I have 4 story hotel with 40 rooms, 10 rooms in each floor, i want to setup wifi network to cover all the rooms, what should i do or what instruments to use, is it possible to make user based setup for each room.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my family has an E2000 setup near the modem in a room that litterally is a DEADZONE, signal bearly gets in or out of this room. I've argued until I was blue in the face that we ned to rewire the internets inlet to the house in to another room that isn't a deadzone and rune a router from there.They IT disadvantaged refused. We have also an E2500 they say hook it up, maybe it will work better (when your in a concrete and mettal room with a router sitting on a shelf surrounded by book and with a corless phone system hooks up and sitting on top of it... its jsut not going to work. is there a way i can take the E2500 and make it an access point for the E2000?
I figure if I can I would take the E2500 and put int in a better location and jsut have it relay the E2000 internet. Because of the IT limited thought process of most of the people living here I'd prefer that they share the same SSID or atleast make for a simple transition for the apes I live with.
internet provided to whole building with connections in every room -> personal router in my room -> my PCs, Macs & printer, how to set up my computers so that they can share files with each other and print to my network printer, but without being susceptible to being accessed from other computers in the building? I have my own netgear router. But at the moment, my shared folders are accessible by everyone in the building, so is my printer If I set all the computers to automatically set ip by DHCP, they can access the net, but everyone in the building can access them (and my printer which requires a manual ip doesnt work). If I set all the computers to manual addresses (e.g. 192.168.1.14 ... 192.168.1.15 ... 192.168.1.16 etc.) they work with each other, the printer works, its secure, but I can't access the internet!Is there a way to for example have my own internal network with manual ip addresses, while also being able to connect to the net?

View 1 Replies View RelatedA short background. Our corporate SSID is being migrated from using PEAPv0 to EAP-TLS. This restricts access only to company notebooks. Additionally we have barcode scanners which are used to inventory assets. Those devices are not able to use EAP-TLS as they cannot be integrated in the domain and being unable to do certificate based authentication.
As a workaround we planned to use another SSID with access to the same network but using PEAPv0 as authentication method, basically the same SSID but with a different name. As this naturally allows anyone to access the corporate network with a valid username/password I now wanted to add another step into the authentication process - the MAC of the device. I know I can do the filtering at the WLAN controller, but as it has a limited database as well as the fact that it is cumbersome to maintain the MAC list on all the controllers I thought I can do it over our ACS system.
I am now trying to accomplish the following: The user gets authenticated via the internal user store, which is succesful. Now I want to authorize the user via the MAC address, which is stored in the internal host store of the ACS, if access is granted or not.
For this I created the following policy:
Service Selection Policy -- (Rule based result selection)
-- (NDG:Device Type in All Device Types:Wireless And RADIUS-IETF:Called-Station-ID contains <SSID>) | Result: PEAP access
-- Default | Result: DenyAccess

When I then try to access the wireless network I won't get authenticated. The error I get, when I look into the logs is: 15039 Selected Authorization Profile is DenyAccess
Is it not possible to use one identity store as "attribute database" for the other identity store?
I've installed Cisco ACS 5.3. After I created several internal users (defined password and enabled password), Identiy Groups, Access Polices, Network Devices and AAA Clients (e.g. Cisco 1841) for Radius and configured my Router like this:

aaa authentication login VTY group radius local-case
aaa authentication enable default group radius enable
....
Now I'm able to login successful using my internal User. But if I try to use enable to enter the enable level I'll receive the message "% Error in authentication." when I use the defined enable password.
In the ACS logging I'll can see that "$enab15$" is missing. If I setup a user name "$enab15" I can login to enable level, but what have I to do, to use the custom enable passwords?
Step 1.2 - 1.5 is requiered for both (Radius and Tacacs). Then you have to switch to 2.1-2.7 for Radius or 3.1 - 3.7 for Tacacs authentication.
I have a Linksys E1000 wireless router, and I seem to have either written down the password incorrectly or am using the wrong one. Regardless, I can not access the web-based setup for the router. Is there anyway to reset the username and password for it?

I want to give limited access to our first level support so that they can execute certain basic commands like, port vlan change, access port shut/no-shut on Cisco 6509 and 3750E switches IOS based. I want to restrict them to only few options so they can not make changes to uplink (TenGig) ports and can not issue reload command etc. We do not have TACACS. What is the best way to achieve this?

Example:Template Parameter Mask asks User for an Interface Description- the User enters e.g. "A101" Second Parameter asks User for an access vlan to deploy to this interfaces- e.g. " 10"
So during deployment LMS make a "switchport access vlan 10" only on interfaces that contain the description "A101".
I know this is possible via Compliance Check/Deploy, but we want to make this more User friendly and flexible so that e.g. a Helpdesk Member can use this Template to easily change the VLAN based on a interface description (which refers in this case to a CAT5 outlet label).
I have Verizon FIOS internet/wireless router and then a WRT310N wireless router connected to it thru Ethernet cable. I want to disable DHCP in the Linksys, but when I try to access the set up page at address 192.168.1.1 the Verizon router set up page shows up. I've tried to connect the router directly to the computer, but it needs the internet connection from the Verizon router. How do I get to the set up of the Linksys at the same time the Verizon is using the same address?

