DSL 2780 Router Works But Internet Can't Connect

I've just got my first ever router from talktalk, DSL 2780 which works fine but I still can't connect to the internet. I called the helpline and they checked my broadband connection is working fine and all the cables are correctly connected. Then she got me to open Internet Explorer and type in 192.168.1.1 but it brought up a page saying that it couldn't be displayed and there was no internet connection, so she told me to make sure the Work Offline option wasn't ticked and did something else in Tools Internet Options and then typed those numbers again but it still didn't work.

my computer just randomly stopped connecting to the intenet. I checked my other computers and phone and found they were all working fine. I was having internet problems pior to this happening (internet was being very slow and some web pages and some videos wouldn't load. I think the latter had to do with flash player though.) I had also been doing some stupid stuff on my comp that I know can give you viruses. Furthermore I also knew that due to previous virus's I was not able to do a restore. So as you have probably gathered my computer was pretty buggered even before this problem. So decided to restore to factory default using some backup images I made when I first got the comp. That went smoothly however the internet stilll doesn't work unless I plus it in using a ethernet cable.

I moved to a new place, with a new internet provider (a dorm, so it's all public). In my old place, my PC worked fine (Windows XP), but now it fails to connect to any of the Browsers. My laptop (Windows 7) is fine though with the same cable. No problems at all.

Cold start it will not connect to internet but the other computers I have do so I know it's not an internet connection issue.
Network Diagnosis fails to find anything nor does it make an internet connection. I only seem to make a connection on restart.

I have an Acer Aspire 5315 running windows vista home basic, version 6002.For some time i have not been able to join wireless networks, but used a long ethernet cable to my room in shared house. yesterday we got a new router and have had to use it wirelessly. it is a talk talk D-Link DSL 2780, and al other housemates are on wirelessly. mine links up (sometimes) but says local only or limited connectivity - both of which mean i cannot connect to the net wirelessly.

In my hotel, it is currently running a free internet, through ethernet port/cat5 wire When i plug the wire into my port, the internet works fine, as i am sending this message now, However, when i plug the cable into my router, and i try to connect to the internet, it gives this message through chrome Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS I'm currently running through the google free dns, i've cloned my mac address direct connect works, however router does not.
IPConfig Logs, direct connected to the internet through wire and connected to the router.

I have a Gateway desktop computer easily connected to an internet providing modem from Comcast. I have tried to set up a wireless router so that I can connect my Sony laptop, but have not succeeded. The laptop has a built in wireless device that easily connects to other wireless routers such as the one in my parent's house or my sister's house, just not the one in my own place.Connecting the laptop to the wireless router seems to be accomplished. The laptop says it has been connected and signal strength is "very good" but web browsers are unable to connect to the internet. I have tried three separate web browsers (firefox, internet explorer, and google chrome) and still nothing.The router seems to be working fine. It is a netgear N150. Power is on and the desktop, connected through the router, and then into the modem, connects just fine. This tells me internet connection is alright through the modem, right? I have tried numerous times to turn off the power and wait, then try connecting again and have not succeeded. I have done this at both the modem and the router.
I have gone into the laptop's ip settings and have marked the ip and dns addresses to automatically receive. I believe a great deal of the problem is that the laptop is not receiving any wireless bytes being sent out. I've seen the sent bytes between 84 and 378 (is this low?) but nothing is received. If I could figure this part out I feel I'd know what's wrong. The IPv4 IP address is 192.168.1.3The IPv4 Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0The IPv4 default gateway is 192.168.1.1The ipv4 DHCP server and DNS server read the same number as the default gateway.Not that I know much about these numbers. Every time the problem is encountered I strike the "diagnose" tab but to no avail, as though the laptop refuses to even try to diagnose. The inet was working through the router (we get it off our neighbours), now our neighbour is our grandad and he doesnt use the internet (his daughters do but they left home). So we decided to take the router around to our house because the signal would always be very weak in our house (but it worked.) So we connected an ethernet cable, that goes through the roof of both houses attics and into my room, and plugged the router in there. back in the other house, the wire is going into the modem.
So we have the modem in one house, with a big wire going to my house into the router. We turn it on and it works, for like 3 seconds then suddenly, we get the message "No internet access" and "limited internet access" on our XP and windows 7 laptops. On the windows 7 it shows a small yellow triangle symbol with an exclamation mark on the bars too.So I tried turning off firewall, and resetting router and all that, plugging it into modem (which I'm doing now) and have narrowed it down to something to do with the routers settings, because it works fine through the modem. and its nothing to do with the router being in the other house because we even brough the router back and its doing the same thing.I dont understand why something would go wrong just by unplugging the router because nothing was changed. Anyway I tried johnwills steps and here are my results from both my XP and windows 7,

