Linksys Wireless Router :: Outlook 2007 Very Slow To Receive Gmail On E4200

Jul 16, 2012

Outlook 2007 worked fine with my old router and when our laptops are connected on other networks.  But both home laptops take about a minute to go through the "receiving mail" process with GMAIL pop3 accounts when connecting through the new E4200.  Everything is factory default, and I reinstalled Outlook.  This problem does not occur with the roadrunner email accounts also set up in Outlook

We have a ASA 5510 which was running 8.0.2, we recently upgraded it to 8.2.5 and since the upgrade remote users for exchange 2007 are not able to download any large email attachments(over or close to 1MB). This is only happening to Outlook anywhere users or OWA users who are connecting to the exchange server using https(443) externally. If the same users connects internally they do not face any issue. When i check the logs on ASA i am gettings lots of RESET-O and RESET-I entries. Looks like the connection between the client and the server gets reset.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Slow WAN Speed?

Dec 6, 2011

I have a problem with new E4200 WAN speed. I have 1Gb connection from my ISP, and my old Netgear router gives me about 350 Mbps WAN speed, but with new E4200 I only got 110 Mbps max download speed.Cisco live support tried suggested to change MTU from Auto to 1400 (and try different wlan channels, even that I don't use wlan). This MTU size change makes no difference with WAN speed. I have latest firmaware installed, router reseted several times,  tried different cables etc. Also with same cable sets my old Netgear still gives about 3 times better WAN speed.WAN port (and all LAN ports) seems to negotiated at 1000 Mbps at both ONT (optical network terminal) and Linksys settings page, but unfortanately there is no way to change the setting from auto to manual at E4200 settings (and it is not possible to change any settings of ONT by user). I was thinking that if somehow it won't auto negotiate properly (even if the setting page says its ok) but maybe it actually negotiated 100 Mbps port to WAN.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Cisco E4200 Very Slow USB Speed

I have brand new Cisco E4200 and WD Passport 500Gb.When it connected to router wireless (802.11n 300Mbit/sec) file transfer speed is around terrible 3 MB/sec. Same hard drive directly connected to my Mac Book Pro Unibody produce 30MB/sec. However my internet connection thru the router fairly shows 12MB/sec.It sounds funny, but for me is 4 times faster to download file from the Web rather the from hard dive that I'm holding in my hand.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Gigabit Ethernet Very Slow?

Jul 18, 2011

I recently bought the E4200 thinking it would be the latest and greatest, and  I wouldnt' have to worry, but after just a simple test of transferring files between my Home Server, and my PC (Both connected over Gigabit ethernet using CAT6 cables, with only the E4200 inbetween).I use to get anywhere from 40 MegaBytes/second to 50MegaBytes/second on my D-Link 655.But now I am lucky to barely get 20 MegaBytes/second.  Is there an issue with this router?  or am I expecting too much from Linksys?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Incredibly Slow Transfer Speeds?

Oct 18, 2011

Using 1.0.03.

I am seeing something pretty bizarre: when trying to copy files between two computers (both Windows 7 SP1 64bit), both physically plugged into the back of the E4200, I see extremely slow transfer speeds: 1.0-1.1 MB/sec.  Both computers are fast (i7-2600K, both using SSDs) and both have gigabit ports (and the 4200's web UI shows both ports in question as operating in gigabit mode).

This is so slow as to be sort of funny.  Each of these computers see speeds well in excess of that when transferring between the computer and outside internet sites...so it's kind of funny that two computers plugged into the same switch in the back of the 4200 see 1 MB/second.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Extremely Slow Download Speeds

Jun 5, 2011

All I want is functional Wi-Fi in my house like the rest of the world. Unfortunately, I cannot have that for whatever reason.

Now that I said that, Let's me get down to explaining my issue. I orginally owned a Linksys WRT350n. This router worked fine for years, untill one day I decided to do a speed test on my new Motrola Atrix. My Wired computer gets ~22000kbps down and 4000kbps up... My wireless speedtest on my Atrix yielded 2000kbps down and 4000kbps up. I assumed it was the phone, so i went and tried every other wireless device in my house. Everyone of them got the same result.. 2000kbps down.. 4000kbps up.

At this point I went into my router settings and tried every available channel, all of them yielded the same result of 2000kbps down and 4000kbps up.. At this point, I assumed it was the router. Ive had it for a few years and figured it was just reaching EOL. I rushed to my nearest bestbuy to pick up a brand new Linksys E4200. I brought it home, hooked it up and was eager to test my new wireless speeds. Unfortunately the same results of 2000kbps down and 4000kbps up was the yield. Once again, I've tried every possible channel with no change to my speeds. At this point I called up Linksys/Cisco support.. They were POSITIVE it was a hardware issue and had me exchange the router, even though I informed them i had the same issue with my older router of a different model. I went along with it anyway, and exchanged my router. Same issue. I called Cisco/Linksys back up and informed them, and basically they told me "they'd make a note of the issue and call me back at a later date."

