I moved to a new place, with a new internet provider (a dorm, so it's all public). In my old place, my PC worked fine (Windows XP), but now it fails to connect to any of the Browsers. My laptop (Windows 7) is fine though with the same cable. No problems at all.
View 9 RepliesI've had problems with my net connection at home, Skype is working; at least just for IM, i haven't tried phone / web cam functions, but nothing else will, Firefox / IE can't load any pages, Live Messenger won't sign in, etc etc. I've had a few phone calls with my ISP who ended up running a line test and they insist that everything there end is fine.

Can connect to skype on wireless laptop but not internet.Just says that a problem has caused the program to stop and will notifu you if a solution is available.It shows that the computer has both local and internet access.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem with my home network that I'm unable to fix:I have 2 laptops (Lenovo and HP) both connect to the wireless network and show up as Local & Internet connected on the Windows 7 OS. Both can ping to an outside network with domain names but no pages open on the browser. There's no error displayed on the browser, the page just tries to keep loading. When I connect both these laptops over the wire, I'm able to browse through all pages easily. I also have 2 phones connected to the same wireless network and I can browse over internet without any problems.

She has an emachine with windows 7 that won't browse the internet even though it appears to be connected. The internet works fine in safe mode. She didn't have any antivirus software (in fact, she doesn't have that many programs at all) so I downloaded malware bytes and the scan came back clean.She has Hughesnet (the satellite people) as her ISP and she says that the problem started after they upgraded her modem.I'm a bit stumped as to what the problem could be, since all the google searches I did on the topic seemed to be some kind of problem with antivirus software (having two conflicting, or some kind of wonky settings) or a virus, neither of which seems to be the case.

I was having internet problems pior to this happening (internet was being very slow and some web pages and some videos wouldn't load. I think the latter had to do with flash player though.) I had also been doing some stupid stuff on my comp that I know can give you viruses. Furthermore I also knew that due to previous virus's I was not able to do a restore. So as you have probably gathered my computer was pretty buggered even before this problem. So decided to restore to factory default using some backup images I made when I first got the comp. That went smoothly however the internet stilll doesn't work unless I plus it in using a ethernet cable.

Then today, I haven't gotten a response from any websites; there is just an infinite blank loading screen. I use Google Chrome, and tried switching to the already installed Internet Explorer but my my results were the same. I have been able to make calls on Skype without issue and even downloaded a game from the Microsoft store since the issue started. I am also using the wifi with my phone to post this, so I know it's not a connection issue. Everything using the Internet is working fine, just not the browsers. I am running Windows 8 with Kapersky Internet security (which has never given me an issue). I, also, scanned the computer and manually searched it for any signs of viruses or malware to the best of my ability and found nothing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a small issue wherein my pc would lose ALL network connection to my pc, but the network icon showed that i had full signal, no issues. as long as i sign in on skype before the internet drops, it will stay on after it drops and i can still chat and everything, and to fix, i had to restart my pc. well, it had gotten better.And now its back, and WAY worse then before. skype doesnt have time to sign in upon bootup, and wont connect. steam wont connect, NOTHING will conect, but i still show full signal and no yellow mark or anything! I have done the following:

reinstall drivers
move wifi adapter
disable IPv6

and no, i am not able to reinstall windows. I am going to try (soon, i am not able to just yet) direct ethernet to my router. all other PCs in the house are working perfectly, even this one that is slow as crap because it has windows 7 and is designed for windows XP.
