Linksys Wireless Router :: WPS Push Button On WRT610N Does Not Work?
Mar 28, 2012
I am facing problems of the WPS Push Button on the Linksys WRT610N version 2.0 router which has stopped working. I don't see the Blue LED blinking. The WPS button no more works on the router. It was working before. I did a firmware upgrade. Could this be the cause?
Region : UnitedKingdom Model : TD-W8951ND Hardware Version : V5 Firmware Version : TD-W8951ND_v5_120522 ISP : N/A
The wireless adapter settings page has an entry for 'PIN' and 'PBC' for WPS.Selecting either always results in the client station requesting the routers pin, indicating that the pushbutton selection is not working properly. The router was doing this with the version of hardware that it was shipped with. i have downgraded to 120522 and the router is behaving exactly the same.Has anyone successfully configured the router for pushbutton connection? do not suggest that we use the pin setting as we have a requirement for dumb devices to connect to wireless and they only support pushbutton connection.
Mu old router WRT610n is not reachable anymore... The address 192.168.1.1 gives an error and I cannot reset the router by button press.Wireless doesn't work and two of the three the leds keep on blinking all the time... One ethernet connection is still functioning as should.
just to relieve a little those who complain for the loss of functionalities/control caused by the new firmware, I want to let you know that yesterday evening when I came back home the router was bricked. After more than 2 hours of tests with the online support, they ended up the device has to be replaced. To add insult to injury, I ALSO HAVE TO PAY to ship my router to Cisco warehouse. I couldn't believe my eyes... It's not for the 10 bucks it costs the shipment (even if 10 bucks are much better in my wallet than in Cisco's), but I already spent around 300 bucks less than 2 months ago to buy the two devices and now I have to pay to fix something I have not broken.
I just got my new router today but i don't see a power button on the back of this unit. Am i blind? Of course the unit comes on when i plug in the adapter but i don't see a on off switch.
I have a Linksys Wireless Router, model WRT54G. I read in the user manual that it is best to turn off the router when not in use for better security measures, but there in no power button on the router. So does this mean that the power cord would have to be unplugged from the electrical outlet each time to turn the router off? This is kind of inconvenient, especially where my cord is plugged in. Also would unplugging it from the outlet each time, would this mess up the settings on the router? Is it really necessary to turn it off?
When adding a device that has a web protected setup button, can I use the web protected setup button on my Linksys E2000 router to set up the device even though I setup up my router using the Manual setup on the Web Interface configuration?
I can not get online, after a "Verizon" outage with my router connected, the Reset Button will not move. Can it be replaced? Or should I scrap the unit?
I bought a few months ago a WRT54gl router for home use. It works nice and everything, but today was the second time it totaly resetet without pressing the reset button. Why the router is resetting by its own?
I was given this router (it's my 3rd one) and cannot get the reset button to reset the password. I have run throught a 30/30/30 reset as well as just holding the button in for the standard 30 seconds.
I know the router works, as in i can ping it. It asks for a password when i go to 192.168.1.1, but *blank* and "admin" do not work. When i click the cancel button it displays a pink(salmon) screen that says "401 Unauthorized Authrization required". (all of this is when i am connected to it with an ethernet cable to #1)
When it's sitting there it has an led lit over power and one ove wlan which flickers from time to time.
I purchased a WRT610N router early this month, the wireless network was working completely fine when I first set it up. Today I tried to connect my laptop to my wireless network. The laptop isn't able to connect at all. I also got a Sony PSP which has WLAN on and that saying it cannot detect any access point which would be my router.
I was told that this router would push the PoE to the WAP4410N. I hooked the AP up to port 1 and no lights or anything... The network is all cat6, patch cords are cat6 shielded if this matters at all... what am I missing.
I have the Linksys WRT610N wireless router and would like to know if it is possible to block all domains ending in .XXX? The access restrictions let you type in a 'specific' URL, but using a generic domain name doesn't seem to work. I basically want to block all access to any URL that ends in .XXX.
I just bought a certified refurbished router. The model is WRT610N-RM. Where's what I've done:
1. Downloaded newest firmware from the site using old router, Then disconnected. Connected a lan cable to the new router. Powered up the router. Held down reset untill the light blinks. Went to the browser and typed 192.168.1.1. Entered password to go into router and upgraded firmware. 2. 5 Ghz Settings: Went to Wireless menu. Selected "manual", mode is "mixed" (If i chose N only for 5 Ghz, then It won't save my setting for internet security. Instead it will be "disable" no matter what". The rest was default. SSID is enabled. Then I set up the 2.5 Ghz. I have 3 other computers with N wireless card. Some others have G, however when I viewed available networks, I only see the 2.4 Ghz ssid. I tried to reboot and unplug power for 10 seconds, but no luck seeing the 5 Ghz.
ive tried all types of things i read online and it is stuck on moderate no matter what i do, im hooked into router directly, when i hook directly into modem it switches to open.