I downloaded a WiFi Analyzer on my cell phone. Theres only two other dectable networks in my area, and they are low low low signal. So, I don't believe it's heavy saturation. The router is in the same room as 3 of the wireless devices that get 2000kbps down/4000kbps up. So it's not range either.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Slow Transfers E4200 / Intel 4965AGN

Feb 17, 2012

Recently purchased a Linksys E4200.Computers on network:Two hard-wired gigabit desktops: one Windows XP, one Windows 7One hard-wired 100mbps desktop running Windows 7One laptop with an Intel 4965AGN running Windows 7.File transfer rates between any of the desktops and the laptop is very slow: ~2 megabytes/s

File transfer rates between the gigabit desktops is good (~50 megabytes/s, hdd bottleneck), transfers between the 100mbps desktop and one of the gigabit machines gives ~10 megabytes/s.Currently running on the 5Ghz band, connected with N at 300 megabits, good signal strength. Disabled mixed mode on this band, enabled N-only.Use a scanner tool, I can tell that there are no other networks on 5Ghz band. Also, tried 2.4 Ghz band and got similiar low speeds. These transfer rates are much below what other people report for real-world throughput. Any ideas? I know there is an Advanced Wireless config page, is there a setting there that might work if adjusted?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 1.0.03 Slow Usb Storage Transfer Speed?

Nov 20, 2011

i have a newly formatted (i.e. empty) 2TB WD my book elite which when i connect it to my computers usb port, can transfer a 6gb video file at over 100MB/s according to the win 7 detail box. However, when i connect it to the usb port on the back of the e4200 and try to transfer the same file, it only goes at 8MB/s max ... it appears to be going at usb 1 speed.  i've got the latest firmware on both the e4200 and the my book 1111 and everything seems to be working fine for both, except this transfer rate when connected to the e4200.granted, cisco doesn't specifically list this drive as being tested, but the router does recognize it and shows it as usb 2.0, but yet the transfer speed is just too slow.8MB/s is just not workable...i could just connect the drive directly to the computer and share it that way, but connecting it to the e4200 was one of the reasons i bought the e4200.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Is Slow Viewing HD YouTube Videos

Sep 8, 2012

I have cable @ 15Mbps down, 2Mbps up. The cable line comes into the crawl space in my daylight basement. I have 3 Cat-5 cables running through the house. 1 to the TV downstairs, and then 1 each to 2 bedrooms on the second floor (one of which is my home office). In the home office, this Cat-5 is connected to a 24-port switch. I plug my printer, NAS, computers, etc into this switch.I have a WRT54G2 v1 that I was using as my Router/AP.I have a 1st & 3rd generation iPad. The iPad 3 plays YouTube videos in HD. About 6 weeks ago I started to get slow YouTube video playback on my iPad's. They would play a few seconds, then pause to buffer, etc. It used to be that videos started playing almost immediately and would never buffer.

Using Wifi Analyzer for Android, I noticed my neighborhood is saturated with 2.4Ghz wifi. So, I figured it must be that the 2.4Ghz band is saturdated and if I moved to a 5Ghz band, the YouTube buffering would be fixed. So, I purchased an E4200 (v1 I think) from Amazon. I bought this Router/AP because it supported the 5Ghz band. It also I connected it to my cable modem and setup everything. Still slow YouTube, and now YouTube videos are slow on my laptop (connected via ethernet). I still get ~15Mbps over ethernet or wifi using the speed test page provided by my ISP, but YouTube videos are VERY slow.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 1.0.03 - Web Interface Over Https Is Super Slow

Oct 22, 2011

Just upgraded my E4200 to firmware 1.0.03 (from 1.0.01). I have some new issues, questions, and some outstanding issues.

1) Web interface over https is now painfully slow.
2) Does DDNS work in bridge mode? DynDNS allows the sending of an update without an IP address, so it should be able to work.
3) Does accessing the management interface in bridge mode count as local or remote?
4) I'd really like to be able to get WOL working through the router. I managed to create a static DHCP reservation for 192.168.1.254 to ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff, but I don't think the router added that entry to the ARP table, is there any way to do this.

(I think have WOL forwarded to 192.168.1.254). 5) Should the router be providing some local dns hostnames? For example I have the device name set up in the local network setup, but it won't resolve. Similar for connected devices, especially those with with a DHCP reservation. 6) In bridge mode, does it matter which port is used to connect to the other network device? Does it have to be the WAN port?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Slow Download Speed When Hardwired To E4200?

Apr 14, 2012

Im trying to optimize my E4200 settings and Ive noted that ping and download speeds are extremely slow for the internet service I signed up for. Ping speeds are consistently more than 1000ms and dowload speeds typically are less than 3Mbps. These are for both wireless and wired connections to the E4200 router.

When I disconnect the router and hardwire my laptop directly to the the modem, ping speeds are less than 100ms and download speeds are 20Mbps.

Simply put, webpage loading is at a snails pace with wireless and wired connection the router, but blazing fast when hardwired directly to the modem.

On a seperate issue, the iMac I have is also **bleep** slow even when hardwired directly to the modem. Is there an obvious router setting Im screwing up?  Router is updated with the latest software.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Wifi Network - Slow File Transfer Speed

Mar 24, 2012

I have recently purchased a Cisco E4200 to replace my D-LINK DIR-655, which I thought was defective because I was getting slow wirless file transfer speed, regardless of setting, location and client.Using the E4200, when I transfer a file from a PC to another, both connected at 300mb on the 2.4ghz band, the file transfer rate reported by windows 7 and networx is from 2MB/s to 3.5MB/s.  I think those transfer rates are not acceptable.  Is that a good assumption ? I would expect something in the range of 10MB/s (which is what I get with a cheap dlink router, wired)

I also had great difficulty finding a channel.  I had to try them all one-by-one as the auto channel selection made my PCs connect at 130mb.The E4200 is setup as follows:

-WPA-Personal
-Channel 5
-802.11n only

I have tried 3 different computers with different network adapters and they all underperform (IMO..).There are no other wireless networks in my area.I also took the E4200 to my office which is very crowed.  Every single channel is occupied by several wireless networks.  I get a file transfer speed PC to PC of about 2MB.I basically could have kept my DIR-655 as the speeds are identical.
