I bought a few months ago a WRT54gl router for home use. It works nice and everything, but today was the second time it totaly resetet without pressing the reset button. Why the router is resetting by its own?
View 1 RepliesI have WRT120N, i recently updated the firmware. 1.0.06. only my bad is i done it wireless. so its basically interrupted.I have tried, hard reset and power cycle and reinstall the firmware but still the problem occurs, this time its wired.it happens intermittently. i have tried pressing reset upon turn on and reinstall firmware on the bootloader. it stablized for a while but then disconnects and blinking stikes again.

The address 192.168.1.1 gives an error and I cannot reset the router by button press.Wireless doesn't work and two of the three the leds keep on blinking all the time... View 9 Replies View RelatedI was given this router (it's my 3rd one) and cannot get the reset button to reset the password. I have run throught a 30/30/30 reset as well as just holding the button in for the standard 30 seconds.
I know the router works, as in i can ping it. It asks for a password when i go to 192.168.1.1, but *blank* and "admin" do not work. When i click the cancel button it displays a pink(salmon) screen that says "401 Unauthorized Authrization required". (all of this is when i am connected to it with an ethernet cable to #1)
When it's sitting there it has an led lit over power and one ove wlan which flickers from time to time.
Any way for password recovery on 3560X without pressing "mode button"? A way, for example, to reach ROMMON with some escape sequence as in routers?
I have SWITCHES with CISCO 3560X boards embedded and they don't have the "mode button" taken out. So, it's a problem if there's no other way of restoring it.
I want to use my router to boost the signal to the 2nd floor of my house, and Im having some problems.When I connect my router to the web application to change restore it to manufaturer setting the router keeps broadcasting my old SSID. The laptops in the house pick up that signal. I want to reset my router so it can broadcast my new network.

I don't know what that did but I've been completely shut out of my connection ever since and I don't know how to fix it. I tried doing the install sequence of the router just now (Clone MAC address, then release and renew DHCP, power cycle modem, router, and PC) but it still didn't work.

We noticed that when one of the clients -- an iPod Touch -- is not being used on the wireless network (that person being away), the router runs without failing. View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got a Belkin N+ Wireless router. Every day or two, all internet connections fail. If I pull the power plug on the router to restart it, all connections come back up as normal.
Is there something I can pinpoint that is causing this? Is the router getting "overloaded" or something? I didn't see anything in the router settings that I could tell would be related to this. Really getting tired of having to constantly manually restart this thing...

I read in the user manual that it is best to turn off the router when not in use for better security measures, but there in no power button on the router. So does this mean that the power cord would have to be unplugged from the electrical outlet each time to turn the router off? This is kind of inconvenient, especially where my cord is plugged in. Also would unplugging it from the outlet each time, would this mess up the settings on the router? Is it really necessary to turn it off?

When I try to connect to the internet, both show the wired connection as good but neither can connect to the internet. The BDP-S580 also has wireless connectivity, but it can’t connect to the internet wirelessly. I have two desktop computers connected via ethernet and two laptops connected wirelessly to the same router and all have internet connectivity. I have tried the “auto” settings on the TV and Blu-Ray player and also tried entering the network information in manually. I still can’t connect to the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use a WRT54GL with U-Verse. The problem is that the router does not get a connection to the modem. It can't ping the modem, and it doesn't show up on on the list of devices connected to the modem. DHCP assigns an IP address of 127.0.0.1, which is outside the range of the modem [192.168.1.1 ... 192.168.1.253]. The router is also showing a default gateway of 0.0.0.0, and a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0. (And yes, I have released and renewed the lease, rebooted the modem, and reconnected the modem.) The router WAN side is set to DHCP, and the operating mode was changed from gateway to router (the gateway setting doesn't work either, for that matter).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI currently own a LinkSys-WRT54GL 802.11a/b/g wireless router, and my ISP is Comcast Cable providing me with 15 Mbps (that's bits per second, I believe) download speed. I am wondering if there is any benefit with using an 802.11n wireless router to access the Internet? The maximum theoretical speed of the WRT54GL router is 54 Mbps (802.11g), which is faster than the 15 Mbps provided by my ISP.
I know that 802.11n has a max bandwidth of 300 Mbps, and it would work for intra- house transfers, such as streaming video from one computer to another.
But is there any benefit to 802.11n for Internet activity, such as web browsing, gaming, and streaming video from Netflix.
Wireless doesnt get enabled on pressing fn+F2 key, it turns on for a fraction of a second signified by the sound but it again sounds and turns off.Just cant get it enabled...Is there any other way to turn it on, on my Inspiron 1545?

With that user id i used to access the Coova AP router and internet.Now i want restore the WRT54GL firmware on Lynksys router. But with the used id and password which i had configured the router is not at all accessible. So i did 30-30-30 reset on the router 2-3 times. Now i can see openwrt login page with 192.168.1.1 IP address. It is asking for user id and password. I tried all the combinations of user id and password, but no luck. I browsed some link on the internet and some people have recommended that default user id as a "root" and blank password. But with that also the router is not accessible. I cant to do much on the router untill i will log in to router. I have spent lot of time on this. How to restore back the original WRAT54GL firmware on my router. Anyhow i want WRAT54GL firmware on Lynksys router
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently had to unplug my Linksys WRT54GL wireless router when doing some rearranging and now i'm unable to get a internet connection. I've confirmed the modem is actually working by connecting my laptop directly (which worked), but when I connect the Linksys WRT54GL wireless router to my modem the internet connection goes away. The connection is lost when connected via wireless and hardwired to one of the back ports. I've tried resetting the modem, router and computer and read every forum out there trying to find something, but i'm still stuck.
