View 4 RepliesNew E4200v2 router, latest 2.0.26 firmware. Reboots on its own <or> locks up and requires power recycle 3-4 times a day. More frequent if I attach a USB drive to USB port. Reset to factory, only using as a router (no USB drive, no printer sharing, no TimeMachine backups, etc.)Still locks up or reboots 3-4 times a day. I need a reliable router that does not reboot so often.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a E2500 router that until recently has been working fine, the router currently will reboot at random occasions. I have tried resetting the router to factory defaults to test if the firmware was an issue but both the factory default and the most recent firmware build(1.0.05 build 2) offered on the download support page. I have tried 2 different AC adapters to test power and two different Cat5 cables so hard ware wise everything is looking good. I am concerned that it may be an issue still with firmware or with the cooling fan and the unit may be overheating.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having a number of issues with performance on my DIR-655 with streaming media, internet connection being dropped and random reboots. Over the last couple of weeks it has been getting worse, to the point where I'm about to act out the printer scene from Office Space but with my DIR-655! It has been rebooting, completely killing WiFi networks and Internet Connection, almost every 20 minutes when I'm watching DivX over the network. The relevent information about my network is as follows:
-Hardware:
-D-Link DIR-655
-Hardware Version: A3 (US) , Firmware Version: 1.34NA
As an experiment I reconfigured the DSL-380T into PPPOE mode and set the DIR-655 into DHCP Client. This was over 2 hrs ago. So far - no random reboots, no jittering on the Media Center Extender playing videos, no internet drop outs..It seems to me that the DIR-655 doesn't cope well when it has to do the PPPOE network protocol as well as the routing, WiFi and other basic functionality that it should be able to cope with.I'll leave it running as it now is and report back later, but from the dramatic change in behavior I'm hoping that I've finally cracked my perf issues with the DIR-655.
This switch randomly reboots throughout the day. I checked the stacks info and reported it was using crashinfo_12 (report below). I have access to the switch throughout the day if more config info needs to exported.

my internet would just at random STOP for like 2-3 seconds then catch up with itself. I have 3 computers, 1 printer, a laptop and an xbox all setup on a NetGear N300 Router. the 3 computers and xbox are directly connected to the router. the printer and laptop are wireless.The Road Runner Modem is a CISCO Cable Modem DPC2100R2. Now when this random STOP happens... on programs like Teamspeak peoples voices cut out but then quickly catch up with themselves. On Black Ops PC and Xbox everyone freezes for a few seconds then catch up to themselves and I'll get a connection interrupted. I'd be asking friends around me to see if they got that "Connection Interrupted" and they say no. On Rock Band 3 I get randomly disconnected from the game with everyone asking what happened...When this STOP happens... my computer doesn't give me any error message like "Local Area Connection is unplugged" or anything like that. I've tried checking my CISCO modem's log and it shows no problems.Last week I swapped out the Road Runner Modem at their swap shops to see if that was the problem. Obviously it isn't. The Router I had before the NetGear did the same exact thing except it was a westell...I've tried directly connecting the modem to the computer and trying that to see if there was some kind of miscommunication between the router and the modem... same thing.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI got my new comcast connection and using CISCO DPC3008 cable modem and EA6500 Wifi Smart Router. Internet works fine and then suddently the internet goes away. Further investigation shows EA6500 Wifi router just reboots every few hours and then wifi devices don't reconnect like it used to do with previous routers.
View 6 Replies View RelatedCheck to see if there is a firmware upgrade and there is. Well I updated it with the newest and only one out there. I did the upgrade, said sucessful and now it will just random reboot or something........ every few minutes the power light starts flashing....... then all the light go out, then power flashes again and it comes back up. I have tried many times to reflash it with that new firmware but no avail. I wish I had the old firmware back because it was working fine till I did this upgrade.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an issue when I use Airplay through my iPhone4S, my router reboots after 30 secs or so. I have a WRT54G2 v1.5 and the receiver is a Pioneer VSX-1021-K.
However, when I used Airplay through itunes from my laptop, it works just fine. In addition, when I borrowed my neighbors router's(BELKIN) it was working fine also. So this lead me to believe that it's my router that is causing the issue.
So I have a WRT160N firmware v3.0 wired connection to my PC, and at least once a day my connection speed drops from 2mbs down to almost dial up speeds at 60kps. Just unplugging the router then plugging it back in seems to fix it every time. I've contacted my service provider and they say there's no issue on their end, and since I don't get this problem when I plug the modem directly to the PC I agree with them. I've done a factory reset and that didn't work. I've gone through the FAQ and can't find anything useful in there.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a synology DS411 and a ATV2.DS411 is always downloading from internet,normally the download' bandwidth of DS411 is around 2MB/s.In my old netgear 3800,i just need to active WMM and add a port OQS that the port connection DS411 is low.Then when I watch stream video from internet on my ATV2.I can see the DS411's bandwidth will be reduced automatic.I replaced 3800 with E4200v2 some days before,and I have done the same config ,turn WMM ,set ATV MAC to highest and DS411 MAC to lowest. But when I watch ATV2,DS411's bandwidth seems not be reduced,so I cant get the smooth video Its very bad.

