Slow Wireless Internet And Constantly Disconnecting?
Jan 8, 2012
i recently reinstalled my Windows 7 and im having wireless problems now which is didnt have before.I now takes along time to load pages and randomly disconnects. It has the exclamation mark next to the 5 bars of connection. Im currently sitting on 4 bars which is normal but it is really frustrating especially when im trying to do my project that it just keeps disconnecting. I use the RealTek 8185 extensible 802.11b/g wireless device.

I am connected to the router with a cable , a router which my internet provider supplied me with. The problem used to happen before , occasionally , but the disconnecting has drastically increased lately , and these days it has become unbearable , it occurs at least once every hour , especially when i'm playing a game online or so.The disconnects last very shortly , or until i reset my router or disable/enable my network in network connections.I have 2 more laptops in the house , connected via wireless , and they've had no issues with this. The first time these problems occurred i was able to fix it just by doing the windows troubleshoot, which lead to an error saying "Default gateway is not available".I found a lot of threads on the internet regarding this issue , and tried all of them but none seemed to work.
I tried downloading newest drivers from my motherboard site first , then from Realtek's site, then deleting old drivers via DriverSweeper aswell , just in case , but it did nothing.I tried changing the Speed & Duplex to 100mbp/s Full Duplex , which has solved the issue for some , but again it did nothing.I called my internet provider , was told to use static IP address and type it in manually and if it didn't work to try plugging the cable into another slot on the router ,And after all those things , i feel like the problems is even bigger now. I now no longer get the "Default gateway is not available" error , and the only solution is to reset router or disable/enable network , which leads to the network being "unidentified" for some time before it connects.

I have recently built a new computer and now I am having trouble with my network connection. When I was done I directly connected it to my 2wire modem with the Ethernet cable. There was no connection until I downloaded the LAN driver from the CD that came with the motherboard [ASUS M5A88-V EVO ATX]. It worked for a few days and then the connection just started dropping. The trouble shoot in Windows 7 fixed it - but only for a while until it didn't work at all. Restarting the computer restored the connection and usually gave me about a few hours to work with, but a few days later all I had were a few minutes. Other than this computer I have two laptops [Windows 7] and a desktop [Windows XP] which the internet runs smoothly on when hardwired to the modem and I didn't have to install anything. Some messages I get from the trouble shoot are:LAC doesn't have valid IP configuration Default gateway not available Unidentified network?

I've been having a problem the past several days with my wired connection where every 2-3 seconds it will disconnect, then reconnect, then disconnect, and so on without stopping. There doesn't seem to be any reason for it, and it's not the internet connection but rather the physical connection that seems to be lost (the network will do the entire identifying...unidentified network > identified network thing).
Naturally, I've already tried upgrading my network card drivers + uninstalling/reinstalling when it didn't work. I've powercycled the router/modem and rebooted the comp, but I can't find any way to fix the issue. It's not a problem with the router, since this only happens on my computer, and the other computers connected to the router have no problems at all. Even if I disconnect the router and connect my computer directly to the modem, it still has the issue.
Normally I'd assume it was something wrong with my network adapter, but my computer has no problems connecting to a new router/network it's never been on before. This only happens with networks that my computer has connected to in the past.
Recently I've just been using the wireless connection since it was only the wired connection having issues, but a few days ago my wireless connection started doing the exact same thing. It'll disconnect/reconnect ad infinitum without stopping every few seconds, so it's impossible to get on the internet.
Here are the results of my ipconfig:

Broadband connection is very slow and goes dormant even when moving mouse on web page to try to initiate applets. Computer locks or freezes constantly in between pages or when trying to open other pages on websites. Takes really long to try to do anything on computer when online.

I have had the virgin media superhub on 30mb broadband for about a month and over the last week I have been disconnecting from my network up to as much as 3 or 4 times a minute or sometimes once in five minutes and other times it just vanishes from the network list for about 30 seconds then re-appears, sometimes when I disconnect it re-connects almost instantly other times I have to wait about a minute or sometimes even longer even though I can permanently see my neighbours network and my laptop does not have this problem.. I payed 50 for a new wireless card to try and fix the problem and it was fine for a few weeks now it is the same. Restarting the router makes no difference and this is happening all constantly over the last week without fail, i have tried updating my wireless drivers and using different wireless cards.

