Just bought a EA4500. When I go on Youtube, no videos are playing. All I see is the loading animation and nothing happen. I have 4 computers, 2 tablets, an iPod, a blackberry. None of them are playing the videos. Before, I had a Dlink router and everthing was good.
View 3 RepliesI stream a lot of 720p HD video over my network (both local storage and Internet streaming). I bought the E2000 about 5-6 months ago after my last router stopped working, and it has been working flawlessly up until now.
So a few days ago, I was streaming a live basketball game, and noticed that all of a sudden, it would no longer stream at 3Mbps HD quality (or even 1.5Mbps or 800Kbps; I had to drop it to the lowest setting of 300Kbps to stream, and even then it was iffy). I thought...well, maybe this service is getting more popular, and they just need to fix their pipe.
Then, last night, I went to watch a locally-stored HD video (720p, around 4-5Mbps), which is something I've done almost everyday for the last six months with this router, and when I went to play it, the movie would play for maybe 4-6 minutes without any trouble, and then suddenly, it would just start stuttering (i.e. play 5-10 frames, freeze for 1/4 second, play, freeze, and repeat for the next 20-30 seconds of the movie). It would then play fine again for 5-10 minutes, and then suddenly do the same. It would repeat this process throughout the entire course of the movie.
Now, keep in mind, I've made NO changes to my setup, networking, Internet connection, or file server. I decided to bring up a network monitor to look at the connection while a video was playing, and this is the result: url...You can see the normal spikes of data transmission on the left and right of the graph, but then the connection just drops off in the middle. That exactly corresponds to where the video begins to get choppy. Then, when it starts to spike again, the movie beings playing smoothly.
- I was running in mixed G/N mode, so I tried switching to N-only (only one of my computers has an N adapter, so this would not be ideal for the moment). No luck, still choppy.
- Tried restarting every single computer, including file server. Still choppy.
- Tried making sure the router wasn't overheating. We live in a cold region, I stuck it against a window that was 30 degrees F in temperature. Still choppy.
- I tried changing some of the packet size/frequency settings in the "Advanced" section of wireless setup, messed with the frequency, changed the channels, etc. Still choppy.
- I checked to make sure I have the latest firmware for the router, I do.
- Played with relocating all of my antennas and such, even putting them in unsightly places to make sure I'd get a strong signal. Still choppy.
I can't really think of anything else to try, and it's just so odd that this has worked without any trouble for months now. It has to be the wireless function on the router, because when I try streaming it with a wired connection, it works just fine. The ONLY difference I noticed (and I don't know when this happened) is that one of my neighbors set up an N-router, which hasn't been there before. They moved in maybe 1-2 months ago, so I'm guessing that the router has been around for that long, or slightly less...which perhaps could coincide with my timeline for this not working anymore. Could that be a possible issue, and if so...way around it (again, note I've already tried changing channels, etc. I can't run on 5.0GHz frequency because my adapter doesn't support it).
my ea3500 has problems with youtube videos. When i click to start a video, sometimes it starts but after a very long buffering time (more than 8-10 seconds), sometimes it does-not at all some other time, the advertisement play but nothing happens after that (black screen). I have a fast internet access (30 MB up, 2 Mb down). I do not have this problem with the old router that the ea3500 is replacing ( a netgear wndr3700). On this old router al the videos are starting almost instantly.
I tried to lower the MTU of the 3500 from the default 1500 to 1400. No improvement. I tried to disable the WMM feature in QOS and by doing so i create another problem : i cannot access the 5 Ghz band anymore. I can see the SSID but cannot connect to it.
I am facing issues with my router EA4500 and my apple TV. When I am watching a video from my itunes library at my PC, sometimes stop playing waiting to receive data. Is that a way to conect my apple tv to my router to prioritize this video streaming from my PC to apple TV?

I have a three 48ports switches on my network, and I've noticed that when I use Desktop smartport profile for my workstations I'm not able to upload file to the youtube. I can upload it as soon as I change smartport to Switch profile. FYI, all three switches have 2.1.19 firmware

Works fine otherwise. The IPhone played back video properly on an ATT router. I know how to get to router setup pages but am not very competent in understanding it all.

