I've got the Di-614+ connected to a Wimax system. The Wimax is plugged into one of the LAN jacks in the Di-614+ (i tried pluggin it into the WAN jack but it does not work). I'm able to use the internet fine without any problems using the wireless connection on my laptop.
The thing is the ip 192.168.1.1 is set to open up the setup page of my Wimax modem. I cant seem to access the setup page of my Di-614+. I tried disconnecting the Wimax jack, and still google chrome just responds with "This webpage is not available". My other option is to hard reset the wireless router. But i worry it will ask for a password and i wont know it.

The wireless laptops will remain connected to the router but the internet connection will fail. The laptop with Ethernet connection retains a very good connection so i'm thinking this is an issue with my router or it's configuration
View 1 Replies View RelatedSome time ago the mother-board ethernet card on my Dell Dimension 8400 failed, so I fitted a PCI card, and all was well: The failed card was Broadcom NetExtreme 57xx. The PCI one is Realtek RL8139. I got back onto the web, even though one of the (now two icons) in the system tray has a red cross, and all seemed well.
Recently I wanted to set up a home network with a wireless laptop, and though both machines seem to see each other I cannot connect the PC to the LAN to share files. The Ethernet icon in the tray has a red cross, and gives the pop-up "Not Connected - no connections are available". The Network and Sharing Centre will not let me connect, apparently because it thinks I am connected to a public network, which I cannot change to work or home. but it also has a red cross on the PC to Internet connection. If I run the troubleshooter, it cannot find and fix any problems. In the security settings app, I have set the radio buttons to be able to change the status of networks, and to rename them. If I try to connect from the laptop to the PC, I am asked for a network ID and password, but there is nowhere for me to set this up. I have a wireless dongle, but this gives the same symptoms. I am able to connect to a wireless printer (ethernet cable to router, then wireless to the printer).
I have tried many things, always making sure I have Administrator privileges. I don't know whether the problem is that the PC only sees the faulty modem, or is something to do with the public network status, which I have seen as a problem in many other posts, but none of the solutions have worked. I have uninstalled the faulty modem, but obviously cannot physically remove it, as it is part of the motherboard.

I thought i would clever and make an extension from my Virgin Superhub via Ethernet to a second pc that is currently using Wireless to improve speed.The amazing thing is the ethernet cable I made up actually seems to work but only when my wireless connection is on. If I disable my wireless to use just the ethernet I get no connection showing!If I click on properties it shows I am connected at 100mbps but I presume this is just the connection between the Hub and the pc although my Internet connection dialog also shows 100mbps.In the Services dialog I can add services which I presume would give me access.I have my ip address but do not know the name of the service I should be running (DCHP?) or the Port numbers.In addition to this there doesn't seem to be a network card appearing in device manager other than the wireless dongle.

But it only works as long it is connected via lan cable to my router. I accessed the set up (via ipaddress) and entered the router details to the setup but as soon I disconnect from lan it does not work anymore. What did I oversee.

MY ISP is AT&T. I have their Westell DSL modem, with a bridged connection to a Linksys wireless router. The router is connected via ethernet to a dead computer: a 7 year-old Dell desktop that will boot up but shut down right away. I have been able to connect multiple laptops wirelessly to this network. I thought an ethernet connection was required in a home network such as mine? The cable has been plugged into a dead computer for several months and frankly I'd like to get rid of the desktop. What exactly is the ethernet requirement - just to be plugged into a port? Could I theoretically just yank the ethernet card out of the desktop and use it instead of the whole dead system?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter much troubleshooting to connect and stream content from my desktop to my blu-ray player, it only works if my laptop is also connected to the network. I use a Belkin N150 F9K1001v1. I cannot for the life of me figure out why it will stream just fine as long as my laptop is running as well. I am confused if this is an issue with the router or with Windows7 Homegroup (though other share options proved unfruitful).
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have a Westell 7500 Modem/Router with Century Link DSL. I've been running a couple of laptops and my wifi enabled TV on the wireless. A few days ago I got a new desktop PC (Windows 7) and plugged the ethernet cable into it. Everything was great but the wireless was a bit slow for the TV so I plugged that in with an ethernet cable too. No problems for a few days. Today, we had a power blip and everything reset and I noticed that the internet light on the modem was solid red and I couldn't access the internet on any machine (ethernet or wifi). I called the ISP who said there was an outage in the area. A few hours later, solid green light on the modem BUT the TV (ethernet connected), my iphone, and my laptops could NOT connect, despite the network showing up with a full signal. Oddly, my new PC, connected via ethernet was fine so I played some Diablo (side note). Here's the deal: the new PC connects just fine but nothing else will. If I unplug the ethernet cable to the PC or disable the LAN connection, the red internet light appears on the modem. It seems as though the PC has hijacked the modem in some way. Even the TV won't connect with the ethernet cable. The only way the internet works now is if the modem is connected to the new PC. I've done all the resents - unplugged the modem and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, accessed the router settings, etc etc. Why would this start happening now after everything was working well for several days and how do I fix it? I need the wifi connection! Update: Plugged my Macbook Pro into the ethernet cable (took it out of new PC) and it works.

