Oct 4, 2012I have a wireless access point, I want to be able to hand out addresses via the Cisco router through DHCP on the interface eth0/1. The wireless users that get an IP I want then route out the eth0/0 interface to my statically assigned default gateway. Right now Im not concerned with setting up security measures once this works I'll go back in and add that. Here is my running-config. Right now nothing from the 10.0.0.0 is being routed out to the internet.

Sep 8, 2012I am with Virgin media and have a home lab (2611 routers, 3550 switches, 2950s etc) which i usually just use for testing things on and practicing.
Now I tried to connect it to the internet and got some weird things happening.
I got NAT and DHCP client all setup correctly on the router (or so I think!) along with DNS settings but I still can't get Internet access.
My network is all setup right so that through using OSPF the router is the gateway (0.0.0.0 route) for all devices. Doing a traceroute confirms this.
Yet I never get any further than the router? I see IP nat translations ticking up as I send more requests but never get a webpage or a reply from any of the machines in my network.
HOWEVER... The router itself does get some replies from Google.co.uk and bbc.co.uk but doesn't seem to want to give anything else on the "inside" a response?

Cisco WAN :: 2611 - Connecting Home Lab Router To Cable Modem Over Wireless Access
Mar 11, 2012My home lab is in a different room than the cable modem. I have a wireless N router in the room with the cable modem. I have a wireless access point that is connected to a Cisco 2611XM routers fa0/0 interface. The 2611 accepts the DHCP address from the wireless router. However, I can't ping past the wireless LAN 192.168.10.0 network. I know with the wireless router it's two layers of DHCP. Should remove the DHCP settings from the wireless router? The wireless router is a TrendNet TEW-651BR. I can ping my iphone or any device conntected to the wireless router. And my laptop can ping default gateway of the wireless router, which I assume is the cable modem, however the 2611 cannot. So I'm assuming that's why the hosts behind the 2611 can't get to the internet. I followed the below instructions. I know the instructions don't assume your using a wirelss router between 2611 and the cable modem. But, I really don't want to run a cable to the cable modem.

Cisco 2611 - No Console Output
Jan 26, 2012I was given an old Cisco 2611 to screw around with, no idea if it's working or not and no idea if the configs and passwords were wiped. Now my problem is that when I turn it on I don't see any console output at all.
Using 9600 baud, 1 stop bit, 8 data bits, no parity or flow control.
The power LED comes on and the activity light blinks for ~1 - 2 minutes before stopping. If I plug something into one of the Ethernet ports on the back the link light comes on for the port and the activity light occasionally flashes, from DHCP probes or something from my netbook I assume.

Home Network :: Connecting Cisco 2611 To Linksys E1000?
Aug 3, 2011I'm trying to connect my Cisco lab to the internet. I've configured my 2611 to accept DHCP. I can ping the Linksys E1000 router but can't ping the modem on the other side, and cannot get out to the internet with the PC that's connected to the lab. When I look at the DHCP table in the E1000 the 2611 shows up in the table. I can ping all other computers on the lan, just not the modem to get out to the net.I have the configuration for the 2611. Did I miss something. Is the modem blocking ICMP traffic?

Feb 5, 2011my computer is a dell dimension 1100, with a Linksys WMP54G wifi card, running vista home basic.In the wifi thing in the notification area, it shows two wireless networks, One is my normal SSID (Lower Net), and one is "Unidentified network". They are both on one wireless connection (Wireless Network Connection 3). When i try to go on the internet, it says i'm not connected. i tried disconnecting from the unidentified network, but that disconnects me from lower net too.

To get a connection I have to go into Control Panel, open Device Manager, click on Network adapters, which opens Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. I uninstall the Controller, restart and I then get an Internet connection. The Realtek controller then re-installs itself. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium operating system on my desktop. I am wired through a Dynalink RTA 1320 Rev 2 ADSL2+ Modem Router (provided and checked by my ISP). I have a Netgear Wireless N Router WNR 2000 for wireless connection to my laptop which has a Vista operating system. I have no connectivity problems to the laptop. I have had the connections checked by my ISP and the Netgear router by Netgear. They have both confirmed that there is connectivity to the desk top and the laptop and that the connections are working. Both have said that there is an issue with the operating system. I have got all the latest drivers installed and I get the message "Best driver software for your device is already installed".

