Random Disconnections From Wireless On One PC
May 28, 2012
We sort of recently got wireless internet, have had it for 2-3 months now I think and everything was running smoothly. Yesterday my internet randomly disconnected and it was only from this (my) pc, the internet was fine for everything else in the house which includes another pc, 3 laptops, cellphones, ipods, and gaming systems. It has been going out randomly since maybe 6pm yesterday. I have to completely restart my computer for it to work again. The only thing I tried was to unplug the modem and router for a bit and plug them back in, which did nothing for my computer lol. When I did that though the other computer had an ip conflict that came up which it's had in the past with my own pc but after I restarted my computer they were both fine. My computer still has random disconnections from the internet though. I don't understand why my computer is the only one affected and why it's starting now when it's been fine for the 2-3 months it's been working.

this had happened for a few months and i did not really mind until the disconnections worsen. usually when i power on the router and started using the internet, it will disconnect randomly once. my wireless SSID will disappear and lost connection. and no matter how i refresh the SSID still won't broadcast.
the only way to get back internet access is to re-power on the router, so the SSID will be broadcasted again.
my wrt54g2 V1 router had recently upgrade to the latest firmware version,1.0.04. but still disconnects as usual. however the disconnections only happens once, after u re-power on the router, you will not disconnect again.
but after turning off my laptop, and use it again after few hours, the same thing will happen again, a random disconnection and got to re-power on the router.

I have setup the existing wifi router (couple of years ago) so do have the basic networking knowledge but am not up-to-speed with all the latest developments in the industry2. ISP have provided a '******' ADSL modem that i need to connect to get this whole netwrok working. its only supports ethernet connections - (i live in a third world country)3. I have installed a TP-link Wifi router (WR841Nd). The modem on stand-alone basis is fairly decent, covers decent range on ground floor (my house is fairly big and is double story building) but with few dead spots. It supports N series so speed is quite good as long as one is within range.
Problemi have been living with it for couple of years but since recently i have been experiencing a lot of drop-outs/random disconnections and slow speed. I have tested my wifi router at friend's place and it showed no signs of problems so it has to be my ADSL modem (phone line is fine, though i am not close to exchange but that is not an issues as my neighbours are using the same phone line/ISP and they dont have an issue)another problem i have is the coverage, my current wifi only covers the ground floor and i would like to extend this to upper portione am looking to change my ISP provided ADSL modem. The problem is i dont know if i buy an ADSL modem off amazon and whether it would work or not because the setup is not straight forward and the ISP staff is corrupt. They dont provide with quality hardware neither do they have technical competence so i literally have to beg them at time to at least come and see the problem.Question1: ISP provided ADSL modem replacementi know the settings for ISP modem so i can search how i can replicate the same with Billion but can this work?Question2: RAnge ExtenderI am thinking of buying couple of powerline wireless extenders from netgear.

I have installed 4 of these units in a commercial premises offering free wifi. Since the day they were installed (5Months ago) we had connectivity issues with mobile devices. This was somewhat resolved in the latest FW 1.0.04 but we are still having random disconnections on the units every 2 - 4 days and have to reboot the units. Lately the units have become unresponsive and reset themselves back to factory settings.
What we have done so far:
Changed router models - No change
Changed from Static IPs & DHCP - No change
Turned on isolation - No change
Performed a wifi analysis to pick the best channel for each unit - Slight signal gain but still disconnects
Changed to 20Mhz only (And all other variations) - No change
I think I am left with no option but to return these for some other brand. I'm really regretting buying these units at the minute...

- Small Home-Office network based on a Cisco WRV210 VPN Router connected to another WRV210 in a remote location.
- The WRV210 provides 2 WAP-protected SSIDs, one for the office network and one for visitors
- Wireless channel is set 5 channels away of the closest networks (using inSSIDer)
- There are about 12 wireless devices, 4 connected to the office network the rest to visitors. Not all devices are connected at the time of failure. All wireless devices use DHCP which is set to last 1 day and provide 100 IPs.
- The wireless devices are 1 desktop, 3 notebooks (all clean), iPads, iTouch and Nook.
- The failure symptom is that almost daily, and most likely around the same time, no wireless device can connect to any of the SSIDs unless the router is power-cycled. During the failures, which we have witnessed first hand, there are no apparent reasons: no new SSIDs, now SSID in close range on the same channels, nothing we can easily observed in the network in terms of connections or unusual activity.
- A weirdo also presented by the WRV210 was that its web pages were shown erratically. That was corrected by downgrading the firmware from the latest to previous version.
We have used a loaner Linksys router WRT54GC with only the visitor Network on it and even though the situation is not as frequent, it has happened already a couple of times. The WRV210 is out of warranty and discontinued, so we get no support from Cisco that is worth paying for.

