May 19, 2013Im trying to make a ACE+caching setup work. Ace is running A5(1.2)Content types considered static (like images, stylesheets and javascripts) should be fetched from caches instead of servers.Content from the caches that can be compressed should be compressed by the ACE (stylesheets and javascripts).I am classifying traffic into * static, not compressable (content should be fetched from caches but is already compressed - this class will hold .jpg, .gif, .png, .ico and others - but for this experiment the class is defined with only (a never to be hit) content type .xico* static, compressable (content should be fetched from caches but can be compressed by the ACE - this class will hold .css and .js but for this experiment is defined only with (never to be hit) content types .xjs and .xcssother For statistics purpose I have included a catch all class for everything else (which shold be send to servers) - class-default is configured but will not be hit in this example because of the catch-all class I configured.Since both "STATIC" classes include only content types that has been renamed to content types not used in the real world, I will not expect any hits on those and since WWW.SITENAME.COM:80_STATIC_COMPRESSABLE is the only class configured for compression I expect that nothing will be compressed since there wil be no hits on this class.
This is how it looks in the configuration:

Questions are: Why do I see things being compressed when there is only being accounted hits in a compression:off class ?Why does enabling compression in one class (never being hit) cause hits in other clases to be compressed ?

Dec 10, 2011I may have recently bought an LG NAS (N1T1) and a SAMSUNG SMT S7800 freesat box. The NAS works well on my home network (using Windows 7 Starter), but when the Samsung box is plugged into the network via the RJ45 jack at the rear, it will see the network (ie, it is visible on the screen) but only down to the degree of a symbol. It will not allow me to browse the network - as I was hoping to use this method of getting my DVD collection (most of which is on the NAS) onto the TV. The TV is also an LG - but does not have a network connection at the back. The question is - do I have to do something in the LG NAS setup to make the network readable. Or could the problem be with the Windows 7 Starter edition.

Cisco 2611 - No Console Output
Jan 26, 2012I was given an old Cisco 2611 to screw around with, no idea if it's working or not and no idea if the configs and passwords were wiped. Now my problem is that when I turn it on I don't see any console output at all.
Using 9600 baud, 1 stop bit, 8 data bits, no parity or flow control.
The power LED comes on and the activity light blinks for ~1 - 2 minutes before stopping. If I plug something into one of the Ethernet ports on the back the link light comes on for the port and the activity light occasionally flashes, from DHCP probes or something from my netbook I assume.

Jan 16, 2012I'd like to enable client to router VPN connections. I have a question how to make any sucessful VPN connection to RV220W. From all the tests I made only SSL VPN on Windows XP x86 client machine was working.
For IPSec VPN I always receive this message: [rv220w][IKE] ERROR: Could not find configuration for XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX[500]. I tried with windows and shrewsoft vpn client.
Can't make SSL VPN to work in Windows 7 x64 client because the drivers are not digitally signed. It only works in Windows XP x86 but this is not acceptable. I need universal solution for win clients.
I also need working solution for Android Phone? Router firmware 1.0.3.5. I also tried this step by step guide. No go.

The purpose of the 2611 router was to route traffic from multiple devices connected to a 2950 switch's VLAN X to the internet. Can we achieve this same functionality with only a 3750C-48TS-S switch? Could a static route statement on the 3750 replace the need for the router?

May 16, 2013I have a curious issue on a customer site where the above components are installed.The issue being that the iPhones the users utilise cannot connect to the mail server via WiFi, they are forced to connect with their 3G connection. The core issue seems to be the 887VA, as when I've installed 'lesser' branded ADSL routers, the connection seems to be fine.The iPhones are set to access the mail server via the URL: mail.customer.com. Should I change this to the internal IP of the server 192.168.12.200, the mail connection works fine. However I cannot expect the client to make this change every time they arrive or leave the office. Presently I have them disable WiFi when on premises.

Aug 3, 2011I'm trying to connect my Cisco lab to the internet. I've configured my 2611 to accept DHCP. I can ping the Linksys E1000 router but can't ping the modem on the other side, and cannot get out to the internet with the PC that's connected to the lab. When I look at the DHCP table in the E1000 the 2611 shows up in the table. I can ping all other computers on the lan, just not the modem to get out to the net.I have the configuration for the 2611. Did I miss something. Is the modem blocking ICMP traffic?