I upgraded my E3000 to a new E4200 several months ago. I use an SSL VPN to connect to work which worked fine on 1.0.01 and 1.0.02 but I upgraded to 1.0.03 to fix an issue where the router constantly reboots when I stream Netflix or Hulu and now the router reboots with Netflix, Hulu AND the SSL VPN tunnel initiation.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've just confirmed that everytime I try to stream music from my MacBook Pro (iTunes) that is connected to my WiFi network using the 5GHz mode (channel width is Auto, channel: Auto (DFS)) to a couple Airport Express cubes are connected via the 2.4 GHz WiFi (channel width: Auto, channel: 10) the E4200 router reboots. When I set the MBP to use the 2.4 GHz mode I can stream music without causing the E4200 to reboot. The E4200 is running firmware 1.0.03.

Every now and then it will decide that 2 of my 3 computers will not be allowed to connect to the internet. and i will have to spend hours of resetting and rebooting computers to get it to work again.. only for the issue to start again a few hours later. I recently added the third computer but im not sure how that would be an issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a static IP on the ATA (Linksys PAP-2T) ...the router will only pick it up occasionally...most times it does not. The ATA is on and working (I can call in/out) but I can't see how the router can't find/see it. I have added the ATA to the DHCP reseve list but still nothing. I have the port fowarded for the ATA but when I go to canyouseeme.org it comes up as "Connection timed out"...becuase I think it can't see the ATA behind the Router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy ISP dynamicly assigns IP's so I have my New E4200V2 set up as Automatic Configuration DHCP. I want to be ablt to use a specific DNS server rather than the one issues by my ISP.No matter what values are in the Static DNS 1, 2 and 3 the router continues to pull a DNS from my ISp. My POS old D-link 615 was able to utilize a custom DNS server with no issues so surely ther emyst be a way to do the same on the E4200.

View 9 Replies View Related I am wondering what is the optimal way to set-up my E4200v2 and PLWK400 at home? I have several devices (laptops, tablets, phones) that connect on .11g and .11n.
My current set-up:
E4200v2: 5ghz - Wireless-N only (SSID home-n), 2.4ghz - Wireless-B/G only (SSID home-g)
PLWK400: SSID home-ext (separate part of the home)
I am using WPA2 Personal security if that makes a different. One question would it be "better" to have the same SSID for all 3 wireless settings (5ghz, 2.4ghz, and PLWK400)? Would the various devices know which frequency to switch to for best speed and range?
I tried to upgrade my router firmware to the latest 2.1.39.145204 (downloaded from cisco website) but seems like the upgrade didn't go well. I am unable to open the admin webpage. I can get to the login page on 192.168.1.1, after i enter the admin password the next page doesn't load. It keeps showing 'Waiting' at the center of the page forever.. I have tried to do the 30/30/30 reset to no avail, i tried to do tftp downgrade to older firmware version but the tftp boot doesn't even start. Is there any other way i can either fix the current firmware upgrade or downgrade it to the previous version?

Last night the e4200 crashed on me when I went to reset the router I noticed the CISCO light was blinking very slowly and I had no network connection. I power cycled the router and still no connection so I hit factory reset button. Nothing happened. Did a 30/30/30 reset nothing happened. At this point I have a 34 day old plastic brick on my desk and I'm back to using my old WRT160N. how to unbrick this router?
View 3 Replies View RelatedNo problem setting up the FTP server on the router. It's working perfectly from inside the LAN. But any attempt to access the built-in server from the WAN side is fruitless. I found that if I turn off the IP4 SPI on the router, I can suddenly connect to the built-in ftp server without issue from the Internet. If the SPI option is checked, its a no go.
Is this a bug? I can't imagine that it is intentionally set up such that you have to turn off the firewall in order to use the FTP function externally. At least it isn't mentioned anywhere I can find and it wouldn't seem logical.
New E4200v2 @ firmware 2.0.36. The FTP server will go offline about once every 24 hours. I can revive it by simply clicking on Save in Storage/Administration or FTP Server. I don't have to change anything, just click Save. How can I keep the FTP running?
"Disk" is a 16gb USB flash memory. Formated FAT32, 1 partition, 6 users besides Admin and Guest, 2 groups besides Admin and Guest.