I'm inclined to think this is a bad router but just wanted to run it by everyone. All of a sudden I can't get into the router interface or ping it, but the internet still works. If I power cycle the router, then I can get back into it.

we hadn't have the WEP key on our Linksys wireless router, so we decided, about a month ago, that it was a good idea to lock our wireless connection. So we did. For a couple of weeks, everything worked just fine.But then we bought a new printer, which happened to be a wireless network printer, and in the process of installing it, we mistook the reset button (I think) on the router for some other button and ended up resetting the router. When we did that, we undid WEP key, thereby unlocking the router. Then, we locked the router again, at which point one of our computers--which happens to be mine--ended up not working. All other computers and phones and iPads work just fine, but this one laptop of mine just doesn't work (with respect to wireless internet connections, of course).
- pressing the reset button on the router again. It kind of works. The internet works for about five or ten minutes (which is unbearably annoying because I have to reconnect it every five minutes), but my computer somehow disconnects itself from the internet connection. Also, although the internet technically "works," the wireless network icon thing on the bottom right of the screen has an "X" on it, which I thought meant the internet is not working, but it apparently doesn't, because my internet is working now. And, if I click the icon, it says that I'm not connected, but, again, the internet works. (for about 5~10 minutes, if I unlock the router)
- changing the internet protocol information (I don't think it does anything, but.)
- changing the wireless internet connection property to WPA, WPA-PSK... everything.
*All computers in the house have wireless internet connections but mine.
*When I reset the router, the internet works, although the computer says it isn't connected, and it disconnects itself every 5 or 10 minutes.

I have my internet coming from my DSL modem (of course) and running into my wireless router. Once it is in the router I can't get a connection, period. Not even through any of my router's ethernet ports. This wasn't the case until about 3 o'clock yesterday. If I unplug the cable from my wireless router and plug it directly into my computer it runs fine. If I run it through my Micro-Cell tower and into my computer it runs fine. But if I plug it into a router it won't work through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. I have tested the connections of all the ethernet cables I am using. Figuring it had to be a problem with my router (since it was working earlier and the connection only disappears when plugged into it) so I bought another, same problem. What else could it be? PS: I'm using both a MacBook Bro, a PC, a PS3, and a Nintendo 3DS and none get a signal from the wifi. I always keep the PC hardwired through the ethernet ports on the router and use the wireless for everything else

I've been using the Linksys router e1000 N type for a week now and it hasn't beeen such a great experience. The thing is when i connect the modem to my laptop via ethernet cable internet works but not when i connect the cable to the router even though this worked before. actually a few hours before. so i dont know whats happened to my router since clearly the problem is in there. the modem has lights for PC Cable DATA and POWER. The lights to all of them blink when i have connected the modem directly to laptop but the PC light is non existent when i connect it to router. hence i get no internet access. the routers power is on so i dont know what the prob is ive rebooted it a few times but to no avail.

We have FIOS at our home. All the wall connections for ethernet are wired to the control panel in our house which are then connected to a wired router. We have another wireless router in the upstairs which gets internet through the wall port and it works fine.We had another downstairs wireless router in the living room that was working fine as well, but I reset it for certain reasons and it no longer works properly. All the proper lights light up: internet, port, power but the computer can only connect to the network and not the internet for some reason.

