow.
Now that the firmware update allows us to plug a printer into the E4200, is there anyway to simultaneously enjoy network storage AND a USB printer?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect my WD My Book Essential 3TB (which is listed as officially compatible with the E4200), I get the following screen:
The E4200 does not detect my hard drive, nor is there a bar saying "detecting".
My problem started when I could not create any new folders through finder. I had to store new files in the root folder. Every time I entered the admin password, I got a message saying I did not have sufficient permission to perform such a task. I then went on to create a new user within the admin group and continued getting the same message. Finally, I formatted the drive directly through my computer and reconnected. And now my HDD is not detected at all.
I have an iMac running OS X Lion. The HDD is question has been formatted to Mac OS extended (journaled).
I got E4200 with latest firmware (updated two days ago) and WD Studion with 2 Tb drive (it is HFS+ file system)Once I connect this drive to router I am not longer available to access 192.168.1.1.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a newly formatted (i.e. empty) 2TB WD my book elite which when i connect it to my computers usb port, can transfer a 6gb video file at over 100MB/s according to the win 7 detail box. However, when i connect it to the usb port on the back of the e4200 and try to transfer the same file, it only goes at 8MB/s max ... it appears to be going at usb 1 speed. i've got the latest firmware on both the e4200 and the my book 1111 and everything seems to be working fine for both, except this transfer rate when connected to the e4200.granted, cisco doesn't specifically list this drive as being tested, but the router does recognize it and shows it as usb 2.0, but yet the transfer speed is just too slow.8MB/s is just not workable...i could just connect the drive directly to the computer and share it that way, but connecting it to the e4200 was one of the reasons i bought the e4200.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been having issues with my home network since upgrading my router from a WRT54GS to an E4200. Prior to this I had no difficulty in accessing my home group or my home network. I have 2 laptops, both are running Windows 7 Ultimate, one is x64 and one is x32.
Laptop 1 (x-64) can access my home network in all its glory ONLY wirelessly...plug in the Ethernet cable and I can't access laptop 2 or my network storage...Laptop 1 is also unable to join my homegroup even after deleting the old one and creating a new one.
Laptop 2 (x-32) can access my home network in most of its glory ONLY wired...unplug the Ethernet cable and I can't access my network storage and it becomes unavailable to Laptop 1 over the network. Laptop 2 is also not able to connect to Laptop 1 even though Laptop 1 can (sometimes) access files from Laptop 2's shared folders.
Also Laptop 2 cannot see a home group created by Laptop 1, but can create a homegroup that Laptop 1 can see but CAN'T join.I have run all the trouble shooters that the system throws at me to no avail, they all say that I have an unknown network error that it can't fix.I do have internet access on both laptops regardless of wired or wireless, and I spent over 2 hours with Cisco "senior" tech support only to be disconnected and realize that they had no clue about this new router..
This firmware bad, because my sync program, can't set create date of files on external usb storage connected to router, on 1.0.04 - all good.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought an e4200 with firmware version 2.0.36 from Costco.I have set it up manually and have access to the internet for all of my wired and wireless devices.Unfortunately, I cannot access the USB storage via mounting a share, the media server or the FTP server. I have plugged in a USB storage device that is formatted with FAT32. The router detects it and allows me to create new shares in the Storage->Disk menu and Storage->Media Server menu - so I know it can read the device and see the folders. Strangely if I click "Scan All" in the Media Server, it finishes very quickly and never updates the "Last scanning time" field.There was a brief moment when the router showed up in the Network->Computer section of File Explorer, but I can't get it to show here again.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy E4200 storage config (portions of it) does not persist through reboot cycles. We often have to reboot the router because we lose wireless conectivity, and each time we reboot, we lose our mapped drives because the router is no longer sharing the folders and permissions I set up. And in the storage settings, my shared folder setup looks like factory default (sharing only root /) after each reboot. Those settings do not persist. I have to restore my router config from a backup after each reboot, which is a real pain. Especially when the kids reboot the router to get their wireless back, but restore is just too complicated for them, and so they call me when they then can not access their network share folders with homework on them.

