At random times the network cable is apparently unplugged but then it reconnects and then I cant receive anything.I disconnect the LAN then reconnect and then it works again. This is on a winXp computer.

I unplugged the ethernet cord and tried it on my laptop and it connects to the internet fine using the same ethernet cord. I have on-campus internet, so there is no router or anything for me to try resetting. View 1 Replies View RelatedJust finished building my new computer yesterday - i installed windows 7 and all the motherboard drivers etc - everything went smoothly. I then plugged in my ethernet cable but saw that in normal mode my computer had very slow internet. I went into safe mode with networking and tried the internet there and it was its normal speed. Obviously something is booting up in normal mode that is stopping/limiting the connection. I uninstalled norton (came with the motherboard drivers) using the uninstall norton tool, i also uninstalled any other virus protection and disabled my computers firewall but to no avail - it's still real slow.

Both computers are connected to the router, as well as I've got no problems sharing files to my PS3 via media servers. But connecting the two computers is impossible. I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried connecting the two both using Homegroup services, and in the old fashion way, without the Homegroup service, using only IPv4.It seems like firewall settings and sharing in general works ok, but making it work over WLAN is very troublesome.

She has an emachine with windows 7 that won't browse the internet even though it appears to be connected. The internet works fine in safe mode. She didn't have any antivirus software (in fact, she doesn't have that many programs at all) so I downloaded malware bytes and the scan came back clean.She has Hughesnet (the satellite people) as her ISP and she says that the problem started after they upgraded her modem.I'm a bit stumped as to what the problem could be, since all the google searches I did on the topic seemed to be some kind of problem with antivirus software (having two conflicting, or some kind of wonky settings) or a virus, neither of which seems to be the case.

We have another wireless router in the upstairs which gets internet through the wall port and it works fine.We had another downstairs wireless router in the living room that was working fine as well, but I reset it for certain reasons and it no longer works properly. My internet suddenly disappeared, as in, it doesn't work anymore. I'm not sure as to when it disappeared due to my personal absence, but from what I heard it was either during 'starting a game' or 'installing firefox add-ons updates'. Internet does work on other computers sharing the same internet (wired and wireless). I have a windows 7 computer that was connected wirelessly to my router and internet worked fine. One day i woke up and the internet would not work. The computer is still connected to the router but no internet access.There are other computers on the network that connect fine.I have also tried connecting my computer directly to the modem and still no internet.Running windows diagnositc tells me there is no default gateway available. Ive cycled the modem and router probably a million times and even taking the pc to another house to try on a different router and still no go.

I have an old computer that is Windows 98SE. It uses a dial-up connection, but I don't have a phone line anymore so I've been trying to find another way to connect it to the internet. The internet connection on my old computer has always been fine; all cables are connected correctly. However, this computer from work will not connect to the internet. The icon in the bottom right corner of the screen states that I am connected, but the internet browser claims that it is unable to display web pages. May the cause of this be related to any unique computer settings that a workplace may have on a computer in their network? Other computers have no problem connecting to the internet through the same, wired connection. The OS is Windows XP Professional.
