Linksys Wireless Router :: Reinstall Easy-Link Adviser For WRT54G
Aug 28, 2011
After clearing my hard drive, I needed to reinstall EasyLink Advisor for my WRT54G wireless router. The first part of the reinstallation is successful, I get to the screen that says Welcome to EasyLink Advisor. I press the Setup button, then the computer searches for several minutes. After the system comes right back to the same starting screen, not completing the setup nor giving an error message from it.
I upgraded my router Linksys wrt54g to Linksys x2000. I was able to install the equipment with no problem, my problem is with the Linksys Advisor. When I open the adviser it goes to setup wizard, I get a screen that tells me to disconnect my old router which I have done. The next screen gives a list of routers to select from my router x2000 is not on the list. How can I get passed this screen? So I can use the adviser to set up other computers and printer.
Our office has 2 connections to the internet. Each connection comes into our building through a Linksys WRT54G router. I like to connect the routers together through their ethernet ports so that we can share resources such as printers and etc. Should I config each router such that they are actually on the same network? For example:Router 1:Router IP 192.168.1.1DHCP serves 192.168.1.100-150Router 2:Router IP 192.168.1.2DHCP serves 192.168.151-200
I have a Linksys WRT54g router that works fine, but the signal is not very good on some points of the house. So I bought a TP-Link 740n to use as a second router. My idea is to connect both routers with a 10 meters lan cable that I have, to make the signal better on points that are distant from the main router (Linksys) or separated by walls. When job is done, will I see two different networks (one for each router) on my laptop or only the "original" signal (WRT54g)?
Trying to setup a wrt54g wireless router using the secure easy setup but am receiving the error message :"Secure Easy Setup requires that the Wi-Fi system application be installed a current version.
Running Win7. When trying to connect Lenovo laptop to E2000 with Easy Setup Key, the progress bar hangs at 25%. However, the E2000 will connect to the laptop with an Ethernet cable. Same problem on both of my Lenovo G555 laptops.
Due to problems with my wifi connection, I had to reset my router and modem. I have to reinstall my settings now, and therefore I need to write down a security number. That should be written on the back of my router (model WRT300N), a barcode with 8 numbers. I can't find that code. Where can I find it or is there another way to reinstall my connection and put a password on it? It's open access now.
I upgraded my firmware back to 2.0.37 (after Cisco tried to push that cloud nonsense down my throat) and would like to re-install Cisco Connect. Has anyone successfully reinstalled the Cisco Connect software after those fine folks at Cisco took control of your router and your computer and removed it for you? This is my last Cisco/Linksys product ever. I purchased my EA4500 a week ago and then they pull this crap
I have WRT120N, i recently updated the firmware. 1.0.06. only my bad is i done it wireless. so its basically interrupted.I have tried, hard reset and power cycle and reinstall the firmware but still the problem occurs, this time its wired.it happens intermittently. i have tried pressing reset upon turn on and reinstall firmware on the bootloader. it stablized for a while but then disconnects and blinking stikes again.

I recently bought Tp-Link wr740N model but when i run Easy setup assistant on my Windows 8 64bit, A Welcome page appears. When i click START button , a windows error comes out saying. TP-LINK Easy Setup Assistant has stopped working with following error
I had to do a total recovery on my Toshiba laptop after getting a bad virus. Now I can't get my router to recognize itHow can I reinstall it? I've worked on this computer for several days trying to get rid of the virus (windows recovery) and it was so bad that's when I decided to just do a recovery on it, and I am worn out and would love to be able to just get this last thing fixed
We have a linksys WAG54GS router the secure easy setup button of which was pressed instead of the on off switch when a reset was required. Now we can only browse the internet via a cable from the pc lan port to the router ethernet port. Things done :- Secure easy setup button held down for 10 seconds. Router went to an unsecured one now back to secure.
Now unable to connect laptop wirelessly. The laptop can see the connection, but when I click it to connect it just doesn't. Have tried rebooting both laptop, desktop and modem, left it overnight, can't connect smartphone to it either. All were working perfectly until I had to reinstall.
