May 13, 2011I'm using a 2wire 2701HG-B wireless router/dsl modem combo. My computer is a Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. The router/modem has been reliable for the last 2 years.. hardly ever needing a reset, reboot, or anything. Then all of a sudden my wifi network didn't show up anymore. I did a reboot, nothing. Kind of weird so I got on the phone with AT&T and they walked me through some simple stuff and they determined it's either the router or my computer. Well I know it's not the computer, I can use the mobile hotspot on my android phone and it gets on just fine.All of the lights on the router are green, AT&T showed that all the tests show the internet connection is working. Since the router is not sending out a wifi signal anymore, I had to plug the ethernet cable in. The system recognizes a connection but says it isn't connected because it is a "public" connection. Additionally, if I go to network connections with the cable plugged in, I can see my DirecTV DVR is showing on the network (because it is connected to the router via ethernet too). So it isn't broadcasting wifi, I can see my DVR over the network in windows, but I can't get the IP renewed.

When I try to do an ipconfig /renew, it says this:Windows IP Configuration An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : The operation was canceled by the user.An error occurred while releasing interface Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system cannot find the file specified.The AT&T rep said I may need a new modem and router. It seems weird because it worked fine one night, then the next night all of a sudden it didn't work.

Jun 9, 2011I have a dell laptop. It will pick up and connect to the neighbors wifi. But when trying to connect to mine it will not acquire a network address. It continuously searches but says 0.0.0... it says the signal is excellent but will just not acquire the ip address. By the way, cell phones with Wifi connect to this network with no problems.

It is university policy that you must be economical with the IP addresses. That is, the subnets must be as small as possible, but they must be large enough to accommodate the maximum number of hosts you were given. Also, it is university policy that the respective gateway router to the outside world should always be given the highest possible host IP address in the subnet. The student subnet should have a higher IP network address than the staff subnet. The network must be able to support up to 60 machines on the staff subnet (not counting the router) and up to 120 machines on the student subnet (also not counting the router).

2wire 2701hg-d As Wireless Router
Jan 22, 2012My linksys wireless router bit the dust, trying to resurrect this old modem for use as a wireless router only. I've got the 2wire 2701hg-d connected to my isp's cable modem and to my laptop via two of the LAN ports. the lac connection gives me internet access (obviously...here i am...) but the wireless connection gives me no internet access...i can log in to the 2wire's firmware via the wireless connection...but i' m not sure what settings (if needed) i have to change.

Jun 15, 2011Everyone's 2wire works in bridge mode of they follow these steps url...but when i try i get no internet connection nor does it pick up any internet activity. I even input my account and dsl password in the netgear router gateway still no luck.I'm trying to use the netgear router because in my room i only get 2 signals bars and if i switch to the netgear wireless N router the signal strength would be alot better.

Nov 21, 2012The setup looks like this:I have a core swith (HP Procurve) which is connected to Cisco router ( which is ISP router).I have to create vlans and do intervlan between them and reach the ISP router.I created two vlans on HP Core Switch ( apart from default vlan 1) , vlan 99 ip add 10.110.234.1 subnet 255.255.255.128 and vlan 999 ip add 10.110.234.129 subnet 255.255.255.128,vlan 1 ip add 10.110.232.42 subnet 255.255.254.0.tagged the ports of vlan 99 and vlan 999 in vlan 1. I am able to do intervlan routing, but i cannot reach router which is 10.110.232.1 subnet 255.255.252.0.I tried these scenrio on packet tracer, it is working fine.

Feb 19, 2013I am just confused over the fact that a router configured with 10.1.1.1 address (assuming it's got 255.255.255.0 mask) can communicate to a PC connected to one of it's LAN ports and manually setup to have 10.1.1.2/8 address. I was sure that since these are two different subnets they won't see each other. But they do and searched wiki and just googled to see why, but with no success. A friend of my friend says something about 'same range' but it makes little sense to me.
I just need a good article about it or a crystall clear explanation, because I feel my understanding of IP is not as good as I used to believe.

Mar 31, 2011I have att dsl and they supplied me with a modem, a motorola model type 2210, and my belkin surf N300 router is giving me issues connecting to the internet. Im pretty sure my wireless network adapter is a netgear wg311v3.The issue im having is that sometimes i can connect to the internet just fine, and sometimes i cant connect to the internet. I know it is a router issue because when i plug the modem into my comp, i can access the internet 100% fine.I also think it is not a wireless network adapter issue because i ran an ethernet cable from the router to my comp and had the same issues. There are 2 other computers on the network, one of them is a year or two newer than my dell desktop, and has no issues whatsoever connecting to the internet via the router. The other computer on the network is a Wii, and has connection issues when playing online (probly a different issue), but can access the internet no problem.