The computer will say "Connected, No Internet Access" In order to fix it I have to unplug the router and then plug it back in. This happens to any computer that tries to get online from a cold start-up. The router must always be unplugged, then plugged back in, then it will have internet access (and will generally maintain it throughout the session and even if the computer is restarted, i.e. warm boot). Mar 6, 2012I'm in an issue w/ on of our ISPs. We're using an ADSL line as a secondary light load line ( 16 MBit, /w PBR in place to separate the 80 and 443 from the business-critical applications running via a SDSL link. ).
I am on a 2611 XM with IOS 12.2, mated to a D-Link 321B modem running in transparent mode. After running smoothly for weeks, for a few days now, every night some time between 2 AM and 4 AM the link would die with the dialer showing:
Virtual-Access1 is up, line protocol is down Hardware is Virtual Access interface [code]....
To my knowledge, the only option to bring it up again is to reload the box . Taking into account that the router is our DHCP server and the date gets reset to 1994, interesting effects are the outcome of resetting the box.
Well, the ISP have checked their gear and keep saying that these report a "port error" ( quite unspecific ) and blame me that I have a wrong. config in place - which is here:

Pc Not Showing Up On The Router
May 13, 2012I'm having problems with the networking here, Im not Admin But since it only effects me no one else is bothered.The problem is; that I do not show up on the router, or my Mac address, and port checkers say every port is shut for me (yet i'm here). Noticed this once ports I opened (and were working fine for weeks) suddenly stopped working, Went to check the problem and I wasn't there. But when i unplug myself from the router and plug it back in, they work on "Test Drive 2" (shows if ports are opened or closed on the launcher) but show they're closed on a port checker and a few minutes later the launcher then says they are shut.

Oct 21, 2011Some background first. Last night I went trolling around for a solution to an ip address conflict message I receive when I try to go onto Xbox live via a network bridge on my laptop. What I eventually ended up doing was going into my tp-link wireless router settings (not sure of the exact model number as I am not home right now) and reserving two different ip addresses for my laptop and my Xbox using their MAC addresses. It didn't appear to do anything ( now I think possibly because my Xbox needs the same ip as my laptop?). Anyways I tried to go onto Xbox live and it worked at the start (as it always does) and then 30 minutes in, the ip address conflict message came up (usually meaning a disconnect from Xbox live is imminent). But I actually ended up staying online for another 3 hours until the Internet crashed.
Upon further investigation I noticed that my wireless network was not even showing up on my computer, my phone, or any of my roommates computers. I went upstairs to check the wireless router and it was seemingly working correctly (i.e. no flashing lights or anything). Not quite sure what to do. I would go back and change the router settings but I don't think I can without a connection to it.

Sep 13, 2012I've noticed in the mornings lately when I get up around 6 am my internet will not work. Not on wireless or on my desktop. I decided I'd log into the router to see if there was a firmware update or anything. I had checked the logs and there are quite a few entries relating to DoS. I googled around and saw that it could be some sort of packet loss and the router is mistaking it for some sort of DoS attack. And that due to it not showing up multiple times every second it likely isn't a DoS attack. Here is a few from the logs:

D-Link DIR-655 :: Computers Not Showing Up In Router?
Jul 11, 2011Have another problem with my new rev B router.
I am trying to configure access control rules, but the list of computers (ip addresses and mac addresses) are empty, I have setup all of my devices with static ip's, they are all turned on and all have internet access. None of the systems including the one I am trying to configure the rules with are there, They don't show up in port forwarding either. Any one ever have this problem? I returned and DIR-825 Rev.b for this same problem because i thought it was defective.
I have tried rebooting the router, rebooting each pc and trying different ports on the router itself. There are wireless and wired computers that I am trying to setup but none of them show up. When I try to manually enter them into access control ie. 192.168.0.103 it will only allow me to put one computer in for each rule.
The old rev.A router this one replaced work perfectly fine with the same cables and computers setup the same way.
Cisco Router Not Working Showing Yellow Sign
Dec 10, 2012Cisco E1000 router.connecting directly to the router, internet works. When connecting wirelessly, it works for about 2 minutes, then I get no connection and a yellow ! in the connection setting icon. No wireless internet will work until I power down and restart the router. Then the same problem continues.Today when trying it, it won't even connect for a few minutes. It shows as "connected" on my laptop but it has the yellow ! and will not access the internet. So I am no longer ever able to connect wirelessly. I've done a hard reset already.