Just moved out for the first time, I have a modem but it came with a very short cable. That doesn't work. So I wanna know a couple things:
- What's the best to by, and what's safer: cable or wireless router? - Is it easy to set up a wireless router with my original modem? I have a MacBook Pro early 2012 version. - What type of router would you recommend for me? I live in a one room apartment, I'm the only one who will be using it, use internet for work, social networks, email, school, youtube...not big stuff.
I tried to upgrade to 2.05NA several times and there always ends up being an issue that support is too sad to give the correct answer to and just puts a consumer thru "jumping thru hoops" and getting nowhere.2.05NA (actually started with 2.03NA) first caused a problem with limiting my upload speed to 1024mb. I happened across the fix on another forum and tried it and it worked. It was the default QoS setting D-Link changed after version 2.02NA and refuses to release a new firmware to fix this for everyone. Why they don't release a new FW that fixes the issue but keeps things promised on the package working is beyond me. Now, I purchased a D-Link DNS-323 and I finally got drives to fill it some time back. If 2.05NA is loaded, the Easy Search Utility will not connect to the NAS. I have tried the version the NAS came with AND the latest version offered. It will see the NAS upon 1st launch of the latest Easy Search Utility, but it will not connect and then it disappears if you relaunch the utility and won't return until a reboot. Bottom Line: it will not connect with 2.05NA loaded. It works fine with 2.02NA.
What is the setting that D-Link has screwed over here also that is causing this problem? It is pretty sad that their own hardware items won't play well together unless you run old FW. What setting D-Link changed that is making the D-Link DIR-825 not connect to the D-Link DNS-323 NAS when the DIR-825 has 2.05NA loaded. I have a DIR-825 Rev. B1 and a DNS-323 NAS with its latest firmware. I am using 2.02NA on the router since that is the only one that works and is the latest stable release(other than the DHCP reserve issue), no matter what D-Link wants to try to make people think. I won't try their support since they NEVER did give me the fix for the QoS upload issue and when I asked them to put it as a sticky in this forum when I found the answer somewhere else....well, there is no sticky as we all know. I would like to be able to have the DHCP Reserve issue working too, but I would like to connect to my NAS more at this point.
We've been using a 2Wire from our ISP to connect to the internet, and a Dlink DIR 655 for our wireless network. (Since the 655 has "N" speed, we can transfer large files between computers much faster than with the 2Wire.) The setup has worked fine for a few years, but recently both devices were slow. After turning them off and on a few times, unplugging, etc., without much effect, I reset both units. They're working now, but I've lost our network name and password; our Macs (and iPhone & iPad) are now using the default unlocked Dlink network. I tried to input the Dlink's default IP address, 192.168.0.1, but the address never connects. Any suggestions on how I can access our DIR 655's IP address, so I can reinstall a password and network name? If our tech guy (now unavailable) changed the Dlink's default IP address years ago, wouldn't it it have reverted to the 192.168.0.1 when I reset?
My AE1000 has worked for about 2 weeks, but just stopped working. Have tried to reinstall but it won't recognize the adapter. I can't click the "next" button to continue the installation. I have chagned the USB ports and restarted the computer. But it still wont install. I have Windows Vista. I also have Norton, do I need to uninstall this?
I installed 930L with mydilnk few days ago.....setup up mydlink etc....then some how accidentally uninstalled my dlink...later wanted to reinstall and just couldn't.
We are trying to change our already wireless router to a new wireless router. Changing from a lynksis wrt54g to a d-link DIR-815.We tried using the quick router setup wizard they provided but it wasn`t able to connect to the internet to continue, then we tried manual setup (going on the web-based connection thing) since the wizard stopped working and we tried a manual setup.
I bought a 3548XL switch off ebay for real cheap. I am configuring it right now for home use, mainly to play with.
It has IOS 12.0 and doesn't support even some basic commands, like int ranges or even the do command in global config mode. And it doesn't seem to support VLANs either.I have looked through Cisco's site and couldn't find what I was looking for. I dont know if my switch supports the newest IOS, or which version IOS that it does support. The switch isn't listed in the IOS software advisor.
