I am having trouble with my wireless connection. I am only able to visit websites but if I try to use the internet for anything else (AIM, Yahoo instant messenger, etc), it will not work. This is not a modem issue because my other computers' connections still work fine.

So my router from CenturyLink died about a week ago. So I got a new router from CenturyLink, and ever since then my internet keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting. I have tried to put an ethernet cable in the back of my computer but my ethernet port doesn't work, so I use a wireless adapter. It is a D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme Desktop Adapter IEEE 802.11g, IEEE802.11n Draft 2.0 32-bit PCI Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates WPA2. My connection is excellent. Speed is 130 mbps.

I have a d link router model dir 815 and a d link usb dual band adapter. Just replaced my linksys ones with these. Every day my wirless drops out, maybe 5 times a day and its really annoying us all. I hva eto unplug the router and then plug back in as this is the only thing that makes it go back on line. My Ipad and other wireless devices seem to stay connected all the time but the desk top is the one to go down. I am ready to take the d link stuff back to london drugs and revert to my old linksys unless i can solve this problemView 3 Replies View Related
I've had this laptop for nearly a year and a half. I've never had a problem with it but recently, in the last month internet keeps disconnecting every couple of minutes!! Though the times do vary on other days. I'm a student and I live with other students. It seems that this doesn't happen to anyone else in the house but my internet works fine when I go home. I can't work out if it's a problem with the internet here or my laptop.View 1 Replies View Related
I am having problems with my wifi connection, it has been going on for a while now, i got it fixed by a computer guy but then i had to reset my entire computer and now my internet will stay on for about a minute or two and then disconnect again and so on but after a certain period of time (2-3 hrs usually) it will stay connected until my computer gets shut down.. I am on an Acer Aspire 5315-2822 i have disconnected the "acer empowering technology" and i know that has nothing to do with the problem because it was always disconnected when my internet ran steady. There are 4 other networks in my area, if that means anything? Not to mention im using windows vista.View 1 Replies View Related
I've got a LAN set up with a server and printer, no internet connectivity to it. When I need to access the internet, I connect through a wireless hotspot. The only problem is that I have to unplug the ethernet from my LAN connection for the wireless to work.Is there a way to have both connections coexist, so that when I need to print something or access a file on my server I can do so without it interfering with my internet connection?View 4 Replies View Related

So, I'm connected to my router through wifi on my laptop and every 5-10 minutes I disconnect from my internet and I can't reconnect right away. I have to wait another 5-10 minutes for it to connect back. And I also can't connect the first time I start up my laptop. I need to wait 5 minutes before I can connect.View 1 Replies View Related
I got a new laptop (Toshiba Z830) last month and for the last few days my wireless internet keeps disconnecting and reconnecting after about a minute. It'll disconnect and say there's no internet (there's a yellow exclamation mark on the icon on the taskbar) and after about a minute it'll reconnect. I don't know if there's a pattern but I've noticed it keeps happening when I try to watch a video on youtube and sometimes at other times. No other device of mine is having any problems (desktop, phone, netbook), just my laptop.View 1 Replies View Related
I just upgraded my old WRT54G to a E4200v2 with firmware 22.214.171.124507. I installed it using the Cisco Connect CD. At first it seemed OK, but then I noted that I cannot open (or takes forever) many websites, in particular those requiring Adobe Flash Player to view. In addition, it appears that access IPv6 Internet or sites is impossible, even though IPv6 is enabled in the GUI. Is there anything I am missing in the configuration/set up of the router?View 9 Replies View Related
Basically, my wireless internet has been disconnecting then reconnecting on weekends up to 50+ times a day. The weekend also seems to be the time when I have 10+ wireless connections in range. Can that be the cause of it? I have tried changing my router channels but to no avail.View 1 Replies View Related

