Suddenly Get Internet Continuous Disconnections From Skype?
Sep 2, 2011
When there's more than the usual (3) computers connected to our home network, i suddenly get internet problems which includes continuous disconnections from skype and wow (That's those I've noticed so far).Calling my ISP won't work because they will only say that since it's only my computer then it isn't their fault etc.
Just this weekend, my DIR-655 has suddenly started blasting out continuous IGMPV2 Membership broadcasts, causing a flood of network traffic that's not normal and is interfering with other traffic. Rebooting everything in the system didn't fix it, turning off the other machines on the network (3 + NAS) didn't fix it, and I couldn't find anything in the configuration of the DIR-655 to stop it.
What is the cause of periodic disconnections? I don't know what kind of information I'm supposed to give, but I can say that the internet disconnects randomly but connects again.
Looking for a SOHO device that could accomplish not only to connect people from home to Internet, but also to let me remotely access my work stuff (from my home office), RV180W sounded great and really cost effective. I could connect to Internet, FROM Internet, separate home, work and guest VLANs, all in just one device... sounded just GREAT! Bought one but (unfortunately) I have to say I'm quite disappointed with its performance, outnumbered errors (how many!) and continuous lost of Internet connectivity (can't stay a full day without one).I've searched a lot (not only here) and tried many things, listing some:
- Upgrading firmware (now v1.0.2.6): done several times, once with nothing connected to the router besides a local wired laptop, to ensure integrity - Resetting to factory defaults and performing a "clean configuration", from scratch (done several times) - Disabling Firewall functions (once all of them) - Checking the real need of every option and making sure I had just the ones I needed configured
I have (in a very "consistent" way) the following problems:
- Poor performance (it's clearly much better when I directly connect to the cable modem's WiFi OR to another router connected to this cable modem). I could say that it seems to have 50% of the performance I had with my CISCO/Linksys E4200 and Netgear "elder" routers.
- Persistent disconnections / resets: Sometimes it happens only with wireless, sometimes it looses the "Internet forwarding capability", retaining the local wireless connection (to other devices), sometimes it seems to make a full reboot (including a new DHCP request to cable modem). In a day this happens several times, I'd say from 3 to 15 times, depending on the day (couldn't figure out why).
CPU utilization is always shown as being 100%, what sounds amazing, because:
- There are usually just 4 wired connections (3 storage devices + 1 Desktop) and at most 5 wireless connections (including my laptop connected to the main VLAN and 3 Android devices and 1 "guest" laptop connected to GUEST VLAN) - The utilization % remains when I have jut one laptop performing Internet browsing and nothing more - VPN wasn't enabled yet (and it will be, as I want to remotely connect to my home office) [code] ......
Can connect to skype on wireless laptop but not internet.Just says that a problem has caused the program to stop and will notifu you if a solution is available. It shows that the computer has both local and internet access.
I use Skype regulary to voice chat with my friends (usually while playing Games such as Battlefield 3)This was fine for a year, using a wireless dongle to connect to the internet. However, now Skype plummets in quality until it disconnects. And games just lag out after about 5 minutes.[CODE]
Basically I keep losing my internet on my laptop only randomly. It started with only skype working and no internet on the pc. Then it went to alot of crashes that led me to system restore. Then it came back again. Im not sure what i can do about it?
I Have a problem with Internet connections. My laptOp will connect to Skype but not to Internet explorer. No error message appears, it just struggles to load web page. Wireless works fine as my iPad connects easily.Have looked at previous postings on the site that looked similar and reset the ie tools section to default..Recently had norton security expire and have uninstalled all of norton program.Have just signed up to new online security package through my Internet provider called Homesafe.
I moved to a new place, with a new internet provider (a dorm, so it's all public). In my old place, my PC worked fine (Windows XP), but now it fails to connect to any of the Browsers. My laptop (Windows 7) is fine though with the same cable. No problems at all.