I got my WAG120N like 5 months back. Last night it started to disconnect randomly like at 5 - 10minute intervals.... The connection to the internet connects and then disconnects within 5 seconds. I've tried resetting, firmware upgrading, restoring settings and all that with no success. (I'm referring to the wired connection used for my PC and not WiFi)

I have a USB Netgear WN111v2 that has been working perfectly up until now, it can't connect to the network and trying to manually set up the addresses, reinstalling drivers, and trying a system restore haven't worked. Even though the router has a lease for the computer on 192.168.1.11 it's doesn't work, although it will show that it's connecting, it won't ping anything, including the router... WZC utility is stopped?

Cli/ssh is fine, but the ASDM on Win8 64 bit seems to constantly have issues. Sometimes it works fine, other times it hangs at "Software update completed" or at a weird percentage and then never opens. I have noticed that disabling my Trend Micro realtime a/v scanner aids, but still doesn't completely fix the issue every time. speed it up or at least make it work every time?

Ok, I have a huge problem with my wireless connection. It will constantly lose connection to the internet from my PC, IPod, Laptop etc. What will happen is a yellow warning triangle appears which tells me I've lost internet access. I have had the modem checked and replaced by the ISP with no success so it's likely that it's not a problem on their end. I've changed the wireless channel to move it away from my neighbours with no success.
Here is a copy of my ipconfig /all when the connection dropped out:

I setup a D-Link DIR-825, VB1, Firmware V2.00NA about a month ago. We have 3 Macs here at home - 1 brand new iMac, a G4 Powerbook, and an old G4 / 933 Tower. The G4 tower is connected via ethernet. The other two through Wi-Fi. My problem is that I can barely use the internet for even a few minutes on the G4 tower, connected via Ethernet, without losing my connection. I can be in the middle of loading a page or an image, and suddenly it will say "Waiting for xxx.com". Then if I try to go to Google.com or something I will invariably get "Looking up xxx.com". The connection usually returns on it's own, but it can take up to 3 or 5 minutes. When I get this message on the ethernet G4 tower, I will also have lost connection on the wireless Macs. For the first couple of weeks the tower was not connected and we were just using the two wireless Macs, and they were working well. It seems that as soon as I hooked up the G4 tower via ethernet, connections became very flaky and intermittent all of a sudden. All the Macs are configured for DHCP. We have a Time Warner cable modem. The G4 tower had previously been used at my office with it's own dedicated DSL modem / router, and it worked flawlessly for months at a time without dropping a connection. I've tried rebooting the modem, then the router, then turning all the Macs back on, several times. Same result. I just tried loading the new firmware but it didn't work. Said the Gateway was too crowded or something.

So my router from CenturyLink died about a week ago. So I got a new router from CenturyLink, and ever since then my internet keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting. I have tried to put an ethernet cable in the back of my computer but my ethernet port doesn't work, so I use a wireless adapter. It is a D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme Desktop Adapter IEEE 802.11g, IEEE802.11n Draft 2.0 32-bit PCI Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates WPA2. My connection is excellent. Speed is 130 mbps.

I hva eto unplug the router and then plug back in as this is the only thing that makes it go back on line. My Ipad and other wireless devices seem to stay connected all the time but the desk top is the one to go down. I am ready to take the d link stuff back to london drugs and revert to my old linksys unless i can solve this problem

I've had this laptop for nearly a year and a half. I've never had a problem with it but recently, in the last month internet keeps disconnecting every couple of minutes!! Though the times do vary on other days. I'm a student and I live with other students. It seems that this doesn't happen to anyone else in the house but my internet works fine when I go home. I can't work out if it's a problem with the internet here or my laptop.