I want to block sites like facebook during my workday but allow the rest of the internet.
The attached settings block facebook as desired during the filter times but after 6:30pm the filter expires and the entire internet is blocked (not just facebook). All of my browsers act as if they are hanging and won't load pages until I disable the filter.
I've also tried creating two different filters (one at a time). The first allowed full internet access all the time and the second allowed access the opposite times of the work filter. But to no avail.
My new router has started to disconnect for a second or so from the internet then reconnect. I have been unable to see the issue and changing the frequency was unsuccessful. This has also been happening when connecting both wired and wirelesslyView 9 Replies View Related

I am trying to configure my connectivity settings on my E6500. I enter 192.168.1.1 and the logon screen comes up. I have tried logging in with my user name and password and also disconnecting the internet and logging in the router password. After I log in, 98% of the time it says Router Not Found You are not connected to your router. It is funny that it is telling me this since this webpage is provided from the router since i have unplugged the internet. Even with the internet on, it does the same thing.
The times it does load the homepage of the router, I click on connectivity and when it does come up, the page is just blank with Ok, Cancel, and Apply buttons.I have done a reset on the router and reconfigured it with the CD and tried all the above again and same results.
I don't remember this being a problem when i first setup the router, it appears that a new firmware was automatically installed. I do not see any info on this being a known issue with the latest firmware.
I started using E4200 few months ago. It used to have frequent disconnection with E4200 when it's running on router mode back then. After playing with the MTU from 1492 (recommended by ISP) to 1364, it's seems to be quite ok until recently. It is getting worst than before. It disconnect my internet almost few times in 5 minutes.
how do I block IP/Internet Adresses for ALL users without adding the sites manually per user in the Parental Control panel? I want to block a certain IP/internet adress for all users but can't find this feature within my EA6500 anywhere? Is this a firmware bug? Has linskys forgotten that some sites want to blocked for all users and how do I do it all in one?View 1 Replies View Related

I am having an issue with my computer that started today. Here are the basic facts:1. Nearly every internet site I try to visit does not load. Facebook and Wikipedia work, as well as ALL Google sites (including YouTube, Gmail, Google News, etc.). Nothing else I have tried to load is loading properly. 2. It could be a coincidence, but these three sites were also my Firefox bookmarks. However, I have reset the default settings for Firefox (including bookmarks) and these three sites still work and nothing else. Additionally, these three sites load in Internet explorer, so the problem isn't specific to Firefox. 3. I don't believe it's a problem with my router/internet connection because I have another computer on the same connection that's working fine (I'm typing this message on the other computer). 4. I successfully pinged other websites using Command.5. I suspect it MIGHT be malware/virus because I have no anti-virus/anti-malware software on the computer that's having problems.View 1 Replies View Related
I'm having problems connecting to certain sites on the internet through one computer. I can connect ok on other computers going through the same home network. On the one computer that is having problems I can connect to the site but then when I click on a link I get unable to connect then I can reload the page and some times it connects to the page. So as I am browsing through the site almost every time I click on a link I get unable to connect and have to keep reloading the page.View 5 Replies View Related

I am currently at university, using a Local Area Connection. I am aware that the university blocks torrenting which I am totally fine with though when I try to carry out a process such as posting a large entry on Livejournal.com or Dreamwidth.org, it tries to load for a couple seconds and then fails. When in Google Chrome, it says that it's "uploaded 100%" but then I receive "Error 7 (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out.". When using Internet Explorer, it either doesn't load at all or I get the standard "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". When I try to carry out a different process on dreamwidth and livejournal (editing my layout), Chrome tells me "Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset." These issues always happen no matter when I try them.View 2 Replies View Related

