Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT610N Network Drive Can't Be Accessed By Any Computer

Feb 27, 2013

I have a WRT610N v2 with current firmware.  The hard drive is a Western Digital Elements formatted to NTFS and already has music and photos so that other computers in the house can view them. This setup was done awhile back, maybe even a year ago.
Anyway, I can map the network drive and see everything there, but then after awhile (minutes - maybe 10) of idle time, the network drive can't be accessed by any computer, either as the mapped drive (W or by clicking the WRT610N in the network tree. It's like it goes to sleep and can't be awakened by activity.
I have searched the forums here and at WD but haven't found a solution or even this exact problem.  I did find a utility on the WD site that is supposed to fix/eliminate the short idle time, but it didn't seem to work.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT350N User Id And Password

Aug 2, 2011

I have the WRT350N router. to access my usb storage link from within the LAN it asks for user id and password as I want it. but to access it from outside my LAN it just connects without asking for user id and password.   My guess is it has something to do with shares and how they are setup. I can't figure out how to set it up so it asks for user id and password when attempting to connect to my storage link from the net?

Connect To A Router That Requires A Password?

Apr 6, 2012

I have a Cisco Valet wifi router that works fine with my laptop and my computer that has a usb wifi adapter. The problem is that for some reason when I try to connect my moms computer to the router it can only connect to the guest router and when I try to connect to the regular router it just fails even when I use the correct password. I have tried uninstalling the driver and re-installing it for the usb wifi adapter for my moms computer (NetGear N150 USB Adapter) and its nothing works. Her computer by the way is an Acer Windows XP SP3 machine.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT350N - Workgroup PC

I have a wrt350n at home and it works fine but it has only one little issue. When I connect my lap wireless I cant see the other work group pcs but if I wire the laptop there is no problem. I use ip to share files and not net bios but sometimes it would be great to find all the pcs on the work group easily and not memorize all the ips.
Disabled firewalls, updated firmware, tried to change network ip... nothing solved. Have no problems at work with an WRT54G.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT350n No Internet Access

Dec 26, 2012

I am having issues with the WRT350n where I am getting an "No internet access" message. When I look at the wireless network connection I can see the wireless router and it says "connected" but when I scroll my mouse over the icon, it reads "No internet access". I try to access a webpage and it will not work. I originally had it connected and working properly in my home. However, I removed it and tried connecting in my office and started experiencing this problem. I did not run the setup using the CD provided. I just unplugged it from my home network and reconnected it to my office network, of course with a few passphrase changes and wireless MAC filters only allowing certain PC's to be able to access the internet. I double checked all MAC addresses of each device that I entered into the table and they are correct. All devices see the wireless network but cannot access the internet. Any suggestions? Should I re-run the installation using the CD?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT350N FTP Access To USB Storage?

Jul 17, 2011

I have my WRT350N setup.  all computers within my LAN can access my usb storage device.   I can not access my usb storage device using a computer outside my LAN.
if you log on to it will ask you for user id and pass word to log into my router.
if you try to log on to it wont even connect asking you for a user id and password.
my guess is the router is not allowing port 21 to be accessed, but I'm not sure.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT350N Can't Get App To Connect To Server Via External IP

May 23, 2012

I have a Linksys WRT350N which I am trying to use an app on my iPhone to connect to my server using the public/external IP of my cable modem. I have the necessary ports opened and also tried adding the server to the DMZ but no matter what I can not get the app to connect to my server via my external IP when I am on my WiFi. I can connect without any problems if I use the NATed IP on the server when my phone is connected to the WiFi. It also works fine connecting to the external IP if I am on any other WiFi or the cellular network (which shows ports are forwarded correctly). I just can't connect to the server when I use the external IP and I am on my WiFi network. This is annoying as I need to keep changing the app's settings back and forth between the external and internal IP whenever I am home or away. I am left thinking this is some kind of issue with the WRT350N not allowing local internal traffic to reach the external IP. Any way to resolve this, maybe by entering a static route?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT350N Bricked / Lost After Firmware Upgrade?

Jan 4, 2012

I tried to upgrade the firmware of my WRT350N but while upgrading  my wife switched on the oven and.... yes, power down -> the upgrade has been interrupted. Now the router is no longer responding, it  shows just the green power light on (not blinking). I tried all the resets I found googling (pressing the reset button for 30 sec, isconnecting power and reconnecting it again) but no way, there's no way to ping the router at its default address All the leds are switched off (internet, usb, wireless, security) except the green power light.  Is there another way to have it back or it is definitely lost?

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT350N Chokes And Hangs On Large And Fast Downloads

Apr 7, 2012

I recently upgraded my internet speed service from my ISP (Brighthouse).  They installed a gateway to replace their old modem, but I have had it bridged so it should act as a modem. shows downloads on the order of 40-50 Mbps and uploads around 5 Mbps.  If I try doing something interactively that pushes the speed and size of files (like flying over Google earth using my mouse to guide the direction and speed) my connection seems to hang.  I have to reset the router (unpower and repower it) to get my internet connection to work.  This has also happened when I quickly downloaded a series of large images - I click to get the next page fairly soon after the current page has finished downloaded.  My router is a WRT350N.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT160N Requires Regular Reboots?

Jul 25, 2012

So I have a WRT160N firmware v3.0 wired connection to my PC, and at least once a day my connection speed drops from 2mbs down to almost dial up speeds at 60kps. Just unplugging the router then plugging it back in seems to fix it every time.   I've contacted my service provider and they say there's no issue on their end, and since I don't get this problem when I plug the modem directly to the PC I agree with them.  I've done a factory reset and that didn't work.  I've gone through the FAQ and can't find anything useful in there.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G V6 - ISP Requires PAP Or CHAP Authentication?