We sort of recently got wireless internet, have had it for 2-3 months now I think and everything was running smoothly. Yesterday my internet randomly disconnected and it was only from this (my) pc, the internet was fine for everything else in the house which includes another pc, 3 laptops, cellphones, ipods, and gaming systems. It has been going out randomly since maybe 6pm yesterday. I have to completely restart my computer for it to work again. The only thing I tried was to unplug the modem and router for a bit and plug them back in, which did nothing for my computer lol. When I did that though the other computer had an ip conflict that came up which it's had in the past with my own pc but after I restarted my computer they were both fine. My computer still has random disconnections from the internet though. I don't understand why my computer is the only one affected and why it's starting now when it's been fine for the 2-3 months it's been working.
Ive been through 5 routers. All of them, except ONE has had a very annoying problem. The WiFi disconnects like anything randomly. The funny thing: The 4 that disconnect have all been working on 802.11n 300mbps. The 802.11g DG834Gv5 is as solid as a rock, maintaining connection for months on end, no wireless dropouts. Ive tried fiddling with the 4 routers (DGN2200, DG834N, Belkin N1 Vision, and another one ive forgotten), putting them onto 54mbps, which always works perfectley. When its on 145mbps or 300, they disconnect. No pattern, just fall off. When reconnecting, I can see them in the network selection thingy, but it just gives me the error 'Cannot connect to XXXX', only solution is to turn off the wireless radio and turn it back on via router interface.
I have had my DIR-825 for a year and half. My computer that is wired directly to the router keeps losing the connection to the router - unable to obtain an address. All of my other devices (that are connected via wireless) still hold the connection with no issues. I've checked the cable, unplugged/plugged back into the router, and it shows connection on the network card on the back of the computer.I have used the system interface to ensure the address is a valid one. I have powered up and down the computer multiple times and have also powered down and up both the router and the cable modem.
I have 1 WLC AIR-CT5008-K9 version 7.0.98.0. with iPads connected to a WLAN with [(WPA+WPA2)(AuthPSK)].and have constant disconnections. But the Laptops do not have problems.
at our office we've recently upgrade from a old consumer-grade linksys wag200g modem/router/ap to the Cisco SRP527w. The Cisco is suffering from very frequent ADSL disconnections. These disconnections happens when there is some traffic to the internet and they seem to don't affect the LAN routing: on the weekends there are no disconnections at all while during the working hours there may be disconnections every FEW MINUTES making this router unusable. Often these disconnections force us to do a full reboot of the router.
Firmare version is SRP520W-1.1.19, the latest. ADSL line is a 6Mbps/640kbps. Noise margin is about 11dB for downstream and 20dB for upstream. No voice line is used and therefore they are both disabled. 2 wireless network are active. The old linksys was (and is) working correctly, no adsl disconnections at all. Never.
For whatever reason, as of Tuesday afternoon my laptop can no longer connect to wired internet. I am a college student (NYU), so I cannot access a modem or router myself. I have tried:
-Plugging my cord into another jack in my dorm room
-Using my roommate's ethernet cord
-Taking my cord and laptop to different areas on campus (library, other dorms, etc) that use different wired networks, and attempted connection there Worth noting is that I can still connect to wireless internet just fine (however, my dorm does not have wireless, making things very difficult for me).My ethernet adapter is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. It was just updated today, in hopes that maybe it was a driver issue (Prior, it was a Realtek 8168C/8111C, whatever that means). All drivers have green checks next to them and appear to be working. Here is my IPConfig info:
I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3. My laptop is a custom-built CyberPower PC. I have done a Malwarebytes Scan,SuperAntiSpyware Scan, and Avast Anti-Virus scan, and have turned up no malware or viruses.
I'm not the sole user of this computer, I woke up a few hours ago and my roommate tells me that the internet suddenly slowed down to a ridiculous speed, we haven't come close to exceeding the data usage from our provider. We use DSL broadband, not wireless. Some pages partially load, some pages do not load at all and some load completely but after a really long time. When I open a youtube vid a fraction of it loads before it stops, then when I click to skip a bit of the video the same problem happens (but sometimes the video completely loads...). I only use chrome but the speed is the same on IE and firefox as well.