My wifi is working but it keeps sending me firefox cant find the server at... message. It said that the firewall or proxy could be doing it but i cant find a problem with it. My computer had just updated so i dont know if that could be the issue. My other computer is working just fine so i know its not the router. My computer has done with before but i cant remember how i fix it and if im not mistaken my computer had updated when it happen the last time, but im not 100% sure.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe inet was working through the router (we get it off our neighbours), now our neighbour is our grandad and he doesnt use the internet (his daughters do but they left home). So we decided to take the router around to our house because the signal would always be very weak in our house (but it worked.) So we connected an ethernet cable, that goes through the roof of both houses attics and into my room, and plugged the router in there. back in the other house, the wire is going into the modem.
So we have the modem in one house, with a big wire going to my house into the router. We turn it on and it works, for like 3 seconds then suddenly, we get the message "No internet access" and "limited internet access" on our XP and windows 7 laptops. On the windows 7 it shows a small yellow triangle symbol with an exclamation mark on the bars too.So I tried turning off firewall, and resetting router and all that, plugging it into modem (which I'm doing now) and have narrowed it down to something to do with the routers settings, because it works fine through the modem. and its nothing to do with the router being in the other house because we even brough the router back and its doing the same thing.I dont understand why something would go wrong just by unplugging the router because nothing was changed. I called the helpline and they checked my broadband connection is working fine and all the cables are correctly connected.Then she got me to open Internet Explorer and type in 192.168.1.1 but it brought up a page saying that it couldn't be displayed and there was no internet connection, so she told me to make sure the Work Offline option wasn't ticked and did something else in Tools Internet Options and then typed those numbers again but it still didn't work.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwe hadn't have the WEP key on our Linksys wireless router, so we decided, about a month ago, that it was a good idea to lock our wireless connection. So we did. For a couple of weeks, everything worked just fine.But then we bought a new printer, which happened to be a wireless network printer, and in the process of installing it, we mistook the reset button (I think) on the router for some other button and ended up resetting the router. When we did that, we undid WEP key, thereby unlocking the router. Then, we locked the router again, at which point one of our computers--which happens to be mine--ended up not working. All other computers and phones and iPads work just fine, but this one laptop of mine just doesn't work (with respect to wireless internet connections, of course).
- pressing the reset button on the router again. It kind of works. The internet works for about five or ten minutes (which is unbearably annoying because I have to reconnect it every five minutes), but my computer somehow disconnects itself from the internet connection. Also, although the internet technically "works," the wireless network icon thing on the bottom right of the screen has an "X" on it, which I thought meant the internet is not working, but it apparently doesn't, because my internet is working now. And, if I click the icon, it says that I'm not connected, but, again, the internet works. (for about 5~10 minutes, if I unlock the router)
- changing the internet protocol information (I don't think it does anything, but.)
- changing the wireless internet connection property to WPA, WPA-PSK... everything.
*All computers in the house have wireless internet connections but mine.
*When I reset the router, the internet works, although the computer says it isn't connected, and it disconnects itself every 5 or 10 minutes.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy computer connects to my institute LAN.They provided us a configuration according which I configured TCP/IP v4 settings and firefox settings.All the webpages open smoothly but other internet realted services apart from firefox are not working eg Skype,Windows Update,Mu Torrent etc.The LAN connection says "No Internet access"(The sites are opening nicely though) and puts a yellow exclamation marks on the LAN symbol in system tray.

It doesn't say it was disconnected, it just stops.Wireless has been working just fine the past few days.) View 3 Replies View RelatedI have my internet coming from my DSL modem (of course) and running into my wireless router. Once it is in the router I can't get a connection, period. Not even through any of my router's ethernet ports. This wasn't the case until about 3 o'clock yesterday. If I unplug the cable from my wireless router and plug it directly into my computer it runs fine. If I run it through my Micro-Cell tower and into my computer it runs fine. But if I plug it into a router it won't work through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. I have tested the connections of all the ethernet cables I am using. Figuring it had to be a problem with my router (since it was working earlier and the connection only disappears when plugged into it) so I bought another, same problem. What else could it be? PS: I'm using both a MacBook Bro, a PC, a PS3, and a Nintendo 3DS and none get a signal from the wifi. I always keep the PC hardwired through the ethernet ports on the router and use the wireless for everything else

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I have 2 laptops, a win 7 and a win 8,The windows 7 laptop works on the internet fine, but the windows 8 one always disconnects, even when the win 7 isn't on.It disconnects usually when I'm running multiple programs that use the internet on it, but when I run a game like counter-strike, it disconnects too, but not nearly as often.The router is from 2008 or 2009, but it's a tiny aztech one. I'm sure it's not the isp, because like I said, the other laptop works fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday I picked up a laptop of a friend of mine which had some problems with the Internet connectivity. Turns out, Internet only works when booted in Safe Mode, however, it does ping in Normal Mode so there is connectivity. Tried IE and Firefox, both do not work in Normal Mode and do work in Safe Mode. MSN Messenger won't work in Normal Mode either. After carefully checking the Windows event logs, it looks like some services are not booted in normal mode.I have executed the following steps and measures in order for me to see if I would be able to fix the problem myself.
1) Boot in Normal Mode:
- Checked the settings of the adapter, no exclamation marks or other problems.
- Installed Revo Uninstaller Pro > Uninstalled all present antivirus program
- Installed Microsoft Security Essentials
- Ran a Full scan with Microsoft Securty Essentials; 1 virus > removed (just a virus which gives pop-ups)
- Installed CC Cleaner, cleaned the whole system
- Shut off all antivirus programs, IE and Firefox still not working.
2) Looked for extra information:cmd > Ipconfig/all Normal Mode [code]