When I go to Status -> Local Network -> DHCP Client Table the list is blank but some computers are connected to the networkI'm using firmware 1.0.01 build 10 Feb 21, 2011, language = English, Firefox 4.0.1.Rebooting the router doesn't change anything, I can't see connected LAN equipment and DHCP Reservation is empty despite the fact I've created entries.Together with the "Access Restriction" which doesn't allow to block a computer from 10pm => 8am unless you create 2 rules + various issues with attached USB + 2.4Ghz signal that is far from optimal (never able to achieve more than 144-N-Mbps) and I ask myself if I will not contact the store where I purchased this unit and ask a refund (and buy something else from another brand...)

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an E4200 router. I have four clients on my network and they are all set up for DHCP. I renewed their IPs and they all are connected. "Cisco Connect" reports that I have four clients connected. When I access the router and bring up the DHCP Client Table, there are no entries. There should be four entries. Aftern I enable the logging function, none of the logs have any data in them even after I wait for 45 minutes and use the internet and renew IPs. I am using Firmware Version: 1.0.03. I have the same results for both Chrome and Firefox. I want to be able to set Static IPs but I am hampered by the not having any clients in the DHCP client table.

The laptop connects to it, but it shows me that it does not have internet access.I also have a belkin router that I also use. So, when I have the connectivity issues, I connect to the other router. When I use the Cisco Connect application, it goes on for a couple of minutes and then gives the message "If you are not connected to my router SSID name you can't update your router settings".

Text loads fast, but images take several minutes, and for videos - forget about it, takes at least 15 minutes to load even a 2 minute video. But on one of them which runs Windows 7 and MCAfee Antivirus I cannot watch any videos from Youtube. On the other one which runs Windows XP all videos are running great. I've check the firmware version and it is the last one. I've try to disable the firewall in McAfee and it still does not work.

(always in the wireless mode), my laptop (Sony, Vaio VGN-NW110D) freezes when I stream videos online or when I use skype video calls. It sometimes freezes for a few minutes (in that case it's just really extremely slow and it sounds like a satanic robot), and then comes back (but does it again a few minutes later. Or sometimes, and this is more frequent with skype video calls, it completely freezes, and I have to reboot the hard way...This never happened to me before and I've been watching videos and video skyping for years. I have windows 7, service pack 1 (32 bits) now . I have windows 7 now, since about the same time I bought the router. But what makes me think its related to the router is that when I'm at work, or at my parents, or sisters, or boyfriend's house, this problem does NOT occure.... I don't know if this information could be relevant, but this does not happen when I make videos calls with skype on my iphone.

Type in facebook and you get an invalid URL and would have to reset the router to get it to work. Now I bought a new Cisco router and am regretting it. The n900 was a pretty penny and now ALL my videos are always buffering. I have several computers connected, but not active. The internet is painfully slow with the new router, but lightning fast with out it.
Currently using my laptop secuirty settings are IPv6/ and 4 SPI Firewall Protection: Enabled WPA2/WPA mixed mode.
I have tried everything: Rebooting, up to date firmware, resetting, What should I do next? Disable some of its advanced features? Cisco is earning a bad rap with me if a router that boasts high internet speeds makes all my videos buffer and load painfully slow. Let alone getting through all the commercials on the internet now.
Is it possible to have 2 hard drives connected to a WRT610N perhaps connected through a USB hub?

I am moving abroad for an extended amount of time, though, so I would also like to connect to this USB drive using FTP. Using the new Cisco Connect Cloud interface, I have enabled FTP sharing for the USB storage device with port 21 and using standard UTF-8 encoding. Whenever I try to connect to the FTP server using my router login credentials, I get the following error message:"There was a problem connecting to the server xx.xxx.xxx.xx. This file server will not allow any additional users to log on. Try to connect again later"

I have changed the administrator password from "admin" to a password of my own.I have recently added a USB hard drive to the router, and it says that admin password to access the share drive is the same as the admin password as the router, but it is not. The password to acces the USB drive is "admin" and there is nowhere to change this password to something secure.

if you log on to 99.225.89.229:8080 it will ask you for user id and pass word to log into my router.
if you try to log on to 99.225.89.229:21 it wont even connect asking you for a user id and password.
my guess is the router is not allowing port 21 to be accessed, but I'm not sure.
I have TV set box connected to modem router supplied by ISP provider. To the same router I connected EA 4500 to which I wired connected Network Hard Disc at which I store music, photos and films, which I can not access via TV set box. If I connect Hard Disc direct to the modem router to which set box is connected, access works fine.
Whar shall I do to establish accesability of Network Hard Disc over all network ?