Sep 9, 2011

My ISP here at my mother's in Italy ( gave me the following configuration:
1. Supported Protocol: PPPoE or PPPoA

2. VPI: 8

3. VCI: 35

4. Encapsulation: LLC (If not supported: VCMUX/NULL)

5. Modulation: Multimode

6. Authentication Protocol: PAP or CHAP
if I connect my laptop to the ADSL modem, it all works just fine and I can connect to the internet (as you can see )
HOWEVER, if I then try to configure my WRT54G v6 to use this internet connection (I NEED to be wireless here, or I won't be able to use my iPhone and iPad), there is no way apparently for me to configure the Encapsulation, Modulation, and Authentication Protocol above. I just upgraded my WRT54G's firmware, and am now running firmware Ver.1.02.8, 10/05/2009. I was hoping this would allow me to set these parameters, but I can't find a way.
I tried just configuring the WRT54G with PPPoE and the ISP's userId/password, but this doesn't seem to suffice, and I don't see any other settings I could try.

Protocols / Routing :: WRT350N - Linksys Router Does Not Work Wirelessly

Aug 16, 2012

I have this WRT350N with me for a long time. It always worked well, and for a while I didn't used it (like 1 year). Last morning, I set it up and put it to work again and it worked perfectly, but in the evening the wireless stop working. Through cable, the internet works finely.

The light does not turn on or blink anymore. The router setup says that SSID broadcast is enabled. But I can't find the network, even if I type its name and password (supposing it was in invisible mode or something like that).

So I restored the router to its normal configuration, and once again the wireless does not work. Is there something else I can do to make the wireless work again?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 USB Printer Requires Cisco Connect Software?

Jul 28, 2011

I was excited to learn that USB printer support was added to the E4200. I'm disappointed to find that the USB printer option that is available in firmware version 1.0.02 requires Cisco Connect software. There is no version of Cisco Connect for Linux. I was hoping that this would allow the printer to be shared among my Win7 desktop, Win7 laptop, and my Linux desktop running Ubuntu 10.10. No such luck. WIth the printer connected to the router I can print with any one computer. My previous configuration had the printer connected to my WIn7 desktop so that desktop had to be turned-on to print. The bottom line is that I still can't print from the Linux box without turning on the desktop machine. Cisco please provide a way to connect to the printer without using the Connect software! Or provide a java version that can be run on any OS.

Linksys WRT54G - Router Requires Constant Re-setting

Sep 7, 2012

Lately, I upgrade the firmware on my router. A linksys WRT54G. In order to access the router I had to do a manual reset to factory settings. Post upgrade, for some reason I couldn't access the internet. I tried everything for hours and finally through sheer luck of unplugging every cable and ever power lead and plugging it back in, it started working.

However, lately I've found that the only computer connected to the internet via eathernet cable is loosing connection intermittently. Also we seem to get constant huge spikes in latency and very inconsistent speed. Unplugging the router and plugging it back in again seems to solve this problem temporarily, but requires toggling of power multiple times a day. Also I had what I believe was an IP address conflict, or lack of an IP address once, but using the windows troubleshoot errors fixed that by resetting my wireless network card. (This was on a 2nd machine)

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: AE1000 Requires Connections To Be Managed By Windows 7

Jan 19, 2011

Trying to install the Linksys AE1000 wireless adapter on Windows 7 x64. So I follow the instructions. insert CD. Insert adapter. The i get this error:
"Linksys Wireless-N Router requires that wireless connections are to be managed by the Microsoft Windows Wireless Connection Manager. Some laptops and computers are pre-loaded with a different wireless connection manager which prevents your Valet or Linksys Wireless-N Router installation from loading. If this is the case, then you will need to disable or turn OFF the other wireless connection manager, and enable the Microsoft Windows Wireless Connection Manager instead."
What manager? This is windows 7, I'm not using any third party wireless utility so I don't understand why I'm getting this particular error. If windows wireless connection manager is off, how do I enable it?I've always managed my network setting through the Network and sharing center,I've tried:
(1) sweeping registry files before install(2) Plugging in AE1000 first and manually installing drivers
When I did this, the device shows up successfully in device manager and the driver installs smoothly, however when I go to network adapters, the AE1000 is listed as disabled. I tried enabling it but to no avail. Running the network diagnostics claims the driver doesn't work despite the fact that it installed successfully.
After several restarts and disabling/re-installations I recieve the same error. The end goal is to connect the AE1000 to a Cisco E3000 router.

Linksys Cable / DSL :: Cisco X2000 Drops Wireless Signal - Requires Reboot

Jul 15, 2012

I recently installed a Cisco X2000. Several PCs running Windows XP Pro connect wirelessly. Also, we have an Android device and iPhone connected to the wireless network. We have a network printer and network drive connected via wires to the router. Most of the time the router and cable modem features work well. However, every so often all devices lose wireless signal simultaneously. It is not possible to reconnect to the X2000 unless I unplug the X2000 and plug it back in. After this reboot, we can connect again. Obviously, this is quite frustrating. By the way, we get acceptable signal strength after the X2000 locks out however none of the devices (computers or phones) are able to connect.

I also went into the USB drive and reformatted and started all over again. My PS3 can easily see the other computers on the network, but I would like to use the USB port on the router to not have to have a computer running to stream music. Is there another menu location on the PS3 I should be using to locate the USB? Or have I not done something correctly in the settings?