- Test it in Firefox. Same result. So bad.

Just about 2 weeks ago, I keep getting disconnected from games that I play. It will boot me off of the game but I will still have internet access. I've tried upgrading the firmware, had linksys techs resetting the router, gotten a new modem from my ISP. Hardwired the PC that I normally use.The router that I have is a WRT120N, each and everytime a linksys tech reset it's basically the same thing with the same disconnecting problem afterwards. I'm thinking it's usually when another phone device tries to connect to the wifi that it boots me off. I have 2 pc's, one laptop and my iphone that connects fine w/o any problems but when another android or iphone connects it causes me to disconnect.

I can do almost things on my iPhone, but when I tried streaming video or streaming music from apps on the phone it stared buffering.... play..... and.... stop.... almost every 30s which never happen with my old Linksys E1000. And It happen with my wife's phone too. Even my internet speed is not bad at all (Ping: 24 / Download 23Mbs / Upload 4Mbs). So I can guess that problem from the router. Then I swap the E4200v2 with the E1000, everything works fine (it just a litle bit slower when loading at begin).

But on one of them which runs Windows 7 and MCAfee Antivirus I cannot watch any videos from Youtube. On the other one which runs Windows XP all videos are running great. I've check the firmware version and it is the last one. I've try to disable the firewall in McAfee and it still does not work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new E4200 with the latest firmware and my slingbox seems to not be playing nice with the router. It refuses to take the IP I reserved for the SB, but always defaults to 192.168.2.254. I use a 2 subnet just in case you're wondering. I have tried multiple reboots and the IP does not change. I have tried turning off UPNP, figuring that was hijacking the dhcp server, but that hasn't changed anything. I also notice that a few of my connected devices do not show up in the dhcp list, yet they connect and work ok.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a WRK54G v2 connected to a Ubee cable modem, and when my computer, connected with wifi or ethernet, tries to play a Youtube video, the actual webpage loads fine but the spinning dots in the player remain for several minutes before the video starts to load. If the video has to buffer again in the middle of playback, it also takes several minutes to start again. When the computer is connected directly to the cable modem, everything works fine. Youtube is the only site I am having an issue with, other video streaming sites like Vimeo work fine.

I have 3 Cat-5 cables running through the house. 1 to the TV downstairs, and then 1 each to 2 bedrooms on the second floor (one of which is my home office). In the home office, this Cat-5 is connected to a 24-port switch. I plug my printer, NAS, computers, etc into this switch.I have a WRT54G2 v1 that I was using as my Router/AP.I have a 1st & 3rd generation iPad. The iPad 3 plays YouTube videos in HD. About 6 weeks ago I started to get slow YouTube video playback on my iPad's. They would play a few seconds, then pause to buffer, etc. It used to be that videos started playing almost immediately and would never buffer.
Using Wifi Analyzer for Android, I noticed my neighborhood is saturated with 2.4Ghz wifi. So, I figured it must be that the 2.4Ghz band is saturdated and if I moved to a 5Ghz band, the YouTube buffering would be fixed.So, I purchased an E4200 (v1 I think) from Amazon. I bought this Router/AP because it supported the 5Ghz band. It also I connected it to my cable modem and setup everything. Still slow YouTube, and now YouTube videos are slow on my laptop (connected via ethernet). I still get ~15Mbps over ethernet or wifi using the speed test page provided by my ISP, but YouTube videos are VERY slow.
I consider myself very technical and with pretty good knowledge of networking and routers, but I was baffled today.I was doing some testing and had a Firefox browser open with Pandora playing some music. I decided to reboot my router and much to my amazement, after pulling the power plug on the router, Pandora kept playing music as if nothing happened! It went on to play the entire 6 minute song then stopped when it attempted to go to the next song in the play list.
I must admit I don't understand this. Even if it has something to do with a networking protocol I don't understand, the router is still needed for the physical (Ethernet wire) connections from my PC to the router and then ultimately through the cable modem to the internet. Of course, I did NOT turn off the cable modem--just the router.I doubt it matters but the modem is a Zoom 5341 Cable Modem, the router a Linksys WRT160N V3 Wireless Router (stock firmware) running WinXP Pro SP3 and as I mentioned, the PC is connected via cable to the router.

