We are trying to change our already wireless router to a new wireless router. Changing from a lynksis wrt54g to a d-link DIR-815.We tried using the quick router setup wizard they provided but it wasn`t able to connect to the internet to continue, then we tried manual setup (going on the web-based connection thing) since the wizard stopped working and we tried a manual setup.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMuch of the time my wireless printer is offline relative to computers on my LAN because the IP Address has been changed to some value different than what the computer thinks it should be. So I have to figure out what the IP Address is of the printer then modify the printer port on the PC to point to the correct address. If this only happened rarely or if I could easily remember the steps I have to take to remedy the situation, I guess this would not be such a big deal. But it happens a lot and I'm old and alzheimery. So my question is: how do I get the router to assign the same IP Address to the printer all of the time?

However, when I tried to change the SSID to a unique name, I was unable to connect my computer to the wireless network. I then reset my security settings and left the SSID to the default name "linksys_SES_54125" and it is working just fine. I tried to connect with two separate computers both running Windows 7. Our office has 2 connections to the internet. Each connection comes into our building through a Linksys WRT54G router. I like to connect the routers together through their ethernet ports so that we can share resources such as printers and etc. Should I config each router such that they are actually on the same network? My idea is to connect both routers with a 10 meters lan cable that I have, to make the signal better on points that are distant from the main router (Linksys) or separated by walls. When job is done, will I see two different networks (one for each router) on my laptop or only the "original" signal (WRT54g)?

The first part of the reinstallation is successful, I get to the screen that says Welcome to EasyLink Advisor. I press the Setup button, then the computer searches for several minutes. At first my computers would all connect to the router but there was no internet connection. I had to download the latest firmware and install it. After the install succeeded, everything seemed to be okay. However, I now occasionally get the message that the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. Also, the little world symbol on the router constantly flashes at a rapid rate. Before the switch, neither of these two things happened. When I check the download speed it seems fine. The cable modem is an Arris and also handles my telephone service.

Our wireless devices will see the connection but we are unable to connect.We only have one device that uses the 5.0 and multiple devices that use the 2.4 and none of them can connect.I am currently running firmware 2.02. I also notice that the time changes and I have to reset the time/date.I have tried rebooting the device, resetting the router, changing the network key, updated the time/date, renewed the DHCP...I don't know why it keeps going down, why the time/date keeps changing, and why I cannot get the 2.4 working.

go to SETUP -> "NETWORK SETTINGS"
change "Router IP Address" to 192.168.73.1
change "DHCP IP Address Range" to: 192.168.73.10 : 192.168.73.200
Save Changes Wait for reboot. change my client system's local IP address... so that I can reconnect. direct web browser to http://192.168.73.1/
seen: login page has a select-box for a userid, but no text inside. there is no prompt to ask me to login. I press enter (or whatever... I login). every form interface on all web pages looked at have no labels on text boxes.
I did a view source... and used web-dev tools to look at the page. it looks like the apparent js function, show_words(), is not defined.
change ip address and dhcp address range back to default save changes. wait for reboot. reverse changes to local system things are back to normal. login page has useful text. after logging in, there is something to read.
looking at source again. I see, now, that the js function "show_words" is defined in a file called public.js.
Im having some problems changing my admin password on my DCS920
I know the default login is Login: admin / Password: "blank"
So I go into maintence, and there's an option to change the password.
it lists:
old password
newpassword
confirm
So I leave the old password blank and type in my new password in the following 2 spaces. I click apply and a window pops up asking me to enter username and password. I just enter admin and leave the password blank. I hit ok, and everything seems to update ok. So i log out, and try to log back in.
A window pops up asking me for my password. I type in admin for my username, and my new password, and it wont work
I type leaving the username blank, and type in new password... WONT WORK
I type admin, and new password again.. WONT WORK
I try password with first letter capital.. WONT WORK
I try password with ALL CAPS... WONT WORK..
Basically it wont let me log in as admin anymore. I figure I may have typed the password wrong the first time so I reset the camera and try the process again.. SAME PROBLEM.
Am I doing something wrong in changing my password ?

I recently bought a tenda w548d Version 2.0 Adsl2+ Modem router. it worked fine with its default settings and wired connection was ok when i chose DSL uplink while installing its driver from CD. But it couldn't connect wireless. There were strong signals but connected computer couldn't get access to the internet. so i tried using ethernet uplink instead of DSL uplink while reinstalling the software Since then the light of ADSL never lights, even it never blinks. now the software on the cd can connect to the router. i cannot access its settings using IP address in browser, the page wouldn't load. I am so worried. Can i revert the setting back to dsl uplink?I can connect to the internet very smoothly using my old router so you can't blame my phone line or lan wire. I have tried reset the new router many times but still the ADSL light never lights up. And the ADSL light is ok because when i turn the router on, it lights with all the others.

However I have found that if I repeatedly try it eventually it will accept the change. This never happens using the wizards only making manual changes. I am running the camera with a Wi-Fi connection. I am not sure this is a router or camera firmware bug (running V1.12)

Router model no. is N 150 DIR-524.After configuring it was working fine for a week or so and then one fine day internet stopped working on my PC and router LED for internet was not glowing as well. So I called my ISP and they changed my ethernet card settings (nVidia).They changed the 'Speed/duplex settings' from 'Auto Negotiation' to '10 Mb Half Duplex' and then the internet started working. During this they had disconnected my router. Once they were gone, I reset the router and connected it back. Since then it ain't working Internet works fine when the cable is plugged directly in the ethernet card but doesn't work when plugged via router. Router does everything right from opening the '192.168.0.1' page to saving the settings. But there's no internet access.

Of course it would be great if the guests have to log on your personal page.On this page you would be able to indicate the rules and and limitations. View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm adding another router to my home network to extend my WiFi range. (Linksys e2500.) I'm trying to change its IP from the default 192.168.1.1 so that it doesn't conflict with my primary (dhcp) router.
To isolate matters I've reset the router to factory settings, turned off my mac's WiFi and then connected the Mac to a Lan port on the router. Now I can view the router's admin page at 192.168.1.1.
Now I change its local IP to 192.168.1.3 and leave the subnet as 255.255.255.0. The router reboots and after several minutes is inaccessible at any IP I try (still hardwired to the Mac with WiFi off). Ifconfig doesn't show the router and the only way I can get it back is to factory reset it again.
After changing name and password, the speed became much slower. Checking it with speed test, download is just 0.19 Mbps while upload is 3 Mbps. Wired speed is much better, download is 20 Mbps. So it is not the problem of I provider, comcast. How to solve this problem? I rebooted and reset it already.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to add the E3000 to my existing network to provide Wireless Connectivity for my users. The main router is a RouteFinder SOHO VPN (RF560). The RouteFinder acts as a gateway and provides DHCP. I do not want to change it's role or settings. When I added the E3000 using a Lan-to-Lan connection to the RouteFinder, all users lost access to the internet. As a quick fix as I was working on something else at the time, I just unplugged the E3000. Now I am reading through Article 3733 that I was originally referred to and that has me changing the settings on the RouteFinder which I do not want to do. Is there any way to accomplish adding this to my network without changing anything on the RouteFinder at all??? By the way...I am located in another state than this router and network. I can call and have someone plug and unplug stuff but all of the configuration has to be done remotely.