I'm looking to upgrade my WRT54G as I have had NO luck in getting my Galaxy Tab to connect through it so far (can connect and get an IP address but can't get out to the web) and have had intermittent problems with my Blu-ray lately. I am looking for something with the best affordable range, live 3 floors down from the current one and get about 3/4 signal strength so there's not much interference it seems. I watch a lot of online content through Hulu, Netflix, and LMB games and share with 2 other people.I am looking at the E series, probably the E1200, 1500 or 1550 as they seem to meet my needs. Any users have any advice about the ease of install and use of either of these? Or would it be better to get a gateway as we are considering going from DSL to U-verse service, twice the speed for $2/month more
I was browsing the Software Adviser on Cisco's website to look for a suitable IOS image, for a 3750. The system displayed a couple of suggested IOSes. there was no mention of IOS 15.0SE version.Could the Software Advisor be not up to date with the current Catalyst IOS releases?
i got this wireless router (linksys version WRT54G) from my aunt but she can't find the disc for it. is there a way to use it without buying anything (this is mainly for my wii), if so how?
I have an old wireless router lying behind me and I want to use that old router as a switch. That old router is a knock-off,no-name router brand called "Gigafast" and the model number is WF19-CAPR. There are also variants to that router name as well. The router that I currently have is a Linksys WRT54G wireless-G router. I'm planning to upgrade the wireless router in favor of Wireless-N in the near future.I want to know how can I use that particular Gigafast router as a switch and I want to link that router up to my WRT54G router. The scenario goes as follows:
Cable internet connection ----> WRT54G router ---> Gigafast router (as a switch)
The IP address for the WRT54G router is 192.168.1.1, while the Gigafast router is 192.168.1.254. I may know by now that I have to disable DHCP on the gigafast router and I have to change an IP address to something that is "not in range" with the WRT54G router, am I right?I want to expand the number of ports, so I can connect with future devices such as a VoIP ATA adapter, a laptop and possibly an entertainment box (i.e. Apple TV or Boxee box)
have one router WRT54G with firmware version v2.02.7, Feb. 27, 2004, and I'm trying to use this router to get my PS3 connected to the internet, but in the PS3 appears that I'm using NAT Type 3 and to enable some online features in my PS3 I must change it to NAT Type 2 (from the router configuration), I tried everything that I found (put my PS3 in DMZ zone, enabling TCP/UDP ports, enabling/disabling UPnP, disabling Media Server Connections in my PS3, etc.) and nothing works,
I have a WRT54G wireless router that I haven't used in years because my old cable provider supplied me with a router. I recently switched cable providers & they don't provide a wireless routers. I would like to use my WRT54G router, but I don't have the cd. I figured it wasn't a problem because I can just do a manual setup using the ip address 192.168.1.1. I receive the pop up window to enter the user name & password. I follow the instructions & just type in the password field the word admin & l left the user name blank but it doesn't work.
I have a few devices at my home that connect wirelessly to the internet via wrt54g. I want to connect to the internet via VPN. I would like to find out if it is possible to connect WRT54G router to the VPN via PPTP or L2TP? The VPN company provided me with PPTP and L2TP credentials. I can access vpn via OpenVPN on computers but I would like my TV connect to the internet also via VPN.
PC is running Windows/XP sp3 with all updates installed. It has no wireless adapter.WRT54G model number sticker shows ver.2. I don't think the firmware has ever been upgraded. This used to work. What has changed? The laptop that used to connect wireless is dead. I now have a 2nd PC that sits on the same table as the old PC. It has no wireless adapter at this point, but eventually either it, or the old computer, will be getting its internet connection wireless-ly, as the computers will be physically in separate rooms. I can't see how these changes would affect the operation of the router.
I have a WRT54G router that's worked for a very long time. I had WEP security set up and it worked fine until recently. About a week ago my three year old son managed to reset the router (I'm still not sure how). When I go onto the web-based setup page I am unable to change the wireless security setting. I select an option from the drop down menu but then the page reloads and nothing has changed.
WRT54G v6 router suddenly cuts out several times each day, using it with wired connection on two computers. No problem when direct wired to the modem. Is this router failing? How to fix it?
A few days ago I lost connection to the internet. The Status on the 54g does not show an IP address from the WAN(cable modem)If I connect the cable modem directly to the computer(wired) I can get online no problems. I can also access the 54g through 192.168.1.1. (wired)But if I connect the Cable modem to the 54g....no Internet This was my bootup.
1. Unplugged both cable and router.
2. Plug in cable wait for solid lights
3. plug in router wait for lights
4. plug in computer...connection established to router.... No Internet