Since then streaming video has seemed choppy and thebuffer keeps needing to reload, even Netflix. Could there be anything in the update that would have changed things? The video played with no issues before. Another question, if a computer is using a direct, wired connection to the router, is that a straight connection from the modem or is the signal still sent through the modem hardware/software?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded from an E1000 to the E3000 and have run into a couple of problems with my iphone 4s.There are a few applications, BBC iplayer, Sky Go, BBC News and ITV player that wont allow me to watch any of the online video through the iphone. I have iplayer on two other computers running through the same router and they work fine.Every thing worked fine with my old E1000 so I'm taking it that it must be a setting in the router itself somewhere that needs to be altered to allow it to work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been viewing some videos streamed through the EA6500 from a Qnap 419p II NAS, and several video files are playing back extremely choppy.I can confirm that the video files play fine on the Xbox360 using a USB key and have also previously streamed these videos without any problems using a Belkin Wireless Pre-N router (that I upgraded from) streamed from the same NAS.I've attempted to configure the Media Prioritization feature, but haven't noticed any different results. I have also adjusted other various settings that haven't affected the playback in any way.
My only guess is that some of the files are encoded in a format that the router is struggling with - the video files are not HD videos, and their bitrates are generally quite low - if my old Belkin router can do it, the EA6500 shouldn't have any problems either.
So I am trying to forward a port on my linksys E2500 router. I need to forward 198.162.17.3 for a video streaming server. When I go to the admin panel I am only able to change the last digit, ie 198.162.1.x

Eventually the line gets across and the video begins again to stream. When I do a speed test I get around 10 Mbps both through the router wireless and hardwired connections. This happens almost every 10 minutes. I have tried rebooting the router and the problem persists

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently replaced my Linksys WRV54G with a Linksys e2000 where I stream H.264 vido in 480p from one computer connected over gigabit to my Media Center running on Windows 7 64 bit connected at 10/100.
Before the router change, I was able to playback video over the network with no problems. If I connect the Linksys WRV54G again, the issue goes away. The Linksys WRV54G does not have gigabit and I have read related issues of video stuttering over gigabit.
I've looked all over the internet for this and can't find a definate answer. Waited for live chat and got kicked before I got to talk to someone... Just sold my computer and the plan was to buy a newer mac but we've been getting along fine without a computer with just using our iphones. So my question, I see that Cisco has the Connect Express app for the iphone, and I've read about all the features it has like changing settings, router features, etc. But I can't find anything on using the app for the initial set up of the router. I'm currently on an older linksys router (set up before we sold the computer) but it's time for a needed upgrade.

WMP doesnt let me browse the folders as they actually are on the HDD which is such a pain in the **bleep**.
shows a device in "network infrastructure" but it says problem sending command to the program when i click that. i dont want to have to view the HDD in WMP as a media device...
My new EA4500 (fw ver 2.0.36) won't obtain an IP from a Brighthouse TM502G cable modem. The EA4500 replaced a functioning WRT54G which would obtain an IP from the ISP. I've tried upgrading firmware and have used both straight-through and crossover cables between the EA4500 & TM502G to no avail. The EA4500 would issue IPs to it's clients, but not obtain one from it's TM502G. At the moment, all 3 are daisy-chained together with the old WRT54G in the middle in order to make the EA4500 work. Both WiFi and LAN ports function in this configuration.

However on the 5 Ghz tab, nothing? I can see Channels 36, 40, 44, 48, 52 and so on BUT no trace of any wireless signal here?I carefully reviewed the wireless settings options and it is indeed enabled.