Is it possiable to track how much time a user spends using a service based on it's port number. I have figured out how to capture all the data, and I can then look at timestamps, but I would like a better way if possible. Can this be done at the firewall, or do I need a different appliance?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried to make policy based routing on Cisco 3560. I use ipservices ios (SW version 12.2.(50)SE3 and SW-IMAGE C3560-IPSERVICESK9-M) For below configuration there is no problem and pbr is working.

But when i add another sequence to the "pbr1" with another sequence number like that.

pbr is not working. Switch gives message "PLATFORM_PBR-3-UNSUPPORTTED_RMP:Route-map pbr1 not supported for Policy Based Routing”"ip policy route-map pbr1" command not shown in the running config. And "show ip policy" output is blank.Configuration guide says you have insert many sequence to the route-map with the same name. And also this command is not in the unsupported command list.
I'm trying to access the web setup page and I'm being asked for the user name and password. I have the password from the initial setup written down but apparently didn't also record the (changed) user name. It's not "admin" (tried that - and just leaving it blank - already).
Is there any way to recover the correct user name short of resetting the router and setting it up again from scratch?
The WES610N bridge seems to work fine, but I cannot get into the web-based setup. I have tried using it directly through my laptop, as the instructions show, then through an Asus RT-53N as a router. I did have the 610 connected to my laptop's ethernet socket, where it provided internet through the Asus RT-53N wireless router just fine, but when I tried to access the setup, again, it would not work. Next, I tried it through a desktop and Linksys RVS4000, again nothing. I would like to check the firmware and see what else is in the menu.

Now the DSL was installed a while back for a different need and now that need is gone. What Id like to is have the Cisco router do performance routing and send out internet traffic to either its own external IP or send it over to the DSL if it can get a better response. Presently, Since the Cisco is my gateway, the DSL line is sitting idle.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new wireless router and I currently using my older dlink dir-524 wireless router in my home.eason in buying a new one is because currently the dlink router is in the family room use to be a garage and my wifes imac is in our bedroom the couple rooms down not next door or anything, and the imac and even our smartphones when in our bedroom the connection gets disconnected then reconnected etc etc, basically signal strength is low initially when connected to the router.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI may have recently bought an LG NAS (N1T1) and a SAMSUNG SMT S7800 freesat box. The NAS works well on my home network (using Windows 7 Starter), but when the Samsung box is plugged into the network via the RJ45 jack at the rear, it will see the network (ie, it is visible on the screen) but only down to the degree of a symbol. It will not allow me to browse the network - as I was hoping to use this method of getting my DVD collection (most of which is on the NAS) onto the TV. The TV is also an LG - but does not have a network connection at the back. The question is - do I have to do something in the LG NAS setup to make the network readable. Or could the problem be with the Windows 7 Starter edition.

Questions are: Why do I see things being compressed when there is only being accounted hits in a compression:off class ?Why does enabling compression in one class (never being hit) cause hits in other clases to be compressed ?
i'm facing a big problem with my access point WAG54G ver 2.0 ,i just bought it from 2 days but i find alot of problems when i start using it ,i have read all the user guide and the quick install to see how to setup the access point and make it work with my adsl.i have configured all things right using PPPOE and putting my user name and password and then save settings then go to the status and press on connect , but it don't connect with me just i find connecting and adsl link : Down and still making connecting and nothing after that and my adsl led is off haven't any colors ,and when i get again to basic setup i found the password that i put it in the ppoe login is too long , not my password i tried to see what is this password and recover the hidden i found it " d6nw5vlx2pc7st9m ".i don't know what is the problem i tried alot of times to change setting and also the same problem.i think that it's a frim ware problem and i tried install a new updated frimware but everytime trying to install it get installing and suddenly stoped and white page appeard and all the access point is stopping and when restart it the ac power.

We lost our password for https access but can get in via ssh. I want to set up another user with https access from the SSH interface.
I have a netgear wireless modem router in an upstairs bedroom/study. My problem is that I can connect my son's windows 7 laptop wirelessly in any of the upstairs rooms with a good download speed (around 8mbps) except for his bedroom in which the download speed suddenly drops to 400-600kbps. I can sit on the landing connecting at 8mbps, then move into his doorway and it drops to around 3mbps and then a couple of feet further into the room and it's only 500kbps.
I've tried turning off all other electrical appliances in his room but it makes no difference. Obviously something is affecting the download speed dramatically but I'm at a loss as to what it can be. The signal strength seems fine.
recently I have been using my laptop downstairs where the router is in the same room, and now, when I attempt to connect to the network in my bedroom it connects for maybe a few seconds and indicates an average connection and I can also see other available networks before suddenly all connectivity is lost, I can't even see other available networks. Previously I would be able to get strong signal in my bedroom and I was able to use the internet without any fault.I have tested a family member's laptop in my bedroom, and theirs seems to be working just fine in my room. I can only use my laptop downstairs now and I need to know if this is a fault with my laptop's network adapter or if it's a problem with connection between my laptop and the router.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm staying at a friend's place and can only access the internet when I'm in the same room as the router.When out of the room my computer detects the network at two bars of strength but after a short time denies me access, when I run the network troubleshooter it says that it cannot detect the proxy settings.My friend can connect fine to the network from anywhere in the house and I can connect to my home network and my school network with no problems.Both of us are running Dell Laptops with Windows 7.My card is a Dell Wireless 1510.The router uses WPA2 encryption.why I can't connect?
