We have a linksys WAG54GS router the secure easy setup button of which was pressed instead of the on off switch when a reset was required. Now we can only browse the internet via a cable from the pc lan port to the router ethernet port. Things done :- Secure easy setup button held down for 10 seconds. Router went to an unsecured one now back to secure.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi'm setting up a wireless network for a local B&B they currently have a Linksys WAG54GS ADSL router in one of the rooms but need the wireless signal to reach each guest room the house has thick brick walls and an upstairs.i was thinking of using 2 x repeaters, the WRE54G's, and to put one on the ground floor within range of the current ADSL router and to put another on the 1st floor within range of the repeater on the ground floor to receive the bounced signal.I don't know much about these repeaters and how they work exactly and so unsure if this would be a viable solution in my case.

I am having problems with my linksys wireless G ADSL gateway WAG54GS router. I am on Windows Vista/Internet Explorer. When I set up the router to work on the internet when I first bought it (several years ago), something must have gone wrong in the installation because it works only when connected to the computer by the lead, and NOT wirelessly.
While this is fine for general internet browsing etc on the main computer, my problem now is that I cannot connect anything else to it (such as my Playstation 3) because the router does not work wirelessly and I do not have the WPA key that the PS3 asks for. Is there any way can fix this without doing a complete reset on the router?
[ALSO: the router also periodically goes wrong, e.g. loses connection for no reason at all - I often have to disable and then enable the internet connection, or turn the router off for 15 seconds then switch it on again, and then it's fine again. I live in a rural area though, so it might be because of a poor connection. Our telephone connecton isn't very good either and sometimes goes wrong.]
I have an old router linksys WAG54GS and now with my new internet connection gave me a HUAWEI 530.I'm still using linksys.So i wanted to connect the HUAWEI on the Linksys cause it has an external button for wireles, which Linksys doesnt.I followed the wizard you wrote.The DHCP off on the HUAWEI Different IP.So the Wired LAN worked fine, having an IP from the Linksys, but the wireless doesnt get one..I tried a lot of things on the huawei, nat off etc but nothing On the linksys i give on DHCP IPs from 192.168.1.105 - 7.I tried connect the netbook but only wired worked, not even my cellphone.

The first part of the reinstallation is successful, I get to the screen that says Welcome to EasyLink Advisor. I press the Setup button, then the computer searches for several minutes. After the system comes right back to the same starting screen, not completing the setup nor giving an error message from it.

Currently I have a router with 4 networks/subnets: DMZ, public, protected, perimeter. DMZ is public DNS and web, no access to any other subnets, only 80 and 53 from public. Perimeter is an edge email server, only port 25 allowed to the email server on the protected subnet. Protected is all internal servers and workstatoins, no access from any other subnet and limited access out to public.

I have a Cisco Aironet 1240AG Access Point and I am trying to setup a guest network that is secure and limited in bandwidth utilization. I see an option under security > SSID Manager on the web interface to select an interface of Radio0-802.11G, Radio1-802.11A or both. Can I put the guest network on the Radio1-802.11A and make it more secure/bandwidth limited or does this option not matter?

The tunnel adapter is disconnected and I have had this problem before. i unistalled the adapter and re-installed it also checked the iphelper in services was started.

My roommate can connect his laptop and desktop to the router wirelessly, but my iphone and laptop can't connect. I've tried both of my devices on a wireless network at a friend's house, and both worked fine. We even changed AND removed the password and it doesn't let me log on the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedPurchased E4200 this week and did simple setup via CD setup (Cisco connect). Set up main name and password. Cisco Connect assigned "-guest" to end of main name for the guest account. Gave guest account its own password. Both main and guest accounts were broadcasting OK -- but guest account was not secure and could be accessed without password. (All software and firmware upgrades were done during initial setup).Reset the E4200 and restarted things from the CD setup. Created main account, main account password, and guest password again. In advanced settings, left basic wireless settings at initial settings, changed wireless secutiy to WPA2 Personal. Still having the guest account being broadcast in unlocked status. (Have turned off guest access for now until I can get password protection for it).

I recently had an issue with my laptop that required a complete reinstall of windows. As if this wasn't bad enough, I lost the password that I had for my router. Thinking it was no big deal I just went ahead and reset the router back to factory settings assuming I would be able to set up a network and encrypt it as I had before. Just testing the functionality, I was able to access my router while it was not encrypted and with the DSL modem plugged in, I also had internet access. I did this both wireless and with Ethernet cable.
Happy to see this, I decided it would be a good idea to re-encrypt my router to prevent any outside access. So as I had done before I went to the setting page where I set up a network with a web key. The only thing I entered at all was the paraphrase for the key then saved the setting to test it out. I refreshed the available wireless networks and mine was there and was now listed as secure. I then proceeded to click on the network, entered the key, and then waited for it to connect. The problem is, it never would connect. It continuously tries to connect, and says it is trying to "acquire the network address" but never does. Since then I have been on the hunt trying many different suggestions I have seen online, but none of the situations were quite like this one.
Had a secure network with my model wrt54g2 v1 router, then suddenly it's not showing up. All I have is a unsecured Linksys way on to the Internet. How can I get this back to my secure network?