I have ATT DSL and pretty much every night, I lose a large portion of the Internet. I cannot ping these sites, while the rest of the net works fine. The other night, I could not ping major domains like ATT, CNN, MSNBC, BBC (a chronic missing domain). On the other hand, I could get Yahoo fine and go to a streaming audio site and run music perfectly...but about 90% of the Internet was unreachable. Could not load their sites nor ping them in command line. The other 10% worked flawlessly.View 12 Replies View Related

internet won't stay connected for more than 2-4 minutes at a time. I recently got a new modem, as recently as two days ago. It connects fine but within 2-4 minutes it disconnects then reconnects itself within 20 seconds. It's a plusnet modem and in the corner of my screen I have a little computer screen with 3 signals coming out if it which flash. It's called Wireless Network Connection Status. Beside it are 4 bars not too dissimilar to mobile signal. They too are green and when I click into it it's called Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility.View 1 Replies View Related
Haven't been here in a while after going to grad school. My internet keeps on getting disconnected, and I keep having to unplug the power cord, wait 10 seconds, and then it works again. i recently bought a wireless USB adapter so i can connect to my router as my older one broke. The one i had before worked fine and was easy able to connect to my router with high connection, but with this new adapter i can still connect but have pretty low signal like 2 or 3 bars and whenever i try downloading anything or try watching films or just surfing the web for like 10 minutes it says limited access with a yellow exclamation mark on the signal bar and the only way to reconnect to the internet is to first disconnect and reconnect every time.View 4 Replies View Related

About 2 weeks ago my router began acting up. It disconnects when I'm just browsing, downloading or streaming a video. I tried everything! I changed the channel on the router, resetted the router numerous times. I connected the ethernet cable from my pc directly to the modem to see if it was in fact my router and not the modem. My pc never disconnected once while connected to the modem. In order for me to download something or stream a video I have to connect my pc to the modem and it is becoming a pain!View 5 Replies View Related

I am connected to the router with a cable , a router which my internet provider supplied me with. The problem used to happen before , occasionally , but the disconnecting has drastically increased lately , and these days it has become unbearable , it occurs at least once every hour , especially when i'm playing a game online or so.The disconnects last very shortly , or until i reset my router or disable/enable my network in network connections.I have 2 more laptops in the house , connected via wireless , and they've had no issues with this. The first time these problems occurred i was able to fix it just by doing the windows troubleshoot, which lead to an error saying "Default gateway is not available".I found a lot of threads on the internet regarding this issue , and tried all of them but none seemed to work.
I tried downloading newest drivers from my motherboard site first , then from Realtek's site, then deleting old drivers via DriverSweeper aswell , just in case , but it did nothing.I tried changing the Speed & Duplex to 100mbp/s Full Duplex , which has solved the issue for some , but again it did nothing.I called my internet provider , was told to use static IP address and type it in manually and if it didn't work to try plugging the cable into another slot on the router ,And after all those things , i feel like the problems is even bigger now. I now no longer get the "Default gateway is not available" error , and the only solution is to reset router or disable/enable network , which leads to the network being "unidentified" for some time before it connects.
Got a problem with my connection, it keeps disconnecting every 10 minutes or so, usually at the same time every day. Lasts for a few seconds but does not show as an interruption to the line's uptime, nor is there a warning sign in the system tray (like what usually happens when there's a disconnection).-ISP says they do not see any problems on their end-Updated router firemware, no dice-Router is a Netcomm NB6PLUS4W modem/router-Tried with both wired and wireless connections, same problemView 14 Replies View Related

My bb connection is very unstable and disconnects randomly whenever it feels like it. I have a master socket with one extention (slave I believe its called) however there is nothing plugged into the extention at all and my telephone and bb are connected to the master with a filter. After reading a few threads I have tried some tips which were to disconnect the bell wire (number 3), replace the faceplate, and filter with new ones and try another router none of which have made a difference. I have now removed the faceplate and plugged directly into the test socket. This definitely works and keeps the connection alive for longer sometimes a whole day but then it goes again but definately no where near as often, (she says as the Internet disconnects!)We have several things connected to to router which are up to 3 laptops using windows 7 and vista, up to 3 phones and 2 xboxes however these are never all connected at once but when the connection goes it disconnects all that are connected. I have also been with 3 different providers and this has been the same with all of them. The house is only 9 years old so I don't believe it can be that the wiring is too old but maybe that there is a dodgy connection somewhere?View 1 Replies View Related