I was in the Wireless tab>Basic Wireless Settings and then I clicked the "Reset Security" button. I don't know what that did but I've been completely shut out of my connection ever since and I don't know how to fix it. I tried doing the install sequence of the router just now (Clone MAC address, then release and renew DHCP, power cycle modem, router, and PC) but it still didn't work.
I am finding it impossible to set up port forwarding. No matter what I do I remain completely stealthed when I do a port probe via [URL]... The only way I seem to be able to open a port is if I enable remote management. When I do that, whatever port I specifiy as the remote management port is then fully open. Obviously, I can't leave a port exposed like this and, anyway, I need to open multiple ports for my purposes.
I have had no problems with my WRt610N fo 2 years. Yesterday a problem occured and today again. Namely, I opened my laptop (the lid) and suddenly it could not see my network (SSID) among the rest of the neighbouring ones. The WiFi indicator in the tray showed the yellow "!". Since I have another (secondary) router wired to the primary (WRT610N) I tried and succeeded to connect to it (same SSID, but type "g").
Today the same situation. This is the straneg thing - if I 1st connect to the "g" router after a while the WIn7 reports my SSID being of type "gn" meaning it now sees the primary WRT610N. If I switch off the secondary the netowork is maintained by the primary router showing "n". It seems like my laptop cannot see my router (but can see all other networks) until it 1sr connects to the secondary, and afterwards it sees the primary router and can stay with it.
I've been really stumped when I decided to start using xbox live. When ever I try to join my friends party I am slammed with a NAT error. For years now I have not been able to forward ports at all. Any port checkers come back with unable to contact your router.I am fairly certain its the router because, I directly plugged my 360 into my modem and everything worked like a charm.I've read on a similar post found here "Similar post" that updating the firmware might fix the issue?
I am trying to filter a URL, facebook and it is not working. I have tried rebooting the router and it is still allowing access. I have provided the settings and ranges for PCs.
My WRT610n went out today for no apparent reason. All of my other peripherals are still running, but the router won't turn on. I've tried different transformers, outlets and powerstrips, with no luck -- no power. I've also tried a hard reset on it, with no luck.
How is it possible to block facebook (or other sites) on WRT610N router, given that I have already set up Internet Access restrictions based on day/hour ?
Any success with a recent vintage Macbook Pro connecting to the 5.8Ghz channel on a WRT610N. I can connect with the 2.4 channel without a problem but I cannot maintain a connection on the high channel. Linksys support told me that the hardware was not compatible with the high channel.
To connect my new "smart tv" with my wireless linsys WRT610N, smart tv ask to take off all protection such as firewall and antivirus. Doing so, I cannot connect my laptop with my router. Is there a solution to connect both at the same time?
I read an earlier posting about an issue between SPI on the latest WRT610N Version 1.0 firmware and a user's Apple TV. This pointed me to a "solution" to a perplexing problem I was having.
I have 4 machines, 3 connected via WiFi and 1 on one of the wired ethernet ports. I also have 2 Apple Airport Express units for audio streaming as well as 2 iPhones connected wirelessly.
Now for the symptoms, which are all new since updating to firmware ver.1.00.03.15:
1. The WiFi machines see the Airport Express units and can stream audio to them. However, the iPhone Remote app has trouble staying connected to iTunes running on any of these machines. A router reboot is a temporary fix, but connection is eventually lost again.
2. The wired machine cannot see the Airport Express units, nor can the Remote app pair with iTunes on that machine. It's as though no Bonjour-related functions work. Here, a router reboot also provides a temporary fix, but one that lasts only minutes.
Based on that prior post, I disabled SPI on the router and, lo and behold, the wired machine suddenly sees all Airport Express units and can pair with the iPhone Remote app!
I was going crazy, verifying that I was not having Windows Firewall issues, that there wasn't an incompatibility with Windows 7 (which I'm running on all), that this wasn't a Homegroup incompatibility of some sort, that Bonjour was up to date, etc. Only turning off SPI fixed the problem entirely.
So, Linksys ...Any firmware bug fix in the works for this? Can I safely go back to the prior firmware update without security or function concerns? If so, where can I get my hands on the older firmware file?
i used my 610N v2 for 2 years and recently i upgraded my network from 100mb to fiber 500mb , however, if i directly plug the lan cable to my computer , i can get full speed , but with 610N, the speed is limited to 130 for both upload and download .i had already upgrade my firmware and did factory reset, none of them work. Is it the limitation of the router ?