Network running about 60 computers, most of which are running windows 7 professional. Some are on a domain, some are not.At (seemingly) random times, some computer on the network will lose the ability to browse websites (including the web interfaces of networked devices). I can't identify what circumstances cause this to occur. I only find out about it when someone calls me.From the affected computer:I can ping sites I can ping our Cyberoam UTM (which acts as our DNS, DHCP, and firewall)disabling/enabling connection doesn't fix the problem releasing/renewing ip doesn't fix the problem flushing dns doesnt fix the problem uninstalled antivirus on two test machines, problem still randomly manifests.replaced the Cyberoam with newer model users have claimed that if they wait a long period of time (40+ minutes) the problem sometimes resolves.rebooting the computer resolves the issue until it randomly occurs again changing the computer's mac address also resolves the issue until it randomly occurs again.

I have a 2 computer connected to the WRT54GS which is connected to the RCA DCM 425. It was initially fine, however now the internet is disconnecting at an absurd rate, at least 3 within an hr, sometimes more, and the only way it would reestablish connection is by unplugging and replugging.I have called time warner's customer support and they said it was because of the router. I have searched through various threads and saw and some had similar problems, but they were related to wireless instead of wired ( my case) so is there some settings i can change within the linksys to minimize the amount of disconnections? Becaused based on the log from the RCA,it seems that they are not reading each other too well. Are there any other routers that may establish a connection better than the GS?

Ive been through 5 routers. All of them, except ONE has had a very annoying problem. The WiFi disconnects like anything randomly. The funny thing: The 4 that disconnect have all been working on 802.11n 300mbps. The 802.11g DG834Gv5 is as solid as a rock, maintaining connection for months on end, no wireless dropouts. Ive tried fiddling with the 4 routers (DGN2200, DG834N, Belkin N1 Vision, and another one ive forgotten), putting them onto 54mbps, which always works perfectley. When its on 145mbps or 300, they disconnect. No pattern, just fall off. When reconnecting, I can see them in the network selection thingy, but it just gives me the error 'Cannot connect to XXXX', only solution is to turn off the wireless radio and turn it back on via router interface.

I have had my DIR-825 for a year and half. My computer that is wired directly to the router keeps losing the connection to the router - unable to obtain an address. All of my other devices (that are connected via wireless) still hold the connection with no issues. I've checked the cable, unplugged/plugged back into the router, and it shows connection on the network card on the back of the computer.I have used the system interface to ensure the address is a valid one. I have powered up and down the computer multiple times and have also powered down and up both the router and the cable modem.

at our office we've recently upgrade from a old consumer-grade linksys wag200g modem/router/ap to the Cisco SRP527w. The Cisco is suffering from very frequent ADSL disconnections. These disconnections happens when there is some traffic to the internet and they seem to don't affect the LAN routing: on the weekends there are no disconnections at all while during the working hours there may be disconnections every FEW MINUTES making this router unusable. Often these disconnections force us to do a full reboot of the router.
Firmare version is SRP520W-1.1.19, the latest. ADSL line is a 6Mbps/640kbps. Noise margin is about 11dB for downstream and 20dB for upstream.
No voice line is used and therefore they are both disabled. 2 wireless network are active. The old linksys was (and is) working correctly, no adsl disconnections at all. Never.

I have been having intermittent wireless trouble. This includes Ping spiking, Wireless network drop-outs (The network stop appearing on available network list) and packet loss. This is all completely random (though very common) and is frustrating to say the least. As far as I know, the problem is not nearly as bad on other devices in the house , so I suspect that my network card has become shoddy. I have tried updating, removing, and re-installing network drivers to no avail. I have also used cmd and I have pinged 192.168.1.254, which shows random ping spikes, and some packet loss as well.

Our wireless has worked fine over the past couple of years, both mine and my mom's laptops having no problem connecting. We bought Roku not long ago, which connects your tv to the internet so you can use netflix, hulu, etc., and it had no problem connecting. Now, it just stopped connecting. It detects the network but just wont connect to it. The password is right and everything. We also have this problem with an iPod touch, tablet, smartphone, and wii.

This has been a problem for quite a while now, jumping from Shaw to Telus,I have completely exhausted, and I have no idea what's wrong.I live in a household with another family, and we share internet connections, Telus Fiber Optik, as of now. Me and my brother both have our own computer and are connected via wireless adapter, and the other family has one laptop with wireless connection.
The problem would be that randomly, the internet would slow down considerably, with pings going insanely high, like over 9000ms (not joking). At first,I thought I was just too far away from the router. So I moved to a room directly under the router, and the internet was completely fine for around 1 week, then the random ping spikes started to happen again. Now, I've tried tweaking wireless settings, and checking to make sure its just not my wireless adapter, however my brother's adapter is new, but it has the same problem too, so I doubt its the adapters fault.