Model wrt54gsWindows xpI got the wireless network setup and password protected and my computer and phone can sign o the wireless network, but when I try to go to a website it doesn't work. If I connect te computer directly to the modem then it works.

Connecting with a LAN cable to the router works 100%, and I can get access to the router's IP-address, but when trying to connect to wireless, it asks for the WPA key, and I fill it in, but then gives an error saying "Can't connect to wireless network: *network name here*" (This is translated from Dutch to English, so it might be a bit different on an English computer).

I can't seem to connect to the internet via the Ethernet port on my laptop, but the built-in Wi-Fi card works perfectly fine. I normally use Wi-Fi, as our signal is very strong, even if I go outside and up the road, I can still connect.
My issue is that although I don't need it, I'd like to setup Ethernet for the first time since installing Windows 7. I've had Windows 7 since April 2011, and prior to that I used Windows Vista. From memory, I don't think Vista had any problems with connecting via Ethernet back before I moved house, but this was over two years ago.
My laptop is an ASUS X58L, and the NIC identified by Device Manager, is a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC. Going into the properties, I can see that I have the latest Windows 7 driver installed - 6.111.723.2009, however prior to this I had the driver that came with the machine (when it was running Vista), which was 6.108.331.2008 and tried updating from Device Manager, but for some reason it said that I had the best driver already installed. To install the 2009 Windows 7 driver, I had to manually download it from Realtek. With either of the drivers, connecting via Ethernet doesn't work, and I'm confused as to what to do next.

A few days ago i tried logging onto to League of Legends, and my net disconnected. Thinking nothing of it, i reset the router and tried again, to no avail. Then for the last few days i can't get on skype, LoL, or any other program that uses the internet. I can get onto websites and such( using firefox) except i can not load youtube videos, otherwise my internet disconnects for a minute or so.

I am having trouble connecting to the internet, but not my network, when I assign a static IP to my machine. However, when it's set to DHCP, it works just fine.
Pertinent info:
-I'm connecting to a Linksys WRT610N router via a wireless USB adaptor, Netgear WNDA3100v2;
-Service is Time Warner Roadrunner cable;
-There is no IP conflict as I've got DHCP range set from .200-.249 and this machine's static is .100;
-All the other devices in the house are on static starting with .101 up and they all work fine, both wired and wirelessly;
-Can see and connect to all devices in the LAN, including the router, but nothing outside

I called my provider and they said my connection is fine, they mentioned not using a USB cable but when I take it out my wifi won't work on my iPad. My pc keeps saying not connected to the internet. I have a HP G60-530US and i use Mozilla Firefox. My computer had froze up and i had to restart it. My wifi is working but it keeps sending me firefox cant find the server at... message. It said that the firewall or proxy could be doing it but i cant find a problem with it. My computer had just updated so i dont know if that could be the issue. My other computer is working just fine so i know its not the router. My computer has done with before but i cant remember how i fix it and if im not mistaken my computer had updated when it happen the last time, but im not 100% sure.

I was using firefox this morning and my desktop suddenly just stopped connecting to the internet. I unplugged the ethernet cord and tried it on my laptop and it connects to the internet fine using the same ethernet cord. I have on-campus internet, so there is no router or anything for me to try resetting. I tried the windows 7 troubleshooter and it said to reset the router, but there is no router to resetOn the non-connecting computer, I can ping the IP address and the default gateway address, but not the DNS servers or something like yahoo

I have tried everything to find out what is blocking my internet connection from working in regular mode for more than 30 seconds. My computer connects to my institute LAN.They provided us a configuration according which I configured TCP/IP v4 settings and firefox settings.All the webpages open smoothly but other internet realted services apart from firefox are not working eg Skype,Windows Update,Mu Torrent etc.The LAN connection says "No Internet access"(The sites are opening nicely though) and puts a yellow exclamation marks on the LAN symbol in system tray.

Internet works fine for a few minutes(around 2-5 usually), then it completely stops. It doesn't say it was disconnected, it just stops.Wireless has been working just fine the past few days.) We have used a desktop computer with this type of setup before and it worked just fine, that desktop was like a 2001 Dell that could barely stay on.
