View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is the third series 300 switch I've configured, but have not run across this issue before. I've attached to the switch via the console port and even tried with the web interface but get the same results. Upon booting the switch asks for the default user ID and password, then it prompts to change the password. I do this and then go to configure the device with the new IP address, add a new user ID and password and VLAN. All changes seem to save as I get no errors. However, when the device is rebooted, all changes are lost. I've even went so far as to delete the startup-config file but still no luck. Version information is as follows:
SW Version: 1.0.0.27 (Date: 28-Apr-2010, Time: 13:33:55)
Boot Version: 1.0.0.4 (Date: 08-Apr-2010, Time: 16:37:57)
HW Version: V01

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought an ESW 540 8-port switch, mainly for the POE capability over all 8 ports, so that we can power some SPA50X phones. The concepts of a "managed" switch are challenging for a newbie. Is there a way to make this device behave like a boring "unmanaged" switch ??We have plenty of bandwidth, and don't need to be troubled by QoS and virtual LAN's, or all the security stuff at this time.Making this device work like an unmanaged switch (aka plug-and-pray).

I managed to get the site to site VPN up Via internet and from my network 192.168.1.x able to reach 192.168.2.x. -where 192.168.1.100 (user try to acces my FTP server 192.168.2.99) has no issues but it's slow due to my internet connection speed.
So i setup another link via wireless( wireless bridge ) purpose is to resolve slow connection via internet.

I'd like to enable client to router VPN connections. I have a question how to make any sucessful VPN connection to RV220W. From all the tests I made only SSL VPN on Windows XP x86 client machine was working.
For IPSec VPN I always receive this message: [rv220w][IKE] ERROR: Could not find configuration for XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX[500]. I tried with windows and shrewsoft vpn client.
Can't make SSL VPN to work in Windows 7 x64 client because the drivers are not digitally signed. It only works in Windows XP x86 but this is not acceptable. I need universal solution for win clients.
I also need working solution for Android Phone? Router firmware 1.0.3.5. I also tried this step by step guide. No go.
I am trying to create a bash script to log into routers and make config changes.I ran into a snag in that I am unable to pass a password for the ssh login.I tried tying an expect script to handle that piece but was unsuccessful.I saw on google something about public/private ssh keys (not the same type used to ssh into the box) but I do not want to go this route. Can this be done in another language other than a bash script?I would like to avoid TCL or EEM if possible, I want to learn a language that I can use for multiple purposes.

I have a curious issue on a customer site where the above components are installed. The issue being that the iPhones the users utilise cannot connect to the mail server via WiFi, they are forced to connect with their 3G connection. The core issue seems to be the 887VA, as when I've installed 'lesser' branded ADSL routers, the connection seems to be fine. The iPhones are set to access the mail server via the URL: mail.customer.com. Should I change this to the internal IP of the server 192.168.12.200, the mail connection works fine. However I cannot expect the client to make this change every time they arrive or leave the office. Presently I have them disable WiFi when on premises.

I will be implementing a new firewall (cisco asa 5515x) on my existing 3750x (server switches) and my 2960s (user switches). What should I need to apply on my firewall and swtiches to make the implementation successfull. I will put my 3750x as my DMZ and my 2960s as my inside. The 3750x have multiple subnet and also the 2960s.which features and technologies i need to know on those 3 products. my 3750x and 2960s don't have any ACL defined and most common features are vlan, switchport, trunking, spanning-tree, stacking, vtp.how my asa knows that my 3750x/2960s have multiple vlans. my current connection right now on 3750x and 2960s is just through 6 ports i assigned as one trunk, below is my config [code]
my 2960s vlans are almost the same with my 3750x except vlan 160, 170, 192. but of course when i put this in asa, i have to segragate vlan for 3750x (192, 100, 110,160, 170) and 2960s (130, 150). for my 2960s connection to the asa and since this will have big bandwidth, i will use 3 ports on my asa (and trunk it) connecting to my 2960s and i will use 2 ports on my asa (and trunk it) connecting to my 3750x. the one internet ports and my one management ports on my asa will stay like that.
I want to setup an home network with a wireless router and use multiple switches for wired connections through out my home. I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf your wireless indicator is flashing red when you discover the smurf, it can mean that someone has tried to logon with an incorrect password. this is not necessarily an attack, it could be someone you have allowed access too, who has forgotten the password? In this case entering the correct password will solve the problem. However putting your own MAC address into the filter will simply block your own machine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor my work I am looking to create wireless capabilities to remote locations. To do this we are using a standard modem/router that is connected to an Engenius (802.11b/g) wireless outdoor radio connected to a dish antenna. We are able to go to locations (3+km) and then with a corresponding receiving antenna (using LoS), receive the Internet and connect both to computers at the transmitting point as well as to the WWW. The problem exists is that we want to employ a series of routers at the receiving end that would be able to carry the transmission to a different location (relatively close), due to the fact that some of the locations do not have line of sight to the antennas. We are using Encore routers, model # ENHWI-N3. When we connect the radio's Ethernet into the routers WAN reciever, we can connect to the Internet with a computer. The problem exists is we want to pass that connection over to a second router (R2). This connection is done when the routers are on access points set to a WDS function with R1 having R2's mac address and vice versa. Both routers are set to channel 1. Even when the routers are seperated by distances >50m a computer plugged into R2 can see a computer plugged into R1. Files can be transferred between the 2 computers wirelessly at speed around 3 mbps. However computer 2 on R2 can not connect to the WWW. This router features a spot that lights up if it has Internet access and R1's is lit up but R2's is not. How do we transfer the Internet and not just a LAN from R1 to R2 so it can be accessed further away from the point of the radio and antenna equipment. This setup has also been used where R2 is hardwired to R3. At R3 we change the channel to 11, and then connect through that with mac addresses wirelessly to 4th router. If comp is in R4 and far away it can still access and file share from comp at R1.*edit the ip address for the routers exist all on 192.168.1.xxx If the 3rd number is different between routers would this make a difference?
