May 29, 2012I Have a problem with Internet connections. My laptOp will connect to Skype but not to Internet explorer. No error message appears, it just struggles to load web page. Wireless works fine as my iPad connects easily.Have looked at previous postings on the site that looked similar and reset the ie tools section to default..Recently had norton security expire and have uninstalled all of norton program.Have just signed up to new online security package through my Internet provider called Homesafe.

Aug 28, 2011We have wireless internet and atm only have 1 computer using it and a laptop. The normal browsing works just fine. I play world of warcraft and I log on, select my toon, get to the loading screen, and it either loads all the way and disconnects or goes all the way except a little and then disconnects me. It use to log on but i couldn't swithc specs w/o dcing. Also i would have to log off of skype, log on, then get back on to skype or i wasn't going to be able to get on. I've noticed recently that when i log onto one of my 85's some of the green lights turn red on the modem? I have made all the ports for WoW with the firewalls so I know its not that.

It succesfully connects to a wireless network, I can see the name of it, but after connecting my laptop is displaying "Unidentified network", below the network name. Also, I don't have Internet access. In the task bar, my wireless icon has an exclamation mark, in a yellow triangle. I have tried to connect with another laptop at a wireless network my laptop can't connect and it worked for the other laptop. So, the problem is with my laptop, not with the network.

Nov 17, 2012I own a HP pavilion dv7 laptop and I'm having trouble connecting to my home connection. My laptop connects to other connections but my desktop PC and gaming console are connecting to the "broken" internet just fine so I'm assuming it's the laptop.
I've tried unplugging the modem/router for minutes, uninstalling/reinstalling the network adapter device ((It now keeps coming up as "unidentified network" instead of the original name for the connection; Should I be concerned??)), and even just stopped using the laptop for a few days to see if somehow that would fix it.
I've troubleshot it and it says theres a problem with my access point/router but I don't see how that's the problem if everything else is working fine. I've spent 3 hours looking into solutions to this problem and I've come accross that the router may not be giving the laptop an IP to connect too but I'm still not sure how to fix this issue or if it's another issue all together.

Jun 11, 2011Today after I restarted my laptop (Dell vostro 1400 running windows), I found that I can't open any pages or sites. My wireless utility icon tells me that my laptop is connected to my router, but neither of my browsers (chrome or firefox) will load anything. However, if I turn off my wireless (there's a switch that I can trigger) and try to load a page immediately after turning it back on, then a page will load, though anything after that will not. I'm positive that it's not my router or my internet because my computer and iPod touch connect perfectly fine, it's just my laptop will not.I thought that I might have accidentally gotten malware so I ran malwarebytes in safe mode and it found one Trojan, which I removed afterwards, though I don't remember what it's name or type was. I restarted my laptop afterwards hoping that removing the Trojan would work but I'm still having the same problem.

how to use a computer in the time before Windows, comfortable with using command prompt. Have fixed many issue over the years with old and crappy computers, through research. Not very familiar with wireless connections. Last week laptop started freezing on Windows load, going automatically to safe mode. If I restart the computer after loading in safe mode, Windows opens fine the second time. Have tried stopping all other programs from loading at start up. If I do a system restore, everything works fine for a few days, then starts freezing on Windows load again. When Window does load I get the application error: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150002) click ok to close. but can still log in to Windows. Also, When I plug my cell phone, via USB to computer it charges fine and can upload and download between the phone and laptop, however, if I connect a (USB) thumb drive I cannot open the folder, save to it or open from it. This is the issue I wish to fix first so I don't have to keep switching between my ancient and slow CPU and my Laptop trying to fix the above problem(s): Laptop recently stopped connecting to home WiFi (automatically or manually.) Ran troubleshooters, suggested I do a full power off the router and turn it back on. Did that still not connecting. Did a full power off of laptop and modem and router and restarted everything. Still doesn't work. Used manual Diagnostic tool and it fails the association test, suggests that I check the profile. I don't know much about wireless as I said, so I do not know what profile I need to check or where it is located.The laptop does connect sporadically to the internet at home, via WiFi, for a few minutes at a time on its own, according to the wireless network connections. During this time I see one of two messages in wireless network connections: Unidentified network or limited access. If I go into the network sharing centre it says I am connected to an unidentified public network and shows that this network is not connecting to the internet. If I use the manual diagnostic tool at this time it passes the association test but fails the ping test.
Distance from the router does not seem to make a difference.Often when it is disconnected I cannot even see my router in the list of available wireless network connections.I can connect wireless to the router from my phone and have had no problems even while the laptop is unable to connect and the old CPU I am currently on, which is a wired connection, has had no trouble either. Other things I tried:I've scanned for hardware changes in my network connections: none and tried updating my driver software: nothing to update all are enabled.

My brother use to have a desktop which he skyped 24/7 webcam and all, that didn't bother my gaming till he got a laptop. Now that hes on a laptop and only when using a laptop on wireless it makes my internet go crazy. I played wow and my ping was 110 once he got started in a webcam session it would fly up to 1000+ in ping. PS3 would lag to s---.