Maybe a year or two ago, a computer guy installed all the antivirus things and programs necessary when we previously had problems. Not sure what it is....but an ESET Nod32 frame thing appears every time the computer starts for a few seconds so i assume (?) that this is our antivirus. Again, pretty much retarded computer-wise here haha. I find ESET nod32 in the start bar to see if maybe i can click it or run a scan or something but after I click it nothing happens at all....Not sure how relevant this is but this is the system info recommended by this website:
Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2 OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3, 32 bit Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00GHz, x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 13 Processor Count: 2 RAM: 1917 Mb Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7050 / NVIDIA nForce 610i, 512 Mb Hard Drives: C: Total - 76308 MB, Free - 27433 MB; Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd., GA-73VM-S2 Antivirus: None
A couple days ago my gateway nv53 running windows 7 suddenly shut down not too long after a virus was found, upon restarting the Internet is no longer connecting and saying it is connected with "limited access". My iPhone, Xbox, and other devices in my apartment still function normally and only my computer is not connecting.
I have a Belkin N+ Wireless Router (F5D8235-4) and the loading times when I'm on the Internet is slow, it used to fast. I've tried using Firefox, Chrome, Opera but the loading is slow on every browser, I've also tried on different computers but still the same thing.[code]
I normally have fairly speedy cable internet (12 MBPS) and it has never caused me any issues in the past. My ISP is a company called Ygnition (not the best). My problem is as follows: I was using my internet on Tuesday to play an online game (SW:TOR) and I walked away from my computer for about 30 minutes, and when I returned I had been disconnected from the game and the internet appeared to be non-functional. I've now discovered that the internet IS CONNECTED but it is INCREDIBLY slow. It takes at least ten minutes to load the google homepage and websites like speedtest.net are unusable. I obviously cannot use the internet with any efficiency, much less log into an online game.
my Internet has been acting up lately, generally I get download speeds of 1 mB/s but now I barely even get past 50 kB/s. Also whenever I attempt to download something I get large amounts of ping (500-900).
It was monday night when it started playing up. I literally have had it right now. To watch a simple 1 minute long video on youtube I will have to wait about 10 minutes before it is fully loaded. It takes about a minute to load an internet page and it is not just my computer, it is also happening on all other wireless devices and wired (3 laptops, 4 phones, ipad, ipos etc.)
So Today, a few hours ago i decided i was going to clean things up a bit on the computer, so i ran raxco perfectdisk defragger, disk cleanup, ccleaner/ccleaner registry fix a couple of times and windows defrag. So after that, the computer was running amazingly fast, but the internet was suddenly really slow, and youtube videos especially are taking a very long staggering time to load up, when usually my internet connection is average, i have unlimited downloads on my contract so it cant be that and its the temporary internet files and cache either, just cleared it all.
2 days ago I turned on my pc, went off to the internet and boom. It's slow. I thought that maybe its about my provider. No it's still slow. Weirdest thing is that my torrent dl speed is still about 100kbps. But when i want to download something with my browser(s), speed is just about 20kbps. And surfing on the internet is slow too. I'm using windows 7 32-bit. And i use wired connection. And since I have XP installed aswell, I tried the internet there. I was having no problems with it there. But I use win 7 and I need this problem fixed. I have even scanned my pc for viruses. Nothing.
I upgraded to the new FW today 2.07 and everything seemed fine. Then suddenly i lost my internet connection. I can connect through the modem ok. Cables are ok. I am using my desktop with a wired connection. The 'world' light is not on
I have setup the existing wifi router (couple of years ago) so do have the basic networking knowledge but am not up-to-speed with all the latest developments in the industry2. ISP have provided a '******' ADSL modem that i need to connect to get this whole netwrok working. its only supports ethernet connections - (i live in a third world country)3. I have installed a TP-link Wifi router (WR841Nd). The modem on stand-alone basis is fairly decent, covers decent range on ground floor (my house is fairly big and is double story building) but with few dead spots. It supports N series so speed is quite good as long as one is within range.