I am having problems with my wifi connection, it has been going on for a while now, i got it fixed by a computer guy but then i had to reset my entire computer and now my internet will stay on for about a minute or two and then disconnect again and so on but after a certain period of time (2-3 hrs usually) it will stay connected until my computer gets shut down.. I am on an Acer Aspire 5315-2822 i have disconnected the "acer empowering technology" and i know that has nothing to do with the problem because it was always disconnected when my internet ran steady. There are 4 other networks in my area, if that means anything? Not to mention im using windows vista.

I've got a LAN set up with a server and printer, no internet connectivity to it. When I need to access the internet, I connect through a wireless hotspot. The only problem is that I have to unplug the ethernet from my LAN connection for the wireless to work.Is there a way to have both connections coexist, so that when I need to print something or access a file on my server I can do so without it interfering with my internet connection?

So, I'm connected to my router through wifi on my laptop and every 5-10 minutes I disconnect from my internet and I can't reconnect right away. I have to wait another 5-10 minutes for it to connect back. And I also can't connect the first time I start up my laptop. I need to wait 5 minutes before I can connect.

I got a new laptop (Toshiba Z830) last month and for the last few days my wireless internet keeps disconnecting and reconnecting after about a minute. It'll disconnect and say there's no internet (there's a yellow exclamation mark on the icon on the taskbar) and after about a minute it'll reconnect. I don't know if there's a pattern but I've noticed it keeps happening when I try to watch a video on youtube and sometimes at other times. No other device of mine is having any problems (desktop, phone, netbook), just my laptop.

Basically, my wireless internet has been disconnecting then reconnecting on weekends up to 50+ times a day. The weekend also seems to be the time when I have 10+ wireless connections in range. Can that be the cause of it? I have tried changing my router channels but to no avail.

So for the longest time now my internet just goes in and out constantly. When I moved out of my parents house and got my own internet hooked up it all started. Internet would go in and out a lot both on wireless and when I was hooked up to local connection. I had Charter and told them and they gave me a new modem but problem stayed so I just assumed it was the wireless router I had bought. I moved to another city and am still using the same wireless router and got another modem from Charter in my new house. Problem is still there and is way worse.About every 5 mins I lose connection for about 30 secs. It always says connected though but pages won't load and says connection issues but like I said my wireless connection always shows excellent connection. About once a week it will go out and not come back unless I unplug the modem and router and plug it all back in.

I am trying to configure my connectivity settings on my E6500. I enter 192.168.1.1 and the logon screen comes up. I have tried logging in with my user name and password and also disconnecting the internet and logging in the router password. After I log in, 98% of the time it says Router Not Found You are not connected to your router. It is funny that it is telling me this since this webpage is provided from the router since i have unplugged the internet. Even with the internet on, it does the same thing.
The times it does load the homepage of the router, I click on connectivity and when it does come up, the page is just blank with Ok, Cancel, and Apply buttons.I have done a reset on the router and reconfigured it with the CD and tried all the above again and same results.
I don't remember this being a problem when i first setup the router, it appears that a new firmware was automatically installed. I do not see any info on this being a known issue with the latest firmware.

I started using E4200 few months ago. It used to have frequent disconnection with E4200 when it's running on router mode back then. After playing with the MTU from 1492 (recommended by ISP) to 1364, it's seems to be quite ok until recently. It is getting worst than before. It disconnect my internet almost few times in 5 minutes.

My internet connection has been dropping constantly since the beginning of this year. I cut out for ~10 seconds then regain connection. This gets annoying especially when I'm gaming (Left 4 Dead 2, Counter-Strike, etc.). The modem lights stay on as well as my router lights. I have already called in three of my ISP's (Time Warner Cable) technicians all of whom think they have fixed the problem but haven't. I have changed my modem, router, ethernet cords; one of the technicians also changed the head of the cable wire outside at the cable box. I have also tried connecting the modem directly to my PC, but the same problem still occurs. I don't believe it's a problem with my PC because it's relatively new (~1 year) and all the other computers in the house cuts out as well.

Whenever I am browsing the web, or listening to an internet radio, or even gaming, after about 30 minutes my internet will cut out. The weird thing though, is that it will come back when I close the game/browser. It seems that whatever tab or application I have running the longest nullifies my internet connection after awhile and will not turn back on until I close out of that specific application.