I have called support before they can't fix it. and being knowledgeable with routers has not worked at all. I turned off every wireless device in the house, even the microwave it still happens. I change the channel countless times it still happens.

I have a problem with my WUSB600N in that it periodically stalls my PC for about twenty seconds. It happens randomly, but particularly when I am using YouTube or playing online games. The symptoms are basically that the screen and process lock up. Sometimes I can continue to move the mouse for a short period, but usually that stops moving too. If I'm playing music in the background (iTunes usually or YouTube) then the music keeps going after the lockup, again only for a short period. Usually about twenty seconds or so later, the whole things recovers. I've tried Alt-Tab or Ctrl-Alt-Del while locked, but that does nothing until the system recovers, at which point i find myself with the Task Manager window or back in Windows, so clearly the keystroke has hit the system normally.
PC is running Windows 7 64, with Avast antivirus, Zonealarm firewall, Malwarebytes antimalware. Its an E6750 on a P5N32E Deluxe with 2G RAM.The wireless access point is about five metres away in a straight line through an open doorway. Signal strength is generally excellent (4 of 5 bars is almost invariably showing whenever I look).I've tried one site which suggested using the RALink drivers instead, but I could not even get that to recognise and activate the WUSB600N, so I'm back with the current (as of today) Linksys drivers straight off their site (18-Jan-10 3.0.10.0). Adhoc 11n disabled, 11h enable, Multimedia/Gaming disable, Radio on/off enable. I've tried with all enabled, but still happens. So I'm back with default configuration.

We have about 15-20 APs out in the field, and at random they seem to disassociate from the WLCs and re-associate within a few minutes. We have not looked into that entirely yet, but we are having an issue with a few. Sometimes, they will disassociate and after a few hours reassociate.

I'm having some rather odd issues with my wireless connectivity. Running a draytek 2830n router. The wireless connection drops out at random sometimes, at other times it connects (shows full reception) but does allow any kind of internet connection. Plugging in by lan cable allows normal function.I have no clue whats going on but I did just notice that shutting down one of the laptops connected to the network (Dell lx502) appears to have solved the problem for the moment. I've not had a chance to test this as a long term solution. However I believe this is the only laptop with a dual band wifi card. This problem was also occurring on our previous router, a draytek 2820vn but the symptoms were a bit different and this laptop was not there at the time.Is it possible for one machine to knock out an entire wireless network? The other change I made yesterday was to activate the bind ip to mac function on the router for our new NAS as I was messing around with ftp configurations.

I have a E2500 router that until recently has been working fine, the router currently will reboot at random occasions. I have tried resetting the router to factory defaults to test if the firmware was an issue but both the factory default and the most recent firmware build(1.0.05 build 2) offered on the download support page. I have tried 2 different AC adapters to test power and two different Cat5 cables so hard ware wise everything is looking good. I am concerned that it may be an issue still with firmware or with the cooling fan and the unit may be overheating.

Desktop PC: Hardwired Ethernet
Laptop: Wireless
Xbox 360 (1): Ethernet
Xbox360 (2): Wireless
Networked Printer: Wireless
The hardwired connections are fine, but at random the Printer, laptop and wireless Xbox connections will drop out and i'll have to reboot the router to get it working again. Every now and then my adapter won't be able to connect to the internet for a few minutes, and then it just comes back. This happens frequently, varying from every few minutes to every few hours. If I re-connect the adapter, though, a connection instantly comes back. There's no sign that it's lost connection, the taskbar still displays Internet access and a 5 bars, and the blue light on the adapting keeps flashing; but I just can't connect to the iternet at all.

I've been having this problem for quite some time, mostly since my mother bought her first Asus Laptop that came with an Asus WL-530g V2 wireless router.Problem is sometimes I get a random disconnect where Local Area Connection is identifying. On some occasions it reconnects on it's own after a few seconds, other times I have to diagnose the problem and I get a "Windows doesn't have a valid IP config" problem but it fixes that. The other problem, and I don't know if the two are related is that very often, for short/long periods of time I get a drastic reduction of internet speed. From what I can tell, it's got to be something to do with the network configuration or the actual router itself, it's very old and Asus stopped making firmware for it in '09. Useful data Basically I have a wired connection from my desktop to the wireless router.

When I am using my laptop, my connection will drop at random moments mostly when I'm playing League of Legends. If I'm not playing it rarely disconnects.