Problemi have been living with it for couple of years but since recently i have been experiencing a lot of drop-outs/random disconnections and slow speed. I have tested my wifi router at friend's place and it showed no signs of problems so it has to be my ADSL modem (phone line is fine, though i am not close to exchange but that is not an issues as my neighbours are using the same phone line/ISP and they dont have an issue)another problem i have is the coverage, my current wifi only covers the ground floor and i would like to extend this to upper portione am looking to change my ISP provided ADSL modem. The problem is i dont know if i buy an ADSL modem off amazon and whether it would work or not because the setup is not straight forward and the ISP staff is corrupt. They dont provide with quality hardware neither do they have technical competence so i literally have to beg them at time to at least come and see the problem.Question1: ISP provided ADSL modem replacementi know the settings for ISP modem so i can search how i can replicate the same with Billion but can this work?Question2: RAnge ExtenderI am thinking of buying couple of powerline wireless extenders from netgear.
this had happened for a few months and i did not really mind until the disconnections worsen. usually when i power on the router and started using the internet, it will disconnect randomly once. my wireless SSID will disappear and lost connection. and no matter how i refresh the SSID still won't broadcast.
the only way to get back internet access is to re-power on the router, so the SSID will be broadcasted again.
my wrt54g2 V1 router had recently upgrade to the latest firmware version,1.0.04. but still disconnects as usual. however the disconnections only happens once, after u re-power on the router, you will not disconnect again.
but after turning off my laptop, and use it again after few hours, the same thing will happen again, a random disconnection and got to re-power on the router.
- Small Home-Office network based on a Cisco WRV210 VPN Router connected to another WRV210 in a remote location. - The WRV210 provides 2 WAP-protected SSIDs, one for the office network and one for visitors - Wireless channel is set 5 channels away of the closest networks (using inSSIDer) - There are about 12 wireless devices, 4 connected to the office network the rest to visitors. Not all devices are connected at the time of failure. All wireless devices use DHCP which is set to last 1 day and provide 100 IPs. - The wireless devices are 1 desktop, 3 notebooks (all clean), iPads, iTouch and Nook. - The failure symptom is that almost daily, and most likely around the same time, no wireless device can connect to any of the SSIDs unless the router is power-cycled. During the failures, which we have witnessed first hand, there are no apparent reasons: no new SSIDs, now SSID in close range on the same channels, nothing we can easily observed in the network in terms of connections or unusual activity. - A weirdo also presented by the WRV210 was that its web pages were shown erratically. That was corrected by downgrading the firmware from the latest to previous version.
We have used a loaner Linksys router WRT54GC with only the visitor Network on it and even though the situation is not as frequent, it has happened already a couple of times. The WRV210 is out of warranty and discontinued, so we get no support from Cisco that is worth paying for.
I think the built-in wi-fi of my laptop was destroyed so I connected a usb device that enables me to use wi-fi. Now, I tried to use internet, I was connected however connection was slow plus after a few minutes when I open another window it won't just connect. The window shows a blank page and on the tab it says untitled. I don't know what's the problem and what should I do to fix it.
I'm currently in a University dorm room connected, via ethernet, to a splitter in our room. Starting just yesterday, my usually amazing internet speeds tanked to about 8 kb/s, and have stayed there since then. My roommate, also using ethernet, is having no problems. You'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject, I just hope I'm not completely clueless:
I first did the obvious checks, made sure cables were connected and secure, restarted our splitter as well as my desktop, disconnected and reconnected to the University Network, I even attempted to connect to wireless to make sure the problem still existed, and it did. ~8 KB/s download speed.I made sure I have, to the best of my knowledge, no background programs running that may be stealing bandwidth.I checked to make sure it wasn't only affecting my preferred internet browser, and programs like IE and Firefox showed similar, if not worse, results.I tried recovering to a few days ago when I believe the problem didn't exist, and the problem still existed.I ran through my programs list and made sure nothing was installed recently that could hinder performance.I ran a complete scan through McAfee, which produced no results. To double check, I downloaded (slowly) and ran SpyBot, which produced a few errors, but I quickly "fix"ed them and restarted my computer, ran another scan, and now nothing.
I am having a weird problem with one of my network PC's. I admin a small network which I inherited at work but am a novice when its comes to networking hardware. One of the PC's suddenly stopped connecting to the internet on Fri night, as the cables have all been run through the roof I went through every cable on the D-Link 10/100 ethernet switch and could not get it to connect. Connection wizard showed it was sending packets whenever I tried to ping but recieved 0.
