Wireless :: Internet Is Connected But Can Only Load Sites
Jan 7, 2011I am having trouble with my wireless connection. I am only able to visit websites but if I try to use the internet for anything else (AIM, Yahoo instant messenger, etc), it will not work. This is not a modem issue because my other computers' connections still work fine.

May 23, 2011My wireless internet keeps dissconnecting once i reach my room. the signal strenght seems to be strong although after a few minutes it dissconnects.

Dec 7, 2012So my router from CenturyLink died about a week ago. So I got a new router from CenturyLink, and ever since then my internet keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting. I have tried to put an ethernet cable in the back of my computer but my ethernet port doesn't work, so I use a wireless adapter. It is a D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme Desktop Adapter IEEE 802.11g, IEEE802.11n Draft 2.0 32-bit PCI Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates WPA2. My connection is excellent. Speed is 130 mbps.

Why Does Wireless Internet Keep Disconnecting
Jul 3, 2011I have a d link router model dir 815 and a d link usb dual band adapter. Just replaced my linksys ones with these. Every day my wirless drops out, maybe 5 times a day and its really annoying us all. I hva eto unplug the router and then plug back in as this is the only thing that makes it go back on line. My Ipad and other wireless devices seem to stay connected all the time but the desk top is the one to go down. I am ready to take the d link stuff back to london drugs and revert to my old linksys unless i can solve this problem

Feb 12, 2011I've had this laptop for nearly a year and a half. I've never had a problem with it but recently, in the last month internet keeps disconnecting every couple of minutes!! Though the times do vary on other days. I'm a student and I live with other students. It seems that this doesn't happen to anyone else in the house but my internet works fine when I go home. I can't work out if it's a problem with the internet here or my laptop.

Mar 13, 2011I am having problems with my wifi connection, it has been going on for a while now, i got it fixed by a computer guy but then i had to reset my entire computer and now my internet will stay on for about a minute or two and then disconnect again and so on but after a certain period of time (2-3 hrs usually) it will stay connected until my computer gets shut down.. I am on an Acer Aspire 5315-2822 i have disconnected the "acer empowering technology" and i know that has nothing to do with the problem because it was always disconnected when my internet ran steady. There are 4 other networks in my area, if that means anything?Not to mention im using windows vista.

It'll disconnect and say there's no internet (there's a yellow exclamation mark on the icon on the taskbar) and after about a minute it'll reconnect. I don't know if there's a pattern but I've noticed it keeps happening when I try to watch a video on youtube and sometimes at other times. No other device of mine is having any problems (desktop, phone, netbook), just my laptop.

The attached settings block facebook as desired during the filter times but after 6:30pm the filter expires and the entire internet is blocked (not just facebook). All of my browsers act as if they are hanging and won't load pages until I disable the filter.
I've also tried creating two different filters (one at a time). The first allowed full internet access all the time and the second allowed access the opposite times of the work filter. But to no avail.

Oct 28, 2012I am trying to configure my connectivity settings on my E6500. I enter 192.168.1.1 and the logon screen comes up. I have tried logging in with my user name and password and also disconnecting the internet and logging in the router password. After I log in, 98% of the time it says Router Not Found You are not connected to your router. It is funny that it is telling me this since this webpage is provided from the router since i have unplugged the internet. Even with the internet on, it does the same thing.
The times it does load the homepage of the router, I click on connectivity and when it does come up, the page is just blank with Ok, Cancel, and Apply buttons.I have done a reset on the router and reconfigured it with the CD and tried all the above again and same results.
I don't remember this being a problem when i first setup the router, it appears that a new firmware was automatically installed. I do not see any info on this being a known issue with the latest firmware.

Jun 7, 2012I am having an issue with my computer that started today. Here are the basic facts:1. Nearly every internet site I try to visit does not load. Facebook and Wikipedia work, as well as ALL Google sites (including YouTube, Gmail, Google News, etc.). Nothing else I have tried to load is loading properly. 2. It could be a coincidence, but these three sites were also my Firefox bookmarks. However, I have reset the default settings for Firefox (including bookmarks) and these three sites still work and nothing else. Additionally, these three sites load in Internet explorer, so the problem isn't specific to Firefox. 3. I don't believe it's a problem with my router/internet connection because I have another computer on the same connection that's working fine (I'm typing this message on the other computer). 4. I successfully pinged other websites using Command.5. I suspect it MIGHT be malware/virus because I have no anti-virus/anti-malware software on the computer that's having problems.

I am aware that the university blocks torrenting which I am totally fine with though when I try to carry out a process such as posting a large entry on Livejournal.com or Dreamwidth.org, it tries to load for a couple seconds and then fails. When in Google Chrome, it says that it's "uploaded 100%" but then I receive "Error 7 (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out.". When using Internet Explorer, it either doesn't load at all or I get the standard "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". When I try to carry out a different process on dreamwidth and livejournal (editing my layout), Chrome tells me "Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset." These issues always happen no matter when I try them.

The other night, I could not ping major domains like ATT, CNN, MSNBC, BBC (a chronic missing domain). On the other hand, I could get Yahoo fine and go to a streaming audio site and run music perfectly...but about 90% of the Internet was unreachable. It connects fine but within 2-4 minutes it disconnects then reconnects itself within 20 seconds. It's a plusnet modem and in the corner of my screen I have a little computer screen with 3 signals coming out if it which flash. It's called Wireless Network Connection Status.
